Overall: Beautifully crafted game with whimsical monsters, numerous and attention-grabbing locations with each scene presenting several journeys. Most settings have a HOG and a mini game. The storyline moves forward easily with little backtracking. The graphics are sometimes a little on the bright side, but this is a whimsical and magical story and that corresponds well. Design and crafting are outstanding. The story is predictable but in a way that I found very entertaining and enjoyable. It’s a long game that I will replay. I gave it a five for its creativity and craftsmanship!
Graphics: Excellent. Some colors are bright but a good blend. Certainly didn’t distract from the game, since it’s whimsical and magical.
Sounds: Good
Music: Good with the exception of rather repetitive during games. I turned down music during HOG.
Characters: Beautiful, realistic humans. Monsters, some make you laugh, others well your children won’t have nightmares.
Hints: Excellent and refresh quickly!
Map: Really didn’t need it. The storyline moves forward with minimal backward steps, love that in a game.
HOG: Interactive and an excellent mix of games. Great use of HOG for items needed to complete tasks. A few items are too well hidden but overall most items are clearly presented and easy to see.
Mini: Excellent from easy to a few complicated ones. Not a mini fan, but I enjoyed trying to solve most of them.
Overall: Most reviews overlooked the major flaw no map and no transport with hint. So constant back and forth. Graphics are good, sounds listenable, music repetitious at times; hint is only option to move back and forth, not a forward, linear game. No map and no transport of any kind available. Hidden Object Games pop up about every third or fourth move, so if you like them, you’ll enjoy this game. Mini Games were from easy to time consuming. Inventory had many items and some were unclear so hint is your friend in the game! Took a long time to finish because the back and forth action just got tiring. The storyline was good and there were numerous scenes to revisit a number of times. If you have patience this game is worth purchasing. More good qualities vs.bad ones.
Graphics: Good to very good.
Sounds: Well done.
Music: At times becomes repetitious but okay, turned way down.
Characters: You really don’t interact with many, so either human or ghost and the voice overs were well done.
Hints: Should be a little faster since only option to move to another location.
Map: None.
Hidden Object Games: Numerous scenes with lots of objects and they pops up about every three or four moves. You will have to work to find some of the objects but they are right there in plain sight. You will have to click on a few objects to reveal another, but mouse over reveals them.
Mini Games: From easy to difficult and some were repetitious and time consuming. Mini Gamers will enjoy them.
Overall: Long and tedious and a little disappointing even with the positives. If you like long games without many clues where to go and how inventory objects will be used, you'll enjoy this one. Beautifully crafted graphics. Excellent scenes with defined textures and well thought out details. Hidden Object games offer multiple visible objects with a few find me if you can; you just have to look for them! Mini Games are from easy to frustrating and difficult, often repetitive. For a CE game, the map is disappointing. It did not transport. You must use hint to navigate and soon the hint sound annoys. Music is okay but for a turn of the century story a jazz theme was a little disconcerting. Characters are rather cartoonish but very well done and more believable than most. Most voice overs are pleasant and they do talk a lot. I would have given this a four rating except for the map that doesn’t transport in a CE game, jazz that just threw the game off a notch, and an ending that left too many questions. Worth your time and investment for the positive aspects of this game.
Graphics: Excellent
Sounds: Appropriate for task or situation.
Music: Jazz theme just didn’t make any sense for the timeline.
Characterization: A bit cartoonish. Bumbling young police officer; more dumb than bumbling was a good opportunity to use him as a comic relief. Most characters were individual and provided enough backstory to understand their position in the storyline.
Storyline: Was interesting and forward flowing but with lots of back and forth and without a transport map, a bit annoying. The end was abrupt as in many games and even the bonus game left you scratching your head as to how the process was developed and implemented, who else was involved, etc., which should have been clarified. If this was a lead into another installment, the developers might have forecast this element a little more from beginning to end story.
Overall: I purchased this game because of the high reviews and that it was about a cute dog. Well do your due diligence, try out the game first. The very cute dog is captured right away and doesn’t reappear until near end of game. Most of the dogs are statues. A few fierce dogs appear briefly. One of the most disjointed games I’ve played in a while. Some of the tasks/scenes just didn’t make much sense. Lots of back and forth and the map isn't any help! I disliked the graphics because either they were way too bright or dark with indistinct areas. Since the map only shows locations, hint is your friend. Hidden object games are plentiful but with some dark corners and a few unclear objects, but mostly entertaining. Repetitious mini games I skipped. Ending was abrupt and only redeeming part was the children got their two dogs back. Maybe I better take my own advice and try out a game before I purchase it. This was a free game token, so I took a chance. My error in judgment, so do try it out to see if you like the game play before you buy.
Graphics: Way too bright colors or dark areas that are sadly underdeveloped.
Sounds: Appropriate to task.
Music: Repetitious, so turned off.
Characters: Cartoonish and disappointing.
Hints: You better like them because it’s the only way to move back and forth and there is a lot of that going on in this game. I really got tired of moving back and forth to complete one item, not a move forward game in my opinion.
