Since my house fire, I have had difficulty sleeping so I logged on to Big Fish about a half-hour after "Tomorrow's Game Today posted. Holy Halloween, how does one complete a 4-5 hour game within a half-hour of its release and then submit a detailed review? One of the characters made a statement at the beginning of this game "Fake Traditions" and I thought to myself, this couldn't be more true! Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, what're a few more hours? Developers' ships are sinking fast and they deserve to be paid for their hard work, whether we love the game or hate it isn't the point, paying for the game on the day of its release (or later) is just the right thing to do for everyone involved.
As for the Neglected Dead, unfortunately, the gameplay was a bit too simplistic for my personal taste. Elephant Games has chosen to return to its days of placing Emblems in every zoom zone versus genuine tasks that require the player to solve the task at hand.
I wouldn't mind the fact that all HOPA games have become so blatantly foolproof if Big Fish offered more Adventure games, but they rarely do! (even tho there are far more adventure games available than HOPAs) There are only a handful of beginner players, the majority are at least Intermediate players, most of us have been playing this genre for over a decade! In a sense, we are the ones who put this genre on the map thus, the reason HOPA developers exist today so why not throw us a bone every now and then with a game befitting our skillset?
HELPER/GADGETS:
There are NO gadgets or Helpers in Halloween Stories: The Neglected Dead, however, you'll play a different character in each Chapter. The first Chapter is played as George O'Leary, then you can choose to play as Shen Lee or Catherine Garcia-Gonzales in any order.
AUDIO/VIDEO/GAMEPLAY:
I fell in love with the graphics when I first discovered Mystery Trackers: The Void. No other developer has mastered the creepy, abandoned town scenario like Elephant Games has, the characters are lifelike and move fluently. Although they have had issues with the audio soundtracks in the past, lately I haven't noticed any freeze-ups or awkward silence moments. The game mechanics seem to be flawless but the story itself seems to have a few hiccups. In the first scene, Cathrine writes a note to tech guru, George O'Leary, that if he can get her safe open he can have anything inside, his prize is Catherines camera. George even makes the comment that he hopes the safe isn't empty, yet a few scenes later he uses the camera for the first time, and due to unforeseen circumstances, the camera gets broken...of course! He then complains that Dullaham broke HIS favorite camera? How can it be HIS favorite camera if prior to this single-use it belonged to Catherine? Moving on to the next scene, an old, half-blind man is kidnapped by the evil-doer and George makes the comment that he has to save this victim because it's the only way to find out what he did to deserve being kidnapped...say what???
MORPHING OBJECTS/COLLECTIBLES: (CE version only)
Less is More, right? I mentioned falling in love with Mystery Trackers: The Void because of the graphics, but the reason I started to play the series in the first place was that it had Morphing Objects. Originally, Elephant Games had amazing Morphing Objects that were challenging to spot because the morphs were slow and the objects that morphed were things that weren't obvious, such as paintings, windows, or sections of a building that morphed into a similar object. Then they started making the Morphs huge and they were so obvious when a mushroom started flashing at a break-neck speed into a giant, out-of-proportion, and out-of-place white baseball which took away all of the challenge and all of the fun. Now they have just abandoned ship, instead of putting forth more effort, they decided Less is More. I sure do miss the old Elephant Games tradition :( There are 12 Collectible Cards with descriptions of various Halloween evil-doers, and 24 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces to assemble a Single Screensaver.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES:
