Occultus is one of those games that is difficult to make it through the demo, in fact it took me an entire week, and to be honest, I still haven't completed the demo. This is a "Click & Drag" type game, that also has a Zoom feature, allowing you to drag and zoom the entire scene. This was the most annoying feature for me because the zoom feature had a mind of it's own and would randomly zoom into meaningless areas on it's own, but perhaps that's attributed to my Mac Magic Mouse.
This game has potential, it has an interesting plot, decent enough graphics and soundtracks and it takes place in Italy. That's about it, the bad stuff outweighs the good stuff, there's very little to do in each scene, some of the places you need to visit aren't where you're supposed to be and where you're supposed to be doesn't look like a place you'd be or even think about being. The map is annoying to access, the Hidden Object scenes lack imagination and the items are small and some are unrecognizable. Even the inventory items that need to be combined have an annoying feature tasking you to click and drag both items to an empty slot above the bar, and then clicking the combination button.
You collect "lucky coins" but I don't know what you're supposed to do with them. The title makes me think that the game will be dark and creepy, instead it's bright and cheery. Perhaps the game picks up the pace a bit after the demo, perhaps, but I have my doubts, so definitely try before you buy this game!
I don't recommend this game.

It's time for another cruise aboard the USS Liberty! Just like the previous two Vacation Adventures, this is purely a HOG with Puzzles and Mini Games available between each Hidden Object Scene. You can choose either Casual or Challenge modes as well as which gender of cruise director you want. The best part about this game is that it's relaxing, there's no timer so you have all the time in the world, and some of the items to find are tiny, so it's a good thing there's no time restraints.
Each scene has Lost items that need found, the portal on the bottom left will show these items one at a time as silhouetted shapes, when all have been found the portal will close. Each scene has recyclable items that need to be found such as paper bags, cans, and bottles, when all recyclable items have been found the recycle symbol will appear. You earn coins as you play and the coins can be used to purchase 16 different Souvenirs, but this feature doesn't really float my boat.
The items to find are list finds, items in red are hidden in or behind something, items in blue are tasks to complete such as finding and dragging a bell to it's proper place. There are 18 trophies to earn and you are scored a bronze star if you find all items, a silver star if you find all lost items OR all recyclable items and a gold star when you find all lost items and recyclable items. You will also receive an eagle eye bonus if you don't use the hint, there is also a Mega Hint feature that will briefly show you all available items on the list.
After each HOG you will get to solve a puzzle or mini game such as rotating puzzle tiles to complete a picture, Match 2 identical items by flipping over two cards at a time, Spot the Difference between two almost identical pictures, finding cruise related words in a word search, or putting together a jigsaw type puzzle of the ship's layout. enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Cursed Cases clearly has potential, but it lacks a wow factor in my opinion. After initially playing the CE demo, I found the tasks to be a bit dull and repetitious, leading me to believe that after the demo, the game could become stagnant and trite. I decided to wait for a good Big Fish sale and then I reluctantly purchased this game to see if it picked up the pace a bit. After playing the entire Collector's Edition, (and the Standard Edition demo for comparison) it became apparent that this game is like a roller coaster. The dullness gives way to an interesting plot that piqued my interest, then plummeted downward with tedious tasks, up, down, up, down, you get my point. The graphics are decent, and the voiceovers are well done, but the people and animals move sideways and jilted, I'd rather they not show the movement at all rather than watch them move awkwardly and unrealistically.
Emmett Maybard has been murdered and his killer is still on the loose! It's been two weeks since his murder and Emmett's sister Sophia has hired you to investigate because of your unique psychic ability to see past events and even people who have passed. The killer isn't done yet however, because one by one, he has been trying to poison Emmett's family and friends. Could the murders have anything to do with his current will?
