I love HotK I and II but this one is not great at all (sad day!)

I just can't. I love Hero I and II and I was waiting, so excited for this one. It is awful. The amount of time you have to spend wandering for flowers and berries and making food and potions and the number of times your weapon breaks - many times it was multiple times in a row one demon after another kill, break, get another one, kill, break, get another one, kill, break, get another one. It was just stupid. I usually play these games over and over and this time I couldn't wait to be done. And by done I mean get to "The End" and stop playing. I usually want to finish all the side quests and get all of my achievements and even if I "win" the game I go back and do every single thing I can. I actually said "Yay!" out loud when it finished. So, the good... I like the game play in general - the view is a little closer in so it's easier to spot eggs, crates, etc. I liked that the eggs and flowers and animals would "replenish" after a time. Like a real-world situation. Eggs gone, a few days later you come back, there is a different nest somewhere, the flowers have grown, some animals have wandered in. **UPDATE looking back I don't really like everything replinishing - it just feeds into what is wrong with the game, the wandering over and over and over looking for something that may appear at some point. I liked when there were a finite number of each items so the success of finding them all was an accomplishment** I like that you can rest and replenish anywhere - the "hint" button is gone (more on that later) and in its place is a button that takes you to your camp. You can eat and rest, make food, eventually make potions, weapons. I like that you didn't have to go find a camp each time you needed to rest. The story is fine. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two but maybe that was because I didn't enjoy playing as much. The bad, for me, was the lack of that guiding "hint" button that used to be down right. There were multiple times where I was, like, ok I know what my quest is but I just had to spend 45 minutes gathering flowers and other nonsense so where I am supposed to be headed? There is a lot of back-tracking. I like that you get better at certain things - the more you do them the more you improve and the higher level items you can get (start hunting rabbits and rats and end hunting deer and bears), certain locks you can pick and certain ones you can't until you get better at it. But because of this you have to keep going back to the same places over and over and over and over more so than the other games. You also pick up a random dude who teaches you lock picking but when you run out of lock picks he is still hanging out with you but is doing absolutely nothing and I didn't see any place to buy or make more lockpicks (I still haven't figured that one out). **UPDATE - the dude eventually helps you with one lock (after not helping you with multiple others) and after that he goes home to his sister's house and she will sell you lockpicks.** I like that you don't have to keep buying sacks and baskets for berries and flowers like in previous games. The map is interesting. Instead of always teleporting back to each location when you needed to visit a vendor the map just opens and you can click each icon and buy or sell and then click out and you are still at your previous location. So I like that but I wish there was an option to teleport to those places as well. There are four, I believe, places you can actually zap back to but if you want to be in any other location you have to go to one of those four and then wander back through. I basically finished the game feeling like I wasted my time instead of feeling totally justified in binging on the game in two days. I mean the price is right for this game so I don't feel like I wasted any money but if it was more expensive I would be pretty annoyed. So, sadly, though it pains me to say so, don't bother with this game. Go replay I and II.
Really short. Real easy. Was not expecting either...

Let's put it this way, I finished the entire game with 15 minutes left on my trial. That was WAY too easy. I generally play on normal mode, not expert, but I have never had a HO game that was this short or that easy. I am actually a little in shock writing this because I did not expect it to end when it did. I didn't mind the easy aspect but the fact that it was so short - I would have been REALLY mad if I had paid money for this game. This would be a good "first timer's" HO game - interesting enough, visually pleasing but nothing too difficult.
Not my favorite of these games. Got bored quickly.

I don't know what it is but I found the game play to be cumbersome and not very 'clean'. It just seems like a step back quality- and game-play-wise from many of the other games in this genre. I played about 20 minutes and was just so bored I had to stop and write this review. I normally love these games - even if they aren't great I can usually enjoy them enough to play the hour trial but I couldn't get through half of this one.

I haven't finished the game yet (I've played about an hour) but this is definitely a hidden object game that keeps my interest. There are little twists to each HO puzzle which are fantastic, the characters are interesting, even the mini-games are well thought out and smart and enjoyable. It has been several years since I was compelled to buy a HO game after the hour trial expires but I will definitely be leaving this review page and purchasing it. I hope the rest of the game is as satisfying!

I have been waiting for a second version of this game - I really liked the first one. So far it is fine - not quite as fun as the first and I hate that the sound is either on or off - sound effects and music are controlled by the same button - I like sound effects but I am not a fan of playing games with the music on. The upgrades that you can "buy" within the game aren't as helpful or interesting and so far, about 30 minutes in, I would rather just go back and re-play the first one. Verdict? Play the 1 hour demo if you want but don't buy it.
I love these games! (But this isn't the greatest...)

I do really love this type of game but even in the first levels there is a lot of guessing - no logical reason why you would fill in one square in one row vs. another. Some other games like this have a very clear logic to them but having to guess takes away any of the point of the game. I wouldn't mind guessing except the way this game is set up if you make two mistakes you have to start the entire puzzle over - after a while that becomes tiresome. If it was just a point deduction (or if you could make more than one mistake without penalty) I wouldn't mind the guessing but if I am going to be penalized at least let it be because I made and illogical choice, not because the game is set up in such a way that I have to guess randomly. I believe this same company also made Fill and Cross: Pirate Riddles (it is set up the exact same way) and I am finding the same issues with that product. The music is fine, but I always turn the music off anyway. Again, I love these games A LOT and have been waiting for more so I am glad to have this but there are better ones out there like any of the World Mosaics ones - those are great.

So slow. Cannot skip some cut scenes so you have to sit through them (I don't care to watch them, some might and that is fine but I like the option). Inconsistent (hint recharge times are different, after finishing a HOG sometimes the screen stays in the area and you have to randomly click until you hit the right object - no reason behind what you are to pick up, you just have to guess) and the character is a moron. I will usually play a so-so game at least through the free trial but I cannot possibly drag myself any further into this game. Good luck if you choose to - I really hope the game gets better but I am not going to stick around to find out.
I don't recommend this game.

I don't usually play Sim-type games because I hate feeling like I have to be back at a certain time to do this task or complete this or...etc...you get the picture, but this game isn't like that. I enjoyed the game-play, that all of the characters were pretty self-sufficiant, that there was a little strategy involved in how you wanted to upgrade and what the fastest way was to upgrade BUT I have been completely done with the game for almost a week now except for the fact that I need one of every character with each of the signs of the zodiac and there seems to be no way to get the 12th sign. Let me explain. Each character is a different sign. Each character has two "mate signs" whom they are able to marry (or you can use a potion to make them marry anyone, but I digress). When you marry characters they have children. However in order to win the game (as I said) you have to have one person of every sign. Which is great. Except there doesn't seem to be a way to guarantee a sign. Like "Marry a Taurus with a Capricorn and you get a Virgo." So basically I am completely finished except I have to wait until the game decides to give me a character with the right sign. Since I have accomplished every other task there is really no reason to continue playing the game. I find this to be a pretty big flaw in the game. Not only did I do everything I was supposed to do and still can't get the satisfaction of "winning" the game, I now have no desire to re-play the game because I can't even get this first one to wrap up. So play if you want, I liked casually checking back, assigning tasks, working out a little strategy, etc. but I won't be playing it again.
I wanted to like Druid Kingdom because I love these types of games but I found it monotonous and not very challenging - I only played the first ten levels and I usually give a game longer than that even if I don't really like it but I think I am just going to let it go - I even purchased the game thinking that it had to get better but it hasn't...good thing I used the 4th or July discount or I'd be really annoyed :)
