I enjoyed this game very much and would highly recommend.
STORYLINE: Not bad, very much a ghost story so nothing too exciting, but by no means boring.
GAMEPLAY/GRAPHICS: Straightforward gameplay, easy to know what to do. Graphics ok, seen better, but they were very clear and crisp.
MUSIC/VOICEOVERS: Can't comment on music as I always have this turned off. There are no voiceovers, just text to read.
HOS/PUZZLES: This is a fragmented object game so there are no H0 scenes. I like both types though. Puzzles were original, not many of them i've seen before.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: There are two modes, casual or advanced. I always play on casual, but this was a little too easy in this game. Nearly stopped playing after half an hour as it was just too easy. However, even on casual, the difficulty does increase throughout the game which I was pleased to see. Puzzles range in difficulty too.
WHAT DO YOU GET?: You have a journal where all your notes are added, and a map which I like. The map also lets you know where you are, and also lets you know the locations where actions are available which is good if you get stuck and don't know where to go next. You also get your usual hint button.
GAME LENGTH: Very good length, played for several nights in a row. Not too short that it's over before you get into it, but not too long that you get bored.
Welcome to Top Secret Finders. Your first mission is to save a small town, uncover the truth about a government conspiracy and stop the villain in his tracks!
Based on demo: Really good game, enjoying it thoroughly and will definitely buy the game now I've played the demo. Graphics are clear, H0 scenes are good and have interactive features which I like. Only bad things I've found so far is that game is a little laggy in places which is frustrating and also there's an annoying fly whizzing around every H0 scene, but I can deal with both of those as I really like the game so far.
Just finished the demo and I will definitely be buying. Really enjoying the game so far. Graphics are quite good, the H0 scenes are better than some as they are not junk piles and some are 'place the object in the scene' so there's a bit of variety. I love the part of being able to obtain powers throughout the game. Makes it a bit more interesting than some games. Not so keen on the voiceovers though as its clearly a non-english person putting on an english accent and its not great. This happens a lot in games and I don't understand why they don't just get an english actor to do the voice. Also the mouse pointer gets laggy in some scenes which is a bit annoying. But other than that, I highly recommend the game.
Based on the demo: Lovely game. Nice clear graphics and lots to do and pick up. The HOS are better than some others as they are not junk piles and the items actually look like they belong in the scene. There's a few annoying sound effects like the constant hooting of an owl and the bad character constantly doing evil laughter, but I can deal with that. I enjoyed the demo, so I will definitely be buying.
I'm amazed at the bad reviews this game has got. I absolutely loved this game. One of my favourites so far.
Yeh, its another abandoned asylum game, but to be honest I really enjoy these spooky games. And the layout inside isn't like any others. The puzzle difficulty was good too as it was a mixture of hard ones and easy ones. Some people say the H0 scenes were too dark. Yeh they were a bit, but just turn up the brightness on your computer! I also loved the dramatic ending.
Definitely play this game and come to your own conclusions about it. Don't be put off by some of the bad reviews.
A good all round fun game. LIKED: - Good variation between inventory based puzzles and hidden object scenes. I find it gets boring when there's too many H0 scenes. - There are no annoying sound effects. Some games I've played they have the same sound effects going round and round which is really annoying. This just sounded realistic, with a floor board creak here and there, and the rain outside. - It was funny! The game had some nice amusing parts, for example, a live doorknob with a cold (aww bless!) and the cutest imp type thing which made cute little noises.....even though it looked really evil. - Good game length. Took me many hours to complete the game and that's with no skipping or hints. - A proper ending! Some games just end suddenly with no closure or explanation. This had a good ending, with an explanation of what happened and stuff. NOT LIKED: - There's a lot of back-tracking! Often you find an object which needs to be used about 10 scenes ago. Did get a big frustrating. - Live action. Not a fan of live actors for the characters. Find it a bit weird, but some people may like this. All in all, I really enjoyed the game and would definitely recommend it.
Challenge yourself in the role of the scientist-historian-scholar of ancient civilizations and mystical legends and save your friend from the Demon of Darkness!
This is an awesome game, my favourite to date. Liked pretty much everything about it. LIKED: - Game length: It was just long enough to feel like you've got your money's worth, but not too long that you got bored - Special objects: The special objects that you had to collect and change into something else was great. Really original. - Changing rooms: Another fab original aspect was the changing of rooms when in the light or in the dark. Really cool! - Puzzles/H0 scenes: There were more puzzles than H0 scenes which I like because too many H0 scenes just bores me. Plus I like the added 'placing of objects in the scene' sometimes, rather than all H0 scenes. NOT LIKED: - Lag: There was only one thing that annoyed me and that was the slight lag in the mouse point; and by that I mean that when I moved the mouse point, sometimes it took a while to catch up and was very slow. But that's the only bad thing I found. Would totally recommend this game.
Overall, I enjoyed the game. However, after playing the first Haunted Halls, I was a tiny bit disappointed with this sequel. It was a lot shorter and didn't have the spookiness and fun of the first one. But...most of the puzzles were original and I enjoyed doing them. They were quite easy but then that's fine for me as I prefer casual play anyway. and it was a good continuation from Green Hills. I'd probably recommend getting the CE version so you have a bit of extra game play at the end. I was kind of left wanting to do more.
Loved this game, really enjoyed playing it. Spooky, easy to understand storyline, good mixture of inventory based puzzles and H0 scenes. And it was a really good length; several hours, if not more. The only slight issue I had was that I really hated the same 10 second sound effect of screaming people and crying babies that played over and over and over throughout the entire game. I had to turn the sound down! But that was my only bad point. Loved the rest!
I'm absolutely loving this game. I can't believe some of the bad reviews this game has got. It's not boring and certainly not just a H0 game. There's lots of mini puzzles and loads of items to collect and use throughout the game. Ok, some of the puzzles are easy, but who wants to be stuck and tearing your hair out on every puzzle you come across. Personally I thought the graphics were lovely and didn't find the music intrusive or annoying. I would definitely recommend the game.
