You and your daughter are headed to your high school reunion only to be transported back to 1965. The high school is inhabited by ghosts and your daughter has been abducted by unknown forces. And you're off to rescue your daughter and unravel the mystery behind a deadly gas leak that destroyed the town.
This game allows Hint & Skip even on Expert mode. Gameplay is good, but not all actions to progress are logical. HOPs are varied, quite often multi-levels, includes finding morphing objects, finding objects from riddles, and many interactions. You also have the option for Match 3 instead of Hidden object at any time. Most puzzles are easy to moderate.
I liked the overall premise of the game, but the narrative surrounding the gas leak had me scratching my head "Huh?". Would have been better if the focus was entirely on rescuing the daughter.
I recommend this game!

The premise of the story is fine, but gets pedestrian when it delves too much into the background of the story.
This is a standard issue HO game, with excellent game play, allowing Hint and Skip even on Expert mode.
You use the Amulet (lower left), which acts like a talking crystal ball and imparts magical powers to freeze enemies or bridge an otherwise impassable area.
It is a long game and fun to play.
I recommend this game!

You play a detective called to investigate the murder of a young woman in a manor with ghosts, a midget who runs Frankenstein like experiments, and attending to the injuries of the manor's inhabitants.
Yes, it is a little farfetched, but a fun journey through it all.
The game has many puzzles, each can be played Easy or Hard mode. There are 3 modes of play, and Hardest mode still gets Hint and Skip.
There's a special machine at bottom left corner that requires finding clouds, suns, and stars, that's used at the finale of the game.
This is a standard issue HO game. There is a warning about scenes of violence, but it is very G-rated and not scary at all. The artwork is done well, and if you like puzzles, this game has several frustrating ones to solve.
I recommend this game!

The game starts out great with good gameplay and logical actions, but gets illogical halfway through, making for frustrating game play.
Nevertheless, the artwork is terrific. Story plot is decent. The voiceovers don't match the characters and sound disconnected .
The game is 80% puzzles and 20% HOPs. Each puzzle has choice of Casual vs Hard. There's a mix of easy, moderate, and frustrating. Puzzles lack a Reset button, which I hate. Halfway through the game you acquire a snowman helper who retrieves items high up in tree branches etc by throwing a snowball. If the snowman is jumping up and down, then it's a clue he can be used in the scene.
The ending is unnecessarily abrupt in an otherwise long game.
The game has a lot of good things going for it. It's not perfect in every aspect, but worth a buy, if not a demo.
I recommend this game!

As the title of this review notes, it's a strange medley of elements for an HO game, and yet, the gameplay is for the most part excellent. I played on Expert mode and managed with few hints and one skip.
The puzzles are mostly easy, except for one, which I could not figure out. HOPs are standard variety. Actions to take are easy to intuit from the surroundings, but becomes more ambiguous in the latter half of the game.
One unique feature of the game is a magical amulet (lower right corner) which glows when it's time to use the amulet to direct an animal to perform a certain action. Be on the look out for that.
Another somewhat unique aspect of the game is to move back and forth among scenes, you click the right hand select button when the cursor is at the BOTTOM of the screen. Most games have you veer right or left, up or down, to travel among the scenes. This game doesn't do that.
The story doesn't make much sense, but if you can look past a nonsensical plot, it's an enjoyable game to play.
I recommend a try out.
I recommend this game!

