Elephant games releases an awesome sci-fi mystery in their latest installment "Project Dawn". What begins with the abduction of your daughter Maya after Jennifer Palmer wrecks her RV on the way home soon turns into an adventure you will never forget. Why does the Military have the entire town of Gray Falls on lock-down? Who is this mysterious Darren Soul? This is so obscure and wonderful, I can't describe it any better than other rave reviews. This Elephant game was challenging for me but you have to play this to experience it. I don't know how in the world they conceived this one! It's a mind melter for sure. When you learn of the horrific experiments that are taking place at the Gray Falls Research Center you're transported into the nightmares of everyone involved with the project. Surface 11: Project Dawn is a fabulous entry into the long-standing Surface franchise. The game is as close to complete as it gets. Fans will be thrilled, and newcomers entertained. This is a hidden object game everyone should play. While it is always hard to innovate the standard HOG formula, Surface 11 does a good job of keeping things interesting. The game is refreshingly non-linear, keeping every environment relevant throughout the storyline, and forcing you to think on your toes. You will need to retrace your steps regularly, and use your brain. No click-mashing here. The mini-games are also spot on. While many of them are simple remakes of the standard puzzles you find in other hidden object games. This edition manages to keep things fresh and puts interesting twists on all of them. Once again, these mini-games will force you to think on your toes, instead of making you feel like you have played them in a hundred HOGs before. Fans and newcomers to the Surface series will have a hard time turning the game off. The music is invigorating, the gameplay is challenging, and the visuals hit the mark. I remain a fan of all the Surface Series. Cheers!

Mystery Case Files: The Revenant's Hunt is a casual puzzle game with hidden object gameplay mechanics, in which you play the role of a supernatural investigator and travel to America in order to tackle a curious case. Since the game follows the usual standards set by the genre, the MCF fans should feel right at home from the beginning, while beginners can use the tutorial to get the hang of things in a matter of minutes. There are thousands of monster stories all over the world, regarding everything from dragons, to ghosts and vampires. Some apparitions appear more common in certain parts of the globe, but there’s definitely no safe place if you are willing to believe such legends. Naturally, the subject is much safer and more approachable in the world of video games, given the fact that you are never really at risk. The story starts with the main character setting off to America, or more exactly to the town of Avondel. Here, you realize that a menacing monster is terrorizing the locals, and things get pretty hairy as soon you step into town. Hence, you have to track the beast to the best of your abilities, as well as prevent it from making more victims in the future. In regards to the visual presentation, Mystery Case Files: The Revenant's Hunt is as pretty as the old technology used to develop it allows. Granted, the hand-drawn environments are definitely detailed and colorful, while also requiring very few system resources. In addition, the game features full voice acting for every dialog sequences, which is better than average and always nice to have. When it’s all said and done, Mystery Case Files: The Revenant's Hunt is clearly a bit more polished than your average HOPA, especially in terms of puzzles and the graphics. However, it’s just as approachable as any game in the genre, so anyone can have a blast with it. The puzzles were somewhat tedious (some players may just skip them) but referencing the strategy guide helps. IMHO this is one of the better MCF installments that casual gamer's of every level can enjoy. Cheers!
This Collector's Edition has 9 Movie Videos, 8 Wallpapers, Artwork, Case Report Files, Pieces of Alvin's Letter in the HOP's, 9 Music Videos, 14 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 14 re-playable Mini Games, 20 Achievements to earn, 9 Collectible Lore Cards, 16 Morphing Objects, 10 Piles of Leaves to kick, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter!

Once in a full moon an outstanding Murder Mystery is offered on Big Fish. Daily Magic has delivered the second chapter in the Harrowed Halls scary hidden object series. Another installment of the new series which is truly outstanding that provides casual gamers with a perplexing suspense thriller that fans of the genre will definitely want to add to their collection. It begins in 1980 when Dana and Rick (brother and sister) are kids playing with a soccer ball that gets thrown into the old abandoned Wantley family house on 23 Maple Street in Portland Orgegon. Little do they know about the secrets hidden within the rooms of the Harrowed Halls...but Rick is about to find out and SOON. Fast forward to 1991 when Rick receives a cell phone call from his niece May informing him that his sister Dana is in the hospital suffering from a mysterious illness. The same illness which claimed the life of Dana and Rick's mother. When you arrive at the hospital Dana regains consciousness briefly from her coma to tell you that "Blood is calling" from the old Wantley Family estate. Your only clue is her mumbling about the abandoned estate that you explored as children. With Dana incapacitated it's clear that Rick (being the other half of the equation) must investigate what's happening at the Wantley estate for the sake of his sister and for his own closure on this childhood trauma. When you arrive at Whantley house you learn immediately that the entire Whantley family was murdered! But WHY? Clues about the murders eventually come to light as you make your way thru the horrific rooms of Harrowed Halls. Clues that can save your sister. The sub-plot of the story reveals the poisoning of twin brothers Arlow & Arnot Whantley and an affair with an instructor at the local Portland University. When May shows up at Whantley estate you must act quick to save her too! The storyline itself is so incredibly entangled as it progresses that you won't be able to stop playing once you begin. Daily Magic developers have created a captivating and engaging horror story that truly evolves into an enigma so suspenseful and thrilling you'll enjoy every moment until the terrifying conclusion. The end of the adventure will surprise fans of the genre after devoting roughly 6 hours of intense gameplay and you definitely get your monies worth. This superb adventure ranks among "The Best Game of The Year" and you don't want to miss this original and unique new series.....Cheers!

