I absolutely love the Mortimer Beckett games and own them all, and now this one. It is the first CE and still comes with no frills. But the changes in this one are delightful and there is very minimal character movement in this cartoonish installment. My demo went by so fast, I just simply bought it, to carry on!
So Mortimer inherits his uncle's museum in the little town of Snuggford. He travels there and finds the place in a mess and while cleaning things up finds a letter from Uncle Jerome telling of an important artifact, the "Book of Gold". This inheritance and the Book of Gold sends Mortimer on an adventure to unusual places, lots of things to search for, a mystery to solve and bad guys to hinder his quest. They want the Book of Gold and he is in their way!
He hooks up with a very bored young lady from Snuggford, just dying for something exciting to happen in her life. They end up together in this big adventure. Opposites attract! I just hope they don't get in each other's way ( lol )! I think this is a sweet, positive change for Mortimer Beckett. He's never had a love interest before and will somehow make the game even more fun.
The theme song is really neat, actually sung and the music in the game has almost a Pink Panther type sound, but I could be wrong. No matter, I love it ! The graphics are sharp, minimal animation, very colorful. No voice-overs and plenty of dialogue, but nice large print making it easy on the eyes. Mortimer's appearance has changed and I like it, big improvement. Now he's a cute little guy, still geeky but more likeable. The last couple of games he was looking pretty Ugh!
The only settings I found were sound and music and just one "How to Play" instruction. There is a skip puzzle button in upper left of screen, which is indicated by a puzzle piece in the green circle with the question mark. That also serves as the hint button too I think. Since I did not use, not sure.
The items you search for in this HOG/Adventure game are broken in several pieces and scattered about, and it shows how many pieces to find. As in all Mortimer games they are cleverly hidden and not super easy to find. It is always a nice, fun challenge without pulling your hair out. There are subtle little sparkles throughout, but not the kind that are annoying. I only had two puzzles in the demo and the first one was quite clever. Mortimer Beckett games are always fun with just enough average to hard challenge.
Look for a cute little mouse in each level, it is your collectible. Complete a level using no hints and win a green check mark. If you accomplish this on each level, you win a trophy. Trophies are kept in suitcase in upper right corner, can view anytime. The level can always be replayed if you don't succeed the first time.
Well, I am anxious to get on with the adventure. I know I will enjoy it, as I have never been disappointed with a Mortimer Beckett game. Are there other big fans out there?! And I know it won't be liked by everyone, but try the demo and have a little fun!
Was looking forward to a good SE game after reading the description. I was very disappointed that I was only able to tolerate for 35 min of demo. Sadly, it had too many boo-boos.
When using zoom/magnifying glass, the picture fluctuated so much back and forth that it caused eye strain and slight headache. It was so annoying! Also, there was a lot of delayed reaction and stalling while trying to collect items or use them. It really slowed the game down. There was too much to read, too much talking in my 35 min. Maybe that will change later on. The voices were okay but the lips must have been moving to another script, lol.
Only played 2 HOPs, they were pretty easy and kind of boring. The graphics were clear and had good color. The storyline mentioned in the game's description should provide a good adventure, involving sci-fi and the paranormal. There is a custom play mode available.
But bottom-line: Even though the storyline really appeals to me, I am afraid to purchase because of the glitches. I even tried various modes which did not help. I am craving a good SE game! All we seem to be getting are time management, griddlers or poor solitaires. I rarely post a negative review and it makes me sad!
One look at that house is enough to create warning signs in MY mind about babysitting there! I own this game series and have played this and Hookman so far. Hookman was very good but The Babysitter was much better, IMO.
This was a really creepy little game and I loved the very suspenseful music. There were a couple of surprise scares too that I enjoyed. I love being scared when I know it is only a game. Also, the storyline was quite good and followed through, making sense, plus it actually had an excellent ending, although very sad! I was surprised at how it ended, didn't expect that at all !
It was a challenging game and contained the old back and forth thing, looking for items and clues, etc. But I frankly did not care because I was really absorbed in the game. The items were pretty hard to find and the puzzles were not so easy. Instructions? Bare minimum if any at all, but that made it fun and NO HOPs to interrupt the flow of the game.
I was familiar with the hint system from playing the Hookman though this time it was tweaked a little. I knew when I needed another firefly all I had to do was backtrack into previous scenes and I would find one somewhere. They created no problems, I was never without a hint and I really had fun looking for them. Skipping a puzzle was easy as long as you remember you need 3 fireflies.
The graphics, color, characters, voices were all great. The scenes were very eerie with all the abandoned medical items and typical stuff found in hospitals and medical labs. I certainly would not have been a brave babysitter like Lisa. No way!!
The game was a good length and I definitely had a lot of fun playing it. I highly recommend it because creepy games with a good plot and good ending don't actually come along all that often. Especially ones with no blood, witches, demons, etc. This one just had a crazed, obsessed doctor to watch out for. I'm hoping the "Last Act", the final game of the series will be just as entertaining.
The ONLY negative I found to this game...there was no way to skip the intro scenes. So every time, you exit and return, you have to watch the opening scenes and it aggravated me a lot even though they took only a couple of minutes. Just felt it was an unnecessary annoyance.
It is very much like The Chronicles of Emerland which is my favorite of all time. It is 1 up/1 down and has lots of nice features, and I love them all. I really enjoyed the demo and I'm sure there is no danger of boredom creeping in.
There are many levels and as we travel through the Kingdom we need to find 5 magic beans which will undo an evil curse. Like Emerland , as we progress, bonuses will appear on some of the cards but don't remain very long, so watch that you use them ASAP. Also helpers become available to us to make our quest a little easier.
There are 4 different card backs and stars and achievements to earn. Each level can be replayed whenever we want to fix our star ratings, I love this feature. A shop is available with good variety of purchases. The graphics are really beautiful and colorful. This is a solitaire game to surely enjoy and feel relaxed. Everything about it is perfect for me, so I am signing off to hit the Buy Button.
However, most of the pictures were quite nice and very colorful. I especially loved the tall ships, the one with red sails being my favorite. There were repeats of several of the puzzles, which is a shame since we expect 500 for our $$.
Their was food again ( and why the sliced pizza??), the usual trinkets and colorful cloth, etc. People in silly poses or model shots and I do not like them! Didn't see many animals or birds. But overall, the pics were far better than the selection we've had in previous puzzles recently. I wish we could have more of the 1000 pc sets again!!
This offering contained the usual fare as far as tools and options, including the drab colored backgrounds. This time the cursor can be changed. Also a nice new feature: after puzzle is finished the picture along with number of pieces, your score and assembly time are shown under achievements. I like seeing my accomplishments in that way. However, right after finishing your puzzle, it is instantly whisked away (hate that!). Unless, I just didn't see it, I think we have lost our little trash can, which I found quite helpful at times. The music is different and pleasant, nicer than that little tune we usually get, IMO.
But alas! I didn't feel that swashbuckling sensation wash over me! There were no maps to hidden treasure, treasure chests full of jewels, skulls and crossbones, pirate flags, swords and daggers, displays of pirate clothing, cannons, taverns, etc. Am I asking for too much? Obviously!
Even though the nice pictures were VERY NICE and the colors were excellent, I am rating only 3 stars because the content did not go along with the theme.
I enjoyed very much the beta test of the game. It was a good, uncomplicated story that I liked because of the theater setting and it is always fun trying to find the mysterious troublemaker.
The graphics were beautiful with fine clarity and excellent color. Characters were rendered nicely and the background scenery was done nicely. The music was pleasant and appropriate.
There were not a great amount of puzzles and HOGs in the trial version, but I found them all fun and the right amount of challenge for me except for one frustrating puzzle. My favorite mini game was becoming a seamstress for a bit in the dressing room and working on a beautiful gown.
The beta test was quite a while ago and unfortunately I have forgotten some points that may have been useful in my review. But I do remember it being a delightful game, void of monsters and demons lurking in the dark. I will purchase with today's BOGO and enjoy discovering the culprit in this light mystery game

