This game started a little slow for me but after about 15 minutes or so, I was hooked (so if you're playing the demo, keep going). The setting is a house that you and your spouse have decided to "flip" but HEY, it's haunted. The graphics are pretty gray and dreary but they fit the mood perfectly. The HOPs are a little different and not all are the typical find the object ones. The puzzles are not terribly difficult so you should not have to skip any to keep the game going. I have to admit I jumped when the "thing" came out of the basement shoot. Holy cow Batman!! Creepy for sure. Enjoy but keep the lights on.

I have to wonder how players have given this game 5 stars when I can't even figure out what to do. There are no instructions. I found the map and all it had was areas with one or two leaves. Selecting one of the areas just popped up the location where the leaves were and did not transport you there. Here's a hint for those of you trying this out. Hitting "m" on your keyboard takes you to the Menu (which is still useless). Selecting ESC on your keyboard gives you the chance to exit the game. You will make use of the ESC for sure. Terrible!!!

Others have given an overview of the story so I'm not going to go into it again. I'll just say that the story is good. But the game itself is VERY short (as in VERY short) and was not in the least challenging. The puzzles were so easy and the HOPs were just obvious. When objects were found, you either used them in the same location or the one just prior or just afterwards. There was no collecting objects and wondering where in the world they were to be used. This is the second time I've played one of the games in this series but I think I'll pass on the other ones. :-(
If you are a new player, don't like long games, or just like to while away an afternoon, this one might be for you.
Play the demo first (I did not which was a mistake) as the first part of the game is the same as the rest.

It took me a while to get to this series but I am glad I did. This particular game was a great purchase. It was perfect as far as the level of challenge (I LOVE puzzles) and is one of the longest games I have played in a while. There is quite a bit of back and forth but the map is helpful for that. I'm not usually interested in the story lines as they are typically lame but this one is pretty interesting. I'd recommend this one for sure!

This review is based only on the demo. It is possible that the game picks up a bit in the later scenes, but based on the demo, I am never going to find out.
The story is OK - a whodunit type story. You have to find the clues and take them back to the lab to analyze them. The only challenge was in getting the facial features correct from a picture. ZZZZZ...
The hidden objects were very easy to find. There was absolutely no challenge.
This just didn't do it for me but I'd suggest the demo to see if it's your style of a game. Happy gaming!

As always, I won't review the storyline as that isn't a make or break for me. Suffice it to say that it's good. :-) The number of characters is perfect. A lot of times, these games add character after character and does more to confuse than to add to the story. This isn't one of them.
The puzzles are really great. This is why I play these games. If they are too easy, it's boring. If they're too hard, it's no fun either. These are just right. Some are a a tad difficult but doable. No cheats or skips are needed. The HOPs are not just the hunt and peck but are varied with finding objects, putting objects in their place, and then solving puzzles with the found objects.
The map is very useful as there are a lot of regions that get opened up.

It's been a long time since I've played a game that I would give 5 stars to, but this one is a winner. I don't review the storyline since that's not typically a make or break for me on a game. I look for a game that has some challenge to it with good puzzles and objectives that might not be so obvious to complete. This one's got that. The puzzles range from the very easy to ones that require a bit of thought. The game itself is quite long so don't expect to finish it in one night unless you skip a lot of the puzzles or use a walkthrough.
My only concern with this game is the heroine who falls off a cliff and get a scraped foot, gets shoved in the water and swims to shore, or any of the other pitfalls that befall her. It's a little bizarre to give her these superhuman powers. And her comments need to be fixed, too. She's full of inane "don't cry over spilled milk" comments that are just plain weird.
But getting past that, the game is a keeper. I didn't played the demo so don't know if that is representative of it. But I know I feel good about having paid the full price for this one. Happy gaming!!

I haven't had this bad of an experience in quite some time. I should have known it was going to be bad when Jane was driving down the road, in a downpour, without the wipers on. I mean really, how hard would it have been to add wipers in the scene? Anyhow, the puzzles are boring, the story is old, and the HOPs are a snooze fest. Play the demo first in case you agree.

I am usually pretty critical of games since most of them these days are loaded with mini-games that are way too easy and HOPs that are only challenging to a 3rd grader. This is not one of those games. Some of the mini-games are still pretty easy but there are enough of the more difficult ones to offset those. Te HOPs are varied with some being very basic and some not. I was not disappointed. Enjoy!!

WHAT? Am I playing the same game as these people who gave it a 5? I have only stopped playing a game once before (about 7 years ago) so it's unusual that I can't get through one of these. But this one is a huge YAWNER! Geez. It took 10-15 minutes to get out of the carriage and then another 10-15 minutes to get past the first scene. The talking is endless and cannot be skipped. And scenes kept cutting away to be covered with something that was supposed to look like a crime scene or something. I am going to go watch "Cinderella" so that I can think happy thoughts again. Play the demo! Save your money!
