BASED ON PLAYING IN HARDCORE MODE WITHOUT HINTS OR SKIPS
BOTTOM LINE: Ingenious murder methods in an interesting story with some sneaky surprises.
NEUTRALS:
You get to collect odd objects (such as teapots) hidden in the game
You get to use a special magnifying glass to find blood stains in every scene to earn an achievement (you might like it but I found that not too interesting)
PROS:
THIS IS A FIRST...you get to choose whether or not to have the map on... even in hardcore....I loved that feature
The story is pretty good with very interesting "chapters"
Graphics are VERY well done
Voice overs are good
JUMP MAP is good, without it you'd be backtracking a lot
Dramatic surprises along the way that keeps you on your toes
Lots of puzzles, and honestly, a few are a challenge, but I didn't have to skip any (but I think beginners may get frustrated by some of them)
Journal that keeps track of the story and clues
A lot of things to do......a LOT
Not all of the solutions were obvious, I had to think a little bit
Hidden object scenes had a few items in each scene that needed quite a bit of thought to find (without hints)
The story moves from A to B to C in easy-to-understand chapters with an ending that makes sense and wraps up the game completely without the bonus chapter
Bonus chapter was a fun, stand alone, addition to the story
Achievements were ALL easy to obtain if you put out a little effort
If you are into collecting the blood stains, the magnifying glass stays lit until you find them in the scene so that you know you have gotten them all
Game length was pretty long
CONS:
HOS (hidden object scenes) were junk piles that had nothing to do with the story
Hints were not helpful on lower levels
You have to click "continue" on the dialogue boxes to move forward instead of just clicking the scene....it got annoying after a while
I had fun playing this game. I think you will enjoy it even in the standard version.
I recommend this game!

******LOVED IT******
PROS:
SMART story (for a change) that moves quickly and builds in intensity all the way through the end
TWISTS and turns in the story until the last moment
Music that builds and builds until your heart races towards the finish
Fantastic voice overs
Interactive hidden object scenes with a few CLEVERLY hidden objects but you won't need a magnifying glass
Easy thru challenging mini-games that BLEND beautifully into the plot
At no time did the HOS (hidden object scenes) or mini-games interfere with the story
Story unfolds a little at a time through papers from your daughter's diary
Truly EXCITING ending to the game that left me wishing I could immediately buy its sequel
No map, but the game play is kept between approximately 3 scenes at a time which minimizes backtracking and does not interrupt the story's flow or your train of thought
Characters that are convincingly complex
Everything...music, sounds, story, graphics, voice overs, games, hos, all combine flawlessly to take you on a heart pounding adventure....almost perfection in my view
Good length to the game although I finished it in one sitting because I was having so much fun
CONS:
Just could have been a bit more challenging for experts, but I'm being overly picky on that one.
BOTTOM LINE: A thrilling murder mystery with a complicated plot that will keep you running through the various scenes just to see what happens next. Wish all games were like this one!
I recommend this game!

BASED ON COMPLETED GAME ON HARD LEVEL
PROS:
Excellent voice overs
Unique and interesting (but easy) mini-games
Story builds tension the further into the game you go
Music adds to the creepiness and helps get you on the edge of your seat at the end
Lots of FROGS (fragmented hidden object scenes where you collect pieces of an object, combine them to make a whole, then use it in the scene)
Lots of achievements
Morphing objects, the more you collect the faster the hint refills
VERY helpful map (on two lowest levels) which shows where you need to go and lets you JUMP to it, saves lots of going back and forth
Many different scenes which are all visually stimulating in interesting ways
LOTS of tasks to do
Story unfolds in small bites as you advance such as finding a note which explains part of it, etc.
Graphics are easy on the eyes
No pentagrams, demons, or graphic violence
Based on a love story gone haywire--interesting twists
The MAP IS TURNED OFF on you at times to make the game more unpredictable, but don't worry, you will find your way around and it turns back on quickly
CONS:
The story is pretty familiar
The ending is rather abrupt after a long and thrilling build up and potentially unsatisfying depending on your viewpoint
Game was too easy for advanced players
No map at all on Hard level which means you will backtrack a LOT
BOTTOM LINE: This game has a familiar story line, but it's told in an intriguing way. It takes you on a winding journey through childhood nursery rhymes and gives them a whole new interpretation. I had a lot of fun playing it.
I recommend this game!