This solitaire is 1 up/down and very basic. It has no fun options such as changing front and back of cards. However, 400 levels are a welcome treat. I played 8 levels and found the game painfully easy, but I am trusting the level of challenge will increase as it progresses, with so many levels.
An animal wearing a grass skirt and some feathers is in the corner with crossed arms. Seems unnecessary if he just stands there, but he's cute. Your score is kept and you earn stars. The joker popped up in each level I played, making them a sure win. There were a couple of helpers also, but I didn't play long enough for them to become available. The sparse graphics were very sharp and colorful, the music had a catchy little beat which may soon become annoying.
I am on the fence about purchasing mainly because not sure of the challenge. Sometimes the developer's description of a game is quite misleading. But I am rating 5 stars, to be fair.
I love this series so much, along with the very similar Park Ranger series. It is a great hidden object game that provides relaxing entertainment with fun puzzles, travel to those places I have always wanted to visit. And all with not a witch, lunatic or sadistic killer on board. Cruise Director is just a lovely game and I have been on all the previous cruises.
I especially love that there are so many hidden objects in each scene and with a good no-stress challenge. Plus there are real people which is so refreshing, although the ship personnel look just a little not-so-real, IMO. The on-board scenes and the different off-ship locations are so busy, full of colorful interesting things to see with the excellent graphics.
This is an age-friendly game and one the entire family can enjoy together. I highly recommend it and hope cruise #5 will arrive soon.

I love these ugly little guys for providing such a fun solitaire game. The first 2 are also very good and I play them frequently. High/low solitaire is my favorite and this is one of the best solitaires we have here at BFG. It has good extras, little fun tasks between levels and a goal to reach. The graphics are very clear with cute, interesting scenes along the way as we travel through the game. I think it is designed for all ages and skill levels. Sometimes simple outshines the fancy and the Zombies Solitaire series is a perfect example.

I was totally disappointed with this new Alice Puzzle. Once again we are presented with lots photos of food, food, food and buildings and people. Nothing here resembles the lovely fantasy of Wonderland. The developers are turning puzzle nuts into unhappy campers!
The photos in this offering are sharp and colorful and there are the usual 120 levels. Also the relaxed mode which we love. The pieces are easy to put into place, and again you can use earned coins to buy hints.
However, the puzzles are boring and just don't relate to the Alice story at all, in my opinion. Very sad indeed! I played the demo and it discouraged me from wanting to purchase. If you are not an old grump like me over these issues then you may really like this set of puzzles.