There are only 8 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter, and a handful of smaller zoom zone HO's that usually precede the main HO scenes. What I am noticing from this developer in the last few games, is a marked improvement in the Hidden Object Scenes. The objects are smaller and less obvious they are clearly making an attempt to blend the objects into the scenery and choosing objects that will blend into the scene rather than stick out like a sore thumb, why can't they apply this method to the Morphing Object scenario? There are Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Matching Pairs, Find & Replace Scenes, Keywords in Sentence Finds, and Multiples of the same Item Finds. There are no alternate games available in lieu of the HOs.
.
MINI-GAMES/PUZZLES:
There are 18 Mini-Games +4 in the CE Bonus Chapter. They did a good job putting twists on standard games to make them Halloween-themed or at least character-related. There seems to be an excessive amount of puzzles that involve moving tiles along a track, such as moving tiles along tracks to complete an image, choosing letters in the correct order so that when the letters slide along a loopy track it spells a specific word, etc. If it wasn't a sliding track puzzle, it was a swap tile scenario which is disappointing because usually, Elephant Games offers a lot of Mechanical type puzzles which are my favorite
BONUS CHAPTER: (Collector's Edition version only)
Turn back the hand of the clock to debunk the infamous Mothman. Because I am from Ohio, the Mothman legend is very familiar so I kind of enjoyed the Bonus Chapter! There are only 7 Scene Locations so it's on the shorter side but I'm okay with short, I'd just prefer to have quality over quantity. There are 4 additional Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes, and you will continue your search for the remaining 3 Halloween Cards and 6 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces which allow you to complete your Screensaver. After completing the Bonus Chapter the Mystery Room (replay 12 Mini-Games & 13 Hidden Object Scenes) and Expedition Room (return to scenes to search for missed Collectibles & Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces) are unlocked.
MOTHMAN FUN FACTS:
The Mothman is a cryptid that lives in the area around Point Pleasant, West Virginia, some believe he is a Harbinger of doom, that his presence signifies or warns of an impending disaster, others say the Mothman causes the horrific disaster. The Mothman is also known as Indrid Cold, or “The Grinning Man” which is a supernatural entity/alien that grins at people who see him. The first known sighting of the Mothman was in November 1966 in Point Pleasant, W.Va., a town of 4,300 people at the confluence of the Ohio and Kanawha rivers, just southeast of and across the river from Gallipolis, Ohio. The sightings continued for the next 13 months from over 100 credible witnesses, such as couples, firefighters, and larger groups of people culminating in the collapse of the Silver Bridge, a disaster that killed 46 people. Afterward, The Mothman vanished as quickly as he arrived! Since 2002 the town of Point Pleasant has celebrated the “Mothman Festival” on the third weekend of every September, they even have a 12-foot tall statue of the Mothman in Point Pleasant! To this day people claim to have seen the Mothman before disasters like 9/11 and the collapse of the 35 west bridge in Minneapolis.
COLLECTOR'S EDITION EXTRA'S:
5 Wallpapers, 1 Jigsaw Puzzle Screensaver, 4 Music Soundtracks, 21 Achievements, 12 Collectible Halloween Cards (with descriptions) 24 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces, Mystery Room (replay 12 Mini-Games & 13 Hidden Object Scenes), Expedition Room (return to scenes to search for missed Collectibles & Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces) 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.
I recommend this game!

