This game was so much fun to play! You are the detective trying to find a lost girl. You have to find and search an abandoned town to discover the mystery and find the girl.
The graphics are amazing, the cut scenes and voice overs are well done, the iHOS are fun, the mini games are fun. The inventory items are held in a "tools" area which fans out when you need to look through the items. There isn't a map per se, but you don't really need one. The built in SG comes in handy when you're stuck.
The ending of the main game was satisfying and the bonus game added more mystery to the story. The extras are wall paper, concept art, screen savers and music.
I played this game before the two than come before it (Mystery of Joyville and Souls of the Innocent). Playing them in order may provide an even better experience.
I highly recommend this game!

I enjoyed this game even though there were a few annoyances. You play as a skier trapped in an avalanche. You find your way to a village inhabited by several very odd individuals. You work to solve the mystery of the village and find a way home.
The graphics are excellent, the cut scenes and voice overs are well done (although too numerous for my liking), the music is okay, the iHOS were fun to play (and some objects were hard to find), the mini games were really easy (which was a disappointment to me). There is a task list, but no journal or map (although there are a couple maps you encounter during game play).
The story is moved along by the numerous cut scenes, which ended up annoying me before the end of the game. The mini games were fun to play, but were really easy to complete.
The iHOS were fun and some objects were hard to find, which was nice. There are a lot of HOS, which was fine with me, but might annoy some players.
Even though this isn't a CE, you can replay the iHOS and mini games after you complete the game. I thought that was a nice touch.
I recommend this game provided the things I found annoying don't overly annoy you.
I recommend this game!

This game was fun to play, is primarily an HOS game and had a few annoyances. You crash your car on a lonely road and end up at a run down hotel that has some odd inhabitants. There is also a town that was flooded when the dam broke. You spend the game trying to figure out exactly what is going on with the inhabitants of the hotel.
The graphics are nice, the cut scenes and voice overs are well done (but too numerous), the music is not overly annoying (and can be muted), the environmental sounds are well done. Game play is fairly linear. There are achievements to earn as you move through the game.
There is a task list, but no journal or map. A map would have been nice since there are several locations. The HOS are junk piles and some are poorly lit. Some items are very difficult to find. This game is mainly HOS, with a few mini games. You have the option of playing Match 3 instead of the HOS. I didn't take this option, so can't speak to the Match 3 games.
The cut scenes are numerous and most of them are long. I grew tired of them, but you can skip them. Most of the back story comes from the cut scenes, so it is a trade off. You can click through to speed them up.
The end of the game was satisfying, but not unexpected. It was fairly obvious how the game was going to end. There is a bonus chapter which serves as a prequel. It was okay, but nothing special.
This game is not worth the price of a CE, but the SE would be worth the price.
If numerous HOS and endless cut scenes don't annoy you too much, I recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed this game. You play as the sister of an FBI agent who has gone missing. Her partner asks you to help him track down the evil doctor who has kidnapped her. This is an older style game with no voice overs and lots of HOS.
The graphics are good, the cut scenes are informative (no voice overs) and have to be read and the music is okay. There are lots of HOS and most are junk piles, but they are fun to play. There are a few mini games, none of which are difficult. The story is engaging and keeps you moving through the game. There is a journal with helpful information. The hint button is useful, but you won't need it often (if at all).
This game is a change of pace from some of the newer games, but I enjoyed it. The ending was satisfying, but set you up for a sequel.
I recommend this game for those who enjoy playing mainly HOS or those looking for a change of pace from some of the newer games.
I recommend this game!

For the most part I enjoyed this game, but there were definitely some annoyances. You play as a government agent who is chasing down members of the Syndicate to recover an artifact.
The Good: The graphics are nice, the HOS are well done, the cut scenes and voice overs are really nice and add to the story. There is an excellent map and a somewhat helpful journal. The story is engaging and kept my interest (until the very end...see the annoyances).
The Annoyances: The mini games were so-so, some were great and some didn't make sense. The instructions were vague. The last part of the game didn't seem to work correctly. There were items you were supposed to collect, that were never found. This didn't hold up game play, although it made me wonder why I was tasked with finding things that weren't needed. The ending was abrupt and somewhat confusing. It left you wondering why you'd spent the game searching for an artifact that wasn't even mentioned in the final scene.
I enjoyed the game until the final chapter. The game is fun to play until the final chapter, so if you can pick it up as a BOGO and the annoyance don't bother you, I would recommend it.
I recommend this game!

This is not a typical HOS game, it is more an adventure game with items you find as you walk around various rooms. You play as Kate and you're trying to help your friend the Professor who's been kidnapped.
The graphics are acceptable, the music annoyed me so I muted it, the voice overs and cut scenes are well done and very informative. There are plenty of mini games and some were fun, but some didn't work properly. I also had issues with getting the mouse to move in some of the mini games.
Each "room" has arrows to move left or right. This give you a 360 degree view of the room. There are items you have to find in each area. There are also "bonus" items to find in some areas. These "bonus" items, once found, add to the total number of hints you have available.
I seldom used the hint button, but when I did, it was annoying. It popped up a window to visually show where the next item was, but when you clicked the window, it closed. You had to navigate to the location you were shown.
There is a journal of sorts and a task list. I seldom used either of these items.
The game is very linear. You complete everything in an area and then are taken to the next area. The storyline was really, really good. It kept my interest throughout the game. The ending of the game was very satisfying and definitely set up the possibility of a sequel.
While there were a few annoyances, I recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

This game was fun to play, but there were a few annoyances. The game begins with the arrest of your childhood friend and you have to find a way to rescue him. The graphics are very nice, the cut scenes and voice overs are well done, the music was somewhat annoying (I muted it).
There are two types of HOS - one is finding objects on a list, the other is finding objects to create a needed objects. The HOS scenes were well done for the most part, a couple of them were really dark.
The mini games were hit and miss. Some of them were fun to play and worked well and some of them were confusing and there didn't seem to be a solution. I used the skip button on the games that didn't seem to work properly.
There wasn't a journal or map. A map wasn't needed, but a journal would have been nice. There is a task list, which was helpful.
If you can overlook the annoyances, this is a fun game to play.
I recommend this game!

This game was fun to play, but the game is short. You are Bluebeard's son and have to rid the castle and village of the dark heart. Game play is linear, so there is very little back-and-forth. The graphics are nice, the cut scenes and voice overs are really well done, the music is annoying (I muted it), the iHOS are nice and not too dark, the mini games are really fun. You have a journal and map, both are helpful.
The game was short. I had one mini game that didn't work properly and I had to use the skip button.
I recommend this game.

I enjoyed this game. You play as a detective trying to stop a magician who is making monuments around the world disappear. The graphics a nice, the cut scenes and voices overs are excellent, the iHOS are fun, the mini games are enjoyable. There is a map and journal. The map is a bit clunky, but does show where "to do" items are located. The journal contains some useful information.
The end of the game was satisfying, but left the door open for a possible sequel. I recommend this game.

This is an excellent game. You play as a detective and you've been asked to find the police chief's daughter. The graphics are excellent, the cut scenes and voice overs are well done, the iHOS was very good and the mini games were so much fun. There is so much to do in this game that it keeps you entertained and moves the story along. There are morphing objects to collect during the game which is also fun.
The main game had a satisfying ending and the bonus chapter was a nice addition to the story. I'm looking forward to playing the sequel to this game.
I recommend this game!