Because you are psychic, you will use your Aura ability frequently which requires you to find two or three "clues" by searching for evidence with a magnifying glass until you find an area with a shaded blue section. Each clue you find will explain your detective deduction, but I just found this feature kind of lame. Some items in your Inventory will have a question mark which indicates that the item is evidence, usually in need of forensics. Your forensic kit is basically an icon with powder and an icon with with tape so you can follow a two step process to lift the print, which is very basic and repetitious. The Collector's Edition has the usual Achievements to earn as well as 13 Morphing Objects that will shed light upon the characters with a short bio. There is a satchel located on the bottom left of the screen that contains all your important documents, an evidence board, a map, a task list, and notes about the case. You can also access the Character bios you have found, replay the game's videos and your Trophies for earned achievements.(CE)
The Hidden Object Scenes are unimpressive, with no new variations, at least within the demo itself. Some of the scenes are repeated a second time which is a feature I hate because it's too boring a second time around. There are Silhouetted Shape finds, multi layered HOP's where you first find multiples of two different items and then place the objects into two ornate boxes which opens up the item Lists.
There are smaller Zoom Zone puzzles and you can opt to play a Match 3 game instead of the HOP's.
The Mini Games seem to be variations of the same type of puzzles. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo and a few memorable puzzles after the demo:
1) Recreate the image by placing diamond shaped tiles into the correct empty slots using directional arrows on each column and row of a grid board.
2) Each Aura ability requires you to search for blue shaded areas, usually two or three different areas of interest.
3) Restore the image by placing flower buttons to rotate the positions of the tiles.
4) Drag clock weights to set the time according to the clue shown.
5) Select pairs of matching items, beginning with 3 objects, then 4, then 5 items to climb a tree. (this made no sense, why would you grab onto a kite stuck in a tree or a finch minding it's own business to help you scale up a tree?)
6) Rotate the rings to line up with the silver clasps, clicking on one ring may affect others.
7) Jump the checkers, one by one to clear the board.
8) Drag groups of gears to their correct positions based upon the clue.
9) Place several portraits in their correct positions based upon their shapes using green gems to rotate.
10) Place gears correctly to open a lock.
11) Spot the difference between two nearly identical scenes.
12) Move picture parts to restore the image.
The Collector's Edition has 13 Developer Diary pictures, 10 Concept Art pictures, 6 Wallpapers, 13 Morphing Objects with character bios, 4 Music Soundtracks, 6 levels of replayable Match 3 games, 26 Achievement Trophies to earn, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Margaret has gotten herself into yet another pickle, good thing you're an expert in the paranormal field. Margaret was personally selected for an internship at Stonehenge, studying the recent fluctuation of it's magnetic field. Things went south very quickly and an explosion occurred, Margaret was the sole survivor thanks to MI6 Agent David Redford. After further investigation, you discover portals to other worlds within Stonehenge, worlds that are suffering dangerous weather phenomena caused by someone or something her on earth!
Labyrinths of the World games are one of those games that flies under the radar, they aren't epic games, but they are surprisingly entertaining games with really interesting storylines and features. The graphics are beautiful and there are so many Collector's Edition extras to make this game a worthy edition to your library. There are Collectible Character Statuettes, Hidden Artifacts, Morphing Objects and Hidden Marsh Lights that give you the option of "buying" 11 different Zoological Garden Creatures.
The Hidden Object Scenes are basically the same type, Interactive List finds, with a handful of Silhouetted Shape finds thrown in for good measure. There is one HOP that allows you to interact with the scene as it relates to Keywords told in a story as you are tasked with finding the related items and replacing them within the scene correctly. You can also opt for a Match 3 game if you're not into the HOP's.
The Mini Games aren't bad, and each game gives you the option of choosing an Easy Mode or Hard Mode. Even better, if you can't beat the puzzle in Hard Mode, you can always switch to easy mode. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo;
1) Press 5 buttons in the correct order, pressing one button may affect others.
2) Choose and drag the sliders to adjust them so that every symbol turns green, clicking on one slider may affect others.
3) Enter the code shown on the tag by swapping adjacent tiles.
4) Restore the picture by swapping pie shaped sections.
5) Move the mirrors up or down so the beam of light bounces off each mirror and through the portal.
6) Lower all of the magic vines, lowering one vine may affect others.
7) Use the glowing flower to find the animal that will be drawn to the light.
8) Arrange the flowers so they match the same colors as the leaves.
