Desperate to find a way to medically remedy the horrendous stigmata and nightmares, Anna Stewart begins to look for the reason for her childhood suffering, which she knows nothing about (Diagnosis Unknown)! Her way lies through a small town from where she got to the asylum. Up to this moment all her memories were as though wrapped in a white shroud. What happened to Anna in her early childhood? How will she cope with what she releases from the chambers of her past? This SE adventure takes around 4 hours to find out but it's well worth your time and money, or at least use a game coupon. I recommend this homage to old school HOPA. Cheers!

What an exciting adventure to celebrate Halloween. The best party of the year is happening at Mrs. Blackwell's house or is it? What begins with a party invitation soon turns into a web of deceit. When orphans Jane Stone and Joe Benson arrive at the party Mrs. Blackwell and her ghoulish "beyonder" side kick kidnaps Joe and locks him in the bedroom. Seems Mrs. Blackwell promised Joe that if helped you (Jane Stone) get to the party, she would tell him who his birth parents are. Jane is part of an order called "seers" as were her parents. The "seers" devised a magic seal to prevent "beyonders" from reaching our world. There's only one problem, the magic seal can be reversed once a year and the "beyonders" have figured out a way to remove it! Now it's up to you Jane to figure out how to stop Mrs. Blackwell, save Joe and use your magic to save the day and escape Blackwell's dastardly plans. This tumultuous task will definitely be one party-goers will engage in and Elephant games have made it spooktacular!!! The heart-pounding music and the creepy ambient sounds also help increase the suspense of the game. Most of the HOP's offer a small interactive puzzle to solve. Don't forgot to look for the Morphing Object in each scene. More than worthy of a 5 star rating and a must-buy for me. Happy Halloween gamers!!!

When this adventure began in 2014 I had high hopes for series. The Lost Lands saga continues with this latest sequel with Susan the warmaiden in an epic episode. Join Susan, Maaron the Mage, and Folkner the dwarf on her quest to find both of the TARSAS (stone giants created by the mages fro the order of madmen). Each TARSAS were created; one for frost and one for fire, balancing cold & heat in the Lost Lands. Help Susan on her journey to find the (2) two horns to wake the TARSAS. Certain sacrifices have to be made in order to do this and return to the museum in time to save the day. The 17 cut-scenes in Lost Lands are top-notch with awesome animations and actions accompanied by epic music and perfect voice overs. The artwork is nothing but stunning, the use of lightning and colors are very clever, thus, all the scenes look glorious! The storyline is incredible and casual gamers are in store for an emotional ending. All the other necessary features are there, 3 difficulties plus a custom mode even if the game does not say so, an interactive jump-map, achievements and various collectibles. For the Collector’s Edition, all the usual gallery items are included as well as re-playable Mini-Games and bonus jigsaw puzzles – the bonus chapter is up to the standard despite the fact that it is a tiny bit too short. Kudos to Five-BN and Bigfish for this stellar series!!! I recommend this ENTIRE SERIES. Cheers!

Diana is a young apprentice when she receives a letter from your father asking you to return to your hometown to help him with his groundbreaking discovery. Once she arrives at her hometown, however, she discovers the town up in flames and its citizens scattered. Help Diana find the Wise Dragon, rescue your father, and put a stop to all this madness! Despite the cliché storyline, Midnight Calling: Wise Dragon feels like a breath of fresh air. For once, Big Fish offers a fantasy adventure without sinister undertones. Yes, the main plot of the game is to stop a villain’s evil plan. Still, the game steers away from spirits, ghosts, and horror elements and includes imaginative creatures like dragons, fairies, and other mythical characters. It also helps that the visuals in Midnight Calling: Wise Dragon are spectacular. The artwork is incredibly detailed and brightly painted with such grace and sophistication. The characters can seem a little cartoonish, but they fit well with the overall art direction of the game so that they do not feel out of place. In addition, the game is accompanied with beautifully-composed soundtracks and some enchanting sound effects. Gameplay wise, Midnight Calling: Wise Dragon is not as strong. The gameplay features countless emblems, keys and artifacts, all of which have predictable functions. The hidden object scenes attempt at being innovative, but never quite get there. Moreover, our Raccoon helper is cute and all, but can sometimes be gimmicky and annoying. Fortunately, the puzzles are more complex – otherwise, this might have been one of the easiest HOPAs I have played as of late. I blasted through the whole duration of Midnight Calling: Wise Dragon without once resorting to the Hint button or the strategy guide, and that only took three hours. Regardless of its relatively short length, the Collector’s Edition(which I recommend) is packed with extras; a bonus chapter, a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, a secret room, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects. I am partial to this edition but recommend all Midnight Calling Series.

