I have all the Grim Tales games and have loved them all (with the exception of The Stone Queen, which I just found to be odd). With that said, I was rather confused by the story going on here. I seems the family name has changed, the Aunt can now see the past and other things, Elizabeth and her husband are dead, etc. etc. I found this all confusing as the other games always followed the story of the helpless sister needing the aunt to come save the day. Anyway, they're all deceased now and the nephew is being charged with murdering his sister in hopes of inheriting the estate. I'm not quite sure where Brandon went who we met as a baby way back when in previous games. This is one of the easier series that Elephant has put out. The Grim Tale games are predictable. There is much much too-ing and fro-ing and a jump map is included. The HOS are simple and the puzzles are easy also. In this game you can bring back items from the past, to help prove the innocence of James in the courtroom. The graphics I found to be excellent. There are a few achievements and some collectibles. I'm not quite sure this warrants a CE status as the bonus chapter is less than 30 minutes long. Also, the other Grim Tales were all very very long games. This one I see is clocked around 3-4 hours. I didn't love the game, not did I dislike it. I think I spent most of the demo time trying to figure out why the entire family changed. I believe I would get this as an SE, but play for yourself. We all have different tastes.
I recommend this game!

I love games by the Cateia , both because they offer the very few adventure type games we see on BFG and because of the quality of their gameplay, story lines, and puzzles. The hint button is useful if you do not know where to go. You do need to collect items along the way for your adventure, but there are no HOS per se, as this is not a HOG. I don't pay much attention to graphics in a game. I base my likes and dislikes on the gameplay and story line. There are quite a few puzzles in this game. I enjoyed the thinking ones. Didn't care for the ones which required manual dexterity. This is an easier type adventure game, perfect for lovers of these types of games, and those who want to try this genre of game. I do wish BFG could come up with a separate area for adventure only games, as the poor reviews mostly are based on there being no HOS in the game. However, I do recommend.

This is a true point and click adventure game. You will not find HOS in this game. You do have your choice of custom settings which is a fantastic touch. The hint works as far as helping you if you are in the same room as a needed object. This is a great game if you are new to adventure games. It is not overly difficult and there is a terrific walkthrough on BFG available if needed. Art and color were marvelous, as was the music score. I highly recommend.

I've read the other reviews on this game, and am not quite sure about this developer being back on track. It's difficult to tell if they're "on track" or not as every game they put out, with different content of course, looks, sounds, and plays the same to me. However, the story and gameplay have been reviewed very nicely by other reviewers. I did play the entire demo and was almost happy when it was over. Fairy tale games are not my favorite, but I do buy them occasionally. I did like the choice of game difficulty levels. The characters were cute. I, personally, don't find the game unfit for a child. There is always an evil character or two in every fairy tale (Red Riding Hood, Snow White, etc.). But that is just my opinion. Although there is a list a mile long of what is included in the CE, most of it are things I would never look at. The challenge level is probably a (1) out of 10. Between not liking the story and the zero level of challenge, this is a no go for me. I do know this developer has many followers and we all have different tastes, so do demo for yourself. :)

This, imho, was an excellent game. Different, unique (as you can get with these types of games), different locale, different story line, different HOS, etc. I actually enjoyed playing the HOS, where I usually just slog through them. Puzzles were intuitive and enjoyable. I love the setting of the game.... Nawleans, Mardi Gras, long ago South. I believe Mad Head succeeds with their games because they take the time to make a game properly instead of churning out one after another. This was a work of art and done with loving care and an inordinate attention to detail. The game is very inventive, HOS are unique, puzzles are very visual and enjoyable, and graphics are top notch. The lip synching, which some developers have sadly eliminated, are so close to real life, it's amazing. A huge 5 stars from me. I did buy the CE for this game, but it is not necessary to complete the bonus chapter to have a satisfying conclusion.

First off, this is a true Adventure Game. You will not find HOS or helping animals, or little fairies. With that said, it is a great adventure game for a beginner. It is not too difficult, although I did need the walkthrough at some points. It is on the shorter side, but for me that works fine. Not so long that I get bored with the game. The game runs fine on my computer. I am coming in very late with this review, and was lucky to see a very nice reviewer list it under his favorite games. I love when people include older games. It gives players a chance to try games they may have missed. The only bad reviews I see are from those who were thinking this was a HOG. BFG puts out very very few true adventure games. Us lovers of adventure games need our fun too :)

My rating and review is based on the CE of this game. If this were offered as an SE, I'd probably give it one extra star. This is an extremely easy game. You only have 2 choices of play and with the harder one also comes the click penalty. The game is very child like and a non thinking game. It also, by no means, warrants being a CE. I will NOT buy a game for $7 more just to receive an ending to the game. The graphics did not bother me, as I have applauded games with worth graphics than this one. All in all I found it to be a flat game, maybe good for a beginner. As always, demo for yourself. You may enjoy it

This release by 8floor is different than the usual cookie cutter games they come out with. I like to have a game like this on my desk top, which can be played just for a little while without getting into a full blown HOPA game. I find this game relaxing and I love the little garden where you can put animals and things you earn. I play these pictogram games for fun. If I don't score gold, etc ., it's ok. It's just a mind relaxer. This one, the pictures when you're done with the puzzle, actually do look like something too!! I recommend this game and will play it on and off when I just need down time.

I liked this game. I think it could have been improved by making it either a HOG or an adventure game. Trying to combine the two in this particular game didn't work too well. However, I do like these little gems that pop up as stand alone SE games. There is a lot of traveling to do to find what you are looking for. It is a fairly easy game as far as adventure games go, but combining it into a HOPA makes it a good challenge. There are dark places in some areas and some items are small. However, I found the game to be very creepy with perfect ambient sounds and music. I only played the demo thus far, but enjoyed it. I love when something different than the usual "find the screwdriver", "unscrew the screws" is offered. I suggest you try the demo and see if it is a game you like. It took a bit into the demo for the game to start to flow and pick up speed (for me at least).

I will start by saying that I did not care for the previous 2 installments of this series. This game was much better than them, but still confusing as far as the storyline. The artwork was absolutely beautiful. Very creative artists over at that developer. Music was nice also. Not too much ambient background noise. I liked that the gameplay was more challenging than we have seen of late in other games. The mini games were cute and different. I did not care for the double HOS. I don't like HOS junk piles to begin with and having to do them twice was just annoying to me. The problem I found mostly is that the story is disjointed. Not cohesive. I felt lost about the why and who and what the entire time. I am a very story-driven gamer.... I need a good background story to enjoy the game (with the exception of TM games and some adventure games). This story did not grab me at all. Although I give it 3 stars for my preference, the developers did do an amazing job with the characters movements and facial expressions and artwork. I shall try again when it's released as an SE. I may change my mind then.
