Storyline: You are a tarot card reader. You will danger lurking. It's late at night and someone comes knocking at your door. You mention the late hour but you will still read the creepy guy's cards. She turns the card over and tells him that he is in danger. He laughs, evilly, and tells her that no, she is the one in danger. Next, she wakes in a jail cell. Now, she has to use her wits, the clues her tarot cards provide and find her way not only out of the cell, but to find all her missing cards and this turns into one misadventure after another.
Graphics: Not great. Everything is much too dark and dreary. I realize the game is based on the premise of dark and dreary but this goes way beyond what is necessary.
Sound: There are really no sound effects other than a noise that's made when you find an item. The background music is haunting and on a loop.
Game Play: You go from room to room and place to place playing HOGs everywhere you go, collecting inventory items that you have to figure out not only how to use but where to use it/them. Once you've accomplished that you can move on to the next location.
HOGs: This is an HOG heavy game. Every room/place you go there is an HOG. Some items you may find there, others you have to find in another place entirely (meaning you will get an inventory item to use, like a hammer to smash the barrels) but there is no given direction.
The storyline is good. Find all the missing tarot cards. There is a map that shows places unlocked but it is not transportable. Actually, it's pretty useless. You have a journal that is also fairly useless and the objectives are moot. Basiclly, you are on your own. The hint button recharges remarkably fast and you will need it in the HOGs because everything is too monochromatic in color and tiny to find.
This was a mysterious and intriguing game. But the difficulty in finding HOG items because they were so small and the uselessness of the map leans me to not purchasing this game. However, I encourage everyone to at least try it. It's free and it's an hour of game time. You may enjoy it more than I.
Storyline: Your name is Robin, you were at sea in a frigate......the ocean is churning......the storm is horrendous.....the ship wrecks but.....you see...................LAND!! So, you grab something that floats and head to the island. And, now, you plan. You want to rebuild your ship, build a place for shelter and you do all this with the help of the islanders you meet on your little island adventure.
Graphics: Amazing. The colors were bright. The scenery beautiful. Yes, it was a bit cartoony but THAT'S what makes it such a cute game. I think THAT'S why it just grabbed me. Even with all its many faults.
Sound: The background music was all island getaway with birds chirping and whatever lives on the island making all their little whirrs and cheeps and so on. Loved it.
Game Play: And herein lies the many faults of the game. You start off playing the typical match 3 type game. Then, you are playing "groups" of 3 (by the way, the items you match move - really move a lot - lol). Then, there are bricks to break or items that are tied up and you have to match up and, oh yes, there are levels where you have to direct Robin from point A to point B (an exit). But don't stop there - because there are puzzles to figure out (easy) and hidden object games to play (not so easy) and conversations with the islanders and mini games and on and on and on and on.
This game has EVERYTHING - except instructions. You are totally on your own.
At first, I thought this would be a real deal breaker for me. I never knew which game I was playing - match 3, groups of 3, get Robin to the exit or any of the other games embedded in this game. But, to my surprise, when the demo was up, I was like "NO!". That was my "wow" factor. Gotta get the game - lol.
I encourage everyone to play the free demo of this game. It's only a short little hour long and FREE. I think you will get hooked by the end of the demo just as I was.
Storyline: You are Luna, and you have been summoned to the Magic University. You are to meet the Head Wizard in the Mage's Room where he recounts a story to you of himself as a younger wizard and his friend, Ludovic. Apparently, they were trying to make a potion when Ludovic purposely added another ingredient. The Head Wizard was so angry he threw the beaker out the window and when it hit the cobbled stones in the street, they turned into magic gems. The University is now running out of magic gems (although what they are used for is beyond me) and Ludovic, who is now a Great and Famous Wizard, needs to be found and somehow to get the "magic" ingredient from him.
Graphics: Stunning. Bright, colorful jewels. However, the characters themselves come across as very dull and muted color-wise.
Sound: Background music was very nice and relaxing.
