Overall: Lots of back and forth. Disliked storybook HO to explore backstory in order to move forward, not well developed either (poorly drawn) and seriously not on par for Boolat! Also throughout the journey you encounter characters and must ask them 3 questions (posted for you) which I found annoying because you must ask them to move forward. Also that annoying bird needs to be eliminated from the game. Many characters are wooden with little movement or animation. The villain is so poorly designed I’m not sure how he even related to the rest of his family which was rather disappointing. You advance forward gaining spells (dispersed through your hands) by completing different activities in order to fight the villain, etc., but this is such an old and tired theme that I found it boring and just wanted to get it over with. I am sad that this game was so disappointing because I looked forward to another Boolat game, but this one was so bad that I had to force myself to finish it. I suggest you test the trial game before you purchase to make your own decision.
Graphics: Vivid and often garish. Maybe the icon for the game should have been my first clue. Sounds: Okay. Except for one annoying bird…mute that bird! Music: Celtic was nice, but got old towards the end Characters: Under developed/designed Voiceover: Some good. Some reminded me of child-like cartoon characters Hints: Great. Some transported Map: Didn’t use HOG: Well done, detailed objects, a few in dark corners and found that annoying. I really disliked the childishly drawn storybook theme HO games to revisit the backstory. In my opinion, using this concept is lazy development. Mini Games: Nothing new, slides, connects, time consuming some hard to figure out and didn’t enjoy most of them.
Very well-crafted graphics and appropriate sounds. Music is okay but a bit on the jazzy theme. Good characterization and good voice overs, except the accents seemed to come and go at times...a little British, a little not British? Excellent hint. Well-designed HO games, detailed and interactive and objects are visible. A flickering light in one HOG was rather annoying but short lived. The use of a storybook in a HO game was EXCELLENT and enjoyable when they used photographs vs. those poorly drawn/childish books. Nice change of pace! I enjoyed the entire journey throughout the trial and I will purchase this game.
Excellent Graphics, good sound and music, hints work well, excellent HOG, well-designed Mini Games.
Overall: Good Intro, you select your character which is a little different and fun. Escape from cell made me laugh, how much stuff can one find in a barren cell to use to escape, well surprise, you find what you need. Good details. Soapy sponge looked like a real one! Mini Games are well done, yet some are very time consuming. HOG are interactive and equally well developed. Interesting journey so far and like that it moves forward instead of a lot of back and forth. Will purchase.
Lots and lots of mini games nothing new and skipped them, HO great but repetitive music throughout. Another tired and old concept: hospital/school theme with crazy scientist using a mysterious virus that turns people into monsters. I used to enjoy this developer, but lately they have offered few new concepts or innovations. Just couldn't find much to enjoy, so I would suggest you give it a trial test before you purchase.
Viewed the trial and into 1 hour decided to stop. I've seen this all before in other games. Also I'm not a fan of what I call "gritty" graphics. I have come to expect high-quality graphics and characterization as well as fine detail in scenery, this was not on that par. The characters were wooden, with mouth movements and the story line was more than predictable. The scenes had rock-like appearance instead of polished. The voice overs were well done and the scenes well displayed but nothing new. The hint transported when needed which is a big plus. Mini games were easy enough for a non-fan and the HOG were well done with some interaction. Not a bad game, relaxing and moves forward, and music was appropriate for game, but just not my taste. I suggest you trial this one and decide for yourself.
Just played the trial for 1 hour and found the game rather strange in many ways. Graphics a bit dreary, few characters and they are all creepy except for the girl you see once. Very little interaction with ghosts or people. Music and sound are good and not annoying. Shouldn't have allowed the guy to talk in the intro sort of turned me off on the game. If developers can't do that well, should just avoid it. Lots of typed dialogue. Had to look for hint and map. All options are UP at the top of the screen and you have to click up there to reveal them. Sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. Rather annoying to have to click at the top every time you want to use the hint and you will be using it a lot. Hint recharges quickly which is a plus. Some scenes are strange and I've seen some part of scene before in another game. Also when you use an item in inventory if you keep it you must replace it before you pick up a newly discovered item, so lots of clicking and replacing. Items found do not go automatically into your inventory. I know I'm spoiled but once clicked should be enough. Hidden object games are well done and interactive. Mini games are middle of line not sure if easy or difficult, I managed to complete a few, so must be easy to start. Just couldn't get into the graphics or the game play, so will not be purchasing this game. As always you should trial it to see if you enjoy it. We all have different tastes, this one is just not mine.
