I didn't like this game at all. Hints don't work, "go to the next location". No map and you're on your own to figure out what to do. Things are hidden too well and almost impossible to find so that you can progress through each site. I was bored an hour in and don't recommend this game at all. No excitement, nothing to inspire me to keep on playing. I think I made it halfway through and this was the first game that I deleted before I finished. Don't buy it.
I bought this game in CE version and loved it. The atmosphere, music and graphics are spooky and set the tone and the mood. It's a good long game and took me several hours of play over days to complete it. It's got a good mix of HOs and fragHOs and minis that aren't too difficult.
Agree with the others. Crane looks like Johnny Depp, which made it even more fun. Loved searching for the horseshoes and getting ready to play it again. I didn't find all of them the first time, not even close. Will have to look harder.
Another fabulous snowy winter game by Elephant. This one, to me, is the best of the four, even better than Raincliff. I have the CE and the whole game plus bonus was a good eight hours of play in hard level. I think I may have skipped two minis but was able to do all the rest easily. The graphics are incredible, no blurry scenes or items in HOs. Everything is crisp and spot on when you are hunting for items in "the snow".
The interactive map helped a lot and I rarely had to use the hints. There didn't seem to be a lot of "back and forthing", either. Most items were found within the same two or three connected scenes so I didn't have to backtrack much at all.
Enjoyed finding the morphing creatures and the poker chips. Not sure I found all the creatures but had fun on the search. I can't think of anything Elephant did wrong with this game, I just loved it.

Played and finished the SE. It starts off great, nice graphics, crazy story. I was already creeped out by the clown and hoped to see him often but he hardly appears at all. I still don't get "the point" of the game and it ended so abruptly and made no sense at all.
The game is very long and has a lot of twists and turns and hard minis (at least hard for me). I can't stand the minis where you have to keep clicking something repeatedly to move 4 blocks of an image at a time. You could either click forever or solve it in 2 seconds. I just tire of these puzzles and there are a lot of them in this game. I skipped almost all of them which is not fun, either.
There are no VOs and nothing but printed dialog where a character's lips move and music plays. Boring and not a good effect. The HOs were ok and most were too easy.
There's no map and about halfway through the game, I got completely lost. I can't stand constantly backtracking and looking for "something" when I don't know where to go next. All I did was use the hint button because the game was way too confusing for me to follow.
I don't recommend this game at all. It could have been so much better but I was very disappointed and won't be buying the sequel.
Very bad game and I'm giving it two stars only because the graphics are good. Thumbs down on all else.
This is my kind of game: stunning graphics and a nice map so I don't get lost. The minipuzzles were all do-able and the HOs were so much fun I managed to get other family members interested in gaming just by watching and helping me find things. I thoroughly enjoyed searching for the morphing objects and found all of them the first time I played the game.
I rate the quality of a game by how seldom I have to use the hint button and in this case, I hardly used it at all. The map was enough and the objects in inventory "made sense" for the tasks at hand.
Bravo to the developers. I've already started on the sequel "Palms of Zoroaster" and it's just as thrilling.
Wow! I loved this game. It's your basic HOG with a few very simple minis thrown in but the pace of it and the sinister creepy voice of the Headless Horseman gave me chills. It just creeped me out and is the perfect Halloween game.
Took me forever (10+ hours of play over several days) and I was shocked to find out there are 12 chapters so it goes on for hours and hours. I played this one at casual level with no timer because the HOs are extremely difficult. Use your hints sparingly because you don't have many available. The objects are very hard to find at times because they are so small and very cleverly hidden.
Some of these games have a bit of humor thrown in at points throughtout the game but this one does not. It's creepy and frightening all the way through and gives you the feeling that "someone is behind you watching". LOL!
At the end, it says it is to be continued. That was 4 years ago. Where's the sequel? I would buy it in heartbeat. This is one of my top 3 games of all time and one of my best daily deal purchases.
This game was really a lot of fun, harder than it looks. It was the perfect escape from dungeons and grainy-caves and evil demented doctors.
The minis were all do-able, the storyline was logical and the HOs were challenging and fun. This game wasn't depressing or grim in any way and I enjoyed every minute of it.
This game will appeal to anyone who loves romance and who dreams of the past. Great game, developers! Thanks BigFish for including this type of game in your inventory.
I would have given this SE 5 stars except for the relentless amount of clicks back and forth which ruined the game for me. It was insane. I don't like this much movement when searching for or using one inventory object.
There's no map so I got lost a lot. Couldn't remember where to use a certain object I just obtained. Wasted a lot of moves hunting for things. It's frustrating to be 8 clicks from where you need to be. Twice I had an object in inventory which didn't work in a scene initially but when I left and came back, it worked perfectly. Strange!
My only other complaint is that the graphics are a bit grainy and some HOs are hard to seek and find. Hint button helped.
I loved the storyline and hunting for the hidden cats. Never did find all 24 of them but I tried. All the minipuzzles were pretty easy and fun.
If you can handle the frustrations I've listed, then get this game. I don't think it's worth it but glad it was a bonus deal and not a major purchase.
Wonderful! I took a chance on this one, getting it as a buy one get one CE free game and man oh man did I luck out. This is a good long game, took me days to play a few hours here and a few more there.
Graphics are fantastic. The strategy guide was always there and I had to use it a little toward the end of the game. Plenty of great and fun minis, some original and some I've seen before. The HOS were a lot of fun and most were quite challenging.
I enjoyed visiting the very creepy locations like the camp kitchen and the infirmary, the maze and the swamp were beautifully drawn and fun to play in those areas. The storyline was well done and at the end of the bonus, everything made sense.
I will definitely purchase anything from the devs who created this game. Thanks, BF!
I was hooked from the start because of the graphics and the story. This game flows very well and is a great game for beginners because it's not very hard to figure out. The map made it easy, hints fast to recharge. I didn't use a walkthru once.
Only have the SE and from what I've read regarding the CE, I made the better purchase since the CE bonus game is so short.
HOS not too difficult but I prefer them harder than the minis. Minis weren't hard, either. The graphics were stunning and the spider games and "scenes" were different and made me laugh out loud.
I was intrigued with the hayfield scene and graphics. I love scarecrows and the devs did a great job with the graphics and colors. Wondering why someone hasn't created some great games with Halloween as a theme. Haunted scarecrows, evil pumpkins, something for adults. I know there is a child's game at BF with this theme but where are the Halloween games for us grownups? I'm just sayin'. :)
