Your younger Sister is celebrating her birthday and you give her a crystal ball. Suddenly a bunch of guys in hooded robes pop up and grab her. Lucky you gets a hood thrown over your head from behind and you're tied up. Then they set your antique store on fire. Rather than call 911, once you get loose, you run around the place completing puzzles to open the cabinet where you hid the fire extinguisher. You run outside to see them going off, dragging Sis. Again you ignore the possibilities in calling 911, and run around getting a map and helping a neighborhood stray cat to walk vertically up a ribbon to hiss at a bird. This is actually a good thing, no matter how impossible, as the bird had stolen the key to your sister's new motor scooter. You pause to see the front of your shop collapse and take off after the bad guys.
Did I mention you are carrying around that crystal ball you gave as a present? It has the spirit of a seer in it and she'll be your helper on this adventure.
Good stuff: The artwork is well done. There are the usual HOPs with a Match 3 alternative, mini-games, and another bout between good and evil. There are "familiars" to collect - think fuzz balls with one eye showing - and CE bling including what looks to be two extra chapters.
Bad stuff: You've seen it all before. This is another repititious sequel in a series that has no need of a sequel - especially since the earlier games dealt with the Guardians and this one has gone for the Seers. Just another good and evil battle with a helper who waves her arms a lot. I also completed the demo in a distressingly short amount of time - never a good sign.
Please try the demo for yourself. I'm done.
I don't recommend this game.

You've been called to Blake's Mountain to help Hunter Hank and his family as they once again face a threat. You arrive to find you are locked out of the town due to a strict curfew decreed by the League of Light detective - Hey, wait! That's you! What goes on here?
You break into town by going over the wall a few feet from the guard and land at the feet of another guard who promptly cold cocks you. Good luck!
Good Stuff: The little boy scarecrow is your helper. There are the usual game elements.
Bad stuff:The artwork is alternating grainy/blurry/ clear through the continual rain in the demo. The game elements are lack luster. The opening animation has nothing to do with what you see in the rest of the demo and there is nothing in the story except your presumed desire to save Hunter Hank who has once again been turned into a scarecrow.
A demo is supposed to introduce us to a game and make us want to buy it so we can finish the game and learn the end of the story. If all I see in the demo is a set of disjointed bits and pieces, that really won't entice me to buy this game. With hundreds of games available, I can't afford to buy one with a demo this bad in the hope it will improve.
Play the demo and draw your own conclusions.
I don't recommend this game.

As the fourth entry in the Ominous Objects series, this game is much like the others.
There is an evil figure up to no good, randomly kidnapping unsuspecting people. You play as Leia Gofford and arrive to investigate a camera which seems to be at the heart of the mystery. You are accompanied by your faithful cat, Mr. Jenkins, and joined briefly by a young helper, Morganna.
Good stuff: All the usual game elements are present, artwork is nice, story is OK, there are morphing objects and collectibles and CE bling as well as a Match 3 alternative to the HOPs. Best News: You don't have to feed or dress Mr. Jenkins.
Bad stuff: There is just so much ordinary here that, if you don't want to go to the end of the story, it is easy to walk away.
Please try the demo before you buy - ordinary may be just what you want this time.

You have a story to lead you through the 110 different puzzles of this new game just as in the previous seven World Mosaics games. This time you are sent to fix fictional books that had been stolen and rearranged by Victor Vile, whom you have recently caught. You start your adventure in the tale of "Beauty and the Beast."
Good Stuff: As in previous World Mosaic games, you will be filling in the squares of each puzzle to uncover a mosaic picture that depicts the next part of the story. There will be eleven chapters with ten puzzles in each chapter. Each chapter and puzzle will have a brief paragraph adding to the story.
Bad stuff: We've had to wait since 2013, when World Mosaics 7 came out, and 2014, when World Mosaics Chroma appeared online as a free download, to finally have this new game available. After Fugazo bit the dust in 2015, a new World Mosaics seemed only a dream. Thank heaven, the wait is over!
I have hundreds of HOP/ Adventure games on my computer, but after a long bout of playing one of them, there is the quiet pleasure of a puzzle or Match3 game as contrast. World Mosaics has always been my alternative of choice and I've played all the previous ones repeatedly. While I've enjoyed them - even the umpteenth time around, I've longed for a new one and thought that there would be no more after the shutting down of Fugazo in 2015.
You will excuse me if I'm a little giddy with the joy of one more new World Mosaics.
If you like these puzzle games, rejoice with me! If you haven't tried one, this one has as good a tutorial as previous games in the series and is a good way to try this type of game. Download the Demo and Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

You have been called to the Maybard estate by the murdered man's sister. Emmet Maybard was murdered and the attorney is coming to read his will. You arrive in time to get the door knocker ring from the dog and witness the murder of the murdered man's friend, Isabel, who has sipped some poisoned water. Luckily the doctor, who happens to be in the house, sends you to find his missing equipment. And then the attorney feels perfectly comfortable asking you, a lady detective, to climb a tree to break into the study of the murdered man to open his safe.
Good stuff: All the usual game elements are present including HOPs with Match 3 alternative, mini-games, and a story line.
Bad stuff: I don't know where to begin... How about a doctor that asks the detective to find his basic equipment? The guest who asks a stranger to find her a fan? The detective who opens a family member's package to get out a brand new fan for the guest? The attorney who asks a woman in full nineteenth century long skirts and lace gloves to climb a tree to break into the sealed off crime scene? Or should we start with the detective willing to climb a tree and break into the study for papers the attorney was unwilling to tell the police he needed out of the crime scene? Or we can weep over the "extra ability" of the detective that is a horrific addition to the game, clunky, and only partially working. And finally there are the mini-games, in which case, the less said, the better.
Somewhere in there is the moment I threw up my hands and ran for the door - or in this case, the exit button on the main menu. I beta tested this turkey and begged them to fix it. I thought it had great potential. Now I just think it is DOA and needs to be buried in an unmarked grave!
For heavens sake, try the demo before you buy.

