Once past the bright colors the graphics and attention to design details are excellent as usual. However, as much as I love cats, I found the constant meowing in a hidden object game annoying, so I just used hint to finish quickly. Sadly the genie sounds like the terminator which threw me off the game right away. It moves forward pretty well with hints transporting, but I didn't find the script or the story intriguing enough for me to purchase this one. The story is rather dull but the tasks are well crafted and objects well designed. The animals are always a treat to the eyes from this developer. I only wish they could come up with an interesting story and well developed script. One big issue that almost made me call it a day...the lockpick game. Give it a rest please! Also, I disliked the games, so mostly skipped them. If the genie hadn't sounded like "Arnold" and the story had been a tad bit more interesting, I might have purchased this one, but unfortunately, it bored me before the trial was over.
Graphics offer gamma to lighten if desired. Attention to detail is evident. The characters are good and voice overs adult! The story moves right along with tasks that don't take forever to complete. Of course, when the lockpick came into play I wanted to run screaming through the house, but fortunately the developer made it simple...maybe a bit of tongue in cheek because so many of us screamed in desperation to spare us the dastardly lockpick game! I liked the story clarity that moved forward and found the entire trial enjoyable. So, Ms. Holmes meets Oscar, the grandson of Watson. Another match...may I presume? One critique is the first hidden object game was a bit dark even with lighter gamma and a few items were hard to see...a bit small. Since I avoid mini games, someone else will have to rate them. So far this was a fun experience. I'll wait to read the full reviews before considering purchasing this one, but based on what I've already observed this one has potential.
This just seemed familiar. The characters and graphics are poorly crafted, the pop up information is annoying, the clunk after every action is unnecessary. I usually give a trial at least 15 minutes this one lasted 7 minutes. It was awful. Nothing new or interesting, old development styles that surprise and bore me. Grainy graphics, wooden poorly crafted characters that weave back and forth...guess the indicates they are breathing. How can developers continue to produce the same old dull presentations with so much innovation and creativity out there. As a player I want something to pull me into the story and gain my interest. Circus/Carnival themes are so old and predictable, poor graphics and character development is really unacceptable in this day and age. Hire new talent to infuse life into your productions.
Intro is story book detailing some back story. Graphics are okay but seem smaller than most games in some scenes. Several objects involving tasks are also small. Tasks require back and forth travel with no transport. Loaded with mini games that are simple and seem to be more time wasters than pertaining to anything in the story. The one hidden object game I played is downright sad...collect a bunch of sheets/scarfs to make a rope.
I found the script and the dialogue boring and overdone in some instances. Characters are attractive but wooden. Voice over on one sister is too young for her age. Why developers tend to use childish voices for adults is beyond me. The first guy encountered is a jerk and sounds like one even after the girl saved his life. His voice over is grossly overdone.
When the girl works on saving him, that is when she gets the scarfs and sheets to make a rope and then ties it to a balloon. Next she needs fuel...any kind of fuel! Guess what she finds to use? MOONSHINE. That was it for me. See why I don't want to waste any more time with this game. Who writes this dribble? Moonshine! Really! I give up!
I was hoping for something entertaining. I particularly enjoy Hidden Object games and this presentation provided lots of them. However, even though beautifully designed, I often wondered how some of the items related to the story line. Also, sadly, many items are very small or hidden in dark corners and hard to see.
The story, between running back and forth, was interrupted by a multitude of games and really didn't offer much substance.
Games are sometimes repeated 3 times followed by poorly crafted storybook pictorials to relate some back story.
The Ice Queen script is pretty sad as well. Instead of her saying anything interesting, she just threatens and did so poorly...sad voice over.
The characters, scenery and designs are nicely done but the script needs serious rewrites and editing to provide more story than games. Like I said, the story is dwarfed by so many games.
However, if you are more interested in Hidden Object and Mini games this presentation is for you. Also if you like to run back and forth 5 or 6 times to complete a task here you go!
All those games did for me was to break the continuity of what little story the developer provided and lacked so much in character interaction that I lost interest and had difficulty relating to them. I found this game boring. I quit with 21 minutes left on trial.
Take the trial for yourself. See what you think.
Developers might consider that adults and well as pre-teens and teens expect more out of games these days and for some reason they continue to produce the same old tired presentations with the same old games. With all the talent out there, I hope someone will wake up and innovate.
The story seemed to move forward. Characters are nicely designed but move back and forth which is distracting and annoying. Turned music off. Sounds are horrible. Clunks and dings when you click on something. Hidden Object designs are nicely done but game styles are either confusing or boring. Mini games...call it a day on those old repeated dead games. Continuity is strange, dialogue made me shake my head.
Drive down a road and it starts to crack up. How original? Gas station is deserted with ONE old sleeping owner, but background voices drone on indicating there is a crowd...somewhere? Open the door and bats or birds fly out.
Later travel back to 1985 and traffic noises and horns...no traffic. WHO writes this stuff, who continues to develop OLD tired designs, WHO overlooks the player's satisfaction. Do I need to say more.
I couldn't finish this. It was like really stepping back in time and I found it boring along with lots of back and forth and absolute silly tasks.
You give it a trial run. Make your own decision. Not for me.
Poor script and dialogue. Child voice is annoying, probably adult trying to sound like a child. Graphics are very good, story is okay but didn't pull me in enough to purchase this one. Magical Owl stolen by some guy who says Hand it over and I won't hurt you. You aren't going to put up a fight for your precious Owl? Who writes this stuff, who edits it, who cares? Mega storybooks to tell backstory. Lazy development and boring. I suggest you take advantage of the trial to see what you think.
Graphics varied from very good to downright dull. Short introduction couldn't hear half what the man said. The lawyer in the beginning seemed to move up and down and Eliah wavered from side to side which I found rather distracting. Seems that different hands are obvious in the various designs, sceneries and interiors
Glass amulet. Sick of amulets, potions, etc.
Turns out the guy is called Tall Man...really? How Original!
Hidden Object games are well designed but some items hard to see. Mini games are well designed but too many of them, broke the continuity, but that didn't really matter because the script dialogue was poorly written and voice overs sounded like children.
I was ready to quit when I had to plant seeds! No bean stalk, thorny rose bush followed by a room with mechanical items.
SPOILER
When the grandson tries to rescue Eliah, he's caught and faces being burned to death when an opening suddenly appears and a miner pokes his head out. Guess he jumps in the hole. It ended there.
Who writes this stuff? Hire some innovative writers, find some interesting people who know how to read a script and hire an editor to proof design.
I really wanted to like something different but graphics are rather dull and characters in some scenes are wooden.Who dressed the woman? Someone from the 1950's?
Dialogue is poorly done, game developers truly need to hire talented script writers. Also, there is a serious need for sound technicians that don't create annoying sounds that makes me turn them off. Guess I shouldn't leave out the music that I am forced to turn off in most games because it just continues to repeat the same music over and over.
Appropriate sounds and music that fit into the concept highlight scenes and makes a game more enjoyable while interesting dialogue draws a player into a story. Wooden characters, poor scripts with childish dialogue and stupid tasks are simply lazy development.
Some tasks are downright silly in this game and just makes me shake my head. Gas grass trimmer...don't you think someone might hear that? I won't go into opening a bottle of Champagne with a cork screw! Have developers ever heard of research?
World coming to an end and a traveler from the past comes to save it...really. Shades of Terminator!
Hidden object games are poorly developed with hard to see items. Mini games are a nightmare. One game took for ever to complete and only hints are available to move forward.
On a positive note, the story did more forward without a lot of back and forth, but for me it just didn't keep my interest enough to purchase. Take the trial run for yourself and make your own decision.
