I just finished the demo and was not very impressed. The game pace was very slow, so much so that I was becoming bored and a little sleepy. The only bit of excitement was the confrontation with the lizard creature. He broke into the tavern owned by Pumpkin's father and petrified him. He was wounded by Pumpkin's crossbow before his rapid exit, so the game from that point will begin the search for the creature and find out what's going on and put an end to the terror.
I feel really bad, being unable to provide you with any useful information. But frankly there just wasn't any action to report.
The few puzzles and HOGs I played were very good, interesting, uncomplicated. No need to skip. There was an alternative game available if you wanted to by-pass the HOGs, but I did not check it out.
The graphics and colors were excellent and very appropriate for that particular time in history. I liked the costumes, the voices were very well matched to each character and all the characters were nicely done. Not sure about buying the game right now, only because I didn't experience enough in the trial to influence a decision.
My other Myths of the World games were very entertaining, so maybe I should keep that in mind and trust that The Black Sun will be a winner as well. And will definitely read all the reviews as they come in, as I always depend heavily on them before making any decision to buy.
I gave it 5 stars, after trusting the positive reviews I have read so far, and for the subject matter of the game. I will just have to have faith that my 5 star rating, in this case, is fair and accurate. Would hate to mislead anyone.

I liked being an investigator in this game with such an unusual storyline. I had special psychic abilities acquired as a child in a near death experience. These abilities have helped me my entire life and are useful to me now as I try to close in on an especially horrible murderer.
My first crime scene in this case was unsettling, seeing that the victim was flayed. I do not want to reveal any details because this is a really good story with an unusual reason for the killings. Anything I share might very well spoil the fun, surprise, etc. So I hope you enjoy the adventure. It proves to be very different.
In spite of my choosing the "creepier" version of the game, I saw nothing in the trial version that scared my socks off or made me cringe. Maybe all of it gets scarier or more gross further into the game.
As investigator you are kept pretty busy gathering evidence and looking for new clues. I really enjoyed doing all that. You'll also meet a couple of unusual "people" who give you some helpful tools and new leads and you have to stay clear of the hunters.
The game moved at a really good pace and thankfully there were, so far, only a couple of things to be unlocked...the keys were easily found and the task quickly over with. The tasks in the demo were do-able without a lot of running around and a recipe to be made was fun.
Quite a few symbols throughout, there are some in each scene and there are achievements to be earned but did not check them out. There is a good map and uncomplicated journal and evidence folder. A custom play mode allows reducing refill time on the skip and hint down to 10 seconds. Love that. And you can choose either creepy or not so creepy versions of the game.
The graphics were excellent and color appropriate for all the nighttime and club scenes. The characters were nicely rendered and the voices were good. Can't say much about games and HOGs, as I only got to play a couple of each. But they were quite good, not extremely challenging.
I believe the game will be very entertaining due to subject matter being so interesting and different. Don't recall ever seeing a game with such an unsettling way and reason to murder someone. Nonetheless, it will surely be very popular.
I do think, though, that the creators of these games could do better without using such "cartoonish" creatures, if they are really wanting a strong scare factor. It just looks silly to see those things doing all these scary things to human characters. If the creatures looked more realistic I think the impact would be much greater and the games would be even more popular. Just a thought! Make sense?
I will purchase the CE mainly for the guide and I think one of the reviewers mentioned 2 bonus chapters. Also have to know what the heck is going on and who the evil-doer is behind all the horrific murders.
Diana is working late at the museum and a noise startles her. When she arrives at its source, she is sucked through a portal via a massive Mayan stone, into a beautiful ancient land. She discovers it is an isolated volcanic island, a remnant of a once glorious Mayan civilization.
The characters she meets along her journey are quite unique and can be either friend or foe, as she tries to find her way home. Right away she meets a delightful young boy and his unusual pet. He leads her to the Shaman who seems to be a good man and from there the story only gets better. The rest is for you to find out, because it would be mean to tell you everything!