Map: Yes, just shows locations.
Hidden Object Games: If you like them, there are a lot of them for you to play. A few dark corners were annoying because had to click around or use hint to find the object, however most items are visible.
Mini Games: Not a fan of mini games and this was one of my least favorite. I usually try to complete some, but this had so many repetitious/similar games I finally just skipped.
Overall: Scenes and characters were extraordinarily well crafted, beautiful artwork and everything was visible, no hidden dark corners. A couple of times couldn’t use hint to move back, so just used map. Hint button is your friend in this game. The storyline isn’t new and provided special abilities, don’t forget to use them. A few games are a little confusing but they are different and that is good. Occasionally inventory objects were puzzling but eventually there is a place for them. Just enjoy the lovely artwork and the journey before you. The ending completed the storyline…for now. I suspect there will be a continuation, but that will be something to look forward to enjoying. Closure took place so not left saying…what?
Graphics: Beautifully crafted artwork. Visibility is excellent. Color is realistic.
Sounds: Very nicely matched except for the “clunk” that hint makes. Sometimes that got tiresome but I use hint a lot.
Music: Appropriate for tasks and events and didn’t turn it way down or off.
Characters: Exquisite artwork with excellent voice overs.
Hints: Uses a little open book for cursor. For the most part takes you where you need to go. A couple of times it wasn’t clear what to do when you reached the next location, but eventually it works out.
Hidden Object Games: Match items, some word lists, some surprises.
Mini Games: Some involve too much turning, moving from one side to the other to complete while others are rather fun and enjoyable and a bit different. Not a mini fan.
Overall: Graphics design is all over the place from beautiful to disappointing. Characters were cartoonish, many looked the same and accents were horrible. Rather absurd and disjointed storyline but at least it moved forward with some continuity. Hints and map worked well. Hidden Object Games offered some challenge but many were the same object interaction type of game. Mini Games were repetitious and might appeal to mini fans. Several complete the formula or recipe tasks. I am giving this a lower rating because of poor graphics in various areas, repetitious and annoying music and very disappointing character design.
Graphics: This game provided a wide range of graphics from excellent to over colored to flat, a few were beautifully crafted while many others appeared unfinished.
Sounds: Well done and appropriate to scene and/or task.
Music: Annoying. Found music repetitious and turned it down most of the time. At the Hall of Eagles it sounded like the record got stuck and continued through the next few scenes, so I just turned it off and since it was annoying I didn’t miss it.
It would be nice if Big Fish could separate visual, sound and music to let reviewers rate them individually.
Characters: Cartoonish, horrible accents, many appeared identical and they ranged from jungle tribal chiefs (all same copy) to Leonardo da Vinci. Add Cortez who captured the islands. Tesla and Cleopatra were players in this story as well. Overall the characterization design and development was very disappointing.
Hints: Worked well but didn’t transport.
Map: Worked great and it did transport and show next task.
Hidden Object Games: Objects were clear and easy to see, some were hidden primarily because most games were based on interaction with another object to complete.
Mini Games: Annoying and repetitious. I am not a fan and managed to do a few but when they began to repeat: rotate objects, use mirrors and direct beams, move ropes etc., so none crossed I just skipped them. Nothing new here.
Overall: Good graphics, sound, music and scenes. The storyline pulled you in with two characters switching to complete varying tasks, a nice change. Characters were diverse and appealing. Nicely done scenes and well thought out locations. The game offered great visibility and clarity in hidden object games and mini games. The game moved forward with continuity and purpose and without a lot of backtracking. Inventory objects made sense and it was obvious where most needed to be placed which was refreshing.
Graphics: Very well done, some are on the bright primary color tones but they pretty much balance out.
Sounds: Didn’t have to turn off or down.
Music: Didn’t have to turn off or down.
Characters: Well-crafted characters with emotions, but they should have passed on running upstairs and attempting to make some of them talk. Voice overs were nicely done. Some were beautifully crafted, while others a bit over the top, but for the most part all the characters were distinctive and detailed.
Hints: Worked well and quickly.
Map: Good resource for next task and teleport.
Hidden Object Games: Very visible objects with a variety of find objects, combine objects, and some word lists. The object scenes were interesting and offered enough challenge to be fun, some a little cartoonish, so this would be a good game you can play with the family.
Mini Games: Well done creations with easy to frustrating games. Enjoyed the easy one but skipped the more difficult ones. Not a mini fan. The last one involved a large circle with a mirror to destroy all the little creatures and the villain within which required positioning the mirror to connect to various points and encompass all. I found it annoying and was disappointed that I had to skip this last, and what I thought should be pivotal at end game. Mini fans will like the games.
