You get all this and more just during the hour-long demo of Order of the Rose.
Storyline: Shadows on the wall of a terrible struggle. Blood splattered on the t.v. A news report of a murder - a notable....who? You are a homicide detective called in to investigate what will ultimately be not just a murder for murder's sake, but the beginning of a series of murders that follow a mystery into a famous artifact. Are you up to the job? Can you solve these murders? What or Who is the Order of the Rose? They leave their calling card behind every scene - a red rose in the clutches of the poor victim.
Graphics: Very old. Looks like a game that was hand-drawn. Not up to the quality of today's games. But, that could be done on purpose as the seedy motel room looks exactly like that - a dark, dreary, seedy motel room.
Sound: The background was really unnoticeable to me - so, obviously, not annoying. There are sound effects. No voiceovers.
Game Play: Wend your way through each murder scene, collecting clues, finding answers in hidden places. Covering not just the room but the other rooms as well. The corridor, outside and in the back alleys. Clues to this case can be found anywhere and everywhere.
There are 2 modes of difficulty - casual and expert. You get a journal that has notes and clues - read it often. The hint button is really very helpful, although you may get frustrated with "there is nothing more to do here". There is no map (although one would be handy as there is a LOT of going back and forth, especially to the same areas multiple times). You are on your own.
This Glam-ma LOVED that you were really on your own solving these cases. You really had to have your wits about you. Reminded me of my favorite game of all time (sorry, can't say what it is - but there is a clue if you can find it - lol).
If you murder, mystery, mayhem and having to use your brain instead of being handheld through a game, you will enjoy Order of the Rose. I encourage everyone to try the demo - it's free and only an hour of your time. This is going on Glam-ma's wish list.
All pieced together begin a story of mystery, suspense and travel.
Storyline: You are Detective Perry. Your friend Junior Constable Sean Boston has called upon you to help investigate the disappearance of the famous Magician Andy Fox and his lovely assistant, Angela. Andy Fox apparently built a machine of some sort. No one knew the secret behind the machine, except that people believed even Tesla had a hand in helping build it. During a dress rehearsal of his magic show, Andy Fox and Angela stepped into the machine and disappeared. Leaving behind a note for Detective Perry that Angela would now love him/Fox whether she liked it or not. Detective Perry has long carried a torch for the lovely Angela but has never told her of his feelings. Now, he is headed back to his hometown to not only find the missing Andy Fox and Angela, but to profess his love to her as well. A mystery with a love story. Who could resist?
Graphics: Very well done. Colors and scenery apropos to the environment. Characters in HD, the movement was a little stilted but not enough to disturb the game play. Even the flesh tones of the various characters were spot on. Amazing. As was all the scenery in the various places you get transported to.
Sound: The background music seemed to want to be a haunting melody but missed the mark. It finally became so irritating I turned it off. Sound effects were good. Voices were clear. Loved the lip syncing and movement of the characters.
Game Play: Find the machine that Andy Fox built and figure out how to use it. You not only want to find him but the lovely Angela (Fox's assistant) as well. Mirrors show parts of past deeds that hold clues. You are transported through a portal in a secret basement to several locations, where you find clues. However, remember this is a game about Magicians and clues will be found in the strangest of places in a variety of ways.
HOGs: This game is not overrun with HOGs, however, the ones I played were very easy. The items were not difficult to find at all. Sometimes you visited the same HOG twice and the items you previously found were still there.
Mini Games: Very easy. Although there were a few that gave little or no instruction and you had to figure it out yourself.
There are 2 levels of difficulty - casual and expert. You are given a journal which you should read constantly, as it contains not only notes that will help you along the way, but important clues as well. It really acts as good as a strategy guide. There is no map (transportable or otherwise) and one would have been very handy as there is a LOT of back and forthing. You can choose to take the tutorial lesson or not.
When I started playing this game, I was really not interested at all. It was cheesy. The games were easy. The HOGs not difficult at all. The mini games not really much of a challenge. Why, then, when the demo was over, did I feel I had to purchase this game? The mystery of the story? The intrigue? The embedded love triangle? Who knows? I just knew when the demo ended my reaction was "What? No! Not yet!". THAT is my "wow" factor. And that wow factor decides if I purchase a game or not.
For all its cheesy love triangle, circusy atmosphere, this game had me hooked by the end of the demo. Therefore, I encourage everyone to please try the game. the demo is free and only takes an hour of your time - which will actually speed by. This Glam-ma says - go for it.
This could have been an excellent if not for the pictures.