Your sister, Margaret, is the only survivor of an explosion at Stonehenge while there with a group of magnetic anomaly investigators. The Explosion ripped portals open between earth and two other worlds, one of ice and snow and one of fire and heat. The extreme effects are endangering earth. As a well known detective as well as Margaret's brother, the authorities are willing to let you in to the area to investigate - and, hopefully, resolve this disaster for them.
Good stuff: a variety of HOPs with a Match 3 alternative, lots of mini-games, an interesting story, 83 collectible marsh lights, 35 morphing objects, collectible artifacts, and CE bling.
Bad stuff: As Margaret was a minor member of the investigating team, it seems strange that the authorities seem to hold her responsible for the disaster. Some of the sound effects are odd, like the crickets chirping as the snow falls inside the first portal. There is a lot of back and forth with some actions just strangely protracted to get from point A to point B - I find an arrow head that I use to carve an antler into an axe to cut a large leaf to use as a stretcher to drag a man out of the cold and into his home nearby - extra strange because I had a piece of matting that would have done the same thing. And don't ask how many times I have to find similar tools to finish some task. Some of the dialogue is odd also: "My fingers are so numb, I feel like I could fall asleep at any moment."
All in all it is an OK game to while away a weekend afternoon.
Please try the demo for yourself.
I recommend this game!

A refreshing twisted take on Alice in Wonderland transports you to Shadowland where the Princess of Hearts will capture your shadow and turn you into a mindless slave. You will have to elude the Princess' mechanical army directed by the Hatter and, not only get your own shadow back, but save the shadow slaves whose bodies are back in the human world in comas.
Good stuff: A variety of HOPs and good mini-games, lots of interesting characters, gorgeous artwork creating an intriguing new world, a good story that is a twist on the classic, and CE bling. You'll have a few new tools - a charm that locates lost items after you complete a puzzle; a watch that lets your consciousness travel between your body and your shadow; and a magic bottle that entraps Jack who will cast spells for you when you find a piece of the bottle's seal. The music is really good and the songs sound specially written for the game and are also well done. (And I have NEVER before recommended the music in a game!)
Bad stuff: Occasionally things get a bit dark, but that's all I've got, which is actually a good thing!
I was really impressed with today's new game. Give it a try and you'll see why there are so many stellar reviews.
I recommend this game!

You haven't seen Grandpa since you were a child, but today you received an urgent letter from him. He asked you to come to Palermo as soon as possible and sent a small key.
You rush off on the journey and arrive to find Grandpa's antique shop turned upside down and Grandpa nowhere to be found. After a careful search, you are on your way to church, where Grandpa has left you a small box for that key he sent. You are on your way to adventure.
Good stuff: The artwork is beautifully drawn with crisp clear lines and nicely balanced color. There are the usual game elements present for an SE. You have Grandpa's watch, which will shift you between night and day after you have it repaired. And there is an interesting zoom feature present in every scene and HOP.
Bad stuff: The game moves slowly and takes its time about getting anywhere. The HOPs are straight list with occasionally a couple of objects with extra steps to find them. The puzzles are pedestrian with minimal instructions. The story moves glacially and has been told before - a lot. And that zoom feature, which was great in the HOPs for the incredibly tiny items to find, is not so amusing when it kicks in at other places in the game.
I would recommend this game as an alternative to melatonin or other sleep aid.
Please try it before you buy.

Once again a new addition to an established series, once again a disappointment.
Our detective is going on vacation, on a train which is also being ridden by a colleague from Mystery Trackers, who will be in a car farther up the train. Almost as soon as the train starts, strange creatures come down the corridor and lock you into your compartment where you proceed to break the switch on Elf's carrier, try to assemble a badge to open a bag on a high shelf, and loot the chief's package you were supposed to deliver. Oh, yes, and looked at news clippings from a case you have abandoned to go on vacation.
Is anyone else thinking this does not sound like a promising Mystery Trackers game?
Good stuff: A variety of HOPs, various collectibles, a strange group of villains/aliens(?), good artwork, and CE bling.
Bad stuff: Mini-game instructions are sometimes esoteric (or perhaps fanciful would be more kind), a new piece of lock opening equipment that involves a bland Match 3 game, and a story that makes no sense in any world - two floors on a train car? A gun spring that works a button? Better yet - you wasted your only bullet shooting a lock off a trap door in the floor AFTER you saw the creatures!
Look, I know it's a game, but we are used to a certain level of play in Mystery Trackers and this game just isn't there yet. Maybe they could send it back to the drawing board!
In the meantime, please try the demo first.
I don't recommend this game.

Twin evil witches have been sent to grab a good witch and use her to retrieve a magic staff that will enable the bad witches to take over the world. Naturally the wizard, Edwin, who gave his life to protect the staff with a spell, did not foresee the bad witches being devious enough to force some good witch to help them. In this case the good witch is Annabel and you play as her fiance, Jack, who is determined to fix things and restore order along with saving Annabel.
Good stuff: Multi layered HOPs, collectible puzzle pieces and morphing objects, and some CE bling.
Bad stuff: The artwork is not as crisp and clean as in earlier games in the series. The VOs and characterizations are fair to middlin'. The puzzles are beyond easy and several seem to have been inserted just to say they were there. Everything is cute, except the story line, which is just another save-the-world rehash. There are so many cute things, I am at a loss on where to start, but the ferret helper is definitely over the top.
This game seems put together from various bits left over from other projects and needs serious work before it can be average. It is another example of a rush to market mentality where older series are involved.
Please try the game before you buy.
I don't recommend this game.
