I was one of the few who has never been really impressed with this series, but since this one had such high ratings and I had to use a credit, I purchased it.
Short HOS with quite a few puzzles which continued to get more difficult...well not difficult but more tedious as the game went on. HOS were busy and at times I had to use the hint to find some things. It was good it was a fairly short game because I found myself getting quite bored.
There is no doubt this is the perfect family who are well off which I feel was a bit inappropriate for those players (kids) who would certainly have less. The last scene where the living room was simply packed with gifts and crappola was ridiculous. I think the game's focus could have been more "realistic".
Anyway, it is apparent the majority of gamers thought this game was the "bees knees", but I for one thought it was a bit foolish. Glad it only used up an expiring credit.
I really enjoy this series. Thought provoking play, no hand holding here. I did chose the Custom option for play so the hint and skip refresh quickly. HOS could be a challenge at times and I skipped almost all the mini games/puzzles....don't really have the patience for those.
Voice overs, animations and graphics were very good. I always turn off the music so no comment on that.
Very smooth game play. I suggest you listen to all the cut-scenes and dialog which adds to and clarifies the game and the story. The only issue I have with the game is the ending does leave you "up in the air" a bit. Don't know if it is setting up for another chapter or if (and I hope this isn't true), the continuation is in the Collectors version because I never buy those and I really dislike games that do that.
Not sure why I keep buying these Dark Romances...I think I forget how awkward the game play is.
A LOT of tedious mini games/puzzles and A LOT of HOS, some which are so awkward I actually opted for the match 3.
Story line is a switch between characters, which can be annoying and the game play seems non responsive at times. When an object is picked up it takes a couple of clicks before it goes into your inventory. Transporter map was a big help moving around. Custom setting allow you to set the hint and skip to refresh quicker, but still sets only to 15 seconds which seems like a long time when you are just trying to wade yourself through this game.
Bottom line is sometimes it was so lacking I found myself dozing off. Finally got through it to the very predictable end. Certainly not one I'd play again. Glad it was a credit freebee.
This was a great match 3 game. You play against the computer/game which really adds to the excitment and challenge.
Loved every minute of it until it changed and was no longer a match 3 but just a battle between two ships. Played it over and over and never could win and that takes the fun out of everything. I can understand "challenge", but when it becomes so difficult you can never win and just end of replaying and replaying...it become a no fun game.
So sad, because up until that time, it was terrific fun. I wish it had just stayed a match 3 game. I finally tossed in the towel since the level never seemed to go anywhere. But still, a good game while it was just a match 3.
The evil witch Mortessa has destroyed the Elven Kingdom and it's up to princess Aerin to restore her homeland. Help her defeat the witch in this time management adventure!
I played this one timed/relaxed so I could accrue the stars. The relaxed level doesn't do that in this game. The timed/relaxed level gives you plenty of time. I was able to get 2 to 3 stars on almost every level. It was relaxed.
The third game in this series is much better than this mostly because there is a bit more challenge and also because it doesn't have the really annoying and constant cut-scenes. This level is full of them and even though you can skip right through them, I found them really disruptive.
I have all three of these this series. I can't remember the first one as it was purchased long ago, but my recommendation is now there is a 3 game, spend you money on it and forget this one....unless you can get it on sale and you feel you need the "set".
I always play on relaxed mode so I found this game very enjoyable but still requiring some definate strategy. Even though I played relaxed, you still were awarded stars for each level but the game didn't make you start over like I assume it does in the timed mode.
Not all levels were easy. I got 3's on most in the beginning but there were levels where I got zero and 1's and 2's and even had to restart a few because I picked up the wrong things...a lesson in thinking ahead!
Voice-overs were cute and you could chose the bonus you wanted to incorporate which also took some strategy. I really enjoyed this game and recommend it. I suspect it may be quite a challenge if you play it timed.
I purchased the first royal envoy game back in 2013 so I didn't remember a lot about it when purchasing this game. I played this game on the relaxed mode which still has a timer but if you don't beat the timer it doesn't make you start the level all over again...which was good.
The first few levels were quite easy, but the rest of the game was really hard for me to beat the "timer" or to acquire stars. I'm really not sure how easy or if at all it would be to complete some of these levels under the time limit if you were playing the real "timed" game. I basically went through the entire game (after the first island) only getting one star or less..pretty frustrating; the timer runs pretty fast for the tasks required. There is definitely some specific strategy to this game.
After completion you can go back and try to better your "star" score....I don't think I'm up to that right now. :) This is a game for a real strategist if you want to win each level.
I recommend this game!

Dreampath: Curse of the Swamps
A mystical rain is turning everyone into frogs! It's up to you to find the cause of this wicked weather and save your loved ones.
Good grief....this game was tedious...tedious game play, tedious puzzles/mini games, tedious HOS (although the were inventive). I got so bored playing this game that I actually found myself dosing off and so anxious to get it over with I just started using the hint. A lot of puzzles and HOS....I actually found myself losing track of the airhead story line. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 is because I really dislike using the word "hate" for anything....but this came pretty darn close.
Go here, pick up one little piece of an item; go there, go here, put it there, pick it up here. Seriously this is one of the worst.
The transporter map only indicated where things needed to be done, not where the next action point is, therefor you guess where to go next.. that gets old. I found the game awkward and choppy.
Seriously the only good part was it is a very colorful game, although silly. Very nice graphics and animations, so if you just like watching that, then the game might be for you.
This game seemed short to me...maybe because it was such a smooth flowing game with colorful graphics and excellent animations. The main reason it got only a 4 is because the cut-scenes and voice-over dialogs were really annoying and I skipped all of these which didn't seem to affect the game.
HOS were interactive and quite unique. Mini games/puzzles seemed more tedious than difficult. I don't like these, so I usually skip almost all of them unless I can finish them quickly and get on with the game.
Storyline was same-o...witch comes back after girl and detective stops it, but I found the game fun and easy going. No big challenge here.
Transporter map was excellent! I chose the custom option so I could eliminate the annoying tutorial and change the hint/skip refresh times as low as possible.