BASED ON COMPLETED GAME ON HIGHEST LEVEL WITHOUT HINTS OR SKIPS OR MAP
PROS:
Story divided into 8 chapters
20 Morphing items to collect
5 Parables (you collect pieces of each parable in order to see it--lots of fun)
Excellent voice overs
Lots of FROGs (fragmented hidden object games--where you collect parts of an item to make an entire object that you need to use)
Doable mini games which get increasingly more difficult (but not hard) as the game progresses
On lower levels, the map shows you where you need to go to find tasks that need to be completed
On expert level, NO MAP, NO HINTS, NO SKIPS which I like
Story is good enough to keep you interested and moving along
Story is wrapped up nicely in a touching ending
Many different locations to visit which are visually appealing
Some cleverly hidden items which are fun to find
CONS:
The graphics could be better, they are a little blurry on the cut scenes and rather unsophisticated
The story seemed a bit short to me
Would have liked a jump map to cut down on backtracking
I recommend this game!

PLAYED ON MOST DIFFICULT LEVEL WITHOUT HINTS OR SKIPS
Would give 4.5 if I could.
PROS:
Exquisitely beautiful music
Lovely graphics
3 different portals, like 3 different games in one
Challenging puzzles, but all doable with a little patience
I didn't need to skip any puzzles
Several different styles of HOS, all interesting
Some objects cleverly hidden and take some thought
Many different themes and scenes
Scary guy isn't gruesome at all
Touching story and characters you can care about
Conclusive and satisfying ending
Good length to the game
Voice overs were well acted and convincing
This game is beautiful
CONS:
The shade character was a little too rudimentary for me, an undefined mass
The dopellganger character was also a little to cartoon-like for me
Would have liked a little more creativity with the story line
I didn't think the warning needed to be applied to this game, there isn't anything scary about the game.
I recommend this game!

BASED ON COMPLETED GAME ON HARDEST LEVEL WITHOUT HINTS OR SKIPS
PROS:
DIVERSITY! Lots of people from different ethnic groups
You get to work with a team
Fascinating story line
Many different and interesting scenes with wonderful graphics
Map (which if you play the entire game, you will find out IS A JUMP MAP at certain times!!)
You get to use different investigative technology
Team members are constantly interacting with you which I thought kept the story unfolding in a realistic fashion
Includes glimpses into different cultures and eras
Interesting HOS which I did not think were junk piles and which became more difficult as the game progressed
Many different types of games, some of them a bit of a challenge but all doable and important to the story
Music was a bewitching mix of Native American-style cadence and supernatural voices
Ending is not abrupt like most games. It comes to a graceful and convincing close.
Length of game was very good
CONS:
You have to be precise in your clicks in order to make objects work with others, but it's only a "con" to beginners I think
A few English translation errors
POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE TO SOME GAMERS:
Demon possession of an adult
Exorcism
BOTTOM LINE; I loved it! I might regret not giving it a 5.
I recommend this game!