This Collector's Edition has 17 Collectible Character Statuettes, 20 Hidden Artifacts, 83 Otherworldly Particles that allow you to buy 11 different Marsh Creatures for the Zoological Garden, 35 Morphing Objects, 22 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 27 replayable Mini Games, 5 Music Soundtracks, 22 Videos, 40 Achievements, 19 Concept Art Pictures, 17 Wallpapers, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

Once Upon A Time......when I first discovered my love for HOPA's, I discovered an epic series. This series was called, Dark Parables, and I became hooked, purchasing one DP after another. The stories were creative, taking well know fairytales and twisting the plot ever so gently to draw you in hook, line, and sinker. But my favorite feature was the Morphing Objects which to be honest with you I didn't know they even existed until I was a couple of chapters in on Curse of Briar Rose, the first DP game I played. You know why? Because the developers were geniuses! Dark Parables were non-linear games, Morphing Objects didn't Morph until they were eventually triggered by by an action you did in an entirely different scene. These Morphs were challenging to say the least and often times you had to travel to a scene several times, and then had to be patient to spot the Morphs because they morphed slowly. Dark Parables were also masters at blending fragments within their Hidden Object Scenes (FROGS) as well, which is a feature that didn't suit everyone's taste, but nevertheless, that's what made this series adored by many. I also loved the familiar sounds and music that was in all DP games until recently. Have the new producers scraped all the features because they don't want to become stereotypical, or is it just too much work when the easier route can skim by on the shirttail of it's predecessors? I'm certainly not bashing the devs, to the contrary, Swan Princess is a really good game, I just think the devs don't think we little guys will notice or care what's missing. Do me a favor, however, and give Curse Briar Rose, the Exiled Prince or even The Rise of The Snow Queen a try and you'll see what I mean, those were the good ole days.
I know after reading all that, that it sounds like I think this is a horrible game. I don't think that at all, I enjoyed playing this game, I just don't think it holds a candle to the original Dark Parable games. If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It! I'm going to pretend it's just a fairytale and that maybe, just maybe, Epix will consider bringing back the non-linear Morphing Objects, I can live with the rest. The graphics are beautiful as usual, it even seems to be less glittery that the last couple of DP games, which is good thing. The Collector's Edition has 39 Hidden Acorn Signs and they are blended into the scenery very nicely, even better, the cursor doesn't change to a hand to alert you by simply scanning over the scene. At least they haven't taken away the Dark Parable Collections, (CE) and those fragments are well hidden too. Once you have collected all Parable fragments you get to read about short tales such as Up rise of the Swan, Forbidden Idol, The First Tree, A Dark Dream, and the Jewel of Repose.
This twisted tale is about the magical kingdom of Dire Island where the Magic Seed that allows the goddess Flora to regenerate the Dire tree of life, has been stolen. The Swan guards are sworn to protect the goddess at all cost, and some of the guards have the ability to transform into beautiful swans. The Black Swan was a high ranking guard who is responsible for the theft, even though her intentions may have been for all the right reasons, she might not have known that the Kingdom would begin to crumble.
The Hidden Object Scenes are all the same, but that's a good thing! These are actually FROGS, where you search the scene for several fragments that are cleverly hidden among other objects. There are three different groups of fragments that will join together to make a single inventory item such as an elaborate key or emblem that will help you progress in the game. There are also a few Zoom Zone FROG's as well with just a handful of fragments to locate.
The Mini Games are also clever, below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Use the looking glass to find the path to the Dire Tree by selecting landmarks along the way as shown on the outside of the stone.
2) Find and place items within a play that are out of place as a story unfolds.
3) Swap pie shaped puzzle pieces to create an image.
4) Connect all the squares with the number of connections indicated by dots without intersecting connections and in the same direction.
5) Match symbols by searching for partially hidden symbols with shown.
6) Set up the boards so that every ball will fall to the correct place on the bottom that matches its color and shape and then test your configuration.
The Collector's Edition has 12 Achievements, 6 Concept Art pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 9 Music Soundtracks, 22 replayable Mini Game puzzles, 16 replayable FROG's, 39 Hidden Acorn Signs, Hidden Parables (The Swan Princess and A Fable of Two Hearts), Souvenirs, 17 Videos, a built in Strategy Guide, NO MORPHING OBJECTS, and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

If you want to play a relaxing game of Mahjong, pass on this game because it's anything but relaxing! The object of this game is to make matches at lightning speed to earn three stars, which btw seems impossible. No matter how fast I was able to match tiles, most of the higher levels were impossible to earn more than 2 stars, but maybe I'm just too slow.
