One reviewer said this was a "game for kids" Since I never grew up it suits me fine! A Very Long game, with plenty of puzzles and HOS. There were no gimmicks, but the game itself was challenge enough, figuring out where I ought to go, and what to do. The scroll spells were a bit boring after the first two (I think there were about 1/2 dozen) The story line was sometimes vague, and I couldn't figure out why I was doing something. So that those things took off a star. BUT if it *was* an old game Artifax Mundi Games drew from the old files, it well deserves release:)

By way of "Tintinegras" (sp?) a small Brazilian village!
This is an awesome game. I totally loved the atmosphere of warm tropical nights, lush greenery and Portuguese culture, which we don't see nearly enough of. The characters were a hoot, straight out of a noir novel of the 50's!
I didn't find all the little extras the first time around, so I'm playing it again; no problem, it is still as good.
They play delightfully fun music during the HOS, laced with plenty of snarky comments if you are too slow for them! Made me laugh out loud! This was one game I loved the music and it was totally a perfect fit.
Very nice game, with good clear goals, likable protagonists, and subtle lessons;) This time around we are dealing with an Elven princess, a Druid and a Truce Keeper. Solid story and kept the focus. Particularly liked the villain, in the main game! (no more hints;)
Art was very accessible, colors clear and bright. The nature sounds in the background were very charming and heightened the atmosphere. I almost always skip the music; it is usually distracting, which it was in this case (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars) All in all a good successor to the Queens Quest series.

Beautiful graphics, and a good story about people who are likable and care for one another, puzzles that are interesting and not too hard! A good game for us "middles" (as opposed to "muggles") who are neither genius players nor really picky, but appreciate a good game with great artwork, story and doable puzzles. A caveat/warning here. In this game, if you click you miss information. When people are talking, or something is happening, just wait. It goes fast enough. Puzzles: I am basically a HOS/Adventure lover, but I liked and could do most of the puzzles in this game! Either I’m getting better or they’re getting better at explaining them, maybe a bit of both. Added to my fav Games List to replay. I’ll need to go back and play others in this series to see if they compare! At any rate, give this game a try, I found it excellent.
I enjoyed this game very much. It was a good balance between puzzles and hops, and a good adventure story.
Then why didn't I give it a 5 star rating? Because for some reason, this game would not play on my computer except in windowed mode. It was annoying and sloppy engine work. But because it was such a good game I'm still giving it 4 stars.
I liked the complicated relationship between me (Detective) and the freckled girl. Hope she shows up in future games! They seemed to hint at that. That's assuming they fix the glitch that only allows windowed mode!

I LOVED this little game. The artwork was stunning, and the whole atmosphere (New Orleans late 1800's) was spooky. The voodoo atmosphere felt authentic. You are a visitor and talk to the ghost of a young Voodoo practitioner. She is both good and bad, depending on how you look at it. You need to create spells by collecting things (mainly from HOS- hidden object scenes) but also from surrounding areas. Your "hand" is a little chicken foot!
There is no map, but once you get the carriage, there are hints in where he offers to take you. There is also a big pink HINT bottle in the lower right, that you can use; sometimes all you need is to read what hints it offers to know what to do next. The best thing to do is explore everything - twice or three times; sometimes hidden object scenes are activated after you complete a task. This is basically a hidden object game, although there are a few puzzles (sorting items according to a list, for example). I promise you this is well worth it. I wish it had come in a CE, but back in 2012 there weren't much in the way of extra's anyway. Try it out! I was hooked from the first chapter!
Good series with the guardians of magical antiques tracking a dangerous (and crazy) scientist who wants his invention back. NB: There are at least 3 objects to find in each scene: A puzzle piece (often found when clicking a close up) a morphing object, and a collectible. I got 33 of the 36 puzzle pieces, 25 of 31 morphing objects (I may have missed more of those early on) and 31 of 31 collectibles. Also, in this game it important NOT to click too quickly before you have a chance to read everything, and listen fully, otherwise it disappears and/or you lose what is said.I look forward to playing this again. I like these characters who like and respect each other. This is a great series I recommend!
An excellent mystery game from one of my favorite devs. Morph and collectible in every scene. Plot is pretty standard, but the attitude that “Detective Rick” who has a helpful attitude and is full of wisecracking quips, (as opposed to so many who go into shock, angst or whatever when they find paranormal events that they actually went looking for) adds a humorous tone which I really like and led to the title of this review: "Creepy Light".
The villain is pretty obvious from the get go, and she is truly an evil one. Poor ravens again get snagged for the job of evil rep.
The light tone and quickly moving game makes it seem shorter than it actually is. The h/o & morphs in each scene are represented by a little chalice on the map. As Penmom say,s it helps to study the scene and find the collectibles BEFORE scanning the mouse over the scene, as sometimes you will accidentally pass over them and the hand gives it away. (I do wish they had an option to use or not use the “clue hands” like they do if you don't want sparkles in a HOS.
The sequel involves his first “case” and is well done as well, with a connected story, but a totally new case.
This very likable game is Totally worth a CE price. I highly recommend this Elephant game! I'm looking forward to more in this series:)
PS I especially enjoyed the pachyderm puzzle with Elephant tooting it's own horn (or trunk maybe)!
I know this already has a solid 5 rating but I must add my 2 cents;)
This game presents another culture that I am, for the most part, ignorant of, and presented it in a very accessible manner.
But the best thing about this game is the reinventing of how HOS work. Sometimes you cannot finish a hos in the box, but have to go Outside The Box to complete it! Not everything is as it seems. There were so many discoveries I can't remember them all; what I do remember is NEVER being bored or thinking I had to repeat the same old sequences I've done in other HOGs.(Hidden Object Games) And the story is truly universal; about the love for a mother for her child. And it doesn't pull any punches, making the the mother or the child perfect.
Don't necessarily expect high reviews from folks who like puzzles more than hops: this game is truly for HOG lovers. The puzzles it did have, for me, were solvable, which probably means they weren't as difficult as some would like.
The art was painterly and filled with what looked to me like "Indian" art. (As I said, I'm no expert; wish players in India would chime in:) Get this game! If you are a HOG lover (that doesn't sound nice does it, but still...) you will love it!
An excellent "who dunnit", Lots of nice little twists. The morphs are tricky: some in the HOS’s and some scattered about. I found all but one of them, and got all but one of the owls. In the case of the owls, after you play the bonus game you can go back and find missed ones. But the morphs are a challenge! I found it chilling the amount of deaths of old friends, which are heroine didn't seem to be bothered by - that was pretty chilling in itself. Some of the horror isn't in the game but in the ideas behind it. The bonus is a fill in on how we were able to “solve” the mystery at all. Nicely done and I enjoyed this game:)
