First the positives: good story, albeit a little confusing. Lots of good puzzles which you can play as many times as you wish. For me, the negatives outweighed the positives on this one, and I probably would not have purchased the game had I any idea how difficult it would be for me. Way too much clicking and loading between some of the scenes, until you reach a point in the game where you can use the map. If not for the walkthrough, I would have given up. I never did complete the last puzzle, but became frustrated and quit.
So much fun! It's almost too cute and may fool you into thinking it's just for children, but not so. The music reminds me of "Charm Tale" and is very pleasant. The gnomes are so darned indefatigable, you really want to help them. It's fun making the potions and then using them throughout the game.
Pulling my hair out here. Let me say first that I absoluely loved Golden Trails (1). The second one was okay, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. I was very excited and encouraged when I began to play this third one; however, I am completely stuck and can only think it's a glitch that I am unable to use my inventory in three different locations in order to proceed in the game. If there are glitches that haven't been worked out, then I will wait to purchase. Thoroughly enjoyed what I have played so far, though. If it's just my own problem, then maybe some forums will be able to help.
I really enjoyed this game. It was quite simple, but I enjoyed the HOS's, the puzzles, and the storyline. The characters were cute, and I liked the way they interacted in the completion of the story, even though I felt they could have been used more.
Older game, with mushy graphics and slow loading, but very good puzzles, and a lot of them. Pretty challenging, and kept me interested. Long game play, as well. Not pretty, but worth the purchase.
Lots and lots of game play! Plenty of HOS's and puzzles, not too difficult, but still challenging. The music was slow and strictly background, nothing annoying. Some of the HOS's were very difficult and I used my hint button liberally, but it has a slow recharge. The story was very interesting, and kept me guessing. I wouldn't have bought the CE because you really don't need it, since I only used it once during the whole game.
First of all, I thought I'd like it because of the atmosphere. That thought didn't last long. I absolutely hated maneuvering through the trial, even with the strategy guide. It might be that I am very used to the mechanics of other games I have purchased. This one uses a different pointer (hand) and some slow black-out scene changes and close-ups for games. I didn't mind the voice over or the graphics. If it were a car, I'd compare it to a used Yugo.
I read all the reviews before purchasing this game, and although there were some real negatives, I really liked the trial. So here are my thoughts: some great HOS's and puzzles; way too short a game. The scenes are beautiful, the story isn't very complicated and have some live actors (who speak WAY too slowly), but the puzzles were tough enough that I had to skip a few! Good game, overall.
I love playing this game. The music keeps me going, strangely enough. Reminds me so much of Ravenhurst background music, and it gives me that same feeling of decayed opulence that intrigues me so much. I love the HOS's because they are beautifully painted. The puzzles are fun without being impossible, and I wanted so much to catch that devilish little guy running around throughout the game!
After reading many of the reviews, I'm still very glad I bought this game. I love, love HOS's, and there are plenty of those in this game. I liked the chapters being broken up into different settings, and I had no problem with the flimsy storyline. It was fine by me, since I purchase mainly for the HOS's and puzzles, anyway. The objects to find were definitely very small, but I need a challenge!