Two leading developers in the realm of HOPA games, Brave Giant and Artifex Mundi, have joined to create a new fantasy adventure. But before you sigh with frustration at the thought of yet another fantasy series, be assured that Tiny Tales is a fantasy HOPA like no other. There are no fairies or evil witches, but rather, giant animals and talking furry friends. Follow Max, a miniature-size human, who lives in the tiny kingdom among the mice as he navigates through an archery competition on his way to save the world! At first, I was skeptical of Tiny Tales: Heart of the Forest so I waited for the SE version. Even though the premise of the game sounded refreshing and exciting, I was worried that the game would turn out to be too cheesy for my taste. To my surprise, Tiny Tales remains unbelievably cute, while does not venture too far in the cheese zone. The storytelling in the game is also on-point, with just enough characters to keep me engaged, but not feel overwhelmed. The unexpected complexity of the gameplay is another pleasant surprise in Tiny Tales: Heart of the Forest. The main portion of the gameplay does not necessarily break the traditional mold, but the challenge that comes with it is definitely more than welcomed. Moreover, the hidden object scenes and the puzzles are well-executed – they offer enough variety and creativity that always leave us wanting more. Apparently, Max is also equipped with the power to use all sorts of magical spells. These spells are useful and can be unlocked through the Spell Book, an example of an extra feature that is effective and does not feel too “extra”. Like all the game from Artifex Mundi and Brave Giant, Tiny Tales: Heart of the Forest offers satisfying sights and sounds. The artwork is imaginative, vibrant, and precise. The quality of the graphics is second-to-none. The soundtracks are appropriate and epic, without being overbearing. The voice-acting represents the characters extremely well. Tiny Tales is basically faultless when it comes to its production. Like other reviewers, I too am anxious to see this game become a series like "Ghost Files, Queen's Quest, and Demon Hunter" just to name a few. Cheers!

Located on the outskirts of a small town at the end of a winding path, the Katz property had been designed by Wilhelm Katz to house steam powered machinery to manufacture small boiler units to drive all types of transportation. Adding a decorative appearance to the factory was an assortment of bronze farm animals. The mansion part of the structure was added later and was lavishly decorated with ornate woodwork, fine art and impressive furniture. With his vivid imagination, Wilhelm was able to design and create a mechanical flying pig as a present for his daughter Victoria’s second birthday. She was so proud of her present that she showed it to everybody and soon orders flowed in for this magnificent toy. Soon the factory was making all kinds of mechanical funny beasts. On the death of Wilhelm, control of the home and factory passed to Victoria who continued to expand the structure with more rooms and facilities. At first the factory continued to prosper. Gradually though, things began to go wrong. You are then called in to help Otto, the plant manager, sort out these problems and help in the organization of a grand banquet that Victoria was planning to hold. Options are available to make adjustments to the game playing environment and create profiles for individual players. You can adjust the volume levels for music, environment and sound effects plus play with a hardware cursor. Apart from the introductory sequence that features spoken and scrolling text, all the other dialogue in the game is of the printed variety. Further options allow you to enable a penalty for mis-clicking when searching for objects and the fast-charging of hints. There is a choice of two levels of difficulty. Easy level will not penalize the player for any mis-clicking and has a faster recharging of the Hint feature. Normal mode does instigate a penalty for mis-clicking and has a slower rate when charging the Hint feature. Running across the full screen view of the various locations are the tools available to the user. Perched on the left are links to the game’s main menu and a Logbook that automatically reveals interesting background information regarding the storyline. Situated on the right are a map, which can be used to instantly return to a previously visited scene, a musical box hint feature, acting like a Geiger counter as it plays faster the nearer it comes into contact with a desired object, and a Continue button that will glitter when it is available to take you to the next location. Positioned in the central area of the tool bar is the name plate of the current location. The name plate doubles as your inventory storing the items you have collected or are awarded. It will automatically switch between its two modes when the appropriate occasion occurs. Although you do need to move between areas of the factory and domicile locations, your freedom of movement does tend to be limited. Arrows will appear indicating possible directions while an outbreak of glitter will indicate the optimum choice. As mentioned you also can use the map feature which uses layers to represent the various levels of the building. Hidden Object game play, as you might expect, is heavily featured. You will be presented with a list of objects to find within a scene. Often the scenes are intricate and decorative while you will be asked to find small objects. Sometimes you will need to find a specified number of a single small object, such as a bunch of keys, spiders or bees, within a scene. On other occasions you will get a text list, with additional items appearing as others are found, or images of objects concealed within a scene. In some cases the scene will spread over more than a single room or require you to work through several layers in order to find all the objects. At the conclusion of each Hidden Object session, a Performance report will appear, often following a delay that may make you think the game has hung, showing the number of objects found and the time taken. Sometimes a Hidden Object session will be followed by a puzzle. You may be asked to place the found items in their correct locations as part of a mechanism. Other types of puzzles included linking elements or moving objects around. You also need to be on the look out for hidden flying pigs. All the pigs will need to be found to complete the game. This SE is sure to bring hours of entertainment. This game gets a 4 star rating because It also relied too much of finding rather small items that were extremely difficult to find even with the Geiger counter Hint feature. Cheers!

