This is a "F2P" sim type game. I'm not familiar with the Archie comics, so I wasn't as keen on the story as others. The band comes back from a tour and finds Rivendale in a shambles. So they must clean up the town and fix things. You are given quests to fulfill. This involved just clicking on, for example, a broken street lamp, and then waiting 29 minutes or however long until the task is complete. You can of course buy power ups (soda, etc) to speed up these tasks. I played the full demo and this just wasn't a game to my liking. The graphics and colors were nice though. :)
I don't recommend this game.

I loved the first game in this series, and this one is just as good. This is one of my favorite game developers, not for their larger, more well-known games, but for their lesser known ones. You, the detective, are called to beautiful Roma to investigate a thief who is robbing the rich of their jewels and leaving them incapacitated or worse. The graphics are sharp and vibrant. Muzac is nice. You do get a jump map which you can customize to show where tasks are needed. You also have a journal which is handy. 4 modes of play including custom. I love that feature. The HOS are very interactive. Whereas most games will print interactive items in color on the list, this one lists each item identically so you really don't know which item is an interactive one and which one isn't. The games I came across were fairly simple. You get this very cool gem maker box where, once you find blueprints, can use rays of light to make keys and other items you need. Sadly, you get a ermine helper. I'm not sure if he stays with you the whole game or not. I AM pretty sure he doesn't need to be dressed up. :) It may be because I am very tired, but I found this game difficult. I had to consult the strategy guide during the demo. Oh my !!! The strategy guide included with the game was basic and you could enlarge the photos somewhat. I've never used an in-game strategy guide, always the walk throughs on BFG if needed. I'm hoping there is a walk through soon before I actually play the entire game bc I wasn't very happy with the one provided. I loved the scenery, whatever period it was supposed to be. Things such as that make no difference to me. I highly recommend this great game.
I recommend this game!

Back in the day I demo'd a few Mystery Trackers games and did not care for them at all. I felt they were very HOS heavy with lots of trekking around for no apparent reason, collecting nonsensical things (as in the 4 Aces). So, when I saw this game, I figured, well ok. I'm here in the middle of a real blizzard, may as well try it. I D/L the original Raincliff first and did not find it too bad. My only complaint was lack of a map. Finished that demo and D/L this one. I actually liked it. It has a great map. I did not see a journal, but you do view the reporter's videos. I did like the frost mode although while demo'ing the game I shut it off. The dog helper could stay or go IMHO. Im not a big fan of them. I believe the snowy setting and the mysteriousness of the game is what appealed to me. The gameplay itself was very easy. The HOS and puzzles were simple. There should also be an option for a match 3 or mahjong instead of playing the HOS. Another thing, albeit minor, was the gong noise when you used the wrong tool on an item. Was annoying. I love all games creepy and other-worldy, so this game agreed with me nicely. I loved the graphics and background windy noises. Very nicely done. Since I do not plan on buying any of the other games offered in the bundle sale, I will wait a CE sale as I definitely loved, loved the toads. I had to LOL at some of them. All in all a great game. I'm very glad I tried it. I'd give it 4.5 stars. Not quite 5 stars for lack of difficulty.
I recommend this game!

This is an older game, but one I enjoy. I just replayed it and realized how much I really liked it. You play 2 detectives (one male, one female) investigating a murder. You must find evidence, interrogate suspects and find out who did it. It's a fairly linear game. You aren't allowed to roam around. The only drawback to this installment, for me at least, is that it is HOG heavy. Many small HO in each scene. However, they were easy to find and get done with and move on with the story. There are 2 modes of play... story, or find all the objects. I think they could improve on this game a lot by making it more of an adventure type game without so many HOS. However, it is an enjoyable 5 hour game.
I recommend this game!

I absolutely love the Nancy Drew games. Probably because they are pure total adventure games. No distracting HOS. No morphing objects. Just you on your own to figure out what to do. The graphics have certainly improved since the first ND games came out. This one includes some day to night scenes which at first were annoying, then I enjoyed them. Yes, I find them difficult. However, once you get your bearings, some logic will help you along the way. The puzzles are difficult. If you play in Amateur mode, you do get hints. There are also walk throughs available (seek and you shall find :) ) As with all the ND games, this one ran perfectly without glitches or problems. I hope we see more of pure adventure games offered on BFG.
I recommend this game!