REVIEW BASED ON PLAYING ON SCHOLAR LEVEL (HIGHEST)
My opinion of this game changed as I COMPLETED IT.
After reading the glowing reviews, I was expecting a masterpiece. Instead, I found a juvenile story which took off on wild tangents that did not contribute to the mood and feel of the game. The game starts with a serious, thrilling scene in which you are given a child and a cryptic task. Soon after, you are confronted with many seemingly random scenes with various tasks and characters including a fantastical helpful metal owl. I hate childish stuff like side kicks. As I went further into the game, I was getting the feeling that MANY interns were each given a chapter to develop and each person came up with their own story. Then all of those stories were bound together with a loosely tied thread. For example; the game starts with you being tasked with saving the baby, you pass through touching visuals with pop opera music and then halfway through the game, you are meeting JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, finding his beans and defeating the giant. Come on! I will refrain from giving more examples as I don't want to spoil the rest of the game. The story is mainly advanced through what looks like a child-colored book which tells you the disjointed story. You can only turn the pages if you find useless scribbles on the page.....what a waste of time! I really did not like that story book. It was visually unattractive, the objects to hunt were useless and the plot just drivel. The game seemed intent on going from serious, to silly, to serious, to silly .... you get the gist. It was like being on a Halloween/Easter/Christmas ride with no tour guide. Many times I was trying to figure out if the devs wanted me to take them seriously or giggle at the stupidity of their forays into side stories. I don't know, maybe it's me, but I thought this game was a huge dud. I hate to be the only thumbs down person, but I have to be honest about my experience. I wish I could have liked it because I bought it and now I'm stuck with it, lol.
NEUTRALS:
Collecting roses
LIKED:
Length of game was good
Graphics were pleasant on some scenes
Voice overs well done
Achievements easily attainable
Bonus chapter is ok, not worth the price of CE
Map was usable, does not jump or indicate areas of interest on Scholar mode
DISLIKED:
HOS too easy
Mini games too easy
Owl sidekick
Music changing from orchestral to opera to silly
Disjointed story
Lots of scenes of machinery
Mood of story kept changing from pastoral to sci fi to fairy tale, etc.
HATED
Ugly storybook which tells the story
Jack and the Beanstalk chapter
BOTTOM LINE: If you're looking for an intelligent, cohesive story with convincing plot twists and supportive scenes, this is NOT the game for you (or me.)
I don't recommend this game.

BASED ON COMPLETED GAME IN EXPERT MODE
This is a cute, fun, easy, short game. I enjoyed playing it, but the whole time I thought maybe I had purchased a kids' game by accident. As the other reviewers have said, it takes place in Historical Egypt which is awesome. The atmosphere is amazing and makes you feel as if you really are travelling with the family. Of course the family becomes separated and trapped while looking for the cat and have to figure their way out. To do this, they must restore and reverse history. It's a lot of fun. My only caution is I think this is more a game for kids, not adults. I found it to be way too juvenile for me, but I'm judging it "as if" I were still in that age bracket. By today's standards it seemed too old-fashioned. You just get pictures of the characters and their lips don't move (for example.) If you want a game you can play with your kids this is it. Enjoy!
LIKED:
Likable characters
Egypt, lots of amazing scenes
Time amulet and goggles the kids use
Game unfolded in chapters
As I finished a scene it said "area cleared"
Map that showed active areas, but it was not a jump map
Journal which gave me clues
Being different characters within the same game
Easy HOS and mini games
LOVED:
Nothing
DISLIKED:
Poor graphics, items seemed blurry to me
Way too short and ended abruptly
Lack of challenge
HATED:
Nothing.
BOTTOM LINE: Great kids'/family game that's easy and quick, but not a game experts will enjoy.
I recommend this game!

BASED ON COMPLETED GAME ON EXPERT LEVEL
I enjoyed this game. I thought it had a really cool story with a strong female heroine and good ending. Even on the expert level, it did give lots of instructions which I think would be great for beginners. It had a set formula per chapter which will also aid people new to gaming. I liked the way that I had to find the pieces of objects needed within the scenes, that was new to me. There are lots and lots of HOS (which annoyed some) but to a newbie, may be good practice. The HOS were easy, but part of the story as were the games. The way the game was structured, everything I did revolved around the story and reaching my end result which I think made the story more believable. I agree with the reviewers who say it was too easy BUT if you are a beginner or want a casual game with LOTS of HOS and a good story, I think you will like this one.
LIKED:
Music was dramatic and old-fashioned like a spy thriller movie
Graphics were generally good
Game flowed logically
Many different types of things to do in each chapter
The main character actually tells you when you have nothing else to do in a scene
Some puzzles were new to me
The story is arranged in chapters
Each part of the object you need to find is listed
Nothing potentially offensive that I could see
LOVED:
Strong, athletic, independent heroine
The story was excellent
DISLIKED:
For me, too many HOS
Games/HOS too easy
NEUTRAL:
Dressing the character at the beginning of each chapter
HATED:
Nothing
BOTTOM LINE; This exciting story, laced with LOTS of HOS would be a great beginner's game or a casual gamer's enjoyable afternoon.
I recommend this game!