The graphics are gorgeous and very colorful, with fantastical backgrounds and items to feast your eyes upon. The characters are beautifully rendered and the voices are realistic. Nothing sounds silly or like it is being read from a script. This game has the best of everything, in my opinion.
One of the features I always love is the custom setting, so I can adjust the hint and skip reload times. There are lots of helpful tools and the map is the very best I have ever seen. It is extremely detailed and informative. It makes travelling a snap! It also shows you where to find morphs and collectibles, but I think that feature may be able to turn off in the custom setting.
The attractive puzzles are fun and challenging, but I never had to skip any...no hair pulling while trying to solve. The HOGs were pretty easy but lots of fun. The inventory items were used almost right away except for ones which were small collections. And a few items remain to be used through the duration of the gameplay. Another thing I liked was the large print for the instructions and dialogue.
There are many collectibles because they make up 5 different sets, containing 7 to a dozen or so in each set. I saw this one other time in the Fear for Sale games. Plus we have morphs and achievements for extra enjoyment. The game has a good bonus chapter and the always great strategy guide. I think this is a worthy CE with all the extras, not to mention the fabulous gameplay.
It is an extraordinary story that provides an interesting adventure that everyone will hopefully enjoy. There were no technical issues and the resolution is exactly what my computer requires. Overall this was a perfectly wonderful adventure from beginning to end.
I wish all games contained this same quality and expertise. We would all be doing our Happy Dance!
Free the frog princes from the clutches of an evil witch! Return them to their princess brides, and find out if the kiss of love can break the witch’s curse!

This is an adorable game. Sensational graphics and characters, lots of things to keep you busy. And if, like me, you feel laughter is good for the soul, this game is for you.
I'll keep it short and sweet by saying that I agree with everything Pennmom has stated in her very informative review. Have fun!

Stephan Astor narrowly escapes execution in the opening of the story. At the very last second. he is spared but goes to prison for the next 20 years. When finally freed, he is a broken, bitter man and revenge runs wild! Our adventure gets off to an exciting start.
Our Player Name is written into the Special Orders of Investigation (very cool!). As investigator we are ordered to travel to Marinite Monastery in the small, dreary township of Bordeaux. All its citizens are in a rage against the monastery and want to tear it down. At the request of Abbot Dominic we are called upon to investigate some strange events focusing around the monastery's graveyard, which includes the violation of some of the gravesites. Shall say no more, as other gamers have beat me to the punch. No sense in adding more and possibly spoiling someone's fun.
The game offered up a couple of surprises for me, maybe the same one's will get you, too. I always love to see animals in our games. This one starts off with a beautiful horse, some sweet little birdies and later on, a big, beautiful black cat. Just a little something special I like to see in our stories.
The graphics were simply divine. Perfect coloring for the era depicted. The animals and outdoor surroundings were beautifully done. The characters were rendered to perfection, as well as the voices which were very natural and spot-on. Although, didn't notice much of an accent for the country in which the story takes place.
The background sounds and special effects were so realistic, which included all kinds of birds and animals, and just normal every-day noises. I could even hear the rain as it softly fell onto the ground. The church bell tolling in the distance was a nice touch. It is all these little things that I think make a quality game...I'm not a fan of games that offer mostly silence, as silence doesn't conjure up any kind of emotion.
Loved being able to majorly adjust the reload time for skip and hint. Those are the only reasons I use the custom mode. The games were very enjoyable and with good challenge. The HOGs were interactive and not big, unattractive piles of junk. All the items seemed appropriate for the yesteryear of the game and the colors were also beautifully matched to the timeline.
I really loved this installment of Haunted Legends. The variety of game modes offering everyone the ability to play at a level comfortable for their gaming skills. It also came with a small but satisfying assortment of collectibles and achievements. The bonus chapter is always a special extension of the fun and the strategy guide is many times like having a magic wand to get me out of a dire situation. In my opinion, this is certainly a 5 star game.