There is a rapidly decreasing number (and I do mean rapidly) at the upper right of the screen, the slower you are to make a match, the less points you will score. If the counter reaches 0, you can continue to play but will earn no points for the match you eventually make. The counter resets after each match.
There are regular 2D levels that have Beginner levels, Easy, Intermediate, Challenging, Difficult, and Super Sized puzzle levels. There is also a 3D Mahjong style available in Bonanza and Extravaganza where you need to click and drag, and even zoom in or out as you try to locate the matching tiles. All tiles are free in the 3D mode, but it's not as easy as it sounds, especially when you have to find matches quickly on a cube like grid.
If you have a need for speed, you're going to love this game, but if you don't care about points, you can always take your time matching tiles and just get 0 points and 0 stars, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Everybody loves a good marble popping game, and this isn't a good one, it's an excellent Marble Popping game! Actually it isn't really a marble popper but rather a marble dropping game where you drop different colored marbles from the top of the scene. I really liked the layouts that gave this game a 3D vibe, as you shoot at the balls that are stacked on brick and wood slabbed walls, and the goal is to match at least 3 of the same colored balls. Once you destroy all of the balls on the wall, the wall caves and the screen drops down to the next wall below until you make your way to the end.
As you progress, some of the balls have a texture that requires two matches to destroy them. There are also powder kegs that can be shot directly by dropping any colored ball on them. There are targets that appear on several of the levels that can be shot through wall levels or stacked marbles by right clicking and spiders occasionally make an appearance and they too can be shot by right clicking.
I've only played the demo, but I plan on buying this game as soon as I finish this review because it's really entertaining and I can't wait to see what's in store for me on the next level, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Hero and Bright Light are back, and they're not alone! The adventurous duo are now proud parents of twins, Hika-Ri and Koa-Ri, but unfortunately, the gods are angry. Their island began to rumble and shake, towering waves crashed down upon the coast, destroying the coastline settlements. Many people thought the gods were punishing them, but once the tremors subsided, several islands began to rise from the ocean, surely this is a good sign, right? Hero and Bright Light are eager to explore with their new family, but first they must restore the settlements destroyed by mother nature, with your help of course.
I love the Moai series, and the graphics keep getting better and better with each episode. The tasks are clear and obtainable, and there's always a nice variety of features, however, I don't see the need to present a Time Management game as a Collector's Edition, as this one was. The only feature even remotely beneficial would be the Strategy Guide, but it's very difficult to get "stuck" on a TM level, after all you can replay any level as often as you want, so to me, it's really a waste of money unless you've just gotta have a few wallpapers and a few extra levels, so for me, this Standard Edition is perfect, and well worth the SE price.
There are two modes of difficulty available, Easy mode which is untimed for a relaxing experience the other is Casual which is designed for gamers familiar with TM games. The Collector's Edition offers game even more Achievements to earn than the last episode, a total of 68, which has to be an achievement for just about anything and everything you could do (or even think about doing for that matter!) Each level has treasure chests available which contain valuable artifacts and bonuses such as the Sandals of Speed which give the Moai a little more speed to get the job done. There are several different Artifacts to earn that will help you progress by increasing resources by a specific percentage, and other perks such as that. The Artifacts are kept in your backpack and you can choose a handful to apply before each level if you choose. A new feature in this fourth edition, are progressive upgrades to Hero as he improves and polishes his skills as a leader, such as his Ability level to negotiate and his Influence and power as the King of the Moai.
This is one of my favorite Time Management series, tasking you to remove obstructions from pathways, plant crops for food, build sawmills for wood, quarries to produce stone, repair destroyed property, fix broken bridges, collect resources, trade goods at the market and even talk to giants! I loved the scenery when the Moai discovered a way to breathe underwater, with coral trees, and colorful octopus. This is a great game for beginners and seasoned TM players as well.
The Collector's Edition has 4 Wallpapers (which are cartoonish in style) 9 Music Soundtracks, 14 Character Biographies, Bonus Levels, and a Strategy Guide, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I remember waking up in the tiny town of Maple Creek dazed and confused. The entire town had been torn to shreds by a violent tornado, and my memories were fuzzy. Slowly I began to remember why I was sent to Vermont in the first place, to investigate the disappearance of a young teenage girl. What I found was unfathomable, I had found the bodies of several missing persons dating back over 80 years! The person responsible for these atrocious murders was even harder to imagine, a Preacher! The Preacher's history is one of evil, who'll stop at nothing as he prepares to become the unholy vessel and resurrect the ancient demon, Asmodai. It sickens me that the Preacher managed to escape.
