The seventh game in the Dark Parables series by Blue Tea Games ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another beautifully made Dark Parables game. This time it's about Rapunzel in a rather twisted story. There are 3 levels of difficulties. As usual FROGs instead of the usual finding items in the list.
The map is unfortunately still cannot transport you to places. It's probably the only hindrance I have with the game, with all the newer games have interactive map, this one is still rather ancient.
Puzzles are also their usual variety, story telling puzzles, and skipping them cost about 3 minutes of disabled hint button.
Bonus contents are the usual stuff but what I like the most is as usual the Parables Notes.
Graphics are as usual, great, but the VO.. umm, just okay for me. I still prefer the previous game (Jack and the Sky Kingdom) as it offers more adventure, so I think I will wait for SE of this one.
For 25 years, you thought you had no family. But one night, a man steps through a mirror from another world, claiming to be your uncle... changing your life forever.
I have never heard of this game studio before but I decided to give it a try because of the rather positive reviews.
There are 3 levels of difficulties and three games story: main, bonus and hidden. The intro is quite confusing. There is no narration so I have no idea what's happening. But after the game starts, it tells again the story about a supposedly orphaned girl finding out that her parents still alive, and we, as the main character has to find out what happens to our parents and doing so, can save the world from destruction. Sounds familiar? The game develops further with us have to go through 4 portals and using amulet to get through the doors. Again, a recycled story. I don't like portals and amulets, sorry, but the amulet doesn't serve any purpose other than opening doors. We, playing as the world savior once again.. Is there nothing new here?
HOPs are the usual finding objects in the list. Puzzles are moderate, from easy to quite difficult, but the skip button recharges terribly slowly even though I am in the easiest mode. Graphic is actually ok, I find the VO of the main character a bit off, no expression or emotion. Map is pretty much just boxes put next to each other, no outline of places at all. I just need to see the marking of active objectives. SG is not really useful as the game line is pretty easy. Hint itself is sufficient.
I finished the demo in one portal door, in less than 1 hour. If there're only 4 portal doors, you can imagine how short this game is. Better save your money for other CE.
Bonus chapter is the usual stuff. I don't see anything special or new. I am sorry but I have to skip this game. Doesn't want to play a game with story that been as old as time.
I don't recommend this game.

Dreampath: The Two Kingdoms Collector's Edition
Your sister, the Queen, has fallen deathly ill. Now you must travel to a faraway kingdom to find the cure.
There are 3 levels of difficulties. Beautiful, soft colored graphics, very easy on the eyes. Nice VO. The cat Muir reminds me of Talking Tom :) I think he's cute.
The game plot is not difficult to understand. Game story is linear and pretty easy, no SG is needed. The map itself is very useful, and can transport you to anywhere you want to go. However loading in the very beginning is terribly slow. I think I waited almost 5 minutes just to get into the main menu. But once inside the game, loading is not that bad.
HOPs are quite easy. Even random clicking works here. Puzzles are of easy types too. If you are a fan of puzzles you might find this game's puzzles way too easy.
Bonus content is quite diverse, pretty good. Muir's room decoration is probably my favorite. While on the game we have to collect gold and silver coins to purchase items to decorate Muir's house. Although it has no effect on the game it is still a good distraction for a rather serious game.
I think this game should not be classified as a HO game, as I think it is more like adventure, and what an adventure it was! I like it that every scene has a suspense on its own, everything is done simply and without any drag, beautifully drawn graphic and super cute kitten.. it all look so natural.
There are 3 levels of difficulties. HO is not many here, and it doesn't matter. The game flows effortlessly and we look like being drawn into the adventure itself.
A diverse range of bonus content although not all available for demo version. I think among all Artifex Mundi games, this one is the best.
The second game in the Riddles of Fate series by Elephant Games ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm.. where do I even begin.. I love Elephant Games, their games are fantastic, but they are suffering from same old, same old story that didn't develop, always about witches, royal, ghosts.. what else is new? I was turned off by the intro, as the speech doesn't fit the movie. It just cut abruptly. I checked the Bonus Content, still same old stuff. Don't tell me they charge us 14 USD for something that I won't even use, wallpaper? screensaver? even for the game that I really like the most I won't use their wallpaper. Get real.
HOPs are the usual finding objects in the list, again, many new dev. are trying to give variety to HOPs and EG is still doing the same thing over and over again in their games. I, for one, like the finding object in list thing, but I didn't expect a game dev. as big as EG will not be innovative. Give us something new rather than the usual stuff. Every good game dev. need to change once in a while. The VO.. sorry to say, it's not interesting at all. It doesn't fit the characters, old man, a queen, did they even say like that? The queen doesn't sound regal at all, the old man sounds like he's in his 30s.
