Firstly, for me mosaics are a dream come true and this one has good colours and somewhat challenging. Now to the why...why do designers still put picture backgrounds on the puzzle square. When one is using greens or dark colours there is a blend and easy to make a dumb mistake. Either make the square a solid/bland colour or fade the background if you can't give up the picture. The highlight vertical and horizontal is too flashy altho' again it could be partly the background. I may have missed it but I didn't see an option on player deleting the squares - personally it throws me off when it a square automatically disappears (especially with the background. I like to delete/count off the squares with an automatic delete when a line is finished. Would have loved the game but I've played/own so many that I'm spoiled. See Rainbow mosaic treasure trip 2 and fantasy mosaics. Recommend with try first.
love mosaics and this was no exception except for the grid.I didn't even finish the trial as the three colours of grid blended together and I kept making mistakes. 3 colours: empty square grid - square that contains no letter - and lit up column when cursor is on it. Each choice should be a little bit darker or another colour altogether. First time I've come across this bit of frustration - obviously my eyesight needs help... recommend this game but not for me.

Just finished the hour of this remarkable CE at standard game price and am writing this while i'm loading the bought game - it is a fair size at 1 GB so i expect a good length of play. I am playing adventure mode. Morphing objects in HOS, challenging locks, challenging puzzles, collectible mysterious chests, collecting coins for enhancing the alternate match 3 game, adding a hint and cutting the time of skip function. There is a diary with a task list as well as collecting two pieces for a map at the beginning of the game. A glove for further action against the nasties. Find diary pages explaining about the town and people. Some items to be found require combining before use. Continually offers variety so game moves very quickly. This is a game that is not to be missed and kudos to the developers. For those who yearn for a good game please at least try the hour demo - guarantee you won't be sorry. Matouks
Choose your adjective for brilliant, awesome etc game. Lots of thought went into this game and it was looooong. I was never bored or frustrated. Excellent having the map. Wish I didn't have the clunk aspect when using the mouse in some of the game truly hate that sound and it isn't needed. Recommend trying the whole of the demo before deciding. Matouk
Everything said in the previous reviews I would also say. Always a great game from these folks but i've noticed that the games from them are getting easier and easier. There is no challenge in this one even on hardest level, no moments of thinking/strategy and altho' too much travelling can be a pain having all game play within the same area -especially with a map makes for a less than challenging game. I would recommend to beginners but for hardcore or even medium core players - play the demo then decide. The first surface game is the benchmark for me, i was stunned at how wonderful the gameplay was and did not want it to end. Disappointingly this one is a no buy for me. Matouk

Played on expert -thank you for choice of no black bars and skip in games (i seldom use them but i want to know they are there on expert choice). Excellent production values - the developers couldn't of had much sleep & maybe a few nightmares. Graphics fantastic, detailed and creative. There’s a map (not interactive), notes, journal and SG. This is the first time i won't complain about real actors Natural voices and natural-sounding dialog. Eerie soundscapes. Was so lost in the adventure i was half way thru before i realized the HO playing was missing. It is gothic and not much new but the endeavour put into this game makes it unique, challenging and recommended.
Firstly, must all games be dark/gloomy to be evil - this game offers light, softness and colour and remains evil. Secondly, we all complain about same old minigames and when, as in this case, we are offered something new, different or with a twist we are not satisfied. Good to find no hand holding, makes one think and try different approaches and a task list is constantly available- just a slide over by mouse (if nothing is going to happen in scene no tasks are shown). Interactive map & diary. Full instruction notes are in miniwindow of minigame. I personally liked the no voiceover (better no voice over than bad voiceover) and soft music, creepiness and sound effects fitting for storyline and graphics. one sour note - not just this developer - make sure area to be clicked is large enough whether in HO or placement of item... nothing is so frustrating as trying 6,8, dozen times to connect only to have to relent and use hint to move on in game (only 2x in this game but no less frustrating). This was such a unique game - hope developers do more. - Matouks
Most everything has been said by Nilosh's commentary. Art work was with great imagination and beautiful colourwork - i was blown away with the detail. I personally do not like live acting in these games and seeing the creativity out of many artisits imagination just enforces what can be done with a game. Chamber orchestration in background was appropriate. I was overjoyed when games -ERs the first i think- gave a choice of no black bar and skip on minigames in hard mode so I played this one originally on hard mode and it was bloody hard -which is wonderful for a change and challenge- but had to switch to advanced so i wouldn't have to refer to SG. Still snuck a peak once more. Only think i'm that good LOL. True - similar story, similar HO scenes & minigames but sometimes one has to appreciate what goes into the game and for me this one delivered. Matouks

Great idea to have ho and match 3 together for those who like both (like me). instructions are clear once you find them not sure why i had a problem - there are 2 ways to see instructions - the ? (upper left) shows a scroll where you click on adventure for ho explanation and match 3 for that explanation, from there it is easy and straight forward. Once you have earned a match 3 item (scissors, perfume, bomb, etc) it will notify you that the store is open and one can buy up to 9 'power ups' - nice touch. The masks are too similar and some might have trouble trying to get a match- really should be different colours that stand out. Good colour, graphics, records are a nice touch. My complaint is timed vs relaxed. I am so used to clicking expert on the games that i clicked timed and there is no way to change it without starting as a new player #really, in 2012 that feature locks you in without being able to return to menu for change#. The similarity of masks and the slowness at times of the match 3 #4 or 5# make it difficult the clear the board without numerous tries plus the items that one purchases at the store don't always work #might be #purposely# the area of the board that limits one or they just aren't working. So i'm still debating whether to start over so i can get relaxed or persevere. Note: not to take up too much time when starting game the trick is to click PLAY when it sparkles #after tutorial#. hard to make a decision based on the demo but for ho/match 3 folks & relaxed mode it is great. My overall rating and review title say it all. Two additional notes: loved the minigames that thought outside the box - eg. match two with rotating balls and the cube minigame and thank you for the hardest level still having the skip factor - I appreciate the challenge and will persevere for a long time so if the skip takes a long time to appear it works for me to be there altho i seldom use it. Many, many points for the SE portion ending - there are some CE games where the ending of SE portion leaves one wondering if the game is over and what just happened(?!) to the ending. This game is so well done that altho the bonus is wonderful and continues the theme faultlessly one can be satisfied that the designers took into consideration the players who will only play the SE portion deserve their best effort as much as the CE players. With thanks - these designers are among the best in the business as proof of all the games they develop.