Graphics: The background scenery in the pictures tended to be very dark. I mean very, very dark, which made it impossible to find some of the differences.
Sound: The background music was ok. Sound effects ok except for when you spotted a "difference". Then, the monkey sound was so annoying I had to turn it off.
Game Play: Easy enough - find 5 differences between the 2 pictures. You pick 1 of 3 monkeys. That particular monkey you picked will generally be in each of the pictures for that group. It is timed play and each time you click on a wrong item, your time increases. It appears you only get 1 hint per monkey group.
There are a LOT of reasons I disliked this game. However, I do encourage everyone to try it before you buy it. The demo is only 1 hour (I only lasted 20 minutes) and it's free.
Graphics: Okay. Colors recognizable. Scenery bright and fairy looking.
Sound: Background music was nice - didn't need to turn off, just tune it down a bit. Sound effects predictable.
Game Play: Free the fairies by shooting a colored ball at a group of like colored balls to make them disappear. Also, shoot the coins for extra points. Bonuses appear throughout the game.
Could have been a nice game if not for the fact that most of it was useless, inane conversation among too many characters who have really nothing to do with the story. Language starts out as proper English than has displays of "kid" talk. Seriously, no consistency.
Although I will not be purchasing this game. I encourage everyone to at least give the demo a try. It's free and only an hour (although I had enough after level 2).
Yep, that's where you'll be playing Bricks of Atlantis....under the sea.
Graphics: Amazing! Truly Amazing! The colors were stunning. The jellyfish in jewel-tone colors. The clownfish. Everything was just so stunningly beautiful it was hard for me, at times, to concentrate on the game and not the undersea world playing out before me.
Sound: I tuned the volume down (7 week old rescued baby puppy on my arm) but I'm sure the background music was remarkable. Based on the graphics and the sound effects - it has to be.
Game Play: As in any brick breaking game, your goal is to clear the game board of all bricks before losing all your lives and level up. As you level up, the game becomes harder. You will get bonuses by breaking bricks (or in this case coral, starfish, etc.). Good bonuses are green. Bad bonuses are red and the skull and crossbones is deadly.
There are 12 (I think) "level packs" each containing 8 levels to pass. 6 "level packs" are unlocked but you must pass those "level packs" in order to unlock the corresponding locked "level pack". There is also a Bonus Level Pack that won't unlock until all 12 "level packs" are passed.
I had a difficult time because I LOVED the background and scenery and little fishies and starfish and so on and was easily distracted - lol. However, as beautiful as the jellyfish are - they are hateful. Bad, bad jellyfish - lol.
I thoroughly love this game and am putting it on my list of games to get on the next bonus punch Monday. The scenery alone has me hooked. I encourage everyone to try this game. I am sure you will enjoy it at least a little. It's free and only an hour of your time.
So, I've been away from the brick breaking game for a while and have only recently been trying my hand at this game genre. Well, this game THRILLED me. Completely and thoroughly THRILLED me. Frustrated me, yes, but thrilled me nonetheless. When I find myself screaming and laughing at my computer screen - this game is obviously a keeper for me. LOL
Graphics: BE CAREFUL! The background may throw you off in some levels. The background may seem more like the game board that you are supposed to breaking bricks on, but it probably isn't.
Sound: No background music but the sound effects - bombs going off, etc. loved, loved, loved.
Game Play: As in any brick breaking game, your goal is to remove all the bricks from the game board in order to level up. The higher the levels, the harder the game play. You get bonuses by breaking various and sundry bricks - no, those bricks don't look any different than the "normal" ones. However, anything green that comes down is GOOD. Anything red that comes down is BAD. Any definitely stay away from the pirate cross and skull bones. There's also a level that rains down hearts. Fool that I am, I thought I was earning extra lives - NOT. Maybe they were just shooting off love into the universe. I still hadn't figured out their purpose. You will get to know which bonuses work best for you. Also, beware the eyes - they are meant to help you but, believe me, they can also be quite a hindrance.
There are 8 (I believe) level "packs" that have 8 levels in each "pack". You have to pass each "pack" to unlock the next one. There are 3 levels of difficulty - easy, medium and hard within each "pack". I played on easy as it's been a while playing this type of game and I got slaughtered.
It's quite a fast-paced game but I had the best of fun screaming and yelling and laughing at my computer. This is definitely on my wish list.
Sound: The bricks breaking sounded exactly like that - and they never stopped breaking - lol. Background music was very soothing.
Game Play: What a novel brick breaking game! This is not the usual brick breaking game you are used to. In order to break the bricks you have to match 3 or more like items in a group (like a match 3 game using the group concept rather than the swap concept). I've never seen this before. Bonuses too many to name. But this is an amazing match 3 game embedded into a brick breaking game.