You and your photographer arrived at the Kilbourn Observatory to work on a new piece for Fright Chasers, a paranormal journal. The trip quickly turns into a horror show when your friend is kidnapped by otherworldly force and you spot sightings of the late Anne Kilbour. Is your mind playing tricks on you or is the observatory really haunted? I had high expectations for Fright Chasers. As we all know, Mad Head Games is a HOPA mastermind and each of their new series has been stellar so far. While Fright Chasers is still an extremely solid offering, it does not live up to Mad Head’s usual sky-high standards. First of all, the storyline is full of overused clichés, even the supposed “twists”don’t even feel surprising. Nonetheless, Mad Head still finds ways to keep things fresh and engaging by incorporating the storytelling into the mini-games. For a game titled Fright Chasers, there is very little “fright” to go around. Sure, there are sprinkles of horror elements here and there, but they are hardly any frightening. The gameplay in Fright Chasers: Dark Exposure is a little simpler than what I am used to from Mad Head Games. The game is well-made all-around, although it could have been more complex. The hidden object scenes are creative, but objects are too easy to find. Similarly, the mini-games often have low challenge level and some of them are a tad tedious. The Spirit Camera is a nice extra feature that enhances the experience – the camera allows you to reveal supernatural elements through mini hidden object puzzles. If there is one department that Fright Chasers: Dark Exposure absolutely excels in, that would be the production. The high-quality graphics are complemented wonderful visual effects and terrific scene designs. Moreover, the excellent background music rises and falls where it needs to be and the voice-overs are mostly flawless. I played the CE version of this game and the main game of Fright Chasers: Dark Exposure has a typical length of around four hours and the bonus chapter comes in at around the hour mark. The Collector’s Edition includes the typical bling. You'll enjoy this new series without the bonus chapter too. I enjoyed Fright Chasers but there are two other games in the BFG catalog worth checking out that are more frightening and challenging. TRUE FEAR: FORSAKEN SOULS CE AND FRIGHT CE. Demo this new series for yourself it worth a game coupon. Cheers!

Travel back in time to Paris in the 1800s, when the traveling circus industry was thriving. A series of young men have been found blind and paralyzed and all of them seem to have been associated with Adalinda, the star of Chimera Magic – the famous traveling circus. You have been called in to investigate this strange case. Can you solve the puzzle or would you too fall for Adalinda’s deadly charm? I remembered being blown away by the first Chimeras game – the originality and the entertainment value of that game were top shelf. Unfortunately, the series seemed to have experienced a decline from then on until this edition. Chimeras: Blinding Love is the latest installment in this series and for once, a quality addition. The plot of this game is not revolutionary by any means, but it is engaging all the same. Moreover, the characters are memorable and the story progression is perfectly-paced. The sights and sounds in Chimeras: Blinding Love are up to Elephant Games’ usual industry-leading standard. The computer-generated graphics look stunning and the animations are as smooth as ever. The background music varies in intensity throughout the game in relation to the events happening in the game. The music and the voice-overs are both solid and never feel out of place. Gameplay wise, Chimeras: Blinding Love does everything right. The adventure part of the game is satisfyingly fast-paced and extremely enjoyable, the hidden object scenes are beautifully-crafted, and the puzzles are creative enough to maintain our interests. However, Chimeras: Blinding Love does not venture outside of the safe space. As fun as they are, the hidden object scenes and the puzzles would benefit greatly from some risk-taking and more challenges. For me, the main game of Chimeras: Blinding Love came in slightly short at three and a half hours, while the bonus chapter made up with its 70 minutes length. The Collector’s Edition is packed with a plethora of extras; wallpapers, concept art, screensavers, a strategy guide, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, and a secret room. I appreciate the originality and the quality that went into the development of this continuing saga. I hope Elephant continues this trend for fans and new comers too. Cheers!

