I really enjoyed this game! It was not overly complex, which is enjoyable sometimes. This game is a sequel, so play "Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret" first. This game begins where the other one ended. You have to make your way to the sky city and save the children.
There are beautiful locations to visit. The graphics are nice, the HOs are fun to play, the mini games are not too difficult and the music is not overly intrusive. You also have two "helpers," but you have to decide which one to believe. While the story is not complex, it was enjoyable.
Since this is a CE you have collectibles that give you more of the back story. After you complete the main game, the ZEM game is available to play. ZEM is a unique take on Match 3 and was fun to play.
I recommend this game.

I really enjoyed this game! I purchased it several years ago and just got around to playing it. While I usually play more challenging games, I like having a few games that take a bit less effort.
You awake in a underwater world and have to discover why you are there. You have a book to journal, record hints, track collectibles and follow your progress on a map. You also have two "helpers," but you have to figure out which one to believe.
There are several locations to visit and the HOs and mini games are straight forward. The graphics are nice, not as stunning as some of the current games, but nice. The voice overs are well done and the music is unobtrusive (which I prefer). While the story is not complex, I enjoyed it.
I would definitely recommend this game to someone new to HO games or to someone who wants to play a HO game that is not overly complex.
I recommend this game!

This game was better than the previous two in the series, but pales in comparison to the original games that were put out by Blue Tea. The graphics were cartoony, the collectibles were almost invisible, the morphing objects for the parables didn't always morph. The storyline was not very well thought out, but at least it was somewhat coherent.
The bonus chapter was okay, but nothing special. The parables were okay, but nothing special. Eipix should hire a proof reader to check the parables.
This is the last DP game I own and I won't be buying new games in the series unless Blue Tea takes them back. I highly recommend the first seven games in the series. I do not recommend this game.
I don't recommend this game.

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed the old DP games and I usually like games by Epix, but I wish Epix had never taken over the DP series. This game is a mess. The story has nothing to do with the fairy tale. They brought in a character from a previous game, but he is selfish and unhelpful. The FROGs are not that much fun. The mini games were so-so. The morphing objects are gone. To open the parables you "find" random blobs by accident. The collectibles are snowflakes that you can't even see in most scenes.
I was so disappointed in this game and think I am done with DP unless Blue Tea takes it back from Epix. I would highly recommend the first games in the series, but would not recommend this game.
I don't recommend this game.

I enjoyed this game more than Mermaid. It looks more like the original DP games (before Epix was involved). You play as the Fariy Tale Detective. The graphics are good and look more like the original DP games. The mini games are better than the previous game. The FROGs are so-so. The voice overs are much better in this game than Mermaid. There are collectibles, souvenirs and parable items. The collectibles are easy to find. The parable items are sometimes easy to find. The souvenirs make no sense to me. If you don’t collect everything during the game, you are allowed to go back and collect items through the Extras menu. The parables do not pop up when you’ve found all items and the parables are not narrated. I guess Epix decided to stop both those features from the original DP games.
The story was okay, but did not capture the imagination as well as the original DP games. At one point I thought they'd switched fairy tales to Beauty and the Beast. The game had a satisfying ending. The bonus chapter was a prequel and was fun to play.
I like other games by Epix, but I wish Blue Tea would take back the DP series. Epix has not done a good job with the DP series.
Overall this game was okay, but not near as much fun as the original DP games (prior to involvement of Epix). I will play the next game because I already own it. I would not recommend spending the money for the CE of this game.
I recommend this game!

Disappointing Addition to DP Series

I did not enjoy this game very much. It didn’t have the “look” of a DP game. Epix seems to have taken over the series. The graphics were good, but were almost too crisp/sharp for a DP game. The previous DP games have almost a "painted" feel and this one doesn't fit in. The voice overs were not as engaging as in the previous games. The FROGs were not well done, items were hard to find and you have to have the cursor in just the right spot to acquire the item. The mini games were so-so and didn't seem to tie to the story.
You play as the detective (of course) and are sent on an investigation involving mermaids. The background music was okay, but I usually mute music in games. The cut scenes were not as fun as the other DP games. There are collectibles and achievements. Some of the collectibles relate to the parables, but the game doesn’t tell you when you’ve collected all the items for a parable. You either have to check periodically during the game or wait until you unlock bonus content. The morphing objects were not continued to this game.
There are a lot of locations to visit, but the story line is very confused. The story had a satisfying ending. The bonus chapter was fun to play.
The bonus content is mini games, FROGs, music, wallpaper, concept art, parables and collectibles. If you are missing some of the collectibles or items to unlock the parables, you can go back to the scene and find the item. This was a nice touch that I found by accident.
Overall this game was a disappointment as a continuation of the DP series. I will play the next game because I already own it and hope that Epix does a better job than they did with this game.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a continuation of the DP series and is excellent. You play as the detective and the story involves Rapunzel. There are several characters from previous games that appear in this game, which is fun.
The graphics, cut scenes, voice overs, FROGs and mini games are excellent. The background music is fine, although I usually mute background music on all games.
There were a number of locations to visit which kept game play interesting. The main game had a satisfying ending. The bonus chapter had nothing to do with the main game, which was nice. The bonus chapter was interesting and fun to play.
I recommend this game and look forward to playing the next game in the DP series.

This is another excellent game in the DP series. This time it is a twist on the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale. You play as the detective and have to help Jack.
The graphics, voice overs and cut scenes are excellent. The FROGs and mini games are fun. The background music is okay, but I seldom like background music in any game. There are 20 morphing objects to locate. You also search for items that open various parables that add to the back story.
The story had a satisfying ending. The bonus chapter was a prequel and was quite fun to play. The bonus items include mini games, wallpapers, music, cut scenes, the parables and concept art.
I really enjoyed this game and look forward to playing the next game in the DP series.

Another excellent Dark Parables game. You play as the detective and are sent to investigate a story based on the Cinderella fairy tale. The graphics are excellent and the cut scenes are well done. The mini games are fun, but not overly difficult. The FROGs were fun to complete.
Since this is a CE there are collectibles that open various parables that add to the back story. There are also morphing objects to collect. The built in SG comes in handy at a couple of places during the game. The story had a satisfying ending. The bonus chapter involved some of the "pre" story, which was interesting. The bonus material includes wallpaper, music, mini games and the parables.
I really enjoyed this game and look forward to playing the next in the series.
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed playing this game. This is the fourth in the Dark Parables series and you play as the detective. The story is excellent and the graphics are really nice. I enjoyed the FROGs and mini games. The voice overs were well done and the cut scenes added to the story.
There are collectibles that open parables. There are morphing objects to collect. The bonus material includes the mini games, parables, wallpaper, cut scenes and music. there is a built in SG, but I only used it a couple times.
The story had a satisfying ending. The bonus chapter gave more of the back story. I'm looking forward to playing the next game in the series.
