It is quite an original story, refreshing change from the usual ghouls, witches, vampires etc. (although I have enjoyed those as well). I had seen this game offered before but it didn’t really interest me until it was offered as a bonus purchase. Based upon the reviews it had at the time (17 five stars and 3 four stars with 100% recommending, impressive) I then decided to purchase. It appears this is one of several in a series, although it did not require playing the previous one(s) to understand what was happening.
While the scenes can be a little surprising with the visual content (no spoiler), the dev.’s have tried to balance the shock value with rather pretty details on the borders of the close-ups (when magnifier appears), and your tool “holder”. Don’t get me wrong, there is no real gore or disgusting things, just some things that made me go, “oh creepers!” And if you don’t like bugs fear not, you get pesticide!
The graphics are very good. I was immediately impressed when I could see tears in the eyes of several characters. Starts out with voice over, which disappears when the story continues. The music is subliminal and not obtrusive or annoying. There is no map or diary (miss the diary, helps to remember what you were going to do when you return from a break). There is considerable to and fro.
I played in expert mode, which has no hint button except in the HOG’s. There is no click penalty, and while they are cluttered they are not what I would call a junk pile. Items are not that difficult to find, although you always have that evasive one. At first it appears there are not many HOG’s, and then you get one after another after another, sometimes three in a row (seriously). And yes, there is a crowbar….I personally like the crowbar, I find it a very useful tool. 
That said, this is a good game for HOG lovers, if you’re looking for straight adventure not so much. Just when your getting into the story and searching/investigating another HOG pops up, and like I said sometimes it goes on 3 times in a row. After that 3rd HOG your left wondering what was it you were supposed to do. I would rate this a 5 if it had no HOG’s, but (in my opinion) they obscure the flow of the game, I give it a 2.5
Conclusion: Good story, nice graphics, entertaining. I will recommend for fans of HOG’s for those reasons. Not recommended if you want straight adventure.
I recommend this game!

Very interesting. Unique story line following Celtic folklore. You play the female lead, a heroin. Sets out to rescue a former boyfriend, a nice change of pace.
Nice graphics w/intermixed photos, at least I think they are photos; they are so crisp and clean, very nicely done. This is what dev.’s want to call an adventure with hog’s. Not what I would call an adventure game, more of an HOG with a point and click storyline. But given that, it was entertaining.
No map, some to and fro, hog’s as stated, and puzzles. Oh boy the puzzles! I love the puzzles intermixed within a game. Over the years I believe I’ve only passed on 2 puzzles, well here…I passed on at least that many within one game! They are difficult! For the first time I was very grateful for the skip button.
Lengthwise it is average, meaning several hours a day…2 days. Compared with other games of this genre I would say it is better than most.
I recommend this game!

Now THIS is what an adventure game should be! The story is interesting, the graphics/video (not sure which to call it) is great. Why can’t they have this visually in ALL pc games of our genre? There are no HOG’s (yea!) you do have a ? button, call it a hint button or a map of sorts. I used it! This is not an extremely difficult game to play. If you’re not familiar with adventure games it may be confusing at first. Please don’t quite. Use that ? button!
You play an archeologist who investigates an antique chest and that leads you to different parts of the world and into a story that is fascinating. There is quite a bit of conversation between your characters so be prepared for some reading. At first it was a little disappointing at the amount of conversation, but then it just becomes part of the story and helps to relate to the characters. There is even some humor and funny situations (fountain in Venice), actually made me chuckle.
It has some length, I played several hours a day and it lasted for 3-4 days. I definitely got enjoyment and my money’s worth. I hope you will try to play. BFG also has a walkthrough, and there will be times you will probably need to refer to it, I did.
I recommend this game!

