No HOG's. YEA!!!!!!! A true adventure game, although not very "adventurous". Would say it was a beginner’s entry level to adventure games. It was an enjoyable game. Beautiful graphics & pleasant music. Fairly easy. Puzzles where no challenge (except the very last one!!).
Was greatly disappointed in ending. Is it because you don't buy the CE, they just drop the ending? Wondering if they ran out of time or money and just put a period on the end of the game. It did seem fairly short.
Aside from the above, I did enjoy it. PS. The demon is none threating and just "a little devil"
What starts out as a promising game quickly dissipates into a quagmire of tedious and repetitious running in circles. The music is appropriate, mysterious and moody, really quite nice actually. The graphics are pleasant and well done. The puzzles are well done, some variations of the old standards (nice change) others are quite original and some border on frustrating. For decades of game playing I’ve rarely skipped any puzzles, on this game I did skip one. After 2 hours I said the “heck” (yea sure) with it. One puzzle they tell you to spell a name, yet they give you the wrong letters to work the puzzle.
Waaaayyyy tooo much back and forth, for every 10 things you do in one room/area, you have to go somewhere else before you can complete one task. After a while you tend to forget what to do, when you acquire an item your like, what is that for, “oh yeah” (you need to use it 3 rooms back), it was a task you came upon approximately 25 tasks ago!! (that’s NOT an exaggeration!). You search an office, then you go back 5 “rooms” to watch a movie, it shows you need to do something in the office, you go back to the office (5 more rooms), then you take that item to another “office”, this time 6 more rooms. Really? Come on, did you try to make a long game or a good game? I wonder how long this game would be without all the to and fro?
At this point I was just going through the motions, hitting the hint button at every move so I could rush to finish the game. I was wishing the game would end soon so I could move on to something different that showed more promise. I dislike quitting a game I’ve paid for so I muddle through (albeit with a very disagreeable attitude).
At the very end of the game they have you back stepping 13 times! And you do it for 5 or 6 times!! Ahhh!!!!
You have GOT to try this game. It is what I would call a sleeper. This has one of the best stories I have played in a while. The story is very good and consistent throughout. This is truly an adventure game. There are NO HOG’s! THANK YOU dev.’s!!!
Sometimes you read a review that states the game was "so scary" it made the player jump. I’ve played those “scary” games, never happened. I laugh to say it did here, and not because the game is scary. You work on some of those puzzles and get so far into thought, that when it “clicked” into place, I really did jump (my husband laughed). The puzzles are excellent, some I had never seen before, they range from difficult to perplexing, but all do-able. The game is very intuitive so you pretty much don’t get lost or wonder what to do next, and if you do (very unlikely) you can use your hint button or consult the walkthrough provided by BF (you guys are the best). There is no going back and forth or around in circles. You work in a small area “chapter” and can’t advance until you accomplish all tasks.
The writers have a sense of humor that was enjoyable; they don’t talk down to you as some, and never tell you that’s silly, or worse. The only disappointment I experienced was the lack of music and voice overs (which I think can make any game better). Some games have too much music and it gets in the way of playing, here I had to check my volume thinking I had turned it down too far, or muted in the options. Nope. At times there was no sound at all, disappointing. The other let down was the graphics. While they were ok, they could have been much better.
It could have been a fabulous game if the graphics, voice over and music had been better.
I recommend this game!

Hard to give raving review. One of those "good but not great, not bad" Hard to put my finger on it. Graphics were good, not great. Voice overs (wonderful to have in any game) were good. The puzzles were too simplistic (I love puzzles). HOS were monochromic which made it difficult to identify objects at times. Again with language differences, looking for football, found soccer ball (foosball maybe?) there were a few others that were notable. The map made it very easy to go from scene to scene. Whenever I take a break I always forget what I was doing. The map had icons that showed what was going on at the time. Overall a great deal for $2.99 (DD), but would not have been thrilled if paying full price, entertaining, good for a slow day. Personally, I wish they would put a skip button on the HOG for those of us that play the games for the adventure and investigation.
Definitely getting your monies worth with this one! There are 3 levels of play, casual, advanced and hard core. I normally play expert so I thought why not give hard core a try, glad I did, I like a challenge (but there where times I questioned my choice!). I enjoy relaxing to play, but I get tired of being pointed along an obvious path, while it was challenging it was also enjoyable. If you take a break and forget what you’re supposed to be doing you can check your diary.
The graphics are better than most, not as good as some. There are some but not a lot of HOS which, if you’re a HOG lover you may not care for, they are fairly easy and very clean (read NOT cluttered). Length of play very good, possibly days’ worth, if you don’t skip the puzzles and if you’re a puzzle lover I think you will be in heaven.
Puzzles ranged from so simplistic to quite difficult. Some were very unique although there some of the usual standards. The music, you will either love it or hate it. I found it very appropriate being a medieval theme, there is chanting, usually when you’re doing a puzzle or HOG, at times when I’m stuck on a difficult puzzle (hours) it may have become somewhat annoying (I swear they were saying “game on, play on”) but when I realized what I thought they were saying I did smile and felt like I was being rooted on. I also had to turn it off on some VERY tedious puzzles.
Over all, LOVED it! I look for adventure games that don’t have HOG, they seem to be in abundance at BF, I know that may be their largest demographic, but some of us want more of a challenge. I hope BF does/gets more games like this. Try the demo if you’re not sure, after an hour I couldn’t wait to download, I even started over cuz I always feel like I need to rush before the hour is done to decide if I want to buy or not.
This has no HOG's, if your wanting to try your hand at a "real' adventure game, this would be a good start. Recommend you play in junior detective mode, or you will be taking notes, and it helps to know what to do next. There are no hint or skip buttons, it's not that sort of game. There are mini games. I played golf for several hours, just to beat par and win prize, but I can be stubborn that way! There is no walkthrough on BF, but you can Google one, I did have to resort on occasion. All-in-all, an ok game however, I do like the books better, but for someone who is hungry for a true adventure game without HOG, this is a good start. I plan on trying at least one more ND.

