Well, this is indeed an original game with strong narration as well as real-time interaction. You get to chase the bad guys, meet along the way some shady characters and yes, maybe save mankind, or at least your skin! Fast, with some aspects of fighting, action and agony... Can't wait for the next episode.
Lots to explore, different guest rooms, suspects, victims and a plot that thickens dangerously so. Beware of the killer... he is in the house. Or should I say, in the mansion?! Quite-quite enjoyable.
This concept brings the Surface series to a whole new level! After playing the "Beyond 2", I'm in the sci-fi mood and I really liked the turn that Surface has taken. Not boring, not unedged... it is more ballsy than ever! And although I skipped too many puzzles in this HOG, the mini games of arrows and linking (the 1st one) got me hooked.

I can't quite pinpoint what is bothering me in this game. I like the artwork very much indeed, and the music although it's repetitive. I like the concept of the story being completed through the main and bonus chapters. And I adore a good fairytale with dwarfs and elves. Who doesn't?! So.. I don't know. Maybe the puzzles themselves should get more refined. Yes, I think that's it. And then you'll have a truly perfect game.

Although, at first, this one doesn't seem like a special game -wait for it-, it will win you over. Not only has it 3 stages (one main game plus 2 bonus games), but also it has some of the most intriguingly logical puzzles I've seen in a long time! That should count for something, no? It's music could use a bit of a touch-up, but the musical effects are good. On your journey, you'll meet some people -some bewitched, some sane- and also you get to be annoyed by your French companion. And when you think you're stuck and there's nothing left to do, remember to check in the inventory the magic pages which, when correctly matched to the scenery, give away the next clue and available move. Look out for the shaped gems in every scene. And even if you don't find them, they'll glimmer. Stay alert!

A pretty game in all its gloominess, with shadows ready to swallow the living and the ghosts. You'll have a zillion things to explore, collect and combine and many interesting places to visit. My only remark would be, that I'd prefer this type of game to be even more thriller-ish and really dark! Otherwise it's a full 4-star HOG.

Well, this one got me in a dilemma. Although it's a classic HOG series, it surely is slow tempo-ed in the unraveling of the plot. The graphics are satisfactory but I can't put my finger on it... something's bothering me. And although you have the chance to search different rooms and areas, still, something is missing.

A unique game, in it own style, it invites you into a greater Game of chase and personal story. With eerie atmosphere and a host that deals the cards, you get transported into a fiction world that influences the outcome of your real life. For the first time in a HOG, you have co-players that either help you or antagonize you. So that's The Game! Overall, it feels more like you're reading a comic-book and interfering with its plot, than that you actually play a game. That's not a bad thing, per se, just a weird characteristic. But I did like its style and it's originality, so kudos for that.

Apart from the oh-so-boring part of the detective that you hold (I mean, can't they think of something else?), it's a perfect game. Or shall I say... purrfect?! You receive a progress percentage indicator and a gadget which shows you how something happened in the past. In the gaming process you lose 2 lifes, but heck, you're a cat (or not?) so, who's counting? Wouldn't change a thing... apart from the detective role that is.
What a satisfactory game, both in duration and in game-play. And also, the bonus game has a good length and it's own back-story. It can use some improvements, graphic-wise, but overall it's a pretty fun and lots-to-do HOG.
