My review based on demo, only: I love these Devs games, usually, but this one fell short, IMHO. Very drab colors, less-than-their-usual-standard graphic, and super easy puzzles...not to mention boring. I really disliked the "dance" puzzle! And another puzzle in which you turn circle to match up the lines...come on...super easy and simply a time suck.
Bright spots: the story line seemed decent enough, and, as I have a free game that I must "use or lose," I will cash it in on this game.....and hopefully it will pick up enough to hold my interest!
While I have only played the demo, I have already purchased the game. Madhead is one of my favorite Devs, and this game does not disappoint! It has exceptional graphics, and the story line is really good! With all the games on the market these days, coming up with unique puzzles and HOS has got to be difficult, but MH has accomplished it in this game. As always, try the demo for yourself.
Review based on (part of) the demo....(couldn't bring myself to even finish it!) This used to be a great game...but I'm finding that once I've played 25+ Elephant games, apparently I've played them all. The fun factor in this installment is consistent....Boring! Don't get me wrong....I used to love their games, but they haven't changed! It's starting to feel like Groundhog's Day! The graphics in this one are pretty bad. The voices are worse. The puzzles are the same they always use, as are the HOPs. MOs are okay. Collectibles are nothing special...and don't get me started on the story line, or that awful skull/voice/helper thing...one of the worst things in any game I have ever played...laughable, actually!! Is it possibly time to retire this series??
As always, please try the demo out for yourself! It is certainly not a purchase for me...not even in SE form.
Ho hum is right! Nowhere near as good as the last in the series. While the graphics are wonderful, and the HOS were decent enough (morphing objects were well done, I thought) the story line, puzzles, and challenge factor just didn't do it for me. I rate a game on whether I am anxious to get back to it, or not...this one is a "Not," unfortunately. I'll save my money and get the SE, probably.
I was really disappointed in this game! Maybe the series has run its course? I hope not, but these last 2 were not fun, for me. Graphics are so dark/dreary. I get that they are trying to set the atmosphere, but this was just depressing. We are too technologically advance for such poor clarity, also...."blurry" would be the word I use to describe graphics. ""Run here, place that"...that's basically what I did throughout my playing time. (I didn't even complete demo...although I was probably pretty close.) And they were basically the same items/tasks they used in the other 12 games in this series....boring. The devs couldn't come up with something new? There was an original HO puzzle...the one with the map of constellations...that was at least original. And of course, there's Elf... I have no opinion, one way or another on whether he adds or detracts from the game. I really don't see how they could continue the series without him, at this point. As always, try the demo out for yourself.
My review based on demo, only: I love these Devs games, usually, but this one fell short, IMHO. Very drab colors, less-than-their-usual-standard graphics, easy-to-spot collectibles, and super easy puzzles...not to mention boring. I really disliked the "dance" puzzle! And another puzzle in which you turn circle to match up the lines...come on...super easy/time suck. 3.5 stars is the best I can give it, and the .5 is in the hopes that it gets better. Even the morphing objects were easy to spot. Bright spot: the story line seemed decent enough. I will wait for the SE, and reconsider.
As always, Eipix has great graphics! The story fell a bit flat, for me....even lost the story line, at some point, and just played the game. I am not a fan of several of the puzzles. Just weren't fun, IMHO. The HOS were pretty good, but nothing exceptional there, either. The real downfall of this game, for me, was the serious lack of CE features...worthwhile features, anyway! The collectibles were laughable...very large dino silhouettes....couldn't possibly miss them. No morphs, or hidden anything else. I only played the demo, so hopefully it's a very long game, and has an extended bonus game to justify the price. I will purchase the SE when it comes out, btw...it's worth that price, in my opinion.
Review is based on demo, only: I was thrilled when the game began and I saw the wonderful graphics...I knew then that I was in for a treat! I wasn't let down, either. The Devs outdid themselves on this installment of Dark Realm. I don't give out 5-star reviews unless they realy earn them, and this game does, in my opinion. The HOS are varying in style, and there are several new types that really worked, IMHO. And I love the morphing objects within the HOS, because then I know where to look for them. The puzzles were also interesting enough that I worked them...and enjoyed doing so. This CE will definitely be a purchase for me...plenty of extras that make it worthwhile. The puzzle pieces (collectibles) leave something to be desired, I believe the might have even been an afterthought...?...but most were hidden well enough that they weren't too distracting. Overall, this game feels very "technologically forward," which I expect from devs, these days...glad to see they are doing such a nice job! :)
Review based on demo, only: As anyone who reads my reviews knows, I'm a huge fan of most Eipix games...but this one left me wanting more. No morphing objects, the graphics that this dev is known for were not quite up to par, and I ended the demo feeling as though they rushed this one. Having said all that, it is still a good game... much better than most being released these days! Just not up to their standards...and those are pretty high. The HOS were pretty good, as were most of the puzzles. The collectibles were not worth the extra money...I will wait for the SE. As always, try it out for yourself. I really did enjoy the story line, btw!
