I bought the CE version and will say that I LOVE these developers and I simply love this Adventure games. At first the game looks like an HOPA and by now most of you already know that there are absolutely NO HO scenes in this game. Again I repeat: NO HO Scenes whatsoever. Gothic Fiction is strictly interactive adventure with puzzles. I have no idea what acronyms to use but all I can say that this game will appeal to adventure lovers like myself. The stortline is your basic "My daughter has been kidnapped by evil Witch and now I must save her!" theme and our adventure starts off in an abondoned school filled with creepy plants and ghosts of children gone missing. As the tale unfolds, you discover that your enemy is one very powerful witch and there is alot to do before you can save your daughter. The Graphics were sharp, good resoluiton on my computor and I always am a great fan of using Real live actors with voice overs. For fans of spooky games with dark shadows lurking about and creepy sound effects, this game is just great playing in the dark. There are three game modes and I recommend that hard-core players go with advance. Absolutley no hand holding, making for a very good adventure. Game features a journal, a map that alos provides a list of tasks, a hint that refills quickly and also a Witches diary where you need to collect pages in order to find out her story. Once your adventure begins, you look for inventory objects, tools and also need to pick up energy balls along the way. There are 15 of them inside the paintings that you come across. There are alot of mini games to play and some are challenging and some are easy. I found that the Game play runs smoothly and sometimes a bit mechanical but I did enjoy myself neverthless and for those who passed up on the CE version, this is a great SE game which provides you with 9 chapters of entertainment.
I recommend this game!

Dark Parables series have always offered us top quality games with stunning graphics, top-notch game features and exciting gameplay, this current game is no exception. However I regret to say that after having played the demo, I did not paticularily care to spend money on the CE version and my reasons are mostly based on my own personal pet peeves regarding story content AND not being able to access the SG at the begining. I am a great fan of many forms of fiction and game with all types of themes that are laid out. Unfortuately one thing that I find disturbing in any form of entertainment is the killing of animals. Sorry, I am one of those people that cannot stand any form of animal suffering or any form of cruelty towards them, be in a game, a film or a book regardless of the fact that they are wild and viscious wolves. That is not to say that I am against this game, quite the contrary, I highly recommend it and will say that is does rank high in the series; although my favorite is still The Snow Queen. The Red Riding Hood Sisters is visually breathtaking with stunning artwork and beautiful graphics. The storyline is unusual where you as the detective are asked to rescue and help the Order of the Red Riding Hood Sisters defeat the Queen of the Wolves. It is a FROG that also offers adventure and puzzles. Game features include voice-overs, three play modes, a map that is not interactive and a task list. Game mechanics include Fragmented HO scenes that are not interactive and items are well hidden within the scenes. There are mini-games that I really found to be quite easy at first but then I am basing this review on the demo. There are morphing objects to find so that your hints will refill faster and you also need to collect puzzle pieces in order to gain access to the parables. As I am not able to access the SG which I find to be a very unwise practice when introducing a game, I really have no idea on the length and contents of the bonus section. As I said, a high quality game that will please many with the exception of myself. I found gameplay good but I have to admit, it just did not appeal to me nor did it excite me as the previous installments. Nevertheless I do recommend it but for anyone out there that may be advocates against cruelty towards animals, be warned: the opening scene was rather disturbing to watch. I secretly rooted for the wolves. I admit that is a bit over the top but I am always on the side of our four legged friends, even if they are possesed by evil magic and led by a wicked Queen.
I recommend this game!

I love Monopoly and remember fondly hours spent playing the game with my family and friends. After having played this PC version, I come to a realisation, the fun part of Monopoly are arguments and commentaries made by my friends, hours of laughter and quips. I downloaded the game without any problem and recieved the english version. I decided to play the teacher mode where I recieved tutorial just so I can familiarise myself with the gamemechanics. The graphics are sharp, the music intolarable and game features three players. It is your standard US version of Monopoly with all the rules I knew. After a couple of plays, buying land, tradfing options, collecting rent and going to jail three times, I realized one thing, I missed my friends alot. This game just did not work for me, I got bored and frustrated and realised that boardgames need commentary, voice-overs and feedback. None of which you get from this game. One good thing about it, it did want me to call up my old friends and talk about our the old days when we use to get together and play.
I don't recommend this game.

