Some of the mini-games were really fun! Until I reached one that I didn't want to play and furthermore, gave a timeframe of ONE HOUR before I could skip it! This is NUTS and I will be uninstalling this. If you can't skip a mini-game, it isn't worth it no matter how fun it is.

I read the reviews and for some reason, overlooked the negative reviews on this game. What a disappointment this game was! Talk about BORING! It was awful. Maybe I didn't catch whatever instruction there was but based on the simplicity of this, I would be surprised that it has any instructions. Yet, I found myself repeating the same scenes over and over. Never advanced. What the heck? Honestly, this was really dull. I've played many HO games and got this because the story line wasn't so dark or demonic. In my opinion, this isn't worth the money or the time. Others might disagree with me so I always say try it and see. That's what is so nice about Big Fish... the best game site on the Internet.

I played the trial and to my surprise fell in love with this game. The graphics at first made me wonder if this would be for kids only but I'm glad I gave it a try. This game is truly creative, different, challenging, and... just... plain... fun. I wondered how the creators came up with this because it is so different than the others. I get tired of the dark themes and enjoy a change which this provided. It an be played by anyone, young and old.
I'm not into music in any of these games but usually enjoy the sounds. This game not only had good sounds they were uniquely different than any other. And, the sound that plays when clicking on the right object made it uniquely satisfying. The mini games are also fun, plus, if you don't want to play the normal mini-game, you can always opt to play a regular HOG which is also fun.
In short, the creator(s) did a superb job creating this. This is very different from the average HOG. Am glad I tried it and will be buying it.

This is one of those times when I'm grateful for the free trial versions. They spare us from feelings of regret. Rather than moan, I'm grateful I didn't buy this.
I'm a HUGE fan of crossword puzzles. After playing them for decades I honestly thought this would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for my enthusiasm to wane because of poor graphics. They were dark, bled together, were shadowy, and most importantly, lacked clarity.
It would be great if the developers could upgrade the graphics but I question if that would ever occur because this game seems to have been around for a while. Bummed.

I'm going to be a Grinch. In this case, Christmas doesn't come from a game -- this game stole my Christmas.
Doing the demo was enough to show me how much I disliked this game. I went into it, thinking it might have potential and be fun. Nope. Not only was it un-Christmassy, I may as well have been playing a regular detective HOG.
The worst part came when after trying hard to figure out this game I started to question whether I lost my gaming abilities. Even considered making an appointment for testing until I saw other reviews and realized I wasn't the only one. Cancel that appointment!
Overall, it was dreary (topic and graphics). I tried hard to find the good in it but as it turned out, I had to rely too much on the hint button to continue with the game.
Quite honestly, I don't understand the positive reviews. Perhaps it was played on an off-day. Whatever the case, I just know that it was anything but fun. Sadly, a waste of a good time that could be had playing my other Christmas games.
Positive takeaway: this was one game where I felt immensely grateful for the HINT and SKIP buttons.

The story line had great potential but that was, unfortunately, where it ended.
The positive: I've always found it difficult to get into HOG stories. In fact, I usually ignore the conversation(s), but with this game, I was REALLY interested! The fact that it not only caught my attention but kept me interested was quite an achievement. Unfortunately, that's where the positive ends.
Challenges/Negatives:
The sound in this grew more and more irritating as the game progressed. I'm speaking of a specific sound that played whenever a task was completed, which was frequent.
As for the game in general: (Confession time) I've played HOGs for many years but for some reason, this game made me feel like a real numbskull. I found myself continually clicking the hint button. Perhaps I played this on an off-day, I don't know but even the hint option wasn't of much help. I eventually quit when I couldn't figure out how to unlock a silly briefcase.
I wanted to like this because the story was so appealing plus I wanted to find out how it ended. Guess that won't happen. Such is life as they say. I'm just thankful I realized this was not for me before I finished the demo.
Re: the question of whether I recommend this game... I wish I could skip that question because I believe this is a matter of personal preference, skill, challenge, etc. Every person is different. There's no valid reason for me to say I don't recommend it. Reading other reviews, some enjoyed it and other's didn't. Please don't go according to my answer but try the demo and see for yourself.

For people with neurological conditions, be careful when trying this game. I'm not the first to encounter this based on the forum of WWB. I also couldn't exit the game without resorting to doing a Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the Task Manager and end the horrible flash lighting. The audio worked fine but the game has real problems. Can't recommend even trying it.

Overall I thought this was cute and fun. Loved the music (although it eventually became repetitive) and really appreciated the change of pace from the average dark HOGs. Enjoyed the cowboy theme with horses, and related topics. The programmers deserve kudos for creativity.
There were, however, a couple of things that should be addressed. Game designers please listen up: the word definitions and spelling should be checked before the game is submitted. For instance, one scene called to find "thongs." Even though I'm of the older generation where thongs were known as flip flop footwear today, they could also be interpreted as a G-strings. In short, thong has two general different meanings. Consequently, in view of those two definitions, I looked for what seemed to be an eternity but couldn't find any thongs. After giving up and clicking the hint button, I discovered that the so-called "thongs" were in reality, "TONGS!" Fwiw, a tong is an instrument (or tool) used to manipulate items in a fire without having to reach into the fire using one's hands. THongs, on the other hand, are either footwear or something worn under clothing, such as a G-string or a swimsuit bottom.
Some items were extremely hard to find. For instance, I had to find a candle. After looking and looking, I saw in the far distance, a teeny, tiny thin object that I guessed was the candle. That was it. But I would not have ever normally considered it to be a candle.
One other challenging piece was being reprimanded for clicking too often. I don't mind being penalized if I click too often but not when I'm being careful to avoid doing so. Because some of the items were hard to find, I did find myself clicking more often than average. I was warned to "slow down" (which was fine) yet even after switching to a snail's clicking pace the game still seemed to think I was click-galloping too fast and continued to warn me to slow down. That became annoying.
Even though those things aren't major they do affect the quality of the game. Is it worth paying for? Depends. For me -- no, just because I want to know the definition of the item that I need to find. That was enough to interfere with the enjoyment of the game. Apart from that, the game has great potential and the theme was a delightful change. I hope that the second one worked out the issues that this one had.

Generally speaking overall, these are truly fun games but BEWARE! The developer did not consider that there is a population out there who, due to physical limitations, cannot finish the timed mini-games. I've encountered this with another of these Dream games. I have to be honest, it is infuriating that there is no option to skip the mini-games and finish the main game. The time provided is simply unrealistic (I'd even guess among some able-bodied players). Consequently, it is frustrating beyond belief and has ruined the game. Apart from myself, I can think of two people I know who love HO games but could never pass these insanely timed mini-games because of physical limitations. Once again, I regret having bought these Dream games. EXTREMELY disappointed!!!

This is a fun HO game but I take great exception with the match games. For the most part, they're fun but the flip flop where it has numerous and I mean NUMEROUS different patterns is INSANELY nuts. I'm very good at match games but the flip flop (advanced one) drove me to quit the blasted game. What makes it worse is that you can't skip it. I won't repeat what I said to the screen but I am not happy that I cannot progress on this without passing that frickin game. Designers -- this needs to be redone, redesigned or gotten rid of entirely. Apart from that, it's a decent and fun game. I won't be finishing this, thanks to that grand (sarc) game. I am going to recommend this but wish there were a third option of "Maybe."