Nearly a year later, I encountered the Preacher near the Redwood Forest in Northern California. I have learned so much about Asmodai who was slain by Raphael during the great battle. Asmodai's followers, called Reapers followed him into immortal oblivion. Raphael ordered all Reapers to be killed using a ceremonial dagger, and their numbers dwindled from 12 strong to a mere 2 The Preacher is one of those Reapers, but unfortunately, once more the Preacher managed to escape!
After returning to Maple Creek, I have found new evidence about the Preacher's nefarious plans which has led myself and detective Richard Hamilton to an ancient monastery, nestled high in the mountains of Tibet. The Preacher is now the last of the Reapers and is prepared to resurrect his unholiness, Asmodai! There is no room for error now, the ceremony must not take place, the Preacher must die for the world to live!
The Shadows of Karkhala is my least favorite in the Enigmatis series, partially because of the location, but mostly because the game lost that eerie vibe that it's predecessors had. The graphics are good, but again, it's too bright and cheery for the plot. Your evidence is now kept on your smartphone, which is a vast improvement from the hotel wall right? This is the game that made the evidence board famous, where pieces of evidence, notes and clues are kept and sorted out to draw conclusions on the ongoing case. This Collector's Edition has 15 hidden White Feathers, hidden Widow's Sorrow Flowers, and my favorite feature, Morphing Stains of Evil, tainted reality souls, the corrupted souls and their foul deeds! There are also several Achievement categories available.
The Hidden Object Scenes are decent although they are far and few between. There are Listed item finds, and matching pair finds, I haven't yet finished this game so I'll add what I find after the demo to the Standard Edition review when it's released.
The Mini Games, however are in abundance, the following are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Place the rungs in the proper sockets to climb the pole following the pattern.
2) Move the dagger along the pathways so it passes through every hub once.
3) Click disks to create an image.
4) Narrow down evidence and locations from clues.
5) Find the landmarks listed in the notes and draw a circle around them. Each circles radius should equal the distance given in the note using a compass.
6) Click on the tree trunk to balance the pole left or right.
7) Arrange the books using the photo as reference details, then push books in the right order.
8) Pair the symbols from the dictionary with those in the chronicle to translate it.
9) Follow directions on a map to choose the correct path.
This Collector's Edition has replayable Pair Matching games, collectible Widow's Sorrow Flowers and White Feathers, Morphing Objects, 8 Cutscenes, 9 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 6 replayable Puzzles, 5 Music Soundtracks, 14 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, several Achievement categories, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

I love the graphics this Time Management game offers, and each level has really good layouts with plenty of active areas to interact with. This isn't an easy breezy game however (unless you are playing in Relaxed mode which is untimed) and I will admit that I had to restart a few levels to "get it right" by slightly altering the order in which I queued my tasks, otherwise I had to waste time waiting for the necessary resources to be available because I used them on a different task that had more benefits. You can earn up to 3 stars in each level, and you will have to use strategy to earn all three stars.
The goal is to help Queen Aerin find the thief that stole the evil witch Mortessa's Diadem and return this dangerous artifact. Each level has a hidden Book to find and some levels have a Morphing Statuette, which I thought was cool. There are the normal resources to collect, food, wood, stone etc. and the same tasks of clearing the roads, repairing bridges and filling in pits along the way. Queen Aerin will do all the magic work, once she has enough magical crystals to charge her staff, and her trusted Griffin has joined her on this adventure as well. There are several Altars of Resources available in each level that will produce resources over a period of time and each level has a Bonus meter that recharges to give you temporary boosts such as faster workers, more resources, or extra workers.
This Collector's Edition has 9 Wallpapers, 6 Concept Art pictures, 6 Hidden Objects, 50 Collectibles, 8 Character Encyclopedia bios, a built in Strategy Guide, 40 Levels & 10 Bonus Levels, 38 Achievements, High Scores and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!
I recommend this game!
