This game was chock-a-block with cuteness. Pengoo's little voice was adorable (there were WAY too many voiceovers, though), there were LOTS of challenging HO scenes to play, and the mini-puzzles were fun without being too hard.
The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because this game literally made my kid cry. Why? Because after you feed the cute little mouse and bird, then you turn around and feed them to the cat!! A bad move if they were marketing this toward children. I mean, it had the bone-crunching sound and everything!
So long as you don't have a sensitive kid standing behind you, you'll have fun with this game.
Despite all the new and improved Dark Parable games, I still go back and play this one again. Perhaps, for its simplicity? I love the FROGs, the door puzzles and the lovely scenery and music. You can play it in hard mode (no hints or skips) once you finish, but you'll only need to until you find the rope, then you can go down into the well to open the secret door. Briar Rose will appear again throughout the many DP games, and this is one of the few where the detective doesn't get thrown off her horse, LOL!
I've played this one a few times over the years, and I always find it to be entertaining. It's more "FROG" than "HOG", but I like that. The story isn't particularly original, but it's a beautiful game, and there's LOTS to do in it. The mini-games were also a hoot, not overly difficult at all. I have the CE version, which adds an extra chapter that gives you the closure you need if you just want the bad guy to get his karma. Loved it!
This was one of the first HOGs that I ever played, and I STILL enjoy it after all these years. I love the evidence board where you put all the clues into categories, and the autumn atmosphere of Maple Creek is enchanting. A great beginning to a great series!
If you liked the movie "Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas", you will definitely be into this game. It was a toughie, so you might want to play in beginner's mode even if you normally don't (there will be no HO scenes unless you do beginners anyway).
It felt more like a large file game then it did a HOG. There are points where you will get stuck and hints won't be provided, so you'll have to peek now and again at the Big Fish forums or YouTube videos (especially for the ending).
My absolute FAVORITE part was collecting all the candy to buy decorations for my backyard for Halloween. This game really got me in the mood for costumes and trick-or-treating!
This is a game I've came back to play again and again because it's so cool! The cut scenes are as good as any movie, the graphics are amazing, and the story line is very riveting. This goes down as one of my favorite HOGs of all time!
This game turned out to be better than I expected! The HO scenes were relative to the game (instead of just looking through a pile of random junk), the mini-games were challenging (especially the moving furniture games) and my absolute FAVORITE part? The hints that were circled in lipstick!
The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is because if you stop playing, you have to start the scene from the beginning.
This is one I've came back to play a few times because it's SO BEAUTIFUL! The lovely graphics and music, interesting story line, and fun mini-games definitely makes this one worth playing.
FYI, in the CE version, there is a whole other chapter, quite lengthy, that makes the purchase worth it.
I REALLY wanted to like this game, I love all games related to Christmas, but I just couldn't get into this one.
There was too much dialogue, and it was all over the place. I normally don't skip conversations while I'm playing games, but I had to in order to get through this one. The music wasn't Christmasy either, which was a bummer.
That being said, the scenes were beautiful and I did enjoy the mini-games. This might be a game that's suitable for young children or beginners, but it wasn't for me.
I've been playing this game for years and STILL love to come back and play it again.
I love hidden object games that revolve around food, and very few exist, so the Gourmania series is a real treat for me. It's part HO, part time-management. I love how accurate the food process is, getting to choose from a large variety of restaurants, and upgrading the kitchen appliances and utensils. I truly enjoyed it!