Game Play: As in any match 3 game your goal is to make matches of 3 or more of the same colored jewels. While making these matches you want to uncover all the gold tiles on the game board. Also, the game board moves around to other "rooms" where the game play continues. While all this going on, conversations between you and the Head Wizard continue, new characters come on board that do wondrous things for you during your game play and all in all it becomes verbose and confusing. Add to that the jewels are inexorably huge and wiggle and jiggle - it made me dizzy. Seriously.
If not for the dizzying game board, the humongous jewels and the weak storyline which just went on and on and on in conversation, especially with new characters chiming in, this could have been a wonderful match 3 game. I did notice some reviewers gave it high scores. However, I have also noticed that these same reviewers give ALL games a high score just to get their review noticed in the top few. Mine won't be noticed by many because I chose to give an honest review of the game and not some dandified imitation of what a good game it should have been - just to get noticed. I hope this review was helpful.
I always recommend that you play this game. The demo is free and it's only an hour of your time. You many be one of the ones who love it. In that case, give a review of your own - lol.
Happy Gaming to All!
I recommend this game!

Yeah - It Could Have Been Better ......................
Graphics: Bright, colorful jewels. Can't complain about that.
Sound: Music was too techno-driven for my taste. The sound effects of the matching gems sounded like glass breaking and got on my every last nerve so I turned the volume down.
Game Play: Boring. Same old, same old match 3 game. Match 3 or more colored jewels until the bar at the bottom of the screen is full. The the level is up. You do get bonuses for matching 4 and 5 jewels but the 5 is extremely rare and the bonuses are nothing earth-shattering. just another boring match 3 game.
I prefer my match 3 games to have an interesting storyline. For this reason, I will not be purchasing this game. However, I do encourage everyone to give the demo a try. It's only an hour of your time and it's free. Who knows, it could be just the thing you need on a lazy afternoon.
If Rainbow Web was a triple threat, than this version is OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Storyline: The Evil Spider is back again and has shed his web over the Rainbow Kingdom and you, the hero who restored the Rainbow Kingdom last time are on the job of restoring it again.
Graphics: Here's where I took away a star, again. The graphics in the match 3 portion of the game were wonderful. However, where it counted most - when the Rainbow Kingdom was being systematically restored - the colors were drained and dull. Very disappointing. Even items referred to as "noon-day sun" didn't look even remotely sunny to me.
Sound: Background was lilting and soft. Enjoyable.
Game Play: Rainbow Web II is beyond being the triple threat the last version of this game was. It has it all more of everything and then some. This is a match 3 game embedded in a word-type game embedded in a game of intense strategy embedded in a hidden object game embedded in mini-games of puzzle-making. As in any match 3 game, you must match 3 or more ball colors to remove them from the web. However, there are also balls containing letters that MUST be removed from the web by making match 3s (or more). In order to do this, you must make strategical moves that will enable you to remove all those letters to complete the level. One move can impact several different colored balls, as well as balls with letters. You must always be thinking several steps ahead. At the completion of several levels, you have to play a hidden object game in which pieces of an item are all over a room and you must find them all before proceeding. In addition, you will have to restore pictures by swapping tiles. Oh, and as you level up and the game gets harder, it changes on you - the web design changes! AMAZING GAME!
If not for the poor graphics when rebuilding the Rainbow Kingdom, I would have given this game a solid 5 stars. Normally, this would not be a purchase for me, only because I don't particularly like games of strategy. I prefer my M3s to be more relaxing, but this version of Rainbow Web has me hooked.
I do hope you will try the free demo. It's an hour of your time and, who knows, you may find that you are the king/queen of strategic, match 3, letter-word type games that contain puzzles and hidden objects - lol.
Storyline: The Evil Spider has shed his web over the Rainbow Kingdom and you, the hero, are the only one who can help bring the Rainbow Kingdom back to its colorful, happy glory.
Graphics: Here's where I took away a star. The graphics in the match 3 portion of the game were wonderful. However, where it counted most - when the Rainbow Kingdom was being systemically restored - the colors were drained and dull. Very disappointing. Even the Rainbow, once restored, was dull and sad looking.
Sound: Background was lilting and soft. Enjoyable.
