This is a cute cartoonish game. There is a lot of dialogue, and I do mean a lot!!!. You basically are going back and forth between places finding objects... over and over and over again. It could have been a wonderful game with some tweaking, but it was just too repetitive for me. The objects to be found were extremely small. Even though the scenes were bright, it's very hard to see, say, 5 mousetraps in a room. There was a hint button to help out and I found I was using it just to push the game along, I was so bored of the repetition. I wouldn't recommend this game.
I loved this game. For a SE... well worth the price as a SG is included. Being new to this genre, I did need to consult it a few times to stay on track. There are lots and lots of room at the Chestnut Lodge !!! Hidden Object scenes were fairly easy. Puzzles were intermediate. A lot, and I do mean a lot, of running around. Morphing objects, sometimes very difficult to notice. Achievements. All in all a nice, spooky game. It's a buy for me !!
I am a beginner to HOPA games, thus my review is based on a beginner to these types of stories. 2 kids inherit the family mansion. When they get there to meet the realtor, the realtor is gone (gasp). You must save your brother who was knocked unconscious while ringing the doorbell. There are 2 modes, regular and challenging. I played in regular. There are sparkles indicating hidden object scenes and scenes worth taking a look. The hidden object scenes are fairly straightforward and interactive. There is a useful journal and a task list which tells you what you should be doing next. Puzzles were fairly straightforward. The game was fairly linear in that I actually figured out what I was supposed to be doing (and that is a challenge in some of these games). I'm not sure yet if this is a buy for me, but I would definitely consider it.
There are so very few TM games, I went ahead and played the demo, then purchased. There are no dragons... even though the title implies dragons. The narrator stands right in the middle of the screen so it's impossible to see the screen until you press start. The graphics are, well, blahhhh. The movements of the characters are jerky and clumsy and the game is glitchy, sometimes getting stuck. Each "round" or level lasts about 2 minutes (or less) and half the time, I wasn't even sure what I was trying to accomplish by the time the level ended. I did try to like this game, if only because there are so few good TM games of late. However, it's disappointing. Challenge level was easy. Sound was off so I can't comment on that. Not even close to the quality and fun factor of games such as Roads of Rome or Island Tribe.