First, this is NOT a game for beginners, or HOG lovers. That said, WOW, watch what you wish for! I've been wanting a game like this for so long. Tired of lists of "hide and seek". Love the adventure games, could do without the HOG.
This was a difficult game for me. I normally play in expert mode; here I had to switch back and forth between expert and casual in option setting. And yes, I frequented forums and as a last resort checked the walkthrough on occasion. This is a great game for those of us you HAVE to finish something we started, HAVE to find why we are 2 cents off in the check book, if you’re looking for a game to play to relax w/a glass of wine, this may not be it. It gets your brain to think outside the box, use your resources, and sometimes know your limitations, and when to ask/seek help.
In this day of computer gaming I would think they could have done more with the graphics even the HOG's have so much more enticing artistry. They could have put more effort into the cut scenes. The voice over/acting is ok. Overall, enjoyable, frustrating and want more of these types of games’.
I recommend this game!

Love these kinds of adventure games, so tired of HOG. I like HOG on occasion, but seems all "adventure games" here are every other scene HOG. We need more games like this. This is exactly the type of adventure game I love. However that said, I was thankful I downloaded the demo first. I have never in 10-15 years of playing pc games ever gotten sick from the camera...this time I did. I'm very disappointed, the reviews are so good, and the ambiance of the game is fascinating, I was soooo eager to play. Unfortunately, after 20 minutes I had to delete the game. Too bad, wish dev. would not do the panoramic view, I even put it on slow and it didn't seem to slow it down any. Never thought I would get motion sickness from a game, very disappointed, I was really looking forward playing. Because of the quality/style of the “adventure” I will recommend, but not if you get motion sickness or headaches!
Thank goodness, it’s finally over! NOT for Beginners (HOG). I really tried very hard to like this game. First off, I did play in expert mode. When I first started the game I was very excited, it had good reviews, great graphics and good music, eerie but pleasant. I like HO, but this one was very frustrating, it looks like the dev. were trying to be “creative” and try something new. They did not get it. First it looks like someone’s closet that hadn’t been cleaned out in 20 years, ok we’ve had to deal with that before, but the smaller items were nearly impossible to find they were sooooooo tiny; they shrunk everything down to microscopic size where you need to have a magnifying glass next to your pc at the ready. Then, they put spider webs in front of the items…think that’s enough NOOOOOO, THEN, they put you in the dark and you have to use a flash light. COME ON!!!! I can deal with all the above, if you could at least make the items a LITTLE larger, seriously? I had to hit the hint button after looking for over 15 minutes without finding ONE thing and there were approx. 12-18 on the list! Now I’m no beginner, been doing this for years. I like creativity, but at least make it do-able. Over all, graphics very good, music good, storyline good (until the ending), entertaining yes…frustrating VERY, I play for enjoyment and relaxation…but this WAS NOT!! The puzzles were far too easy and the sparkles were an annoyance in the harder mode, we play in the advanced mode so we don’t get pulled around by the nose! I found myself rushing to finish and move on to something more entertaining. The ending was not worth what you go through to get there, what, did they run out of ideas?
Finally, a fun, beautiful game! Well done!, Beautiful graphics, good story line, enjoyable music. Much like a fairy tale, you are the princess. Would be a great game for an adolescent girl. I played in expert mode, the games were very easy, the HOG were some what challenging, there were three, maybe 4 times I had to resort to the hint button. Seems to be a cultural/language difference w/ERS, believe a russian team, would have you looking for a "ship hook", you would think anchor, but no it was something else (no spoiler here). There were a few of these situations, were I would retort, "your kidding", but all in all it made it that more interesting and made you use gray matter (nice). Totally enjoyable, great to share and play with a young daughter or grand-daughter. Definately give it a try.