Once Again, these pictures have nothing to do with "detectives" or a crime. Speaking of pictures, I hope you aren't interested in playing any of the puzzles on pages 1-5 because once you arrow through the pages past page 5, there's no turning back. No matter what I did at that point, the arrows would not take me back to anything before page 6 on every box! Maybe this game has a detective theme after all...The case of the missing puzzles...dun-dun-duuuunnnn

There are Achievement Trophies to earn and a Top Scores leaderboard. There are no options to access any of those features to find out what achievements you are striving to achieve. You can save your puzzle's progress but you can't save the completed puzzle image nor can you download the image as a screensaver or wallpaper, you can't even admire the completed image because they disappear immediately.
There is a box to store extra pieces, but there are no options to categorize, label, or sort these stored pieces, nor is there an option to fetch or retrieve certain pieces because you can't sort and label these stored pieces. The current sort option simply scrambles the pieces supposedly to the correct area, such as the top, bottom, right, or left side, which seems like cheating to me? Most of the time there seems to be no rhyme or reason for how or why the pieces are sorted the way they are, it's like a roll of the dice??

There is an option to post a Pictured Image of the puzzle you are working on which also allows you to choose three different sizes of x1, x2, or x3. You can also opt to Ghost the Image on the Background (the puzzle is assembled on top of the ghosted image) It doesn't, however, give you the option to choose the Opaqueness of the Ghosted Image to make the image more or less visible, depending on how difficult you want the puzzle assembly to be. The "ghosted image isn't "ghosted" it's simply a large, stationary picture.
There is an available Magnifying Glass to enlarge sections, as well as a Hint feature in case you get stumped. You can easily become "stumped" because the puzzle connection tabs connecting two pieces together, never appear as an actual match (the tab on puzzle piece A looks nothing like the opening in puzzle piece B) most of the time the colors don't even appear to match up because they are using cheap software. You can also choose the Resolution, opt for a single Custom Cursor (a tiny cursor at that!) or change the color of the background to a pastel shade of Pink, Green, Blue, or Gray. Even though they are pastels, these basic color options tend to be too dark with most of the puzzles, so being able to adjust the intensity of the background colors at the very least, makes sense, doesn't it?

Any Puzzle can be modified with Size options, the Shape of the puzzle pieces, and whether or not you want the pieces to Rotate, but even then, it's not optimized to allow you to assemble a puzzle much bigger than 300 pieces. A 300 Piece physical Puzzle purchased off the shelf would be labeled for ages +5 five years old and up! There's an old jigsaw meme that says "I just completed a puzzle in one week and the box says 2-5 years"...great motto for Jigsaws by this developer, eh?

Just put this "Legend of the Mysteriously Missing Detective Puzzles" in the rearview mirror and drive on over to The Woods Forum where I guarantee you will have more fun! thewoodsforum.boards.net
I don't recommend this game.

If you liked the first Daydream Mosaics, you're in for a big surprise because this one has a tale to tell, Julliette's Tale! My favorite feature is that you earn Crystals that allow you to build Sanctuaries piece by piece (just like Jewel Match Games) The completed Sanctuaries create 11 beautiful Wallpapers and everyone knows just how creative this particular Graphic Designer is.
I can't imagine Mosaic fans could want for anything, the graphics are beautiful, the game mechanics are flawless, the completed images are interesting and easily identifiable, the numbers on the columns & rows are clear and precise and never seems confusing or too "busy" in appearance like some other mosaics where it's difficult to spot available cells or differentiate between filled-in and crossed-off cells. Your progress will be saved at any point, unlike some mosaic series that make you start from the beginning if you didn't complete a level.
You can choose from 12 different Tile Selections and a Custom Cursor. There are three difficulty options to choose from as well, Relaxed Mode with no limits for Mistakes, Normal Mode which has a specified number of Mistakes allotted, and an Advanced Mode which doesn't cross off the numbers until the entire Row & Column has been completed.
You can earn up to 3-stars per level depending on the number of Hints used and a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal depending on the number of Mistakes you made.
Each Grid has Powerups, Keys, and Chrystals, randomly distributed and hidden behind the Cells. Keys unlock additional color bubbles, Power-ups add 1 Hint, extend the number of Mistakes allowed on that level, and recharges the Hammer & Bomb Powerups. Crystals are used to build the Sanctuary, a section at a time, once completed, the Sanctuary becomes a gorgeous Wallpaper!
Hint~reveals a random colored tile.
Hammer~reveals a chosen cell.
Bomb~ reveals a 3 x 3 area.