At first sight I thought the game cute, little angles and little devils with funny bonuses and powere-ups. There are three levels to the game and once you complete the story level you then can unlock the mini-games and puzzles. Game mechanics is straight forward M3 Swaps. The most dissapointing feature were the music and the tiles. I had a devil of a time (no pun intended) to distinguish the icons and to see if I had cleared the board. The boards are small as are the icons, the design is busy and there are so many bonuses that the game somwtimes plays itself. Bombs keep appearing, crosses as other ways to clear the board. You have scores after each game and achiemennts to unlock. It all sounds interesting and in theory the game could have been good if not for the graphics, the sounds and a storyline which was vague. I still have no ideal what the entire game was telling me except for some bizaar dialogues between two icons. ANyhow, my recommendation is: do not bother, there are much better M3 games out there and unfortunately, this is not one of them.
I don't recommend this game.

Remember Brigadoon? A town that appeard every thousand years. The Town of the Cyclops appears every 300 years and now Edwina is on a rescue mission to find Tom, her boyfriend. I own all the Margrave series and I love the way these developers have improved with each game; A story that first began as a HOG now ends as a wonderful HOPA. I actually loved the lore of Edwina and all her adventures and although her enthusiasm and cheerful voice can be a bit irritating after a while, her adventures do offer a very good gaming experience. The graphics are sahrp and I do love the art work, reminds me of the old storybooks I woned as a child. Some may find the colors depressing however I find that they make you feel like you are in another world altogether. There are two gameplay options and once you begin, game features includes a SG that is very well done with some factoids about earlier games, a map that when toggled will not only show you where you are but also your progress. You also have two inventories, one for your items that you have collected and the other for your drawings that you will need as clues. HO scenes are not interactive but I find that the items blended into the scenery making some difficult to find. You also need to collect strawberries along the way which unfortunately I have yet to come by in the demo; perhaps my eyesight is not what it use to be. I love the puzzles and you certainly have many of them along the way, all very well designed and some very challenging. The Margrave series has been with us for some time and as I said, though they are not spectacular games, they do offer a fairtale like experience with beautiful graphics and wonderful puzzles. I loved playing the demo and am anxious to see how Edwina will end her adventure.
I recommend this game!

I initially passed up on the CE version of this game mainly because in my opinion it lacked features that would merit a CE price. However as a Standard Edition Game, Witch Hunter is an ideal adventure light HO game that will please most everyone. The story begins with a curse and a young girl who must now seek out the evil witch who has stolen her beauty. The graphics are very good as is the artwork. There are no V/O and the music does not irritate you. There is a slight lag between dialogues but you can skip. HO scenes are slightly interactive and objects very easy to find. Game features do not include a map or a journal which was disappointing. Gameplay is relatively easy, alot of backtracking and much to do. You have collectables which are keys as well as special abilities that you need to acquire. Overall it is an entertaining story although gameplay did lack a certain degree of challenge. An ideal game for beginners however I do think that hard-core gamers will find this game a bit mundane.
I recommend this game!

I recently got addicted to Solitaire card games with Fairview and I have to say that this game is just as brilliant and some. The graphics are stunning as are the voice overs. You have 2 modes of gameplay: relaxed or timed. The storyline is enchantic and it emmerses you into an adventure where you must save defend your Kindom from an evil Sorcerer. You begin your adventure as an apprentice and first go through a tutorial. Game features include a fast pace Solitair game with high or low cards, many bonuses and wild cards, coins to collect so that you can puchase extra bonuses and power-ups from the store and for extra fun, you hace HO scenes where you need to collect items. The best thing is that you can replay each game as you go along in order to get higher scores. At times the dialogues can ramble but you do have the option to skip. This game is beautifully designed and easy to learn. There is also a guide on the upper left corner to give you tips. I highly recommend this game for fanatics as well as for those who have never played Solitaire. A great way to learn and pass the time on nights when sleep does not come so easily. Be warned, it is highly addictive. Kudos to the developers.
I recommend this game!