Wow! 4Friends has another incredible edition to the Living Legends franchise. You are Kate Petite, an invited guest on your way to a beautiful wedding in a castle on a mountaintop. Unfortunately, you’re running behind, but it works in your favor! As you make your way to see your cousin, the groom, you suspect something is amiss, and begin to find clues that confirm your suspicions. All is not what it seems: Beware! In this editor's choice edition an air of mystery begins to unfold before you even get to take the transport to the castle. You begin to suspect that some monkey business is going on. Clues lead you to believe that danger lurks close by. Guests are disappearing and the castle is wrought with peril. You run across a character wielding a crossbow and he fills you in on what’s going on: There’s a monster in the castle and he’s holding everyone hostage. You feel like saying, “So…there’s not going to be a wedding…?” but you decide that the hunter with eyes ablaze probably wouldn’t appreciate it. So you decide to assist him and figure out how to defeat the beast and get the castle and hostages back. And by the way, where is your cousin? The graphics in Living Legends: Uninvited Guests are lovely. A majestic castle is set upon a mountaintop while a waterfall cascades down the side into a river. Details like glowing eyes, mist, and smoke all add to the wonderful effects. It’s these minute details that pull you in – the scars on the face of the hunter, etching in the leather arm bands, grooves in the horns of the beast, and more. Each scene is filled with rich colors, either muted or bright, depending on the lighting. The ambiance is beautiful – you feel as though you’ve stepped into a fairytale. Flowing capes, velvet jackets, leather wristbands, cloth-draped tents all are reminiscent of a renaissance setting. Add a few roses, a talking mirror, and a ferocious creature in the castle and suddenly you feel a little like you’ve been transported to a scene from “Beauty and the Beast.” Although this seems to be a little darker and the tale is spun differently, it still feels like you’ve stepped into a mythological story – and you are the heroine that needs to save the day before it’s too late. Dramatic music – somewhat similar to the “Mission Impossible” theme plays softly in the background. While soothing, it also has that beat that lets you know you really need to keep moving. There are plenty of hidden objects in Living Legends: Uninvited Guests, and a whole lot to find and redeposit before you can even step foot in the castle. That’s OK – you get to step inside a mysterious tent and meet one of the characters anyway. You’ll need some help – along with a talking mirror – to make your way to face the dangerous castle, fantastical creatures, and mysterious beast that’s behind it all. There’s also a few cute squirrels on your side, there to help you out. Things are ready to stop you, so those hidden objects are important to find to perhaps open a door or arm yourself. Different creatures roam about and sometimes things animate – so watch out! Find a morphing object in each scene – it’s easy to forget with all that’s going on. You’ll also need to collect owls as part of your mission – each time you happen upon a new scene, the indicator to the left of the screen will let you know how many are there. Living Legends: Uninvited Guests is a great hidden objects game filled with mystery. It’s a beautifully crafted game with gorgeous settings and detail. Get lost in this fairytale by becoming the hero and saving the day!!! Cheers

I used to be such big fans of the Myths of the World; thus, I had high expectations for this new installment. Unfortunately, I was left with nothing but disappointment by the end of this game. In fact, this game was such a snooze-fest to us that I did not care to even try to properly follow the plot. The storyline develops at a snail pace, the characters lack motivation and depth, and the whole theme of the game just turns out to be very dull. The fact that the production in this game is one of Eipix’s worst also does more harm than good to the already-abysmal game. The graphics are sparse and lack the amount of details Eipix usually excels at. Shifting the focus to the audio side, things seem to fair a little better. The game keeps its background music to a minimal, which is certainly not a bad thing – but considering how boring the game is, a louder music might be more appropriate. As for the voice-overs, they are professionally done, nothing outstanding. Sadly, Myths of the World: Bound by the Stone is no place for creativity either. As an avid HOPA fan, I found the adventure part of the game to be very tedious, pointless, and again, boring. There is nothing in the game that I have not seen before. It may be time to retire this series. Cheers!

Domini Games presents the next exhilarating chapter in their classic Dark Romance series! In this installment you once again get to play dual roles as Romeo and Juliet. The story begins with a back story of how Juliet's mother Alberta dies during the birth of her daughter Juliet. It's an emotional beginning to this adaptation of the classic tale and I really didn't know if I wanted to pursue this avenue on this particular adventure. My trajectory soon changed as I continued with the narrative of plot and I am so glad it did. When you progress with the game and learn Romeo and Juliet survive their families' feud and pledge to get married, a ghost from the Capulets' past surfaces and wants to make sure the feud never ends and the Capulets are destroyed! Juliet's father locks her in a room within the castle determined never to let her see Romeo again but protecting her from a gastly ghost named Gaspar may be the greater motive. There seems to be a Dark Romance that occurred with Alberta and Gaspar decades earlier and the only person who knows the true secrets of this affair is Aunt Lucretia. Her knowledge is ultimately key in defeating Gaspar's dastardly desire to destroy the Capulet family. Will you be able to reach her in time? Play dual roles of Juliet and Romeo with unbelievable challenges via puzzles and hidden object scenes to find out. It's an engaging mystery that pulls you in to help them find a happy ending, or else they're doomed to forever be star-crossed lovers.
The graphics in this edition could have been executed better in order to lessen the almost cartoon effect, but if you over look that minor detail, the gameplay is extremely entertaining. Moreover, all sorts of other obstacles stand in your way, and it’s important to deal with all of them. The story is full of unique characters with excellent voice acting and human emotion. I haven't played such an intense HOPA in a very long time perhaps the best yet in 2017. Definitely one CE you have to have in your collection. Cheers!
