A great SE that wasn't a CE. I love these soft releases and just got a chance to demo this one. It was a buy for me. The story line is creepy with witches, and black magic, but I like that. I didn't find the graphics grainy. It's a dark game, but in subject and play. The HOS are well done. You get quests to do to appease the townspeople. It was a very short demo, so I'm assuming the game itself isnt too long. That's ok though. I am enjoying the game immensely. It's so nice to play something different and unique instead of the cookie cutter usuals that are released.
I recommend this game!

This is a fantasy game where you and your Uncle Alfred were building a portal to shoot you off to another dimension, when lo and behold, Uncle Alfred did not wait for you but used the portal alone. Now he's in great danger and you, the niece, must go into the portal and track him down. You, the niece, are quite the chatter box, and can't help but make comments all throughout the game. But I digress. The colors and graphics are very nice. There is not mouth movement, which kind of bothers me. The people are cartoonish. The music is peaceful and relaxing. I'd say this leans heavily as an adventure game and I do love adventure games. Just really not a great fan of fantasy/sci fi games. However, this one I really enjoyed. The HOS are few and far in between and were done very very well. 2 were list, and one was fragments. The puzzles, oh the puzzles. This is where I come into difficulty. There is no reset button. At all. If you are stuck, you are just going to have to skip it. And the last puzzle I encountered, the one with creating the recipe, did not work so well for me. I had difficulty moving the spoon, but perhaps it was just me. There are 2 modes of play, and with the CE, a bonus chapter that apparently is quite difficult to locate, and the usual "stuff"... wallpaper, concept art, etc. There are game related achievements and morphing objects which are VERY difficulty to spot. I found 2 and the tutorial pointed the first one out. I do like the game a lot. I found it challenging and different than the usual same old same old that is released. I however, will wait for the SE. I'm not a big fan of searching until my eyes hurt for morphing objects and except for the bonus chapter, have no need for al the CE extras. Enjoy :)))
I recommend this game!

Oh how I love these soft releases recently. I find them better than the "big" game makers releases. You and your brother are thieves and while you are loading up on the silver, your brother is captured and taken away. Unfortunately he was your lookout, so as you make your way down the rope with your goods, you are also captured and thrown in a cell. A total stranger comes to your rescue saying he is an old friend of your father and he will help you in exchange for you stealing a document for him. Since you are an accomplished lock picking thief, you agree. This is more of an adventure game. I came across 2 HOS in the demo, one a list type, the other, a silhouette. This game flows so perfectly, it drew me in from the very beginning. There are puzzles here and there.,.. mostly lock picking puzzles. I enjoyed that because the game wasn't interrupted by puzzles and HOS. I do love adventure games. There are 3 modes of play. If you do not want directional help, I would suggest playing in the hardest mode, as there is a lot of hand holding in the easier modes. You do have a journal and sort of a map. It is not a jump map or really a map that tells you what needs to be done. More of a clue map that will help your through mazes, etc. You also get a box with costume changes, which if you play the demo, you will see are kind of mini puzzles in itself. You also have a box of gems that you will collect along the way (these gems are not hidden objects to find), however, I do not know what the purpose of the gems are yet. You do find a cute raccoon? ferret? but he is the hint button. He, thankfully, is not a helper. This appears to be a long intriguing game, very different than the standard cookie cutter games we are seeing of late. I absolutely loved it and will buy. Attempting to keep warm in the arctic cold..... happy gaming !!!!
I recommend this game!

You are invited by your friend Ben to come to the town of Brownville where there are lots of jobs in an otherwise poor economy. You arrive there and your new boss, Simon, invites you to play cards. Bad choice. This card game takes you into other worlds, where you must survive all different things to win. The graphics and colors are bright, vivid and good. The music is fine. However, if I don't care for music in a game, I shut it off. The HOS are interactive, however, there IS a penalty for over/rapid clicking. That's a point off for me. The mini games are cute and easy. You run into a little rabbit./toad/something kind of helper who will assist you. Game play is pretty linear. A lot of hand holding going on. Story is very different but could have been so much more. I went into this with very high expectations and hopes. It was just OK for me. You get your usual stuff you never need in the CE edition, plus a small bonus chapter. There are achievements... all game related. There is one collectible, cards. Perhaps it was the fact that this game steered off into a type of fairy tale with the cutesy helper (even though the guy wasn't too cute), or the story just dragged, but I lost interest after 20 minutes. I did play until the end of the demo, but the game did nothing for me. Also, had a hard time with hitting the exact spots in the HOS and mini games. The over click penalty and poor cursor set up gives this a do not recommend.
I don't recommend this game.

