Review based on one hour of gameplay, actual game, not trial version. Animation/VOS - Good what I saw and heard of them. The usual back tracking just to look for missing animals and other items was of no interest to me. This storyline did not hold my attention. Had to keep referring to the SG to get help taking me away from the game. To me, it was boring and tedious. Seemed to be more traveling than IHOS and puzzles/mini-games. Time to play another game.
I don't recommend this game.

The Missing: Island of Lost Ships
After setting out to search for your missing friend, you find yourself trapped on the mysterious Island of Lost Ships.
Always play casual, relaxed, etc. Review based on completed game. A bit of a warning here - more IHOS than puzzles. Did actually manage to solve a few without skipping. My favorite was the eyeballs. LOL Animation/Avatars/VOS - Excellent! The way a game should look. LIsten up, devs!!! IHOS - Repeated scenes, small to larger items, fairly clear, some very well concealed, some were lists and others were silhouettes. Misclick Penalty - Text appears stating avoid multiple clicks. Hint - Recharges quickly and acts as a guide. Map - Does transport but I used the hint button. Inventory - Items used quickly in other locations. Great deal of back tracking to same areas. Love stories about ships so this game was a winner for me. Although I did miss the ghosts and lost souls. :-D
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
Seeing the live actors was my cup of tea until I played this game for about one hour, actual game, not trial version. IHOS were a tad unusual. This business of putting things back the way they were back in 19 whatever was tedious. Junk piles all over the place. I enjoy stories about the supernatural but this game did not hold my interest. I'm off to play another game.
A great game all around with the exception of very little animation and the vos - characters' mouths not moving when they spoke. IHOS - Variety of list type and fragmented. Fairly clear in some areas, gray in others. Misclick Penalty - None Journal - Lists objectives and other information. Hint - Recharges quickly and acts as a guide. Characters were beautifully drawn and looked very realistic. Inventory - Items used fairly quickly in other locations. More IHOS than puzzles/mini-games. Fast skip recharge. Great deal of back tracking from one location to another. Enjoyed the scenery, the castle interior and exterior, the pink floral bushes were beautiful. If you're not an IHOS lover, this game may not be for you. For others, buy, enjoy and happy gaming.
Huge disappointment. Should have read the reviews before purchasing this game or using a free coupon code. This game is strictly for puzzles lovers only. I enjoy a mix of IHOS and puzzles, not all one or the other. To each his/her own. One hour game play was enough for me.
Now this is the way a game should be designed!!! Review based on completed game (CE) including bonus chapter. Animation/VOS - Excellent!! Characters were beautifully drawn and very realistic. Music - Soft for the most part, not intrusive. IHOS - Animated, repeated, some junk piles, usual small to larger objects, clear, one showed shapes and the others were lists, get at least 2 items in most of the scenes. Misclick Penalty - Screen becomes foggy for a second. Inventory - Objects used fairly quickly in other locations. Hint - Recharges quickly and acts as a guide. Map - Does not transport. Puzzles/Mini-Games - Usual fare of easy to difficult. Can be skipped. More IHOS. Loved the film strips that showed to give you more info. Journal - Lists info, photos, etc. collected. Great deal of back tracking so keep a good pair of running shoes handy. The end was a surprise so do play the bonus chapter. Kudos to BFG and the devs for this gem!!! Loved it!!!
Animation/VOS - Good but not much of either. Rather disappointing. HOS - More of these than puzzles/mini-games. Scenes are murkey, gray and foggy inside and outdoors. Objects are small. Misclick Penalty - None Map/Compass - Tutorial states interactive but it did not transport for me. Perhaps I did something wrong. Journal - Records photos, Ashley's thoughts and discoveries, grandmother's notes, etc. Hint - For HOS only. Fairly fast recharge. Inventory - Lots of items and no place to use them. This game was a letdown for me and it wasn't what I expected. I started out well enough then got bogged down and needed help. Went into the forum and found a player's walkthrough (with a sense of humor) which I had to read and make notes to finish the game. It was tedious. If there is a sequel to this, I certainly hope the devs make much needed improvements.
Played this game for several nights but I can't give the number of hours. Animation/VOS were good as was the hint which recharged quickly and acted as a guide. Too much backing tracking for me and repeated scenes. IHOS were a combo of list and silhouettes (not my cup of tea). Puzzles/Mini-Games were good, some I had never seen before. Inventory items were used fairly quickly in the beginning but began to bog down after a while with too many items and no where to use them. The characters showed only briefly and more time is spent traipsing from location to location. You must collect fish scales along the way for the Destiny Fish. I never will find out what its destiny was. Just couldn't get into this game. Did not hold my interest.
I don't recommend this game.

The Torment of Whitewall Collector's Edition
Only one girl has survived the mysterious attacks on Whitewall, but she’s not talking… So they’ve called you in to end the town’s terrible torment!
Storyline - You play a detective called in to solve a string of kidnappings of young women. Animation/VOS - Excellent Hint - Recharges quickly and acts as a guide. Map - Does transport to areas of interest. I used the hint instead. Journal - Lists information, photos and clues. IHOS - Repeated, the usual small to large objects, a bit crowded. Misclick Penalty - None Puzzles/Mini-Games - Found some to be unusual but I did manage to solve a few. Skip - Moderate recharge. Inventory - Items used quickly in other locations. Music - Soft, not intrusive. Bonus Chapter - Same qualities as above but it was great to go back in time 100 years when the first abductions started and why. A note to puzzle lovers - this may not be a game for you. Though I did not count the IHOS, they outnumber the puzzles/mini-games but you may still be interested in the adventure. Give it a try and happy gaming!!!
This game had me going around in circles even with the hint button giving me clues. The IHOS were fairly clear, usual fare of small and large items. There was no misclick penalty. Hint had a moderate recharge. Animation/VOS were excellent. Just couldn't seem to get into this game. It did not hold my interest. Don't know if it was the Christmas rush and I couldn't concentrate. Just seems to be too much back tracking which bored me.