I haven't played the first game in this series, but I did not feel lost as they give a pretty good recap in the beginning of the dastardly deeds of el padre. Game mechanics have all been nicely reviewed so I'll skip all that. I found the game mediocre. I liked the story, the music, the HOS, and the setting. I disliked the puzzles. I found them illogical and the directions they gave to solve them made no sense to me, however after playing around with the puzzle, it did have a simple solution. Big drawback, everything in the game was small. Not the items in the HOS, but everything. My eyesight is just perfect, but it still was difficult for me to pick up all these teeny tiny objects. Also, I found I needed to be spot on as far as picking up inventory items out of my inventory. Sometimes it took quite a few tries to get the item. Then I needed to be totally exact in placing the object. I did not understand the map. It didn't seem to be a jump map. I did like the hint, but I would gather that as you moved further into the game and other various locations, the hint would be difficult as it shows a picture of where you need to be. I'll give this 3.5 stars as it did have some very good aspects to it. Just not a game for me.
I recommend this game!

Oh My !! This was an excellent game. You receive a letter in the middle of the night to meet your sister, who you haven't seen in 10 years. She disappeared without a trace from your life after your mother died. You arrive at the address she gave you to find an old dilapidated house where someone or something is lurking around. You find all sorts of things placed around to help ward off evil spirits, demons, etc. This was creepy with a capital C. The beginning of the game starts with a video of an asylum where everyone is dead and they are being dragged out of the hallways by an unseen person? ghost? demon? Very very few HOS. The ones I did encounter were simple and interactive. Very few mini games or puzzles. Those, too, were easy, even for me :) This is more of an adventure type game. You do have a journal which is very useful and a jump map which is extremely useful since there are many many locations both in and out of the house. I definitely give this a 5 star rating based on the story line alone. I was shocked that an hour had passed when the trial ended.
I recommend this game!

I stopped by the forums and read the reviews for this game early this morning. It sounded very interesting, especially since this is not a game I would have ever considered even downloading the trial on. With that said, I did D/L the trial and just finished playing it.... what a Fun, different game !!! There are puzzles, find pairs, find silhouettes, more puzzles. There is a great tutorial with the end goal being "Who is the Void". I purchased with a PCC because I was sincerely enjoying this game. I don't think it's a game I could play for more than an hour at a time. I believe I would go blind :) However, it is fun, challenging, different. Music is background music and I barely noticed it. Colors were great, graphics were great. I needed something new in gaming and this one fits the bill perfectly.
I recommend this game!

I just got around to trying this game after reading it as another reviewer's favorite games. I really appreciate when reviewers put a mix of different games in their favorite games as it gives me a chance to go back and check out these older games. This one was a winner. Easy HOS, quite a few. Lots of puzzles. Very very helpful hint button, and I did need it. Transport map, but does not show if a task is needed or not. You carry around lots of inventory. You even carry around people in your inventory. A lot of back and forthing. And I do mean A LOT :) More of an adventure game. A very very long game. Very challenging and required use of the old brain cells. I highly recommend.

This is a nice creepy game... the kind I like. You are set to be married and someone kills your bride. Now to set her soul free from the train of Charon, you must find her (dead) attackers. The graphics and color are just delightful. The music is unobtrusive, I did not notice it. There are nice HOS, some interactive, some where you put things back into a scene. There are very few HOS which to me is a plus. To HO lovers, however, this may not be a good thing The puzzles are cute and original but very very simple. One puzzle you repeat quite a few times, and a few others you just copy the info out of your journal. The game itself is very very linear. Not much challenge here. You get a journal and a map. Also, you get a pair of "supernatural detector" glasses? I think the developer did a wonderful job with this story. I did not feel this game was worthy of CE status so I did not purchase at that point. Yes there is a strategy guide and a bonus chapter. That is it. No achievements, no extras of any sort. Unless a game has a wonderful bonus game, I tend to lean toward the SE as I am not a fan of wallpaper, etc. Today, being offered as an SE, I took another look at it. The game is easy. Very easy. The story is good. Not great. But decent. Some parts of the story are so far out in left field, they stop being believable. I'm on the fence with this one. I believe the games being offered as of late are lacking any sort of challenge. As always, try it for yourself.
I recommend this game!