To break up the monotony, they have added Mini-Games, Spot the Differences, and Hidden Object Scenes...and this game includes 9 additional Bonus Games! I loved the disappearing/reappearing Crystals Hidden Object Scene and the Spot the Difference Scenes were fun but I felt the "differences" could have been less obvious and more subtle.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE FAIRIES?
I for one love Fairy-themed fantasy games and I was thrilled to see a new series in this genre. I won't lie, once I realized Domini was the developer, I was "fairy-le" certain this would be a huge letdown. To my surprise, the graphics were amazing and more surprisingly, the storyline was pretty decent too! Unfortunately, it only took a couple of scenes before I started experiencing Deja Vu. I've played this exact game hundreds of times and if you've played any Domini game lately, you've played this game too!
I was really hoping that Domini had donned a shiny new set of Fairy Wings befitting of this new fantasy HOPA series but it appears someone has clipped this fairy's wings! Sometimes pretty isn't enough, if nothing ever changes from one game to the next, from one series to another, who cares about a new title and pretty graphics?
If Domini is the only HOPA developer left on the BF market, how long will it take before the remaining audience grows weary of the repetitive gameplay and lame, cliche tasks? How long will it take before everyone realizes that all Domini changes, from one game to the next, from one series to another, is the graphics, title, and story?
It's bad enough that every game has the same collectibles & morphs in the same amounts & locations (all they do is rename them) but what really bothers me is that they can't even bother to change the game mechanics. Scene one-cue a mini-game followed by a Hidden Object Scene which is always a story-driven HO requiring the player to find Keywords in a story. The mini-games are the same puzzles with different graphics, go one step further and you'll soon realize that the "active" areas & "zoom zones" have the same placeholder spots as the previous game no matter which series it is. This is why you automatically know to look at the fireplace for example because they are all the same game copy/pasted and recoded with new graphics! How long will it take before a beginner player is bored to the point of no return when they have to solve the same tasks 10 times PER CHAPTER? When playing this game, take notice and I bet you'll get a case of Deja Vu too!

AUDIO-VIDEO & GAME MECHANICS:
Domini has always had crisp, detailed graphics even though they sometimes struggle with the color palette which tends to have an overabundance of one dominant color for each game. The graphics are beautiful and perfect for a Fairy-fairytale themed game. The audio always seems spot on and you'll probably never notice looped soundtracks, but that's exactly how background music is supposed to work, it should go unnoticed while subconsciously stimulating the brain to recognize the ebbs, floes, and climaxes of the storyline. Domini is famous for adding items that can be interacted with, however, they seem to be far and few between lately and they tend to add a bunch of interactions during the demo portion to trick us into thinking that the entire game will be loaded with them!
COLLECTIBLES & MORPHING OBJECTS (CE Only):
It's hard to enjoy a repetitive Collectible offered game after game and even though this is a brand new series, the collectibles/morps are the same ole, same ole! Once again, there are a gazillion Missing Notes to discover, 15 Morphing Magic Items, and 15 Fairy Figurines to click on. I say click on versus collect because they are never challenging to find, they just require the player to click on them...clickables NOT collectibles! Once again, there are 70 Zoom Zone Coin Leaves that are used to purchase 15 decorations for Queen Mab's Hut. The decorations are always spewn about the room with seemingly no rhyme or reason, and they certainly aren't an exciting addition to the game. There is an optional Collection Icon Tab that can be enabled or disabled in the settings menu which lights up when a clickable is available in the scene. You can also choose to show/hide the availability of collectibles on the Map.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES:
There are 13 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter, the same amount offered in every game because as I said the game mechanics are the same in every game, they only change the graphics & story, everything else is a carbon copy. The Hidden Object Scenes vary with Keywords in Sentence Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Matching Objects, Multiples of the Same Item Finds, Progressive-Interactive Finds, and good Old-fashioned Interactive Listed Item Finds.
MATCH 3 ALTERNATIVE:
There is an alternate Match 3 Game available, which still doesn't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly because you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match which makes the game super boring. The M3 boards are always square and they never add obstacles or new features to make it progress in difficulty. FYI: one of the achievements requires you to play the alternate Match 3 game in place of the HOS. (just once)

MINI-GAMES-PUZZLES:
There are 16 Mini-Games +9 in the CE Bonus Chapter. You can choose to play them in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode and you can choose which mode to have them start out in the Custom Setting (you can still switch between modes for each individual game)

