Super fun RPG, different than the Deadly Sin games, but just as quirky. Be sure to play all the side quests and challenges, without them the game is short, but you will also be missing out on some excellent weapons and equipment! The whole game is winnable. Again the developer gives you 3 modes, I played the middle one, and will probably go back and play on hard. An interesting twist is that at points in the game you have to choose how to develop your character, down one path or another, in regards to magic and skills. It's very easy to advance in your quests, but if you get lost there are helpful directional signs and hints posted in the game. Would love to see a Skyborn 2!
This is an excellent RPG, any fan of the genre should play this! There is a nicely developed storyline, plenty to do, plenty of skills, plenty of treasure, plenty of weapons, armor, etc. The game is great length with lots of side quests (highly recommended you seek out all quests). The developer even includes 3 levels of difficulty so beginners don't have to be intimidated. Another nice touch is being able to change how you invest your skill points, in case you want to tweak your characters' skills later in the game. This is a game you can play more than once, because there are so many choices in how you develop your characters. And it is winnable, without being a RPG nerd, unlike some others. I haven't had so much fun in a long time
they always have a map that lets you jump from place to place the game is always a good length as is the bonus game the stories are imaginative and well done you can turn off voices and music they have a hard mode which is mostly free of leading and hints.
This only gets 4 stars however, because:
it wasn't as creepy as it could have been. The villain and sidekick look creepy but aren't developed and don't play much of a role, it could have been any character. Am I really supposed to be scared of a man with bad teeth and a hand puppet? I don't really like "replace the object in the scene" HOS. Many times it is just finding a like object and placing it next to it. borrrrrinnnng. these devs take the same minigames and use them over and over in different games.
The plot line of Romeo and Juliet flowed nicely, but including Hamlet and Dorian Gray got a little weird for me.
It is much better than most HOPA CES out there, so I will recommend it.
This is a good HOPA, almost long enough to be a CE. It also has a very good map for jumping from place to place. I played on the hardest mode. The HOS scenes are pretty easy, the minigames easier versions of those you've seen before. You can't turn off voiceovers, but thankfully they are scarce. The biggest downside is the "mini cut scenes" e.g. you have a needle and thread and have to repair something, it shows you the repair in very slow and painstaking detail. There also is too much leading: " I need a hammer to break this". There are also some translation errors: a "flower" in an HOS scene is a green potted plant. It still was a fun game to get on a free credit.
I remember the first one being a little more interesting. In this one, the imaginative graphics are much better than the game itself. It's so slow and boring that I had to force myself to finish. The mirror shards are very obviously placed, the FROGs are easy, and there is so much leading both in the FROGs and the story that most of the fun is taken away. At least there was a control to mute the voiceovers. This game might be good for 6-12 yrs olds, but not adults.
This is a very fun game, lots of HOS scenes where you replace the objects into the scene. Lots of minigames too, but nothing new. I just LOVE the animal friendly anti cruelty messages throughout this game! I am also totally a sucker for cute (not cutesy) animals, and this game has plenty, from a baby griffin to the puppy in the bonus game. There is a nice gothic touch to the graphics also, which save the game from being too "fairy tale". I played on hard core, which is actually true to it's name: no hints, no skips, no sparkles! I recommend the CE, you don't need the bonus game to finish the regular game story but it does add to the game. Not sure why taking pictures is considered an added "extra". Like other reviewers have said, if you miss a photo op it's gone forever. It would have been a nice touch if gathering all 30 photos got you an entry into another bonus scene or something. Elephant games consistently puts out above average quality games. They understand not all of us want voiceovers or music, but do want environment sounds. Thanks again Elephant games!
If you liked the first, then you should play this game. You don't need the CE, however, as the bonus game is full of scenes and HOS directly copied from the first and the second regular game. It is also very short. If this is the only difference between the SE and CE, then I feel robbed for buying the CE. The game is heavy on HOS and light on minigames. The time travel aspect keeps it from being just another HOG. However, in addition to a bad bonus game ( the first game had a good one), there are several things that make this not as good as the first. Again you can't turn off the annoying voiceovers, which is always a minus for me because then I have to play on mute. Even on expert mode, you are prompted to scenes where there is something to do. You can't avoid it, because you have to use the time machine to travel. My recommendation is to buy the SE if you liked the first.
This is a really good HOPA. Although the plot is not original, there is the added element of time travel to make it more interesting. There is so much to do, and I really enjoyed that on expert mode I had to figure out where to go, there were no hints. There are many HOS and less minigames. The strategy guide is good and keeps your place. The CE is well worth the money, the bonus game is an interesting addition to the story.
Minor things they could have fixed:
1.even on expert mode there are sparkles showing HOS. 2.they could have included more minigames 3. It would have been nice to be able to turn off voices, I had to play on mute because the annoying main character's voice even read most of the black box comments.
Good things: varied and interesting HOS, some challenging. decent length worth the CE price main game and bonus game follow the storyline collectibles are well hidden well written and useful strategy guide.
Bad things: no way to turn off the annoying voiceovers- they are terribly overacted not very creepy, rather bland. things you can "buy" with collectibles are just items to look at, can't be used in the game. minigames are few and very easy sparkles even on hard mode your diary is sparse and not very interesting or useful
When your daughter, Emily, is taken over by a mysterious force, you must travel to the Nightmare Realm to search for a cure. But nothing could have prepared you for what you find there…
I really loved the first NIghtmare Realm, and had high expectations for this one. It's a unique story, but I hoped for more in this sequel (I'm being vague so not to ruin the game for others). Let's just say I was disappointed in the plot development. This game would have been spectacular with some more development, and many less gaps in the plot, like my daughter going to college but she looks about 13. The HOS are good but few, and there could have been more minigames too. The bonus game has clever touches but again I was disappointed in the plot. Voiceovers are annoying but can be turned off. The game is a decent length. I never listen to the music so can't comment on it. This game isn't truly creepy, but definitely not for kids. This game just isn't as good as the first. I hope there is a third that echoes the first and ties the whole thing together.
