Really liked this game. loved the graphics and characters. appreciated the take on characters interaction- thought that was going out of the box. standard HO areas. thinking puzzles. Journal but no map or task list but game does have some hand holding so need is debatable. Not a long game nor short depending on your game speed. I'm not sure how many games this designer has put out but i see great potential for the next one especially if they check some of the games with maps, task lists, interactive HO scenes, less hand holding/simplicity. I recommend but for experts it is the joy of the game. Matouks

This game has everything one would want as a change from HO, adventure, etc. Good graphics, nice voice over, power ups and so on. For $3.05 and endless hours of timed or relaxed gaming to finally solving the puzzle/mystery one cannot go wrong. Worth a demo play for sure. Matouks

great graphics, voice overs & music. HO junk piles and challenging. i'm beginning to think i expect little things - such as ten second black wait screens between every movement thru game no longer exists - not so in this game and i haven't the patience to accept that in a good game this could not have been dealt with. an unfortunate no buy for me. frustratingly Matouk.

This was an excellent game with good graphics, music, some hard mini games, a twist with HO and for me about 6 hours play (as some games make you work for solution). I gave it a grudgingly two stars and debated about one star. I find mild insanity reigns when i click on an object i know to be right and after 8 clicks go to hint only to have it show the item...eg. ring and coat hook 2 examples but were many more. This is really unacceptable in a game - particularly a game this good. How much trouble can it be for an item to have a greater 'click factor'? Blam is off to a good start but hope they fix this problem. Recommend if this does not bother you. Matouk

I agree with gingergal. The designers outdid themselves with Mystery - Surface... However, having said that, this game balances for those who will find enough of a challenge within Black Isle and the graphics, sound, fun factor and length are still well done. Sparkles show up where it is stated that there are none for advanced (too bad). Map is great and most HO and HO/adventure designers should look to this game as an example of what to give the player.
I recommend this game!

Unlike so many games similar in story this is intriguing, logical, and engrossing as a storyline. Graphics and music are wonderful - right colours used for storyline which draws one in. Lots of locations which require some memory usage of one's brain. HO are popup and fitting to story-some items are in other areas but popup remains open so you know where to return with item. An adventure/HO using strategy. Task section in journal if needed (i did). Can't decide if a map would have made a difference - there is some going back and forth but that is how you find out the next move. As an avid HO/adventure player i loved the differences this game offered and think the designers thought it thru to offer us something of a change and challenge. Hard not to give it a 5 overall when compared to same old same old. Matouks

Looked forward to this game but there was too much hand holding - prefer not to be told what item i need for an action or where i can find it. Would like to have had a map with ability to go from area to area - needless amount of travelling thru outside/inside, etc. Found nothing new in minigames and out of frustration skipped two. Graphics and music/voice well done. Recommend for a newbie to HO games. Having just finished Surface Mystery... which had newness and challenge - if you are an expert/ intermediate try demo-know it is like the entire game then decide. Matouks

how is it possible to dislike or find fault in this game. some games, while good, seem like the designers never play this type of game and so it is same old same old - not here. the designers thought of interesting mini games and a spin on the HO. not every area has clues of what to do next (i played advanced game) which added an extra/fun challenge. the graphics are beautiful and the music not annoying. no need to travel in areas that are completed and the fact that one carries inventory items rather than at the end of each chapter have to repeat traveling to find an object is brilliant. two comments: some items in HO were not easily obtainable because of narrow area for clicking (hate wasting 30 minutes because i think i have the wrong item and it turns out it is a narrow clicking area) and one area was too dark for me to see i was to activate it (an area that did not have a clue/magnifying glass). these are minor however and the game is long, challenging and superb! matouk

Lots of hours of play with regular or advanced. I played advanced with no problem and the right amount of challenge. Minimum conversation with characters. Appropriate hidden object scenes with some items requiring more than a click. Good puzzles - variety. Diary and task list a plus. Some back tracking but is a tight area so no problem. Screen a little dark in places but fine with brightness adjusted. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I recommend this game!