I simply love this series and was so excited to see this next installment out; but when I found myself begin my adventure with a car accident, my initial excitement began to wane. At first glance, it carries all the game features that you expect in a CE Game. However as I began to play, I noticed that everything was all a bit too familiar. As always you have good graphics, although there was a slight graininess in some scenes, good artwork and there are voice-overs. The music was too familiar and seemed to be on a loop. There are three game modes, widescreen options. You have a SG that keeps your place, collectables where you need to find hidden records and achievements. Extras include mini-games and according to the SG, there are 7 chapters plus a bonus chapter. Game features include a journal but no map. It is a HOPA with interactive HO scenes that come in three modes; Finding items on the list, Finding objects according to the silhouettes, and reverse HO scenes where you place the items back to their proper place. There are puzzles to solve, items to pick up and use and mini-games to play as well. You also have a crystl ball that gives you special powers that you will be collecting along the way. So why not give this game 5 stars? Something was amiss and it started with the car crash at the opening scene. There was a feeling that this game was a rush job. Same game features as the others but just different setting. This time I found the storyline weak compared to the previous games. To be honest, I also found gameplay a bit tedious. However as I do own the series, I will include this one as well. It is a Good game but not a great one; same features just different scenery.
I recommend this game!

At last, a large file Adventure game which is the latest installment in the Sherlock Holmes series that has our favorite detective match wits against one of history's most infamous serial killers, Jack the Ripper. I have been a fan of Sherlock Holmes adventure games and although I have only played the demo, I am thrilled at the prospect of continuing with this adventure. The story begins with the brutal murder of a working girl that prompts Holmes and Watson to take it upon themselves to help the police catch the culprit. Little do they know that one murder will lead them to many more, all executed by the notorious Jack the Ripper. Be warned, this game holds some very grusome graphical details that may be disturbing to some. Also note, if you have recently quit smoking, the opening scene where you are Sherlock might just entice you to light one up. The graphics are brilliant as was the artwork: Stunning 3D images of the streets of London in 1888. Voice overs are very well done and the story grabs you from the begining. Adventure games are not for everyone and it does take taime to get use to the mechanics. Hard-core adventures will love the options that are presented here. You have the choice of playing either Holmes or Watson and also the choice of playing third-person or first-person which you can toggle between them. You have an integrated map where you can jump from one place to another and ofcourse there is the notebook, inventory list, and dialogues. As Shelock Holmes, you really need to channel his skills for deductive reasoning and investigate crime scenes, clues and suspects. This is the challenging part of the game. Patience is required as is using your grey cells to decipher your clues and solve the case. There are items to pick up and use as well as puzzles to solve. As I said earlier, this game is not for the faint-hearted. I have to admit, the developers went slightly over the top with this one; especially in the opening scene where I suddenly find myself playing Jack the Ripper doing the unspeakable to my first victim. Sometimes I worry about myself; especially as I find these game to be entertaining.
I recommend this game!

A very pleasant surprise that we have here, an adventure HOG that will require use of the grey cells which I for one am looking forward to. Our story begins with Sarah Green, a novice detective who is on her first case; solve the mystery behind the dissapearance of a Dr Magnus. This new adventure will require Sarah to investigate his home and reveal the secrets hidden there that will ultimately change her life. The main menu offers only two gameplay mode and that really is it. Once you begin your adventure, you come equiped with a notebook that will outline details of your search. There are no voice overs but you do have the odd sound effects and music; besides since you are alone, there is really no one to talk to. On the up-side, you have a list of ahcievments to acquire as well as finding 25 Horus Eyes that are hidden throughout the game. Game play is mostly adventure with HO scenes that sadly are not interactive but items did prove tricky to find. There are few minigames to solve but as I only have played the demo, I came across only one lock and for some strange reason, I need to find a manual before I can attempt to open it. Yes, the game looks out-dated, but the graphics are crisp and I really did like the art-work. There really seems more to this than meets the eyes. The challenge is in the adventure part of the game, there is no hand holding and I really do love going around and figuring out what to do next. As I moved along, I also found the story both tragic and suspicious and want to find out the secret of Dr. Magnus' dissapearance. I think this game does warrent a credit or club award. For lovers of adventure games, I think this game really has some attributes and I for one did very much enjoy my first hour of gameplay.
