If you had a large experimental laboratory, put a deranged scientist in charge and gave him a cartoony body and voice, add a cartoony monster and a suspenseful story... you'd have this game. A scientist disappears when his daughter is a little kid. When she grows up, she starts searching for answers to what happened to her father, and ends up in danger herself. It's a fun game with lots of different kinds of puzzles and interactive games within games. But don't take it seriously. The graphics are mostly good, although a few are blurry. The voice-overs are very good. Only the deranged scientist has a cartoony voice. The other people have normal voices and appearance. The music is pretty good and appropriate, if a bit repetitive. The hints are so good that if you get stuck, they'll help you get unstuck. It's not a super-difficult game, but I did need the hint a few times. And had to use skip a couple of times, too. If you're new to this kind of game, note that, even though the game is set in the US, the hints often use European words: Lift instead of Elevator, Torch instead of Flashlight, etc. Thankfully, it doesn't have people driving on the left side of the road.
This is a children's game. Everything is simplistic and cartoony except for the Celtic music, which is beautiful. The intro is spoken with a strange, deep voice. This game is too boring for me, but I wish there was a way to download the background music, which changes with each level. Although I hate timed games, I do like my games to be challenging in other ways. This game is not challenging. No voice-overs like there are in Fairway with the anchors and that wonderful, temperamental Scotsman.
This game has good graphics, voice-overs and music. A circus magician disappears, and you're hired to find him. You have several suspects, and each one of them behaves suspiciously when you approach them. Hint takes a long time to recharge, but I rarely needed it. HOS and puzzles are easy. The map is a joke. It gives you a general idea of the layout of the area you're working, but that's it. The journal describes the main characters and the clues you find. If you like easy HOS/puzzle games, this is for you. If you like a good adventure, skip this one.
This is almost pure HOS/puzzle with a very thin veneer of adventure. Good graphics. Good music. Characters in the game often ignore ominous letters, threats, etc that are highlighted. Hints are helpful most of the time. Many objects have to be combined into tools, using parts found in various parts of a scene. Assembly is easy. If you like an easy HOS, this should be a good game for you.
Reveal the twisted plan of a deranged magician who has his own Vendetta against the world! And uncover a secretive world of magicians and discover the power they have held and passed down through the centuries!
Loved the first Shattered Minds. Thought this one would be very good as well. Nope. Good graphics, ok puzzles and HOS, ok voice-overs. Boring game play. The hint is only helpful in HOS. There is a link to a walk-through on the download page, and I needed to look at that walk-through two or three times. When I look at a walkthrough, I only look when I absolutely have to, and only at the part I'm confused about. If I checked the walkthrough for every puzzle and task, what's the point of playing the game?
Right off, this has a feel of an old game. Storyline: Ditzy female causes a time paradox, which could end the world as she knows it. Handsome male helps her return things to normal, saving humanity. Dialogue is robotic. Graphics are clear, but what you are supposed to do in a scene is less clear. Moving from one area to another can be frustrating. Hints are rarely helpful outside HOS. Puzzles are easy to moderately difficult.
This game has everything: good storyline, good graphics and audio, different types of puzzles to solve, not just HOS. The puzzles range from moderately challenging to difficult. For me, the story is very important, and this game did not disappoint. Strange, large dogs have been attacking people near your town, and then they kidnap your dog, in front of your children. You set out to rescue your dog, and end up being an investigator. The Strategy Guide is a good one, with pictures and instructions. The map, not so helpful, until you get farther into the game. Hints are usually helpful, but not always. There is a journal which is interesting, and not intrusive. i.e. it's not one of those that pops up unexpectedly. You choose when- or even if- you read it.
This is one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. Although it didn't take long to figure out the basic storyline, and how it was probably going to end, the game was stretched out by endless back and forth trips. Also, the graphics were too grainy, grimy and disordered in many cases, even in the hospital! Please! I used to work in a hospital before I retired, and it never looked like that! Bought it at the DD price to see if the end was what I thought it would be, and it was. Liked the story, hated the gameplay that came with it.
I don't recommend this game.

Seems to me that the developers of this game spent so much time making sure it was compatible with Apple's newest OS, that they forgot all about the mechanics of the game itself. This game seems unfinished to me. In fact, it has the feel of a student's project, for which I give a C for visuals, and an F for everything else.
After your ship is sunk by the Flying Dutchman, you find out your friend has lost everything, even his freedom, and has become a slave on the Flying Dutchman. So, you decide to find a way to free him. The graphics are wonderful and the music is good. The pirate captain looks creepy, but he isn't scary. In fact, he talks like Captain Flint in Walt Disney's Treasure Island, a movie I watched many years ago. Tasks make sense, and the puzzles are good ones. The strategy guide is very helpful, and the hints are moderately helpful. HOS is clutter, but not dirty junk, and I appreciate that. Objects you find are useful. There is a good journal, to give you the feeling of the game. The level of challenge is moderately difficult, but the hints are only helpful if you are in an area with a task or HOS. Several "Flying Dutchman" games have been released by other developers recently, but only three for Mac's. I bought two of those, and love them! But Secrets of the Seas, Flying Dutchman, just didn't "grab" me like the others did.
