I have played all the games in this series, so the game made as much sense to me as any of the others. This has always been a confusing storyline for me. The artwork is not always in sync with the era, which throws me off. Then the whole supernatural thing seems silly because it's taken in stride. Ho hum, my sister has become a werewolf along with her husband, but our crazy brother is the one that gets locked up. The Gray family certainly has more than it's share of problems! But the good parts IMO are the length and difficulty and uniqueness of the puzzles and HOPs, which were very good in this particular game. There were some lame letters and notes that took extra time to uncover (only to find they were just lame notes saying the same thing over and over). OK, we get it, your poor crazy brother has escaped and is seeking revenge. I'm recommending this game for the gaming factor only.
Travel from the deepest trenches of the Atlantic Ocean to the awe-inspiring wonders of Mars as you solve the greatest archeological puzzle known to man: the origin of Atlantis.
My kind of game because I love adventure and puzzles over HOPs. However the HOPs in this CE are interactive so they were fun as well. The puzzles are challenging, inventive, but not overwhelming. They are logical to solve, and not daunting. Too many games are riddled with illogical puzzles that get frustrating. But here they kept me actively involved and curious. There was a lot of content to this game as well, and a nice bonus that followed along with the storyline and didn't shirk on content. Love Eipix! They deliver great games.
The graphics, music and voiceovers were all pretty good, and that gave an overall nice ambiance. And that's just about it for the positive things.
The plot was pretty lame.
The puzzles were all fairly easy. Perhaps if they had been more challenging, more time would have been spent and the game may have seemed to last 1/2 hour longer.
The HOGs were interactive and nicely done. (One more positive.)
I just couldn't believe how short it was. I may have spent 3.5 hrs tops, and that's including the alternate ending and the bonus chapter. And I was taking my time.
And the alternate ending, really? Really? I won't give it away, but Really???
This was a very entertaining game, with lots to do, good puzzles and fun interactive HOGs. But best of all, it never seemed to end. The scenery was imaginative and gorgeous. The bonus game was well thought out and the extra games at the end were just icing on the cake.
This is a very nice "who done it?" And you get to interview suspects and discover clues a little differently than in other detective games. I appreciated that it was more adventure than HOGs, and when there were HOGs, they weren't your typical ones. Very pleasing graphics, and a fairly difficult but doable level of challenge make this game one I highly recommend.
On the plus side, it's relatively long, and the storyline is engaging. And a new, to me, style using a court proceeding with flashbacks to search for clues.
The negatives were the movie clues that looked amateur compared to the graphics of the main game, and the ending which seemed ridiculous, but then again it is a story in a game.
I'm recommending it solely on the fact that it gives a lot of entertainment for a Standard game. But it wasn't one of the best I've played this year.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
First, a Voldemort look alike as the villain! I really thought it was Ralph Fiennes, until I did some research. Well done! But on to the actual game. I'm not yet done, but already I see a huge improvement to this genre. This is a mystery I love, because it's actually mysterious! I've had a few struggles and had to think outside the box several times, so the game is not easy, but it is doable. And yes, it's creepy. Finally! So many games are touted as thrillers, but fall very far short of that mark. This game is thrilling and dark, but also very challenging. I suppose since I'm an older adult, and have lots of experience, I can find this game quite entertaining. I know my grandchildren would not have issues, but some other younger players might. I do think they would be in the minority, however. I'm glad someone's taking the risk to produce something more adult, in nature. As there are a lot of us "mature" players out there desiring more sophisticated games. And I was very critical of MCF in the past for making Shadow Lake, with Lea Thompson (who I love) acting like the whole thing was a joke. I like comedies that are funny. Mysteries should be mysterious. And this one is (at least so far). So, thank you MCF for a very cool, creepy game that's also a challenge.
You've returned from school to visit your father at his famous Jazz Pepper Club during Mardi Gras, but everyone is hypnotized. Have they heard the wrong note?
Well done! Entertaining, engaging, thoughtful, great storyline, wonderful graphics, music and ambiance. All that in a pretty long playing game, with captivating puzzles and HOGs. And I have yet to play the bonus! This is the first time I've actually downloaded music from a CE. I hope to see more like this.
You came to the town of Brownville, Louisiana hoping to find a new job. But you weren't expecting to stumble upon a strange adventure in a world filled with beauty and danger!
This was a very different storyline than usual, thank goodness! A fun, whimsical, oddball fantasy world with a great little sidekick you get to name. The graphics were beautifully done. Lip sync was a little off, but I've never played a game yet where it was accurate. And I assume these games are available in different languages so that would make sense. This was also a fairly long game for not being a CE. And it was relatively easy without seeming too easy. I like a challenge, but I don't like challenges that don't make sense. Everything in this game made sense, in an other-worldly way. Hope there are more like this. It was quite enjoyable.