Game Play: Rainbow Web is a triple threat - it has it all. This is a match 3 game embedded in a word-type game embedded in a game of intense strategy. As in any match 3 game, you must match 3 or more ball colors to remove them from the web. However, there are also balls containing letters that MUST be removed from the web by making match 3s (or more) before time runs out. In order to do this, you must make strategical moves that will enable you to remove all those letters before time is up. Storyline: The Evil Spider was overthrown in the previous version of this game. However, you have learned that all the residents of another town have disappeared - at the hands of the same evil spider. Can you overthrow him again? Can you rebuild the town and find all the residents?
Graphics: Excellent quality.
Sound: Had it turned off - sorry - teeny tiny 7 week old rescued puppy sleeping on my arm.
Game Play: This game offers the uniqueness of being a match 3 (or more) of colored balls, while at the same time being a "word" type game, in that you have to make matches that will remove the letters off the web that form the sentence shown in the upper left hand corner of the screen. You earn points (fairy dust) with which you repair the town's buildings (i.e., the tailor shop). Once completed, on to the next one!
My only issue is that there appears to be only 1 type of bonus and that is earned as you make matches. A hammer in the upper right hand of the screen becomes charged and can be used to strike out 1 letter. Charge it again to strike another letter. I would think making matches of more than 3 as in other match 3 games, other bonuses would be awarded.
Other than that, this Glam-ma thinks this is a top-notch game of match 3 and letters/words. I hope you will at least try the free demo - it's only an hour of your time.
I played the CE demo and purchased that version but also played the SE demo and was left with 45 minutes to spare. I still think it's going to be an awesome game to play. And I do not give out 5 stars that easily.
Opening Scene: There is a young man running for his life - doors are locked - he finally gets outside but is swallowed by a black fog and dragged back into the house. You later find him in a room being attacked by a plant.
Storyline: You (Sophia) and your sister (Hope) decide to go on a bus tour of haunted houses. The last stop on the trip is the "House on the Hill" (Sound familiar? Yeah, thought so.) Apparently, it was only recently opened by the owner, and you are there on "Opening Night". You are there only a moment when you hear a scream and watch your sister disappear behind a wall while there stands a black shrouded figure. Now you are determined to go through this Haunted House, find her and GET OUT!
Graphics: Can you say...only AMAZING!? The characters are so real, as if you were watching a home movie - THAT real. The way they move, and talk (tonal quality as well as lip syncing and body movement - I LOVE games like this. And it continues through the game play. Thank you devs.) The mansion is stunningly beautiful from the outside. I repeat - from the outside. Colors gorgeous - greens of plants, rust color of sign over the driveway announcing the house's name. Colors of clothes people are wearing - all amazing. . Sound: My puppy is now 7 weeks old (she was rescued at 6 weeks) so I kept the sound to a minimum. The sound effects are amazingly real and spot on. Doors creaking, sounds of ghosts (?) moaning and crying and spirits (?) talking (to each other?). At one point, I remember thinking "wow, creepy". Very good sign - lol. I do love the creepy.
Game play: You trying to find your sister, Hope, whom you've last seen on an outside ledge where a man with a bloody ax is stalking her. You will come across characters who need your help. For instance, a man who was going to buy the house with his wife but was locked inside with no way out and is now being held on to by the tentacles of a plant - rescue him. The tour bus driver, find his heart medication - quickly. So, it would appear that you have "quests" to complete to gain information about how to find your sister. But, then you come across a hallway intentionally in flames and a man accusing "YOU" of never harming anyone again. Is he actually referring to "you" or "you" in general meaning the house? THAT is only one of the mysteries you will come across and attempt to solve.
The HOGs are moderately easy. There is a random click penalty. So far, all I've come across are itemized lists, with some interaction necessary. Nothing dark, nothing tiny. Even the sparkles were beautiful.
Mini Games: The ones I came across were definitely not easy but the instructions were very specific. The "skip" button takes a definite while to charge. I skipped through for the most part to get back into game play. I was hooked on the CE already - lol. There are 3 modes of play: Casual, Expert and Professional. You have a diary which takes a lot of notes but there may be clues in reading. The hint button is in the form of the haunted house you are in. And it recharges faster than I've ever seen one recharge before. You eventually get possession of a map (you have to find it) which is not only transportable but shows you where you currently are and where you need to fulfill an objective. I anticipate a longish game as the map shows a first and second floor as well as a basement. There is a short tutorial.
