Themed games such as Trick or Treat, Xmas Wonderland and Vacation Adventure are fun games to play and not to be taken very seriously.
Yes the theme is Halloween but its its a cutesy fun Halloween and not a scary one as its for kids as well. My murder mystery games with a Halloween theme I expect to be spooky though.
So just enjoy these games for what they are as the HOS' are fun and so are the in-between puzzles. The only thing that I expect is that the objects aren't too easy to find and that the sequel or prequel games aren't too similar as I prefer varied scenes.

This is a fun, good for playing in-betweener game. Just like Tycoon Takeover your wrist will ache due to the fast pace of the game. The graphics aren't that good but you will have fun though so give it a go.

I played this game a while ago and didn't complete it as it was just too challenging for me. There is no hand holding in this game so no hints etc, you're on your own doing the detective work as both Holmes and Watson. I also struggled a bit due to the graphics not fitting properly with my screen as it may be a much older game.
I will probably try this game again at some stage and I definitely can't knock it just because its too challenging for me. Its slow paced and you've got to put in the ground work like a real detective.

This is definitely a game that those new to HOG's will enjoy.
Good stuff: Italian countryside setting Must admit I liked the hidden object scenes even though they were played twice Cut scenes Buying supplies from the shopkeeper
Bad stuff: Puzzles were way too easy and I'm one that usually struggles with them Storyline was confusing and I still don't know why those particular people had to die Music doesn't fit murder mystery If you don't get the CE you will be even more confused with the ending but then again I played the CE and I'm still confused.
I recommend this game!

VISUALS Fits the time period of Dracula. Dark but not dreary
CHARACTERS Dracula: Handsome, great Dracula accent and totally in love with Mina Igor: Stupid but very loyal and itching to kill Van Helsing Van Helsing: He's no Hugh Jackman but intelligent, calm and gets the job done. He's also very determined to save Mina's soul
GOOD STUFF Finding bottles of blood when Dracula gets weak Igor's hilarious Choice of whether to turn certain characters or not - I have a feeling that this may change the outcome so I still need to play it with choosing not to turn anyone Different locations on the map so no having to walk back and forth Just a super fan game all in all
BAD STUFF Found the Bonus game in the CE boring and unnecessary, I didnt feel like it added to the storyline but someone died in the end that I didnt think would die so that at least was a surprise.
I totally recommend this game and can't wait to play Dracula Origin

Don't expect interactive characters and adventure, this is purely a hidden object game with puzzles. I wish it was as exciting as Ghostwriter, Salem Witch Trials and Devil on the Mississippi but it's not.
It is however a good "in-betweener" game where you can't relax too much as it's not that easy to find the hidden objects. I did enjoy the little conversation blocks from witnesses etc.
I recommend this game!

I've just copied and pasted my review from the SE version. This is still an excellent game but I didn't enjoy the bonus game as much as the main game.
As per a previous review, I too have owned the game for a couple of years and realised I've never written a review and i've played it quite a few times. I must say I love the graphics, yes its old school but it makes the game feel more authentic like you're actually in Holmes' era. I love how Holmes and Watson interact with each other and with their client Henry Baskerville, feels very authentic. I played on hard and it got a bit challenging here and there, as in I really didnt know what to do or where to go next so I got a bit of help online but if you play on easy mode I'm sure you'll have no problems getting stuck. I found the unraveling of the clues and mysteries very logical, it was just me not thinking and not trying hard enough the times that I got stuck. I share the same phobia as Watson so it got a bit hectic at times, was happy to be done with those rooms. I really enjoyed this game and it felt like I was right there with the 3 characters trying to solve the mystery and the characters voices are really well done, did not find their chatter tedious at all, I quite enjoyed it. If you're a Sherlock Holmes fan I highly recommend this game and if you're not, play it and you will be :-)

I"m a huge fan of The Legacy, The Bride, The Stone Queen and The Color of Fright so I was looking forward to playing this game. Maybe fortunately for some but unfortunately for others there is just way too much to do in this game. I had to use the hint button so many times and I'm not a newbie, I have so many HO games. Just like another reviewer, I made the level of challenge excellent because it is quite difficult to remember where to use the inventory items and in which room one needs to get too.
I found this game to be so frustrating, way too many back and forth's and it just doesn't match up with the story-line. I stopped playing this game and started a new game and then I came back and I just couldn't continue as it's too boring which is such a waste of money as I bought the CE.
I must say that the graphics are stunning but it didn't match the story-line which is supposed to be a ghostly gloomy story, graphics way too bright and cheery.
I know those that are new to hidden object games will thoroughly enjoy this game but considering I own 90 HOG I"m looking for a good story-line with matching graphics and a fun challenge with interesting HOS and tasks.