I could hardly wait to jump into this sweet fishy world. What a joy to find another Atlantic Quest game after such a long wait. I have no doubt it will be as much fun, if not more, than our last one. It has always been one of my most loved Match 3s. Rebuilding their little city is only half the fun. It isn't just your common, every day type Match 3. It has lots of extra goodies to enhance your play time. And more extras have been added. Don't pass this one up folks! It is one of the best Match 3s in the Big Fish inventory. It will appeal all Match 3 lovers, I think, of all ages and has tremendous replay value, not to mention all the great levels. You won't be disappointed! Definitely 100 stars!!
This is right up my alley...Cadenza and Rock N' Roll ! What could be better? Maybe a hotrod time machine?
I enjoyed the demo, as it moved along at a good pace and gave me a good idea of what the entire game has to offer. It really is refreshing to see a game that gets us away from the fantasy theme for a awhile. The 50s were full of cultural changes. One of the most exciting was the "sinful" music making its debut, driving teenagers crazy and parents even crazier!
This Cadenza story is about Mike Valance, up and coming rock star who wants to leave his mark in the world of music. He is very popular. We begin by seeing him sign autographs before his home town concert starts. A man pushes through a crowd of screaming girls to get his autograph. That's weird!! A little later Mike is introduced to the anxious fans, but before his performance begins a weirdo jumps onto the stage and challenges him to a competition. He takes him on and during the guitar duel something very strange happens. This is where Mike's life is suddenly turned topsy-turvy!
Don't want to spoil the fun for you! I think it is going to be a really fun game and so different from the other games we've had to choose from lately. I already know I will be purchasing with today's sale.
The graphics are beautiful and depict the fifties very well, indeed! The colors are appropriate. Nothing here that I see as a negative. Guitar is my favorite (and Sax) when it comes to that era. I enjoyed the music a lot, although it had a little bit of a modern sound to it (to my ear) that hadn't been "created" yet. The cars, clothing, hair styles were just right.
Everyone's voices were excellent. The characters were rendered wonderfully...individual characteristics, facial expressions, body movement, vocal expressions, driving, etc. Whoever is responsible did a superb job with everything IMO! It was really fun to just look at.
There were morphs, collectibles, achievements and a bonus chapter. In the custom game mode you could make the games skippable or not, and bring your skip and hint reload time down to 15 seconds. I appreciate all the great choices offered in the custom mode.
The games in the demo were good and did not have to skip any. The HOGs were absolutely fantastic!! They were very interactive and the items were not out of place for story's time. I truly hope the HOGs are like this throughout the entire game. Also good that it wasn't a big junk heap to rummage through. Sometimes it is so frustrating.
I think this game will appeal to just about everyone. I'm looking forward to a hefty amount of fun with it. I love the 50s and the music background. In my opinion it deserves 5 stars.
If you love hidden object games, you have hit the jackpot big time with this one!! What a wonderful collection of HOGs...a vast array of color, unique objects, unusual puzzles that are hiding in your objects, mini games.
The contents within this game range from psychedelic to black & white, bizarre to modernistic, stark to pale, vibrant colors to soft pastels, structured images to sweet birds & flowers. Also, great job of color-on-color camouflaging. Sounds crazy, I know! But this game is so delightfully different and VERY challenging. I absolutely love it!
A little tricky at first, learning how it works. But you'll get the hang of it, just give it a chance. You won't be sorry. The pretty flower vine is where your games are found and kept after they have been played. You can go back to them if desired. You put the game into a little box after completed, match its icon to the box. I had to make a note of the game just finished before exiting to menu because easy to forget where I left off (tiny boxes so similar when on the vine). Sounds confusing, but it is hard for me to explain. I'm sure you will quickly catch on...not to worry!
No time limits. Unlimited hints, reloads very quickly. Easy instructions, but I found them unnecessary. Pleasant music. No tech problems.