I so thoroughly enjoyed the CE AND SE versions of this game - I am glad I purchased the CE version when it came out; however, that "WOW" factor I always look for in a game was definitely in the SE demo as well. If the SE had come out first, I'm sure I would have purchased it at that time.
This Glam-ma says please try this game. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did. It's free and you get an amazing 90 minutes of game time.
Happy Father's Day Weekend and Happy Gaming to All!
There are 2 modes of play - Quest or Classic. I like to play Quest so I can get an idea of the storyline. If I have time, then I'll slip over to the Classic side of things and check that out.
Storyline: This is on the Quest mode only - The Colonel has released experimental bugs that eat electricity in the town. The cartoonish characters of Lylek (electrician) and Martina (the insect expert) try to solve the mystery before all the bugs eat the electricity EVERYWHERE!
Graphics: Okay but not great. The colored bugs (while very cute) are easily identifiable. 'Nuf said.
Sound: The music got annoying after a while. No big explosions, etc. for sound effects.
Game Play: You are going to try to get rid of the bugs by throwing a colored bug at them to make a match of 3 or more. There are bonuses you can earn by shooting down various discs, however, they are few and far between and never seem to be able to help you. You are also trying to shoot down bees, butterflies, centipedes, super bugs. To what end, I hadn't quite figured out yet. In Classic Mode -- it played exactly as any shooter game would.
Issues: These are entirely my problems with this game. When you shoot a line of 3 or more bugs, they stop (unless you have a good bonus), and that's great, but most of the time you have no way to attack the bugs at the beginning of the line that's headed for the "tunnel of shame", your game is over because the town has become "infested". Also, when the line of bugs gets close to the "tunnel of shame", there is no BEEP BEEP BEEP or loud anything, no special noise, nothing, to let you know the end of the game is imminent - not that you'd be able to anything anyway.
For the reasons stated above, this Glam-ma will not be purchasing this game. However, I do encourage everyone to try it for the free hour of demo play. It is a very fast-paced game.
Happy Father's Day Weekend and Happy Gaming to all!
The runestone that has protected the town of Neverville for centuries has disappeared. Now, the evil necromancer Grimhall is threatening its people. Can you save them from this grim fate?
Storyline: You are Valerie, daughter of Cygnus Rastlin, and as you are on your way home your carriage is attacked by a Wolf Spirit. When you arrive at Neverville, you are told that Wolf Spirits have arisen everywhere. You must find your father, because ONLY he knows what to do.
Graphics: Rather old school. Definitely not the HD quality we are used to these days.
Sound: The background music wasn't too bad. I certainly didn't need to tune it out or turn it off.
Game Play: Arthur, your father's trusted friend, has betrayed everyone. The Guardians of the Light must find the runestone, which is apparently now in pieces. You know you have to find the those pieces and restore them, so why is your father (who "knows what to do") so important? And where is he? In an hour of game play you never see him. You will meet various characters who will require quests before they will offer any help whatsoever. For instance, the Gypsy who needs you to get the ingredients to make a potion so she can see a little piece of the puzzle.
HOGs: Very easy to find the items. The hint button took an extremely long time to recharge, however, here's a new twist I've never seen before - you can SKIP the HOG and still get your inventory item(s). Wow! I didn't really need to skip the HOG but I did it once just to see what would happen.
Mini Games: Some we are used to and some are actually quite new. MOST of the them are extremely difficult, even on the easiest level of game play.
This Glam-ma is not interested in this game at all. It confused me right from the beginning. Why is the father who "knows what to do" never seen? Yet, apparently your character knows exactly what to do - find the pieces of the runestone and game over. And the Gypsy's foretelling that someone close to your father will betray him - of course, it was Arthur, we found that out fairly early too. I don't think this game has much to offer. It is definitely not a purchase for me.
However, please do give it a try. It's only an hour and it's free.