Overall: Surprised by the five star reviews. Hard to rate when the graphics are so beautiful but the sound and music and character development is poorly thought out. I agree this was a beautifully crafted game, but with annoying music and sounds and disappointing wooden, unemotional characters. If you turn the music and sound very low eventually you don’t miss them and the game provides you with a long, long journey that is interesting and enjoyable with many locations. Beautiful cut scenes as well and good voice overs. The map didn’t show unfinished tasks but will transport you, so I just used the hint to move around unless I was positive where to go. The hidden object games were beautifully constructed as were the mini games. Hidden Object Games were very plentiful, entertaining and very visible. Mini games were assorted and some were very frustrating while others were simple and enjoyable. This could have been a higher rated game if the developers had paid attention to repetitive sounds…duct tape the seagulls…and set the tone of the music to situational events. The major failure was the lack of character development specifically gestures and emotions. I don’t really care if characters move their lips because half the time they are off track, but gestures and emotions should be part of the storyline. That was very disappointing because some of the characters were beautifully created yet came across like dead wood. Looks like the ending is leading into another installment, I hope they will work on character development as well as the repetitive sounds and music, if so they might truly rate a five.
Graphics: Beautifully done.
Sound: Annoying. Way too much repetition of one sound like water dripping in cave continuously, seagulls squawking repeatedly at the wharf, so had to turn down quite a bit. Sometimes less is good.
Music: Repetitious and more annoying than scene appropriate, so turned it way down. This is part of what makes a game exciting and when you are forced to almost turn it off, it removes a good portion of the game appeal.
Characters and voice overs: Characters were wooden and sometimes cartoonish. Voices were well done and pleasant. Some characters were attractive but exhibited the same two or three movements and lacked emotional expression which is extremely sad for a game with such potential and great graphics and scenes.
Hints: Work quickly, but another annoying feature is that each time you use the hint it clicks like breaking glass. Again, that could have easily been eliminated and was really unnecessary.
Hidden Object Games: Lots of them! Beautifully crafted, great visibility, mostly match objects vs. word lists.
Mini Games: Well-crafted and some are easy enough while others more difficult, so a good mix for all.
Collections: Mosaics and mistletoe. Hard to see, so surprised sometimes when I accidently clicked on one.
Map: Can use to transport if you know where you are going. There are two maps, one for the beginning of the game locations and a second one for latter locations. When you have finally returned to one of the beginning locations the map reverts. Was sort of confusing and I tried to switch the maps but that didn’t work. Maybe I did something wrong, so gave the developers the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes the next move was vague so just used the hint to move. Maps don't indicate unfinished tasks either.
Overall: Beautiful graphics, enjoyable storyline, shorter game but interesting throughout with entertaining HOG and Mini games.More HOG than Mini games for a change.Visuals are exceptional especially for anyone who might have difficulty seeing small objects.Only a few characters to keep track of and locations and scenes are well developed.Could have done without the baron villain theme, but it worked and wasn’t overdone.Mechanical pet is quiet and not used that often.Build a few components to create needed items and as the pet forecasts a mechanical theme, but nothing too difficult.Rather simple and relaxing game and moves forward without lots of back and forth.Rather abrupt ending but that is the norm in some of these games and at least there was closure.
Graphics: Excellent.
Sound: Appropriate to task and/or scene.
Music: Good, a bit repetitious, but never had to turn down.
Hints: Works quickly and takes you where you need to go.Since not a lot of going way back it works fine.
Hidden Object Games: Excellent. Visibility is super. Items are large enough to see, but a few well hidden.Varied games manage to keep it interesting.
Mini Games: Great graphics, some easy, some time consuming, but overall I managed to get about half done and I’m not a fan, so the more difficult ones will be a good challenge for mini fans.
Pet: A mechanical bird that helps with items too high to reach, but he is not annoying nor does he make lots of noise. He is just an added asset and cute.
I recommend this game!

Beautiful! Great Fun! Good for entire family! Five Plus!
Overall: Five Plus! Beautifully developed game with exquisite scenes, entertaining tasks and interesting and fun characters. Another “Five” for Boolat! This is a great game for the entire family. Welcomed change from macabre and sinister themes.Sound and music fit the scenes and were enjoyable. And, I didn’t even have to kiss a frog! The story moves forward with ease and continues with surprise locations and enjoyable tasks. The voice overs were excellent and graphics are one of the best. The bonus game is very whimsical and cute. This is a game that you just don’t want to end.
Graphics: Excellent.
Sound: Excellent: A cork popping sounds exactly like that! Character voice overs very well done and pleasant.
Music: Excellent: Relaxing and true to the scene or task.
Hints: Excellent moves you back 1 or 2 locations or transports you where you need to go.
Hidden Object Games: Excellent. Great variety and very well developed. Can see what you need but sometimes well-hidden so makes it all the more fun. No dark corner where items are not visible.
Mini Games: Great. Not a fan but I managed to do half of them and skipped the ones that took longer, but mini fans will enjoy all.
Morph: The morph characters are fast and cute, so catch them if you can. If you miss one you can check the morph file.
Strategy book: Yes, there is one but I rarely used it.
Map: Great, but again I didn’t use it much except when I missed a morphing object.
Pet: You get one, Dax a little dragon, but he isn’t there all the time and he is quiet.