BONUS CHAPTER: (CE Version Only)
You play as a young Maryam, a character from the main game on a mission to save the fairies from the clutches of evildoers. There are 5 Hidden Object scenes and 9 Mini-games spread out over 12 additional scene locations filled with even more repetitive tasks. You will continue your search for the final 4 Fairy Figurines, 6 Morphing Magic Items, and 12 Zoom Zone Leaf Coins of varying amounts which allows you to purchase the final decorations for Queen Mab's Hut...same collectibles/morphs different names.
COLLECTOR'S EDITION EXTRA'S: (CE version only)
21 Wallpapers (I have to admit that the wallpapers are gorgeous, some of them are without characters slapped all over them!) 21 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 25 Movie Video Cutscenes, 36 Achievements, 18 Replayable Mini-Games, 18 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Magic Items, 15 Fairy Figurine Clickables,70 Zoom-Zone Coin Leaves, 15 Queen Mab's Hut decorations (purchase with leaves) 8 excessively long Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.
We haven't seen any Fairies yet but we do have plenty of forest critters at my new forum so swing by, feed the bears, reconnect with long-lost forum friends and become an official Woosdey...thewoodsforum.boards.net

I've always considered Domini Games to be in the upper-class as far as professionalism and quality goes, until recently.. The past dozen or so games have slipped significantly as far as quality is concerned. Lately, games have had mechanical issues where objects are "invisible" in a zoom zone, achievements that are awarded for the wrong action at the wrong time, and strategy guides that have missing or wrong information.
After playing Power of Love, I'm shocked because the typographical and grammatical errors are blatantly obvious and so numerous that you have to wonder if they are wearing themselves too thin, or they simply don't care about quality anymore because they have no competition?
Even if you don't care about grammatical errors, you have to wonder why someone would say "the criminal sent a parcel, it might be something" of course it's something...it's a package??? A note attached to said package says "we've sent you a new knocker instead of the broken one" Were they contemplating sending a broken doorknocker because that's certainly what the note implies?? Even if none of these things bother you, surely the fact that this "new" game series has the exact same plot as the last new series by this developer, Fatal Evidence: The Cursed Island??
I've already come to terms that Domini will never be able to think outside the box. They will never be able to make their games more interesting because they cannot or will not put forth an effort to be more creative with the tasks & gameplay. When a developer targets ALL of their games towards beginners, the genre will become self-limiting because eventually even those new to the genre will grow weary of the same gameplay over and over, beginners are only beginners for a small period of time!
One might argue that HOPA developers have disappeared because the genre no longer interests gamers. IF THIS WERE THE CASE, then why do so many people talk about replaying their older games? If this were true, why do so many of my forum members enjoy our Group Play Game dates so much? (We play older HOPAs together as a group) If this were true, why do so many people still state how much more enjoyable HOPAs were compared to what's offered today? When was the last time you were blown away by a HOPA game folks, has Big Fish offered an epic game in the last few years that will go down in history as a fan-favorite like MCF Dire Grove?
The HOPA genre hasn't died, BF killed it because they refuse to listen to the correct audience. They are giving these few remaining developers poor advice and guidance! BF is clearly making developers adhere to an outdated guideline because they never bother to do any marketing surveys other than the mobile/gambling market. HOPAs put BF on the map, but when it started to run out of gas they just left it behind and looked for the next money-maker when the real goldmine was still sitting in front of them in a huge heaping pile. Big Fish failed to see the red flags from fans disappointed in the direction, developers were going with the gameplay.
BF milked the money train even longer by cutting corners and directing developers to copy/paste the same mini-games, HO's, and game mechanics into each proceeding game. This is why the games all seem identical even though they have new storylines & graphics!!! Sometimes you have to spend money to make money, and a little bit of research would have saved this genre (perhaps a survey to the right people asking the right questions) and it would have saved all of the wonderful developers we grew to love, and miss so much, such as Vendel Games, Amax Interactive, Boolat, Eipix, Blue Tea, Daily Magic, Deep Shadow, Vast Studio, Sunward Games, Mariglorum, games and so many more! We lost a ton of amazing developers and we will lose the few remaining because of poor management and advice. The genre is still salvageable, but not until BF realizes that their "vision" is outdated and geared toward the wrong audience. The current direction they are forcing these developers to take will be the last nail in the coffin. We HOPA fans know what changes need to be made, so why not take a chance and start asking us? Let's not forget that most HOPA fans are Baby Boomers or at the tail end of that era...imagine how many creative minds there are in a group 71 million strong!