Once again play the role of Emma Roberts( Paranormal Journalist) as Editor Anthony Williams asks you to investigate a cursed Hotel/Spa construction site of the Alaskan mountains in the town of Whitewall. Construction of the resort began the first week of October when weird things started happening and by November workers on the site saw a Ghost girl and refused to continue the project. At the construction site you pick up your suitcase which contains a copy of Fear For Sale magazine "Hidden in the Darkness" a cursed watch and a journal that belongs to a man named Norman Grady. Norman was a gold miner for the mining town of Whitefall. While looking for gold in Whitefall he fell in love with a girl named Olivia Rice and subsequently proposed to her as you learn from reading his journal he wrote in 1912. Your adventure continues once you board the Alaskan cableway car which takes you back in time to 1912 when the small town of Whitefall burned completely to the ground. When exiting the cableway you meet Norman, who has fallen into an opening in the earth beneath the mine shafts. You rush to attempt to save Norman but that leads you to the jail of Whitefall where the deputy sheriff tells you there has been a murder recently and the town is closed. He directs you to see Sheriff Dan Rice who is Olivia Rice's father. Dan Rice never approved of Norman and daughter Olivia getting married, he doesn't give consent so Olivia refuses Norman's proposal. In fact Dan suspect's Norman of the recent murder and entices the township to a jury trial. A quick stop at the dressmaker gives you an opportunity to change your modern day clothing into bounty hunter attire which is suitable for 1912. This way you can enter the town unnoticed to learn more about Norman's trial. The township convicts Norman of Olivia's death, but you are convinced he's innocent. You proceed to break Norman out of jail by setting off a GREEN GAS EXPLOSION to distract Sheriff Rice and the township but in doing so you create a fire that you quickly find a way to extinguish. When the fire dies away the Deputy Sheriff enters the jail, announces that Olivia Rice's body has been found and he arrests YOU for her murder and locks you in jail. After freeing yourself at the jail you find yet another journal, this one belongs to Joanna Chaney. Her husband Tobias is a close friend of Sheriff Dan Rice. Seems that Joanna kidnapped Olivia when she was a baby but she didn't murder her and neither did Tobias. Find the secret passage way Joanna speaks of in HER diary and escape the jail. Hurry Emma because you can't leave Whitefall until the curse is lifted. The deceased people of Whitfall live the same day over & over again. In the morning no one remembers what occurred the day before except you, because you never died. You must stay ALIVE Emma and figure out this conundrum!!!
Issue eleven takes about four (4) hours to complete and another 50 minutes with the bonus chapter. Elefun games did an amazing job with the storyline but the CE bling isn't worth mentioning. This game is not as ‘fearful’ as the title promises; still, the story alone is fantastic enough to make us look pass that fact. The graphics are on the same level from what we expected from a leading HOPA development team. The colors are vibrant and the details are vivid, the locations ominously portrayed the era and the animations are acceptably smooth. Moreover, the soundtracks are great, they really add some suspense to the game. I've been a fan of this series since it was conceived in 2010. This one was a definite purchase for me. Cheers!

It’s your wedding day and your wife, Sybil, has just received a beautiful portrait of herself from an unknown sender. But before you managed to celebrate the occasion with your beloved, the portrait unleashed a mysterious energy that turned Sybil into a beast! Play as both Nigel and Sybil and put an end to this insanity…This installment of the Dark Romance series suffered from slow-paced story development in this latest sequel. Casual gamers will still enjoy the concept of playing through two different perspectives, I wish the game could have picked up its pace a little. As for now, The Monster Within features a recycled storyline and predictable development, and is full of HOPA clichés. The gameplay also does not stray far from the traditional HOPA mold. The hidden object scenes are fairly enjoyable, but they are not the best. The majority of them are standard lists or silhouettes, with a few slightly more creative progressive types. None of them is particularly challenging, although the Match-3 alternatives provide a nice switch-up of pace. Similarly, the puzzles are not outstanding. Some of them are cleverly tied into the storyline, but do not offer any real challenge or complexity. If all else fails, at least Dark Romance: The Monster Within is a visually-pleasing game. The moody and haunting visuals are suitable for the dark fantasy theme of the game. However, the visuals are not without flaws. If you are a big fan of the HOPA genre, then you would have noticed the tendency that the developer relates the color green to anything sinister – The Monster Within takes that to another level. An overwhelming amount of visual effects in the game are of the green hue, to the point that make every scene of the game looks sort of the same. Dark Romance: The Monster Within takes just under four hours to complete. I remain a fan of this popular series, maybe Domini will raise the bar with the next game. Cheers!
I don't recommend this game.