I'm a huge fan of the Jewel Match series (that builds castles). This game builds 5 gorgeous castles, probably the best of all the games in this series. It's one of the few games where I actually download the game's wallpapers.
I do wish the devs provided a feature that rotates all 5 castles as a slide show of all castles built instead of one set wallpaper.
The game has 200 levels to complete. The last 40 levels are harder to complete, esp if you want 3 stars, unless you buy power ups like increased chance to find Joker card, remove selected vs random cards, add 25 additional cards to deck, see hidden cards on the table.
The goal is to find emeralds on each level, and the emeralds allow you to buy upgrades to building the castle.
Bonus games consist of more solitaire card games, 12 total. I tried all of them, but only liked about 4 of them. The bonus games have a timer so you can beat your best time.
There are Achievements to earn, but for bragging rights only--does not garner additional emeralds, coins, etc.
This type of game you can play for days before completing all 200 levels, and indefinitely, if you never tire of solitaire card games.
There are instructions for game rules for each of the bonus games, but the print strains the eye (ie small font). It would have been better if the instructions were INTERACTIVE like it is for the main game. I think the devs were lazy in this regard.
I would have preferred different bonuses, such as hidden object scenes, mahjong, or jigsaw puzzles. I guess being a solitaire game, they focused exclusively on card games.
However, I still love the game and the castles built. The castles ROCK!!!!
I recommend this game!

I'm going to be the outlier here and give thumbs down for this game. I did play the 1st Harrowed Halls, and enjoyed that game. This game, I did not like as much.
Here are the things I didn't like:
1- this game has blood stained walls, ghosts that jump out at you for a scare, has themes of adultery, revenge, and murder. Not that I am prissy, but it's more violent and graphic than usual. I don't think it would be appropriate for players younger than 13.
2- as per #1, all the scenes are dark, gloomy, gray and brown. This really is a house of horrors that is haunted and harrowing to wander among. Again, some people may like this.
3- The story plot is pretty convoluted and doesn't make much sense, but a minor issue. Most of the HO game plots are formulaic, thin on logic, and forgettable. This game is no different.
4- The 1st game in series used the cell phone to locate items, as a variation on the junk pile HOPs, which I thought was a great innovation. This game has maybe 20% of this feature compared to 1st game, so to me it was a disappointment.
Good things about the game:
1- it's a very long game for an SE. There are many rooms to explore, many puzzle-based actions to progress. The HOPs have a lot of interactions and therefore not boring.
2- the protagonist is male, which if you're a guy, should be refreshing. I'm actually not a guy, but just FYI
3- puzzles are mostly easy, but not boring
4- gameplay is excellent, except for a few areas where it was not obvious what should be done next.
I would recommend this game because it is a long game with excellent gameplay, but the story is convoluted, not told well, and it is more violent and gloomy than I would like. If you are in a dark mood and want to go darker, this game is for you.
I recommend this game!

This appears to be a companion sequel to The Beasts of Bremen, but takes off in a completely new and unexpected direction.
The story is told well, without making me fall asleep or get distracted. Animation and special effects are well done. It's mainly a fairy tale with lots of creative touches.
Gameplay is excellent, and you can play on Expert mode and still get Hint, Skip, and helpful messages. Most puzzles are easy and manageable, except the last one, which I didn't understand at all.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable game with engaging story that will make the hours melt away quickly.
I recommend this game!

The story is a bit far fetched, but told well, with excellent logical gameplay. There are more puzzles than HOPs, with most puzzles being easy but not boring. Graphics are good, animation and special effects are excellent.
What I liked most is you can play game in Hardest mode and still get Hint and Skip. You also get helpful messages and interactive objects get a blue circle minus the '+' sign on Hardest mode.
The game is fun to play, and puzzles do not frustrate.
I demo the CE, but felt it did not offer enough extra to justify the cost. However, the SE is an excellent value.
I recommend this game!

This is one of the better games in the Christmas Stories series. The plot is easy to follow, with unexpected twist, and of course, a happy ending.
The artwork is a joy to wander among, but less busy and rich in detail compared to the very 1st one.
There are more puzzles than HOPs, and most are easy to solve, with a few exceptions.
I demo the CE, and felt it didn't offer enough to justify the price of two games. If you like morphing objects, getting achievements, decorating with items bought for collectibles found in the game, go for the CE. The SE is good on its own, and the ending does not feel truncated.
The animation and video clips for this game are high def and movie-like, ie outstanding. If only all devs followed this standard.
This is a fun game to play, whatever the season.
I recommend this game!
