I have all the Travel Riddle games and although they can be some of the toughest match 3 games I've played, they certainly do not lack for challenge and entertainment.
Very long game that is a combination of being timed, counted moves and puzzles. Juggling your power-ups is the key and some levels get frustrating enough I had to restart a few times until I figured out the strategy I had to use to complete the level.
Interesting history before each level about France which being a historian I really enjoyed. Can be a tough game, but for those who enjoy a challenge....this is for you!
I gave this game a try because I like the occasional match 3 which are few and far between on Big Fish, but this one is truly lacking. I played the "hard" mode in both moves and score (the only two available) and the game was just really boring and without any challenge at all. I couldn't imagine trying to complete the game.
Had to turn the annoying music off, but the graphics were bright and colorful. Like I said, a good Halloween game for those under 8 or 9.
Although this game had very good animations, voice overs and graphics I found it to be a very awkward game to play. It had several game play options to chose from and I chose custom because I could set the hint and skip to recharge very quickly....and that was a good thing in this game.
The map was totally useless to me. It only displayed my position and areas that there was "no activity". Even though the map key indicated a ? would display "something to do", it never did. I used the hint, which was also a transporter to get around the game...which was faster than trying to figure out the map. I found the mini games tedious and the instructions not clear so I skipped almost all of them. HOS were a combination of morphing and list and often too dark so you found yourself clicking in a dark hole to find an object.
Story was cumbersome with strong associations to the "Picture of Dorian Grey" with a lot of weird twists to it.
I did get a bit bored. I like the Grim Tales series, but was a bit disappointed with this one.
Pretty boring game with little challenge or strategy needed. I think this is definitely one of those match 3 games you need to play with the timer to have any challenge at all and it did have the option to play timed. I usually enjoy playing relaxed because I play to have fun, not to stress myself out. Usually the relaxed mode still gives you a challenge, but this one didn't.
Too much story dialog between levels. Bonus rounds were just the same as the regular levels. Graphics were clear and pretty. Not really any fun at all.
Unless you play the game in timed mode, it really does get a bit monotonous. Some of the later levels require strategy, but that's about it.
I played relaxed, but I imagine the timed mode would be VERY difficult unless the timer is VERY generous as they took me quite a way to complete. Lots of things to do on each level.
Some of these time management games I played puts what you collect right in your inventory, but this one requires the little guy to run all the way back to the home base which gets a little irritating and I find a big waste of time. There are interesting bonuses which speed up the collection of items and some were there that didn't make sense.
Anyway, I found it a bit boring on relaxed mode. Don't think I'll try the timed mode. Long game, only 45 levels but like I indicated above, the levels are long.
If I could I would have given this match 3 a 3-. I purchased it on sale without demo because of all the rave reviews. I probably would not have purchased it otherwise.
The voice-overs were just awful, I had to turn the voices off and totally skip the cut-scenes. The little animations were really cute, but the game board never changed in size, just the same-o, same-o. I did not find this game very challenging. True there were some levels with short timers but you just had to figure out their strategy to get through those. Chasing the sheep with the clippers was kind of fun though.
Just basic match 3 gameplay and as a seasoned match 3 player, I can guarantee there are much more challenging and interesting match 3s out there. This game is timed, but the timer is so generous I often forgot about it. I basically found it to be a bit boring and it was a struggle just to finish the whole game.
I realize some gamers really enjoyed this game, but I just don't agree. I love match 3 which are builder games but this one goes over the edge. The most irritating thing about this is you are REQUIRED to plant gardens which get bugs and need to be watered all the time and if you don't, Ishtar or whatever his name is destroys part of whatever you have managed to build.
In order to turn off that annoying boink, boink that occurs every time I click on something or use my mouse also causes me to lose other sound effects. I also had to turn the music down as it seemed to just loop around the same annoying tune.
On top of that, the match 3 game itself is boring. I could not even make it through the demo. Big, colorful jewel flowers that got really old.
Certainly not for the beginner match 3 player, however this first claws and feathers was easier than the 2nd one. Don't get me wrong...not EASY, but easier. I was able to get many more gold stars on this version. I don't drive myself crazy by trying to achieve all gold stars; I honestly think that is impossible, you would be playing this for the rest of your life if that is your goal.
Hard, but lots and lots of fun. Strategy is the key ingredient and you need to be thinking ahead. Not for the faint of heart. Patience is also a requirement. Have fun...don't get frustrated and just quit and say its impossible...its possible and you need to be satisfied with some silver stars and consider that an achievement most of the time!
I have other Enigmatis games so I was expecting something more than I got. I could not even finish the demo because this game was so slow. Same-o Same-o story line...trying to chase down the bad guy, plane catches on fire and crashes..sorting around the site, lots of HOS and mini games...bad voice overs...yada yada yada. Made it about 30 minutes in and decided not to waste my money.
I guess I'm not seeing what everyone else saw. I've certainly played more gripping games.
Good grief, the match 3 game from..... , but what a ride! No easy peasy game was this. Definitely not the game for the Match 3 beginner or novice. Yes, this game is hard and you need to really use your strategy skills and patience. Frustrating to the point sometimes that you just want to toss in the towel.
Its been many years and a lot of game play since I have had to use the forum, but I just had to do it a few times to farm the brains of match 3 players who managed to find a way through some of these levels. Managed to get at least 13 gold stars, but was happy just to get silver on most of the levels!
Wow, what a game! Not for the faint of heart for sure. If you are looking for a real match 3 challenge...go for this one!