Tasks after tasks after tasks, in one small pop up window there're 3 tasks waiting. Going back and forth is common. I was on my demo by was so bored by it that I even did something else, even washing dishes and hope when I got back I would feel excited but nope, nada. I even had the urge to quickly uninstall the game, which I did. I even barely past Chapter 1.
Elephant Games, sorry, but you disappoint me big time. I am your big fan, and always love your wonderfully sketch graphics, they;re the most beautiful I have ever seen in any game, but please, be innovative and creative next time.
Usually Eipix made adventure games but this time it's a little bit romantic and fortunately fit for beginner gamers. The story and plot is very easy to understand and with although not the most original story, it's still engaging.
There are 4 levels of difficulties. Crisp and clear graphics and nice VO. I can't make sure whether the game is set in Italy or in France but it's definitely in Europe, which I like. HOPs are of the very easy variety, simply find items from the list. Mini games are also very easy and the ideas have been used before.
Bonus contents are pretty diverse, too bad some are locked until you finished the main game. There is map but it's not so useful because it's very easy to follow, and almost all inventory item will be used immediately so there;s no hard thinking needed.
The third game in the Redemption Cemetery series by ERS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usually this game starts at a creepy cemetery but this time it starts in a warm cozy room on a Christmas day. It was a nice change for a dark game. Throughout the game although it is supposed to be a dark game, it feels like Christmas.
There are 4 levels of difficulties. Nice VO and cinematics. Map is however, very confusing. The markers are just not the usual 'X' or 'O'. HOGs are the usual finding objects in the list, but I like that style better. Puzzles are quite innovative. Background music is all the same throughout the series so nothing is new. I like that there's even Angry Birds in this game! I think they're very cute.
Extra content is quite diverse with replayable HOGs and puzzles. Collectibles are decorating your house.
Among all other Redemption Cemetery game, I think this one is my favorite.
The second game in the European Mystery series by Blam Games --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their first game was so great that when this one came out I was pretty excited, but still I have to try the demo first. This time the game is set in Rome.
There are 4 levels of difficulties. Bonus content is pretty much the usual stuff except the Mask Room. The graphic is crisp, nice VO. Map is pretty useful.
HOGs are diverse, puzzles are moderate. There's problem with the achievements, as I skipped and used hint button sometimes but still I receive achievements for solving puzzles without hint or something. There's something definitely not right here with the achievement, and I think I can easily collect all of them. The only problem I had with this game is the very slow loading especially when there's cutscenes. It takes around 5-10 seconds each. The game dev. is quite stingy in giving the demo, only 1 chapter is available for demo and the SG doesn't show anything but Chapter 1.
I think I will buy this game, pretty nice, shows Rome and its famous landmarks, quite engaging story.
A game by Deep Shadows --------------------------------------
OK, this game is rather.. how do I put it? convenient. Bride and groom having a wedding on top of a cliff, with noone there but them, and with an arch, that's funny. And when there's storm came, the bride is missing and the groom went to a train station, a clue which seemingly, very conveniently available to him. Save time.
The story also is strange, like the spirit of death catching people and transfer them.. by train? it doesn't make much sense. And although the game is set in several cities in Europe, and the graphic is also quite superb, there's no much feel there as you only go around 5 scenes in that city. The ghosts look silly rather than scary. No rush feeling, no excitement at all while playing this game.
HO is usual finding objects in the list, and puzzles are rather easy. There is no collectibles. One thing I am thankful for in this game is the map.
Bonus content is so.. dry, again. These days I dont know why but the dev. seem to charge double the price for something that are not even worthy, I mean concept art, music and wallpaper? that's it?
The third game in the Mystery of the Ancients series by Maria Glorum -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I own the two previous games and can say they're pretty nice. This one also seems interesting so and I decided to give it a try.
There are 3 levels of difficulties. Graphic and movies are nice and crisp. The story is linear but something funny though, how come our suitcase key is in the ticketing counter? and how a phone is ringing if the phone line is obviously cut? how is that possible? there are some stuff in this game that is beyond my comprehension, but maybe because it's just a game.
HO is diverse, mostly combining objects. Puzzles are in terms of mini games within the HOG itself or separate. They are not the newest or most creative idea of puzzle, but not bad.
The bonus contents are so few. Except bonus chapter, there's only music, wallpaper and concept art. For a CE, this bonus is extremely lacking in creative department.
Overall I will just buy the SE, the game is pretty nice but I don't think it's CE worthy.