HELPFUL HINTS: _Swallow your pride and use your magnifying glass if your eyes are glazing over, it may become your best friend in some of the games. (lol) _Let patience be your guide. Pure Hidden may easily turn it into your greatest virtue! _Don't let my comments on challenge discourage you. If you are a die-hard HOG fan, this may be a "walk in the park" for you. I think everyone will have a ton of fun trying to find all the stuff. A good place to test our skills.
God Bless....
This is a superb HOG, so different! The most entertaining and challenging I have ever played, and that's saying a lot.
Well, the demo was a waste of time because the game moved at such a slow pace. I saw a couple of games and a HOG. They were unique but not difficult. I enjoyed the storybook game and the HOG was very interactive which was actually a good challenge.
I liked how all the stuff you need to inform or help you was kept in the briefcase. There is a good map and of course our beloved guide. I saw a collectible doll (it looked like Donavan) and a clover, not sure what kind of extras are included. Didn't check before I started playing the game. Use the custom mode and you can set the hint and skip to ONE second. I really like that!!
The story seems to be based on a nature theme with trees as the main element. Tree emblems and decorations were apparently an important icon throughout the entire mansion, even in the dungeon. I love nature related stories, especially with the supernatural added in, so I'm hoping the game features a lot of it.
Unlike some gamers, I thought the little tree helper was cute and in the demo he was totally silent (a good thing!). So I decided to keep him! But I am wondering if little tree people are the norm in this town. I would have been totally amazed and a little scared, thinking maybe I should make a fast exit. But these 2 detectives didn't even "bat an eye"!
The graphics were excellent as was the color throughout. The music and sound effects were good, nothing to get on my nerves at least in the first 90 minutes. I heard only a couple of voices in the demo but they were normal sounding and clear. As for the characters, I have seen much better. Detective Donovan really irritated me! He's a useless dope, just stands around looking pathetically vague!! No facial expression at all. Therefore, I do not trust him. Should keep a close eye on this guy!
Love the supernatural aspect, but sadly saw none of it in the demo except for a small bit via a camera. And the dead man did something a little scary, don't want to say what and spoil it. So I imagine that will lead to more interest and demon or witchcraft involvement into the story.
So far, I have experienced nothing that makes me want to own this game. The portion allowed us in the demo just did not offer enough of anything to help me make that decision. Usually the demo is a good indicator of what lies ahead.
However, I'll be generous with 5 stars. Maybe it will improve and an exciting chain of events will take us on a great supernatural ride...IF Donovan gets out of the way and we can find the missing key to our invisible car!

I purchased without demo right at the last minute to complete my card on Bonus Punch Monday. Thank goodness it was the right choice.
Spellarium is like Lauruaville which I adore, I own all 5. I think it may be a little more challenging, though. It is so much fun rebuilding and decorating your surroundings with the coins you earn with your Match 3 skills. The mini games are all much the same, my faves are solitaire and find the difference.
This type of game is always a nice change of pace, especially with the quality of Spellarium. The graphics are clear and bright, and interesting. They are very colorful. The music kind of gets on my nerves after a while, but no big deal...an easy fix. It has our beloved relaxed mode and the coins you earn are used to buy buildings and upgrades.
There are many levels and they become more challenging as the game progresses. Making big matches will get you the goodies that cause big explosions and set off loud, colorful chain reactions. The boards have large beautiful tiles and the sound effects are fantastic, especially with your headphones.
Even though Spellarium is pretty much the "spitting image" of Lauruaville right down to the music, it is a great game in its own right. It contains a good assortment of obstacles to blow up and detour, and this game will most certainly satisfy your appetite for innocent fun and will provide the little anxieties that get at you in the more challenging levels, adding a new element of fun.
Spellarium is an excellent little way to take a break from all the dark themed games and is a welcome relief from all the locked doors, lost keys, missing pieces, etc. I really am having a good time with this game and highly recommend to everyone of all ages.
