Despite the title of this review, I did enjoy the game. I do have to complain about a few things. The H.E.L.P. H.Q. guy calls and speaks around 2 times, and then each time after that it's just text and no sound. I found that strange, though when it started it was in an office and trying to avoid detection/capture, so... yeah. Then there's a potential typo when they mention that the King of Spain was furious at the actions taken by the English. It stated that he was "outrageous", but shouldn't that be "outraged"? Plus, add in other little details, like our "helper" this game... I miss Sam. Though he left a note and leftover Chinese food in the trunk of our car, so it's like he never left.
The game sends you on a chase to locate the stolen artifact, battle against a rogue agent, and more. You discover more about H.E.L.P. and it's past/origins. You uncover and later discover the legend. Honestly, I enjoyed playing the game. This is one of my favorite series, though this game isn't in my Top 5 for it. It was still fun to play, so play it for yourself and see what you think.
I went into this game nearly blind on what to expect after what was available in the demo. The visual and sound quality are amazing, as in the other games. I kind of wish there was more Sam in this game, but hey, it doesn't take away from the game at all.
The game opens with a flashback to when the young of the "tribe" (young adults to children in age) were sent away while the older generation stayed behind. And then we immediately jump into a brief case of amnesia, remembering what happened/what we're doing, and getting back to the case. I'll admit that I went into this not trusting one and the other, but went to a "should I trust?" for one. That was thrown away in the end...
The cut scenes are lovely, especially when you went to find the Lost Paradise and traveled underwater. I guess that the "moral" of the game is that even if you have good intentions, that doesn't mean that you should.
As a fan of this series, I have to admit that this is a great addition! It's definitely worth a try/purchase. Give it a try and see what you think.
The game was fun to play, though I wish there was more. I know that there are other games in the series, so I hope one day that BFG will have them available on the website.
You play as a forensic investigator who is called in to locate missing children. The style of the game was wonderful, and I enjoyed playing as a member of a team. The partner was interesting.
It's definitely a winner. If you are interested in mystery games or similar concepts, this is a game you should play!
Nancy, as a reward, was booked for a vacation at the Ryokan Hiei in Misawa, Japan. She is also there as a student teacher, I believe, to help teach kids English. Almost immediately, as soon as she approaches the desk, it's made clear that she isn't welcome. From there, Nancy is determined to solve the mystery.
Over time, Nancy learns the truth of the Shimizu family's tragedy and the events surrounding the haunting of the ryokan. Add in some bonus points for spook factor, especially in two separate instances, and this game is wonderful. It is a fun game to play, and you get to learn more about Japan as you go.
Bess and George are also in Japan for a technology expo, but Nancy was unable to get a ticket in time and cannot enter the event. The most you see of those two are pictures sent to Nancy's phone from another character and phone calls. They do help Nancy with the mystery when they can, though Bess would love to avoid it and the ryokan altogether.
Overall, this is one of my favorite games in the series., if not the favorite. It has the option to not grade the homework for the students that she's teaching, but that doesn't take anything from the game. It's another winner!
Nancy is called in to find Jessalyn Thornton, and along the way she stumbles across another mystery in the Thornton family. Charlotte Thornton died mysteriously in a fire years ago, and it appears that her spirit is haunting Thornton Hall. Bonus points for the spook factor...
Honestly, this is one of my favorite games in the Nancy Drew series so far. The story of Charlotte and the Thorntons, the "hauntings", and more... wow! It's another winner!
Nancy and her team are competing in a local contest in their hometown of River Heights. Nancy follows a "lead" that leads her to Town Hall, where she is framed for arson. Nancy is later arrested and she, Bess, George, and Ned work to prove that she's innocent.
It's always fun to see the "innocent before proven guilty" phrase being thrown out the window when Nancy is framed. The town basically turns its back against Nancy until it's proven that she was innocent all along. You get to play, for a bit, as Ned, Bess, and George. You get to interrogate and explore, while finding clues to lead you to the true culprit.
The entire game is lovely, from the graphics to the voices and even the smallest details. It's another wonderful installment in the series.
Kate Drew, Nancy's mother, died years ago. Nancy never knew the truth, or just what her mother was a part of, until now.
Nancy is called in to solve the mystery and stop an evil plot, all while learning and remembering more about her mother. She also gets to enjoy some "spy gadgets" during this mystery, so that's fun. Can you solve the mystery and save the day?
Hey, bonus points that we get to play spy, have Carson Drew (Nancy's father) as a phone contact, and learn more about Kate Drew. It's another lovely installment in the Nancy Drew game series.
In this game you work with your uncle to uncover the truth of the mysterious deaths (and tons of sand) around town. They reduced the amount of spiders from the previous game, though there are still a few mechanical "darlings" in the game.
The enemy in the main game, instead of Morgana, the previous antagonist, is her daughter. The child will do anything that she can to help her mother, including her special gift to accomplish her goal. I'll admit that it was a surprisingly nice change. I think I would have enjoyed just as much if we had battled Morgana instead, but I had fun with this game.
In the bonus game, the villain is (insert). You briefly team up with (insert) to progress and save your captured uncle, only to have (insert) try to "stab you in the back" (not literally). Surprisingly, Morgana makes no mention of her daughter in the bonus game.
If you enjoyed the first game, and you want to see what happens next, this is a wonderful game. The entire game was done amazingly. (though I have to complain that when they speak, the mouths don't match up to the words...it's a bit behind...) You should also enjoy it if you're like me and not a big fan of spiders...
Your mother has gone missing. You go to try and find her, only to stumble across the insane film director that she once worked with. Can you find and save your mother, and escape before it's too late?
Honestly, when I first played this game, I did jump occasionally at some scenes. I love this game. It has great graphics and voices, and so much more. You should definitely try this game!
As any game in this series, we play as the author (insert name) Douglas. Our Dead Reckoning series is very popular, and in this game we are going to receive an award. Only, surprisingly enough, we have to hang glide down? The student escort states it's "tradition" and that all new students/etc. have to do it... yeah, no thank you. But you do hang glide down with him and reach the prestigious school. With how advanced it is, you'd think they'd be expecting us. But we arrive in time for a mystery.
I'll admit that I jumped a time or two because I wasn't expecting something to happen. And the story takes an interesting twist.
The puzzles aren't too difficult, and some may say that they're easy. The story itself takes place at a university, so you get to meet and speak with students and faculty. Parts of the mystery were easy to piece together, and then they try to throw out one or two "surprises".
Overall, it was a fun game. If you're a fan of the series, like me, or just a mystery fan, you'll enjoy the game.