I just had to try this game and I'm so glad I did. It has bright graphics and bold colors. Music is delightful. It seems you are driving and your vehicle turns into a candy car and you end up at the house of 3 good witches trying to do different things? That's what I get from the gist of the story. Oh but it is cute. There are many many HOS. They are simple and bright. I came across one puzzle in the demo. The demo only lasted 20 minutes, so it is a very very short game. However, it is just so likable, I believe I will purchase anyway. There are quite a bit of tasks you must accomplish and yes they do require some thinking. Such as helping a beaver build his dam and fixing a clock, etc. I see reviewers stating this should have come out before Christmas. Well, whenever it was released, Christmas-time is my favorite season and I could play Christmas games all year long. There are also parts of the world that celebrate the Epiphany, etc, and their Christmas is much longer than one day. Due to the short demo, I cannot really say more about the game. I had no technical issues, and the cursor was spot on. I really enjoyed it.
I recommend this game!

This little TM game looked promising so I took a whirl at it. It gives absolutely no tutorial. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing or what the objective was except I was supposed to get to the next island. Major epic fail.

You were left on a doorstep as a baby with only a necklace. For 25 years, you've wondered who your biological parents were. Then you receive an invitation to board a dream machine and locate your biological mother. You hop right on that chance. You are sent to the bottom of the ocean in a capsule (makes me claustrophobic thinking of it). There, all is not what it seems. It appears people begin having difficulty telling the difference between dreams and reality. Game visuals are nice. Not great, but nice. Music is suited perfectly for the time period. HOS are a mix of list and find the parts. They were nicely done. Puzzles were of the standard usual variety. I found them easy which means they were very easy since I am not a pro at puzzling. This is a good adventure game. My only caveat was the number of cut scenes involved. I realize they are using the cut scenes to tell the entire story, but it interrupts the flow of the game and I began to feel as if I were watching a movie instead of playing a game. As far as CE offering there is a bonus chapter and "all the other stuff" I have no use for. Also you collect roses which are really not hidden at all. I very much enjoyed the game. It was different and unique. I don't feel it is up to CE quality however, unless the bonus chapter is a blockbuster. Even with the sale, I will be waiting for the SE as there is not another game I see that I have been awaiting the CE. Happy gaming :)))
I recommend this game!

I had played the CE demo when it first came out. I disliked the game highly. However, loving the previous Haunted Halls games, when I saw the SE I figured, well, why not give it another try. If anything, I disliked it more. The graphics and visuals are great. You do get your choice of difficulty including custom mode. There is a map and journal. And that's where the fun ended for me. This game seems like it is trying to be all things to all players and it does not work. The solutions to objects you find are so far fetched, it's ridiculous. I found the story very disjointed and all over the place. Also, this is sooo far off from the other Haunted Halls, they should not have made it a Haunted Halls installment. The repeating puzzle with the goggles put me over the edge. Ok, maybe once, twice, .... but over and over? No. This is still a pass for me. I also do not recommend this jumbled game.
I don't recommend this game.

I am a fan of the Redemption Cemetery games. This one, however, took me by surprise, and not in a good way. I liked the visuals and the snow. However, a spooky game set on Christmas Eve just does not do it for me. The gameplay being set during the holidays was just wrong in some way. I had a hard time throughout the entire game getting things straight. Yes, I believe this series has worn out its welcome before the Last Redemption Cemetery was released. Game play is easy, very very linear in true ERS fashion. It is a cookie cutter of the other games they put out minus a cute animal here and there. There are achievements to earn for the CE and snowflakes to collect to fix up your little house. And a bonus chapter. All the other "bling" that comes with this does nothing for me. I have seen very very good SE stand alone games come out the past few days that are very different and challenging. I will stick to them for now. Perhaps I will retry this as an SE. For the CE, no buy for me.

The third installment of Adelantado has arrived !! Oh happy day. I had to take a break from trimming the trees and decking the halls to buy this game. I absolutely loved the first two. Don Diego is back with his crew of helpers to forage new paths through the wilderness and find his missing bride. You still have building to build, ie, gardens, farms, bakeries, etc. But there are also some new ones. At times when Don is breaking open pots, they explode causing him to need a healer. So, of course, you need a healer's hut. Choices of difficulty are still the same, with a relaxed mode too... yay. There are caves to explore with many levels to these caves. There are also transporters to whisk Don from one part of the field to another. You still have your cavemen and dinosaurs. The secrets are very very well hidden. I played the first chapter on relaxed and it took me going over the entire level to find them all. This was an immediate buy for me. Try it yourself as always. Sadly I must pry myself out of this chair and continue with Christmas preparation. :))
I recommend this game!
