I won't go into the mechanics of the game since the other reviewers did an excellent job of that. After reading all of the 5 star reviews, I was expecting something madly different. I thought it was OK. Yes, there are a lot of collectables. There are objects to seek out to finish collectables. There are rare books to find where you also need to seek out the parts for them. The HOS were ok. I felt putting pieces of what you found on a table to be put together a bit childish. Then there are morphing objects in the HOS. I lean more toward adventure games. This had way too many things to seek out to thrill me. In my opinion, it interrupts the flow of the story. The puzzles were good. New and different. The game froze 3 times on me while playing and I have a new computer. Also, some scenes loaded very slowly. I'm just OK with the game. I recommend it, but it will be a pass for me and I'll retry it when the SE comes out.

This game, as a SE, is a much better buy than the CE was. The CE did not offer anything worthy of being called a CE. The visuals are very nice. Cutscenes are well done, but a bit too frequent for my taste. HOS are interactive. Well done. Puzzles are fairly easy, but I enjoyed them. The story is well done and interesting. A nice long game with a good story that keeps you moving. Jump map is helpful. I recommend.
I recommend this game!

The Torment of Mont Triste Collector's Edition
No one dares fall asleep in the village of Mont Triste... for when sleep arrives, so does the mysterious Lord of Nightmares.
This game by Sulus, was good. I'm not seeing the graphics as "cartoonish" as some described them. Colors were vibrant, but become "fuzzy" as you go through a portal to help solve someone's nightmare. The HOS are fairly standard, only slightly interactive. The puzzles were a bit puzzling to me but I do admit I am not a great fan of puzzles. Still though, some were difficult. There is a transportable map which seems like a good idea since this Mont Triste place is large. :) I didn't find the game difficult but neither was it simplistic. Just about right for a kick back and relax game. There are achievements and collectibles (gargoyles). Plus a bonus chapter and all that other stuff the devlopers for some reason think I may need. I'm on the fence as to whether to wait for the SE. With the sale this weekend, I may buy the CE as there is another one I also have been waiting to purchase. However, if there was not a sale in progress, Id wait for the SE.
Oh happy day. A HOPA that is EXCELLENT. The colors and music were great. You get 3 modes of play. I play my demos in casual so can only comment on that. HOS were very slightly interactive, and not too many in the demo. Puzzles were fun. You need to pair up with your best friend detective and solve the mystery at the hotel. I found that I really needed to think about my next step, my next move, which is a good thing. This wasn't (for me) an "oh and it goes there" game. I was shocked when the demo was over, it went so quickly. Kind of reminded me of the Dark Tales-Edgar Allen Poe games. There are achievements. There are also collectables, which are painting and are not hard to find as they are out in the open. There is also a section called special room, and I'm not quite sure what that is as it wasn't covered in the demo. There also is the usual assortment of CE items, i.e., wallpaper, bonus chapter, music, etc. This is a definite buy for me. Highly recommend.

Again, we have Emily trapped in her dream world while her aunt, a scientist, attempts to cure her. The graphics are bright, colorful, and almost cartoonish. There's a bit too much interaction by the aunt's boss (or whoever that other scientist is). He became annoying to me. Early on you get a giant teddy bear helper who keeps jumping in to help too. The HOS are standard junkpiles. Nothing exciting about them. The mini games were OK. Most were been there, done that. This game, in my opinion, doesn't even come close to having CE quality. I'm not even sure I'd like it as an SE as I wasn't very fond of the story or the constant interruptions. Just not my dream game.

There is much going on with the story in this game. I love dark, scary themes, so this grabbed me. HOS were easy, and from a list with some interaction. Mini games were fairly easy also. There is a lot of traipsing back and forth to find objects but that's fine. The only thing I didn't like about this game, was the cursor seemed slow and floaty. It became annoying. I don't have this problem with other games, so not sure if one of the options should be shut off. For now, it's a no buy for me because of that problem.

You need to retrieve the lost elements of the earth. This is a cute TM/builder game with trolls and gremlins. The tutorial was very helpful because there's a lot of different things going on. There is a relaxed mode AND you can que your tasks ahead of time --- two huge pluses for me. The music is cute. The voices, as usual, get annoying after awhile. But it's a stressfree, nice game. I'd recommend it.

I enjoyed the other 4 MM games. They're not my favorite, but they were enjoyable. This game for me is not anywhere near passable as a CE. The graphics were awful. The HOS were infuriating... The amount of clicking required was maddening. I never did find any extra ravens for hints, but they seem to regenerate on their own. The mini games were simplistic, but the directions were horrendous. There's not really a thing I liked about this. This needs to go back to the drawing board and be redone.

This one was a surprise. No whistles or bells. Just a basic straight-forward HOPA. The storyline is very interesting. Graphics are good. Music is appropriate for the setting. HOS are easy and visited more than once. There is a journal and a map which allows you to travel and shows you where you need action, which is a good thing, since there are many areas to cover. The game took me a little over 3 hours. It kept my interest the entire time. Puzzles were simple but fun. This is a kick back and relax type of game. I enjoyed it.

I had played the CE and figured I'd give this one another whirl when it came out as an SE. I'm not sure if it was the graphics, the storyline, the theme of the game, but I absolutely disliked this game. Way to short, even for an SE. This is a pass for me.