Wow!! Just watched the opening scene, it looks like a movie. 10 minutes into the demo I decided to purchase the CE. I think the writers have hit the nail on the head with this one! Well, that was the start of my review when I started the demo. Quite the disappointment. Finished this game in less than 3 hours. The bonus chapter was extremely short.
The story line is really very good and that’s the best I can say for this game. The graphics are ok to good, not great, no real “art”. The bonus art concept/and wallpaper are “blah”. Music was subliminal, only noticed when there was a climax in the game play.
Very unexpected and creative use of inventory in bonus chapter, a refreshing change from the expected crow bar and screw driver. Good mini games, there was one in the bonus game I haven’t seen before.
There was so much potential for this game. Great story, interesting characters, it just fell short, literally. As I stated earlier, when it first opens the video is wonderful, like a movie; I had thought and hoped it would carry through…it didn’t. Overall it was an ok game. Some to and from, no map, interesting “special effects”, but it just felt like a disappointment to me.
CE is too short to recommend for $13.99, I would recommend the SE
I don't recommend this game.

Beautiful artwork for graphics with a moody atmosphere. I normally refuse to purchase a CE, however this one really seemed to peak my interest with the demo. The bonus chapter was worth the purchase of the CE. It is 4 chapters long, it is actually a prelude to the story. The game itself is 14 chapters; I felt it was quite lengthy. I kept thinking I was going to get to the end any time, but no, it kept going….wonderful. For those of you who purchase the CE for wallpaper, they are truly remarkable.
There is a map which shows you where you are and offers information as to the other places you have been or will be able to go. It would have been nice if you were able to click on a spot and appear there. Perhaps I was spoiled with another game that did this, it eliminates the to and fro. I hope this will eventually become a standard in future games as it seems most gamers really dislike the backtracking.
While the HOG’s are busy the items are fairly easy to find and there is always the wily one that resist being found. There are videos in the beginning and end of the game with a few appearing randomly throughout. The use of voice overs would have enhanced this already fine game.
I wish the characters could have been more 3 dimensional rather than flat screen photos. Am I asking too much? Perhaps, however I feel (my own opinion) that the future of this genre will have to advance at some point. Yes, the cost will probably go up (love your pricing BF) but as gamers we want more. Other pc games have exceptional graphics and depth (you can see the characters breath), but those gamers also pay the price, literally. But if we could get some depth, interaction and length would we also be willing to pay more? I guess time will only tell.
In conclusion: a beautiful and enjoyable game to play that offers investigation, adventure and infrequent (Yea!!!) HOG’s. Easy, as in linier and intuitive, while offering constant investigative thoughts. All in all a good adventure game, with a sprinkle of HOG.
I recommend this game!

I must have completely misunderstood. I was led to believe this was an adventure game with some HOG. It is listed under adventure games yet when curser is placed over top it shows hidden object. Okay they all do that, but usually they give you an opportunity to actually do some investigating.
This game is one hidden object scene after another, no kidding. You travel from room to room after you sweep dust off a mirror with a brush that you pick up. When you arrive in a room you are told what you need to do. You then you are given a list of items items necessary to accomplish this task. Then you get the sparkles and another list to find hidden objects. Then you go back to the room and are told to do X with whatever hidden object you were told to find.
Basically you are told what to do and where to find what you need to do it with. This is not an adventure game! It is strictly a hidden object game. I personally prefer to enter into a room and search/investigate. I like to find the items myself and then figure out what to do with them, and I can put up with some HOG’s. I have enjoyed the top 10, they have a nice balance of the two genres. This game does not.
If you love adventure, you will not find it here. If you love HOG you will be in heaven. Fortunately my money will not be a complete waste. My 4 year old granddaughter enjoys the hide and seek, and she’s very good at HOG, so I will be sharing/playing with her. And that will be the only good thing about this purchase.
I don't recommend this game.

