The only reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 is because the directions on 3 of the puzzles were so vague as to be useless. After rereading the instructions, I still didn't know what the goal or how it worked and therefore had to skip them.
Omg, I was going to wait for the se and SO glad I didn't (and I hate spending the extra money). You have to think completely out of the box on this one. This is after 2 1/2 hours of game play. Wanted to call in sick to work so I could continue. The strategy guide came in handy a couple of times. Don't know yet if it is a good ce yet, obviously because I haven't gotten there, but I am not disappointed. The inventory is a little slow to pick up items, but so what? This game is GREAT. Best Ive seen in years. Btw, I own about 100 so that's saying something.
Sorry, there really isn't anything wrong with this game. Guess I've just outgrown goblins, etc. Forgot about the dragon and spent an hour trying to figure out where to find matches and the hint button kept showing me the same thing that I "did'nt" have an item for, i.e. the dragon. Have started and stopped and played a different game, so it isn't holding my interest.
I really like how this game goes off the "usual" same ol same ol. It gives you alot of variety and an interesting story. Had originally wanted to wait for the se but glad I got the ce instead.
I recommend this game!

Haunted Manor: Painted Beauties
A peaceful day at the park becomes a journey into the surreal when you become the latest victim of a troubled artist's deal with Death!
Excellent game. I had to comment on the map. For me, I really liked that it didn't tell you where to go, but showed you the picture of the room so you could remember what you might have seen there. Love that you have to collect beads to make the necklace not as an "extra" thing but to save yourself. I recommend this game wholeheartedly.
I'm only two hours into the game but had to stop to tell you it's AWESOME The hos are very clear and easy to see as well as integrated with the inventory list (I love those). Has a map and strategy guide, neither of which I have needed so far. The storyline is interesting and so far the puzzles are not the same ol same ol. My only criticism (not exclusive to this ce) Is that if you are going to have "achievements", they should be a real achievement, i.e. not something everyone can get because it is necessary to the game. .
While the game started out well and the story was good, there was no map (and LOTS of running around). The hint button was useless. You click on it and it will show you the door you are near and tell you need a key. REALLY? who'd of thought???? I practically read the strategy guide to get around. While the ce does have a VERY long chapter, you are inundated with hos every step and repetitive games. I finally had to stop for the cramping in my fingers for the rolling hos list. I was very disappointed as I had just finished the "mind" version of this game and really enjoyed it. I bought two more, hopefully the third isn't as annoying.
There are numerous different ways to solve the hos. A wide variety of different puzzles, some very challenging. Hint button works well as does skip since some puzzles after 20 minutes were. I am looking forward to seeing the other games with the same title.
The "story" really never made itself clear. The hos's were the kind that you just look at and find 90% of all objects just by clicking stuff that looks "out of place". The puzzles were the same three with different backgrounds and not the least bit challenging, except one. Has a ton of hos which I don't care for (rather have puzzles). The map wasn't interactive, but was informative. I was rather bored and just waiting to get it over with.
