When I don't want to use my mind but want to enjoy playing a game, this is a great alternative. It is basically self-explanatory. There are multiple types of jar containers to choose from that vary according to difficulty. You can choose the marble color which also changes the challenge level. Or, choose to race against the clock. There are various multiple settings and challenge levels that makes this unique and fun. Never tiresome. The player determines what level of difficulty they want. They can choose whether to race against the clock. If they decide to race the clock, they can select specific time lengths to race against: 5 min, 10 min, 15 or 20 minutes. Or, go without the clock (but I don't care for the open-end playing time because it isn't as challenging). I am surprised the reviews aren't better because this a basic, fun, and simple yet challenging game. Mindless or not. It's up to the individual and what he or she decides to make of it.

I really wanted to like this game and was also expecting the topic to be what the title alluded to -- the magi. I thought that one would go back into history and that the story would eventually take place in Biblical times with the magi. It ended up being a modern story of magic and fighting evil. Once I accepted the storyline as it was, I still was not enthralled with the game. Rather than enjoy it, I aimed to get get through it.
This is classified as HO but I'll warn people that there were few hidden object scenes. It contained primarily mini-games which I unfortunately found to be very frustrating. I did more skipping than actual playing of them. In some, the directions were not the most explicit. In short, it just wasn't up to par along other HOs games I have enjoyed. Rather than being classified as HO I felt it was more along the lines of adventure but that's just my own personal opinion. I cannot recommend this if a person is looking for more HO scenes. The storyline was average.

This is where I'm grateful for BF's trials. I wanted to like this. In fact, I enjoy match 3 games but not this one. This was a different type of Match 3 that I found to be frustrating.
Immediately upon starting, the first thing that I did was mute the sound. Annoying. That said, I believe the music and/or sound was intentional -- to help create a sense of 'agitation' to add 'excitement' but it had the opposite effect on me. Instead, I found myself feeling more and more grumpy. No fun in that.
Essentially, it was high pressure repetition -- a different kind of match 3 that I did not do well under. There was a redeeming factor to it even though I wouldn't buy it -- it could help improve a person's manual dexterity (under pressure). In that case, not a bad way to improve dexterity.

The characters and story line in itself is fun. That is where it stops for me. I personally found this to be rather difficult and not worth buying. I love a good challenge but I had to hit hint so many times that it lost its appeal. The bonus games didn't seem to work properly. I did it correctly yet it didn't take. The painting of the soldier is one example. Just follow the picture. Right? Not in my experience. This is such a rarity for me. I usually can figure things out but not this game. Ultimately, my goal is to enjoy a game, not be forced to continually get help from the hint button. According to other reviews, a good percentage find this fun and challenging but for me, it was very disappointing.
I love doing puzzles. This was not even fun. It went from boringly easy - tailored more for young children - to extremely difficult. No inbetween. No pics to refer to with the more difficult levels. It was a matter of guessing where the pieces went. Each time you miss, you're docked points. What good is it if you can't even refer to anything to give a clue to the finished product? It is simply a matter of guessing and if you like to guess and reguess and reguess, then this might interest you. For me, I'd rather see some progress, if even minor. This one's not for me.
The other James Patterson games were fun. challenging and if one got stuck, could easily get help. Not with this game. No way to get help. No instructions available. It was terrible. This is sadly the second bad review today. I'm striking out. Glad I didn't buy this.

Not only did this not make sense, which tells me that I am not geared to this kind of game, but there was no way in which to exit the game. I had to do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get out. I'm sorry and I may be in the minority here but this had no challenge, no fun, nothing!

I am basing this solely on the CE trial edition. I played the trial in two different installments. I found it frustrating on multiple levels. The hint didn't work at times. Was not helpful at other times. The game was frustrating overall and wasn't even enjoyable. What made it worse was the lack of help, no walkthrough. Most disappointing! :((
I found this fun. Different challenging levels and power ups made it ideal. As you accrue points by matching 3 you use those points to buy ornaments, lights and decor for your tree as well as presents for beneath it. The tree does offer everything. Look for the different categories which offer presents, bulbs, stars, and more (am going on memory at this point after trying the trial version). The decorating categories not being used are faded out when not actively using that section. The graphics were simple and nice. I enjoyed the matching 3 more than decorating the tree but decorating was fun too. Normally, I tend to mute my games because I find that to be detracting but due to the fact that this was Christmas-oriented I wanted to give the music a fair try. Well, let's just say that I ended up muting it and continued on with the game without the sound. That doesn't mean that the music was bad. I just found it to be detracting as time passed.
This was very enjoyable. Very well thought through and planned by the developers. Nice music. Beautiful graphics. The game itself was a lot of fun. I liked the different goals and challenges it offered. Definitely would recommend.