They keep spinning out new sequels and producing series, all of which are excellent in quality and impossibly captivating. In this first Donna Brave game, the Golden Circle (an exclusive club in which your uncle is a part of) is under attack from the “Strangler”. The members of the Golden Circle are being murdered one by one, can you save your uncle Andrea before he reaches the same fate as his friends? It is worth noting that Donna Brave’s storytelling is impeccable. The game grabs your attention right away with its cinematic opening sequence and never lets go. The unraveling of the plot is done in such a sophisticated fashion that always makes you want to know more, the fast-paced nature of the storyline is extremely engaging, and the characters are distinctive and memorable. The art style of Donna Brave: And the Strangler of Paris perfectly captures the art deco era of 1920s Paris. Each location is packed with exquisite details and astonishing colors, not a single scene in this game is not wallpaper-worthy. The audio also plays an important part in this game. The beautifully-composed soundtracks are fitting for the theme of the game. Moreover, the voice-overs come with near-perfect lip-syncing and are appropriate for the characters. Donna Brave: And the Strangler of Paris even excels in the gameplay department. Nowadays, the market is cluttered with cookie-cutter adventures, it is refreshing to see a game that attempts to break the mold. Donna Brave does not exactly do anything revolutionary, but it is evident through its gameplay that a lot of brainstorming occurred during the development process. Donna Brave involves an unusually high amount of multi-level tasks and interactive inventory items. Thus, this is guaranteed to be a challenging game, even for advanced HOPA players. The hidden object scenes are equally creative and are all very entertaining. I feel like the puzzles could have been more unique, but I appreciate the integration into the storyline. Donna Brave: And the Strangler of Paris offers around four hours of fun in the game for casual gamers. This new series is definitely worthy of purchase or use of game credit.

Time to join Inspector Lestrade on another case in the continuing saga of Grim Façade. After learning of Amanda Aquille's mysterious illness your investigation leads you to Amanda's mother...Madam Aquille. When you question her she tells you that her daughter died six (6) months ago and because her husband Mr. Aquille loses the family estate in a card game gambling, there was no money to cure her illness or pay for her funeral expenses. Madam Aquille seeks comfort in a hallucinogenic herbal tea and the storyline becomes more bizarre. Murders continue to occur, leaving characters baffled. Only when you save Dr. Fancisco Crioni (the money lender who treated Amanda) do you suspect their may be more than just a ghost murdering people for jewelry and money. The cast of characters are as follows:
◾ Inspector Lestrade, the Inspector who hired the Detective to investigate the truth behind the numerous cases of the Ghost Bride. He becomes one her victims but not before asking the Detective to protect the town in his place and find out the Ghost Bride's true identity.
◾ Amanda Aquille, the young woman from the once distinguished Aquille Family who passed away before her wedding six month shortly before the story and the rumored Ghost Bride. It seems that her unrest spirit is fixed on taking revenge on those who brought miseries to her family and recovering her dowry.
◾ Madame Aquille, the mother of Amanda and the wife of Seignior Aquille who committed suicide due to his gambling debt. Madame Aquille was forced to put the rest of her family's treasures on auction to pay for her daughter's treatment and funeral shortly before the story. The police's investigations left her with bitter feeling.
◾ The Undertaker, a man who worked at the town cemetery. He is attacked by the Ghost Bride's ice magic but saved by the Detective. Madame Aquille gave him the family's golden watch in exchange for him giving Amanda a proper funeral.
◾ The Doctor, the doctor who treated Amanda before she passed away. He refused to order a medicine that could've saved her due to its expensiveness and that Madame Aquille was unable to paid for it. He becomes one of the Ghost Bride' murdered victims.
◾ The Ghost Bride, the antagonist of this game who is believed to be the ghost of Amanda Aquille. She displays supernatural powers such as passing through solid gates and doors as well as fighting with cryokinesis and ice shuriken. Her skeletal body is corporeal and she is also capable of shedding blood.
◾ Martizez the creepy cast who is a standard character in Grim Façade series. I recommend all the Grim Façade games. Cheers!
