I am really disappointed in Key to Ravenhearst. I had a bad feeling about the game because of the reviews but since I've played the others in the series I wanted to finish it. I didn't get that creepy Ravenhearst feeling like I've gotten in the other 3 games, it didn't look or feel familiar at all and Ravenhearst fans will know what I'm talking about. It was also missing the old school look and feel of MCF, felt more like playing a recent Hidden Expedition game. The story line was over the top and very confusing. Glad I didn't buy the CE.
I have purchased Ravenhearst Unlocked, I hope its a little better at least.
This is Christmas for me!!! I remember the nutcracker story as a child so I was very excited to play this game. Beautiful graphics with that Christmas feel. I think the only downer is that there was such a lot to do, the game got very busy. I will definitely be playing this game again in December.
Cutesy and christmassy but I still found it boring. I love cats and I love christmas so I thought this game would be great but I got bored very quickly with the back and forth and dialogue. I agree with others, you must be either very young or new to this kind of game to really enjoy this one. The Nutcracker in this series is really enjoyable.
I really enjoyed the storyline, was quite unique and entertaining with beautiful graphics. The HO's started off promising but just kept getting easier and easier and I hate easy HO's. There were some unique puzzles with some being way too easy and some way too difficult for me at least. The collectibles were bright and sparkling so there didn't seem to be any point to them, no searching involved. The bonus chapter was slightly different but no real excitement there and quite short.
I should have bought the SE as the CE is not worth it at all.
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
I disagree with reviews that Lea Thompson's acting was bad, most tv physics are kooky and that's exactly how she played it. I know live actors and videos are MCF's style but it just didn't work here, animated characters would have been better suited.
There was way too much back and forth and it was extremely repetitive. I didn't find the graphics fun, gloomy or creepy, it was just bland. The story itself wasn't entertaining either and despite bad reviews I had to play it as I love MCF.
Try Dire Grove, 13th Skull and Escape from Ravenhearst, you won't be sorry!!!!
Love the southern houses, bayous, boats, music and hillbillies. This all sets the atmosphere of the game plus it's raining constantly which makes the game gloomy. Too many bright colors and cheeriness in other mystery games. There's also a great twist in the end, I did not see this coming.
13th Skull, Escape from Ravenhearst and Dire Grove are the classics that you can't miss out on. I highly recommend these games if you're interested in more than just HO.
You cant go wrong with the beautiful graphics in this game, its spectacular but turned out very boring. Lots of back and forth but lacking adventure. I actually ended up forgetting what the point of the story was and who I was supposed to be rescuing.
I don't recommend this game if you're looking for adventure besides HO's so maybe its more suited to those new to this type of game.
I've played Dire Grove - Sacred Grove so I knew I needed to try this game. Bought the CE but it would not play so BFG gave me credit to buy another game. I knew I was missing out so ended up buying the SE last month.
Its very rare to find a game where you are completely alone but you are in this game which ups the creepy factor big time. The falling snow also adds to the game and did I feel chilly playing it.
Cassette tapes that you find along the way is your only human contact which is great. Yes you don't get much help from hints and one has to use an online walkthrough to help with certain puzzles etc but it didn't detract from the game for me. Your journal also comes in handy now and then. Its a challenging, creepy and fun game.
Yes its an old game but I wish MCF and others would keep making games like this, the more recent games are very generic.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
I'm really surprised at the low ratings, this is a masterpiece of a game!!!
Most games have a pretty ordinary storyline but this story is incredible. Someone commented that its like you're in a movie and I agree totally, a very scary psychological drama.
I've played this game only at work and not at home in the dark and it freaked the h@ll out of me, I wouldn't dare play this at night and I love my horror movies.
I disagree with the 1 - 4 star ratings, this is a 5 out of 5 game!!!!
More interactive gameplay, more creepiness by exploring the Mansion and grounds than the first one. The Ravenhearst series really goes all out with their puzzles, it is not easy at all and sometimes I needed to skip it which I hate doing.
Creepy, challenging game plus you learn more about the Ravenhearst story.