I’m not allowed to quote the lyrics, but there’s an old song that would fit this game to a T. If you don’t like spider’s or snakes, you ain’t got what it takes to play this game. Just Kidding!! But prepare yourself there are oodles and oodles of them in this game along with bugs and mice running across the floor and terminates (?) climbing walls!! If you can get by all that it really is a fairly pleasant game to play. It really isn’t as bad as it sounds.
There are a lot of HOG’s, and surprisingly they’re fairly tough. Although not a junk pile or monochromatic, they are just very well placed. They do a dang good job of hiding those things! There are some interesting variations of them as well, I found that very refreshing as I am not particularly fond of HOG’s. You will need to return to the same scene at least two times, but the HOG is different the second time around. If you collect mirrors (they are not listed, but they are in the scene) you can collect addition hints.
This little gem has puzzles I’ve never seen before and they are quite challenging! There is no skip button for puzzles (I think there was only one in the beginning), don’t fear, there is always a walkthrough to be found. It is not for hard core enthusiast unless you’re looking for something to relax to.
There are no voice overs and the music is so sublime that I forget what it even sounded like. The graphics are very good, clear, clean and crisp. It just doesn’t have the look or feel of some of the recent top 10. But don’t let that stop you. Give it a try when you’re looking for a little something to do on a slow day. It has a clock on the options page that shows how long you’ve played (mine was 3:10). I took my time and enjoyed myself, shared the HOG’s with my 4 year old grand-daughter (she’s really good at finding the more difficult items!). We need to start the new gamers early to carry on!
I recommend this game!

A well done game, beautiful graphics with appropriate music. There are some voice overs, not much but they lend to the story. Interesting story line (haven’t seen this one previously in a pc game) with a female heroine.
Seemed to me to be fairly long game (several days at several hours per day), if you don’t skip the games or phone in the HOG. There are some HOG but not a lot. They are well done and clear not a “junk pile”.
The map enables you to move back and forth without physically retracing your steps. There are puzzles galore and some are quite difficult (torture room door anyone?). Thank goodness for walkthroughs!! It is a puzzler’s paradise (lots of ‘em!). You get to have a skip button; unfortunately it is very close to the reset button. Be careful, once in the middle of a very difficult puzzle skip was hit by accident…..very upset about that!
It was an enjoyable game. I never replay a game, to me what is the point, I know where everything is and I know what to do. However, this is the one game I will replay. I’m going back to that door and finishing that skipped puzzle!
Happy gaming!
I recommend this game!

Purchased as DD, great value for a great game. I probably would not have bought it if it were regular price. I played a Sherlock Holmes game many years ago and it was just too difficult (at that time they did not have walkthroughs…it was a loooooong time ago). This was fun, easy flowing with just the right degree of difficulty for an adventure game. It would be a good entry level for a beginner. There were some HOG’s, but not many.
There is a map that eliminates the need to go to and fro, it is also a helpful addition to remind you where you are after a break (some of us tend to get forgetful). It also indicates when an action is needed in a specific area. I played in hard mode; this game may be too easy for the hard core adventurist.
There is a “past version” of actions in each room, which makes it feel like you have more game. The graphics are acceptable, not great but definitely not cartoonish. The voice overs I enjoyed. The accents were acceptable and Holmes sounds as snooty as ever! There are accomplishment awards which are always fun to see what you can win.
I found it relaxing and enjoyable to go at an easy pace. I played several hours at a time, did not skip puzzles or videos or phone in hidden object scenes and completed the game in just under 5 hours. I’m very happy with that for $2.99!!
Animal lovers beware, there is some suggested animal cruelty (Franken dog), and I was surprised at the very first scene which shows a murder. I was not expecting that and found it a little disturbing and unsettling in a pc game. I’m not hardcore about this when I comes to a movie I tend to accept it as plausible, but I’ve never seen one on a pc game I’ve played before (definitely not on Big Fish website).
That said, I think I’ll try another Sherlock Holmes game soon.
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed this game. Don’t care much for HOG, and there were only a few in here. Whenever you need an item you can’t find….look for a HOG. That is the only down part of this game.
Graphics are excellent. You actually feel like it is snowing, the wind howling makes you reach for a sweater. Music is satisfactory, a nice complement to the game and not overpowering or distracting.
Like the fact you get some achievement awards. It adds a little something extra to look forward to, try to find all the frogs, go faster on the HOS. Regarding the HOS, there are some but not alot and they are pretty much done on a monochromatic way so it is a little difficult at times to make somethings out. This is like an adventure game with a little HOS thrown in. The dev.’s seem to be trying to satisfy both genres. Perhaps tipping the scale toward adventure seekers.
My only regret is the hint button, I wish it would give a hint instead of telling you what you actually need to do. If I wanted to know exactly what to do I would read the walkthrough!
I recommend this game!