Overall: Not a great intro with two weird looking kids, but that improves. Rather cartoonish characters and creepy theme. Her father’s voice and appearance reminds me of the funny aliens from a movie and I just couldn’t get over that. Even without that reference, he’s rather laughable and definitely odd which is sad when he could have been a strong support, instead he shows up when she forgets her keys. Didn’t like the reset or continue at start of game, too easy to reset. Scenes, searches, storyline were okay to good until ending. Disappointing ending with closure, but just poof it’s over after a few easy match type games. Not really impressed with this game and one I will not play again. Give it a test ride before you purchase to make your own decision. Graphics: Good to very good and can adjust gamma (brightness) Sounds: Okay Music: Repetitious Characters: Cartoonish, minimal motions, but well designed Hint: Teleports. Fast Map: Didn’t use HOG: Good, clear items Mini Games: Way too many, not much new, mostly time wasters but well crafted
Overall: Really disliked the “CLUNK” each time when the hint was used, very annoying and you needed to use hint a lot! Often items in inventory didn’t work where they should, but after using hint item worked. Too much back and forth, but hint transported. Story line was okay but not impressive. Not one of my favorite games and will not replay this one primarily because of the “CLUNK.” Test this one to see if you want to purchase it. Graphics: Excellent, detailed, clear. Some small items but overall good clarity Sounds: Okay Music: Okay Characters: Well crafted, good voice overs Hints: Good response. Often didn’t have a clue where an item from inventory was meant to go. Good thing hint transported! Map: Didn’t use HOG: Good with variety, clear, defined items, visible Mini: Didn’t care for them, too much shuffling around to fill slots, etc. Many were confusing and some annoying because of the repetition and length of time to complete
Overall: Brightness adjustment which was a great bonus! Well-crafted game with attractive scenes and a good story line that moves forward. It starts out with cartoon characters but once done with the intro mostly human characters except for a cute raccoon helper who is not noisy or intrusive. Enjoyed the story line and scenes, well done! Only flaw was the drawn picture ending that was sort of disappointing, but I would play this game again. Graphics: Well done Sounds: Good Music: Celtic. Okay Characters: Most very well crafted Hints: Transports Map: Didn’t Use HOG: Beautifully crafted Mini: Some had more than 2 steps and some were unclear as what to do .
Overall: It might have been an enjoyable game except for the constant CLUNK when you clicked on an item and it became so annoying I just waited for the hint. This was a long game with way too much back and forth for my taste as well as little clarity where items in inventory belonged. Most graphics are well designed with attention to detail. Human characters were well crafted except for the two main characters. Both the villain (husband to be) and the princess appeared plastic and out of place in comparison to all the other characters. Attention to character details missed the boat a bit, guy outside tavern in freezing cold with only a vest on and the old sorcerer had young arms and hands at start and older hands and arms later. Not sure what Celtic accents they were using and often the accent disappeared from the conversation. Hidden Object Games were well detailed and a few had a couple levels, not a fan of storybook backstory where you have to find and place 4 items to move to the next page. Mini Games were okay, not a fan of them either, but gave them a try. Also, each time you obtained a new spell you had to remove “25” runes in a match 3 type of game, but obviously not just 3 runes, so you had to figure out how to remove all of them to move on and it became tiresome. I wouldn’t play this game again. Graphic: Well Done Sound: Good Music: Okay Voice overs: Accents were all over the place Characters: Humans well designed Hint: Too slow Map: Didn’t use HOG: Mostly very well crafted Mini: Well done, but repetitive
