Now that I've finished the game, I can't quite say if I liked it or not. I mean completely. The main game is really-really good, which surprised me I dare say. But then the bonus game was really bad, with the highlight of its finale. I mean, why must all games copy one another? Why must always the final scene be about a last battle, that is usually so ugly designed and without any concept, for its solving... I have no words.
How can a game with witches be bad? It just can't! So, this one is an adorable game, with good tempo, lots to discover, a pretty moody atmosphere and some crazy witches with hidden agendas and... artifacts! The bonus game is also very interesting and lasts long -as it should- and also, you can play each of the puzzles choosing either easy or hard mode. And that is very helpful, since the majority of the puzzles are just super hard to solve.
Oh well... this title was a huge disappointment. And although it has left its legacy and mark, as an -usually- exceptional and very lyrical HOG, this episode was just... all over the place. Completely vague with arbitrary puzzles most of the time and so much blink going on, that it was like a illustrated museum of some sorts. I began to like it only after the 7th chapter and that says a lot!
My, what a game. Lots of things to explore, to... fear, to collect. Shadows behind every crack and a little horror story that makes you believe that you are leaving it. Apart from 2 puzzles that I hated (the horse figurine mold and the cross, I think it was), I really loved it. It has truly unique puzzle and doesn't let you get bored, since its mini HOGs are a combo of pairing and seek and find objects. So, for sure, not your average HOG game --and that's a good thing.
Well, overall I am a fun of PuppetShow --who isn't? But this episode was kinda disappointing and a bit conservative in the creation department, in comparison to every previous one. Although it started out very strong and I was excited of what may come, it had issues here and there, that subtracted from my overall satisfaction. The black bar is way too thick, the hint button next to the map made me misclick it, and all of the sudden the ? icon should be pressed. Although, usually it's been just an indicator of some more info on an object or scene. Only exciting thing, where the cinematic close-ups. Pitty...
So this one is truly impeccable and has it all; a unique storyline, lots and lots of things to uncover, combine and use, and also some surprises from... unique creatures! I'll just point out the only negative feature, so this is out of the way. Lately, the design teams have the bad habit of creating (for the footer menu bar) hint-objects that are huge. I mean, in this one, you have a big sphere that is constantly moving. Seriously? Sooo distracting. And that's it. Everything else, is perfect. Really! If you play this one without any help or glimpses, remember to look out in every scene for the puzzle-greenish-tapestry like piece, that's showing on and off. And you'll discover some pretty amazing puzzles and mini HOGs, where you combine things in order to move on. Like a game in a game. Awesome job, creative team!
A quite enjoyable game, that gives another meaning to the word "photography" and even... "selfie"! In the scene, quite at the beginning, when you are in front of the ship, don't forget to... click (I won't tell you where exactly), to earn a reward! And in every scene, look around for the morphing bolt-sign. Plus, in the mini HOGs, try out the match-3 games instead: you'll be asked to save the cat in an original mini game. Cheers
Well, I don't honestly know why this got so low (3 1/2 stars) rating. I mean, I did enjoy it, otherwise I would be lying only to agree with some of the others. Do I remember the previous episodes of the series? No. And why would I?! When you play an average of 1-2 HOG games per week, on a good week that is, then what you are left with is the flair, the aftertaste of a game. And sometimes there are components that beat the others and although, for example, a game could be lacking in music or logical use of the inventory, those other components take over and win, at the end. So, this to me is a very good and pleasant game and it rose at the occasion and made me happy while I played it. I particularly liked the fact, that it got, not the the main story, but also (almost) 2 bonuses: 1 full extra plus 1 very small, just so you feel pampered. And that says a lot! So, enjoy it and decide for yourselves. And don't compare it with its previous episodes. Who remembers them in detail?! Did you have fun? That's what matters after all.
I don't quite know how to put it; what disturbs me about this game... It's a solid HOG, with lots to do, explore, and combine. With an interesting story and a twist in the scenario. But its overall aesthetics, I don't know, something's lacking, something is not there yet... So for me, this one is a 3,8-star game. To be continued...!
So, this is more of a... adventure game or a long-length game than a short(er) HOG. And that's a really cool thing! In every single scene, you have lots to explore, collect, combine and interact with. So, every scene will take its time, you'll stay here a while or come back to, and feel as if you've played the story for days. I mean, the team who designed this one, really took their time and gave their very best, without a shred of 'skimpiness'. Apart from some over-thought puzzles and the fact that there are scenes (like in the Tamanis/Drakorsis scene), where the snow flakes are so thick you can barely see around, it's a pretty awesome, did I say lengthy (?) but not chatty, value for money game. Although you start from the Stonehenge scenery, in the modern era, you soon will be absorbed into an ice environment, where a whole world depends on you restoring the climate and bringing back the heat.
