Aside from being brighter and more colorful than most this is a very standard HOPA. Seems as though we've played it before if we've played any of the previous ones in the series. I found the mini games ridiculously easy and the whole game had very little challenge. It did have the addition of an invisibility potion but that really did not add much. Too bad because that's a twist that the developers could do a lot with it seems. But other than you could get by the guards at the castle it did not add a lot of drama. The story was overly familiar and the ending yawn worthy. There's a witch that wants to take over the Kingdom. Her accomplice is apparently the palace hunter?? I did have a few odd moments.. I was figuring out a maze and the next minute I was in a room with the two villans. Not sure how that happened. Nothing new here but it's a bright, colorful rather standard game that's very similar to the ones that came before it. Glad I didn't buy the CE this time.
I don't recommend this game.

Wow loved the atmosphere in this one. Bright, colorful and beautifully drawn. Very refreshing after sooo many run down drab games. Great and fun storyline.. the sillouette that kills townfolk and the artist who's paintings predict it. I must say the ending was quite predictable but somehow that didn't take away from the fun. Interactive HO scenes where you must find an item and then use it to locate another. The game was a little hand holdy telling you exactly what each inventory object was so you didnt have to figure it out for yourself but this game was very entertaining none the less. Decent length with some achievements that open both the HO scenes and the mini games for play after completion. This one was really bright and enjoyable and I would buy the sequel in a flash.
I recommend this game!

First.. this game was a lot of game for a SE price. it was long and had the look and feel of the old ERS games. A lot of the locations were beautiful. I did feel the story was rather predictable.. a young girl bitten and then taken by what seem to be vampires who use flowers?? Okay. But it had a ton of HO scenes, a story that flowed and mega inventory objects.. some of which took some time to figure out (the bats on the trunk for instance). The HO scenes were bright and colorful and I enjoyed figuring out what to do next. This was a solid but somewhat standard HOPA game from a developer I had not heard of before. This was a good start for them. Straight forward, well drawn, fun game. Some usual mini games. My only complaint would be that there was a lot of back and forth. Leave one location, get one object, return then leave to get another and return. Overall nothing exceptional but a good way to spend a few hours.
I recommend this game!

Wow what a great game and with a SE price tag. Long, beautifully drawn, good story and a decent ending. The game started out a little iffy for me as it seemed to have some misques. (The father picks a rose while in a blizzard, it's raining in front of the house but not out the side.. things like that) but no matter it soon turned into an interesting mystery. I found some of the HO scenes to be qute challenging..that's good and that they were sometimes HO's and sometimes FROGS. I also liked that there were many characters/suspects and a good storyline. Lots of beautiful locations with an excellent jump map. Some intricate mini games, a ton of inventory objects and some good VO's. The hint system worked well with directional arrows if you were stuck. Good journal with an outline of current tasks. Overall I really enjoyed this one especially the graphics and some tricky inventory objects. Nice job very well done.
I recommend this game!

I liked this one right up until the ending despite the fact that it had an abundance of HO scenes. With every new room or peice of the street came another HO scene that you had to do twice. But I liked the storyline and the way it was presented. You are in the town solving the mystery with the brother's Grim communicating and assisting from just outside the perimeter. It was well drawn and had a sort of odd mix of scary and magical. However once you get to the puppet thief's lair, while you are anticipating a big show down, you quickly find him and do a menial mini game to beat him and that's it. Even though the game had repeatedly said how powerful he was. Very anticlimactic. Sorta seemed like a cheap ending to me and it came much too soon. if the game had been finished the way it began it could have been quite good. Too bad. Am just about to play the extra chapter (since the game was so short) and that is the only extra. No morphing, no achievements no collectibles. Such a good start and such a disappointing ending.
I recommend this game!

I found this game to be a very weird mix of just about everything. First the graphics and locations were breathtaking. tons of color and really beautifully drawn. But the story was quite disjointed and often made little sense. There was everything imaginable.. a stone queen and harmony queen, dragaons, gollums, live people, stone people, elves, monkeys, three headed dogs, a pheonix and on and on. At one point one of the humans decides to help me and jumps up to do some welding to repair a pipe. It took a few minutes to realize that he was never going to stop. hmmm. If this had had just a bit more fluidity it could have been great. Also for me I don't buy CE's for one extra after thought chapter. I buy them for more game play which this developer usually includes. But this one had none of it. No morphing, no collectibles, no acievements. Disappointing. I will prescreen form now on to decide whether to buy the SE instead. overall this game was good not great, beautiful but it seems like they threw the kitchen sink at it. If you like the extra chapter it's probably worth the CE. If you like game play buy the SE.
I recommend this game!

Wow amazing.. I thought we would never find another but here it is. Epic adventure with a great storyline, gorgeous artwork, inventive, imaginative and just downright fun. Comperable to the drawn series and that's a tall order. Collectible oragami with story cards to go along with. Loved the rolling dice that signalled a card with more background story. Loved all the puzzles. The making of doors, faces and spray painting postmen. You must enter into several paintings to right things as well as travel through a dark and dangerous world to save your husband from execution. Fabulous. This is a must play for anyone who loves a good story and some great puzzles. Even the adventure play and inventory objects are imaginative. Very good. Loved it.

This was a really great game. Long with really beautiful graphics. I liked how each child/ doll (of 9) had it's own story. Alladin, Cinderella etc. all while trying to rescue them from the creepy clown and his equally creepy puppet jester. Bright with loads of color this game held your interest all the way through. I played in advanced and soon figured out that when you found an HO scene you should finish it, do a few other tasks and then come back to it as it would have reloaded and be ready for another go. This was helpful since there are no sparkles and little help finding HO scenes in advanced. This developer is pretty reliable for length and a good mix of game play, HO scenes and puzzles and this was no exception. Very enjoyable and I bought it with a free game voucher. Not bad!! It was a voucher well spent.
I recommend this game!

I quite liked this one. great graphics especially the water and the clouds. The storyline was a bit odd and the ending a bit hokey but it had a ton to do and lots of beautiful locations. No extras (morphing objects, achievements) but for a SE offering it was long. It was one of those games where everything is either missing a piece or locked. Kind of an old school style but you went from docks, to clockmakers shops, to swamps to pirate ships. Very well done, suprisingly entertaining. Was a good in between game. I enjoyed it.
I recommend this game!

I don't usually write reviews on demos alone so this is a first for me,. I almost bought this game just on the fact that I loved the first one but common sense prevailed and I tried the demo. I was surprised to see it was ERS rather than the origonal developer. And they had their signature piece of music looping through all the HO scenes. Why they like this music. I don't know.. I for one can't stand it. And the HO scenes are again all purple and as one other reviewer qiuite accurately refered to it.."puke green". Why can they not use color in the HO scenes? is it a short cut to save time.. I don't know. Well needless to say I didn't buy. Please give it back to the people who did such a fine job on the first game. Just my opinion but this one not for me.
I don't recommend this game.