I actually got bored at the beginning of game play but then really got interested as the levels got harder and the bonuses better.
This Glam-ma is definitely interested in this game and is putting it on my double punch Monday wish list. I encourage everyone to give this game a whirl. I think once you get into it you may really enjoy it.
Stopped playing a game before the demo ends to rush over and submit my review - lol - guess I'm hooked!
Graphics: Nothing bright and shiny, colors muted. I like that because it doesn't detract from the game play.
Sound: Ok sound effects. Background music very tribal with the drums going. Very authentic.
Game Play: And this is where I became frustrated and then ............... fell in love - lol. This plays as with any brick breaking game. There is a paddle at the bottom of the screen. Your goal is to break all the bricks and level up. By breaking bricks you can get bonuses and power ups (or downs). What I loved about this game (but initially frustrated me) was that there are no instructions. Every game, whether brick breaking or not, has it's own little nuances. Here, you just figure them out as you go. What do you know? You have 6 lives, you need to pass 10 levels before you can unlock another play area.
If I recall, there were 12 levels to unlock, 2 are already unlocked for you game play pleasure. There are 10 levels in each game area. So, roughly 120 levels. There are 3 difficulty modes per area - ranging from easy to hard.
I so thoroughly became entranced in this game I had to stop playing to do my review. This may definitely be a keeper for me. I encourage everyone to try this game, even if you are not a brick breaking aficionado. It's free and it's only an hour.
Happy Gaming To All!
I recommend this game!

The Missing: A Search and Rescue Mystery Collector's Edition
A group of college students have gone missing from a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. You are called in to rescue them, but nothing is as it seems.

Four Students, One Professor and a Deserted Island.
Storyline: Four students and a meteorologist Professor are the only ones signed on to be on these islands. However, only ONE SOS was received. It's your job to find these students. So, off you go.
Graphics: Not great. Very dark and dreary. Not necessary for the storyline. It's an island - show some green in the greenery, etc. It was very monochromatic.
Sound: Background music was fine. No VOs.
Game Play: You start out on Toto Island and, after some investigating, discover this definitely isn't a safe place to be so off you go in your tiny plane to another island - except a storm ensues, lightning strikes your plane - you escape and swim from under the cold, churning water to Fog Island. When you "come to" you immediately see one of the student's backpacks. It's time to start investigating on this island.
CE Bling: Strategy Guide (which I relied on heavily) Bonus Level (Bonus Game ?) - locked until game is finished. Bonus Content - locked until the Bonus Game is finished. Collect 56 crystals.
There is a tutorial you can choose to use or not. A journal that contains a task list, notes (very helpful so make sure you read it frequently) and a map (useless, not transportable which would have be helpful) and a hint button - the only redeeming factor which is that it recharges very quickly in the HOGs, Otherwise, it is absolutely useless. It will show you an area to go to next, not transport you there, but NOT tell you HOW to get there. And there are generally several different directions you can go. So, if you don't rely on the SG for assistance, you will be doing a LOT more back and forthing than is necessary.
HOGs: Surprisingly, I didn't come across that many but the ones I did were quite easy to find the items in. Not very interactive. Items not small or difficult to find. Hint button very helpful and recharged quickly.
Mini Games: The ones I came across were relatively easy.
I felt the storyline was weak. No direction was given at all unless you used the Strategy Guide quite heavily. There was basically nothing much to do in any specific area. No areas to look at, inventory items to pick up, puzzles to play - very boring game play. For these reasons, I am choosing not to purchase this game myself. However, I always encourage you to at least try the demo - it's free and only takes a very.....long.....boring .... hour of your time.
No storyline. When I play a Quest - I like there to be a storyline of some kind.
Graphics: Ok. You have numbers and above (J, Q, K, A) in the four suits of cards on cream colored tiles - period.
Sound: No sound effects. Background music enough to put me to sleep.
Game Play: Basically, this is a game of solitaire using tiles instead of card backs. Because, really, you are playing with one or more (actually, quite a few more) decks of cards. Place one number higher or lower than that at the bottom of the screen and try to increase the number of continuous moves you have. I had 107 at my best. YAY ME!
That's the whole game. I expected more. I mean, just the name, TriJong, elicits thoughts of ANYTHING other than what it was. Definitely a no-brainer for me that I am not purchasing this game. And, this is so rare for me, but I do not recommend anyone wasting an hour of their time playing this dud of a solitaire game.