Audio/Visuals & Game Mechanics:
Domini has always had crisp, detailed graphics even though they sometimes struggle with the color palette which tends to have an overabundance of one dominant color for each game. The audio always seems spot on and you'll; probably never notice looped soundtracks, but that's exactly how background music should work, it should go unnoticed while subconsciously stimulating the brain to recognize the ebbs, floes, and climaxes of the storyline. Domini is famous for adding items that can be interacted with, however, they seem to be far and few between lately.
Gadgets/Helper:
There are several Gadgets, some of which are only used once or twice, others, such as your Detective Kit (used only when playing as the Detective Twin) are used often to lift fingerprints, etc. You will gather clues that are shown as Silhouetted Shapes in groups of 4 on the top right corner as well.
Technically, you have a helper as you switch between the Twins characters. Randall Jones is the Detective who doesn't believe in his sister Elenor's Paranormal sensitivities, in fact, he believes everything has a logical or scientific explanation.
Collectibles & Morphing Objects (CE Version Only):
It's hard to enjoy a repetitive Collectible offered game after game. Domini seems to be the only kid left on the block so I guess we'll be stuck with the same routines? Once again, there are a gazillion Missing Notes to discover, 15 Morphing Ritual Items, and 14 Patricia's "Things" to click on. I say click on versus collect because they are never challenging to find, they just require the player to click on them! Once again, there are 89 Zoom Zone Coins that are used to purchase 15 Boudoir Items that are sloppily placed throughout the room with seemingly no rhyme or reason, and they certainly aren't an exciting addition to the game. There is an optional Collection Icon Tab that can be enabled or disabled in the settings menu which lights up when a clickable is available in the scene. You can also choose to show/hide the availability of collectibles on the Map.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 13 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter. (just once)
The Hidden Object Scenes vary with Keywords in Sentence Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Placing Cutouts over their Matching Objects, Finding Matching Pairs by opening 2 boxes at a time, Spot the Differences, Multiples of the Same Item Finds, and good Old-fashioned Interactive Listed Item Finds as well.
Mini-Games:
There are 19 Mini-Games +8 in the CE Bonus Chapter. You can choose to play them in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode and you can choose which mode to have them start out in the Custom Setting (you can still switch between modes for each individual game)
I didn't encounter any new puzzles, they were all revamped mini-games you've solved a hundred times, such as using partial symbols to decypher lock combinations, entering codes by counting the number of connections along each path, dragging partial fragments to complete a snowflake, the infamous "find and use items interactively" to navigate a house via flashlight, balancing scales using weights, clicking different areas using color-coded symbols, or placing tools into a box without overlapping items. The only puzzle I really enjoyed required pushing screws into the gold slots because it was the only puzzle that required using strategy and thought process!
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
I'm pretty sure the title of the Bonus Chapter is "Twin Solo" because you only play as Elenor Jones without her Twin brother Randall. Foul play is amiss when a terrifying spirit is unleashed after the horrifying drowning incident of a young boy in a nearby lake. Elenor must sift through the family's sordid past to separate fact from fiction and identify the killer, albeit normal or paranormal. There are 5 Hidden Object scenes and 8 Mini-games spread out over 10 additional scene locations. You will continue your search for the final 5 Ritual Items, 4 Patricia's Things, and 10 Zoom Zone Coins of varying amounts which allows you to purchase the final Boudoir Items.

If someone who was new to this genre opened this game, the chances of them exiting the game immediately are almost guaranteed...the images are the worse I've seen in ANY pixel art game!
As I've been saying a lot lately, Pixel Art is now nothing more than a "dated" old-fashioned game with none of the features that the new kids on the block have to offer. Other pixel art games have so many useful features, such as maps that show the current color locations, features that tell you how many cells each color has available, and one of my favorites was choosing the desired colors shown as crayons versus just square color boxes. (which btw: I've had to click 3-4 times before the color is accepted, not to mention how difficult it is to click the arrow to scroll to the next set of numbers. It's also a pain to have to scroll back & forth between colored number sets)
These images are boring and lack any semblance of "curb appeal". The chosen colors are always bland, unappealing, and rarely pop with shades and hues that complement one another versus shades that muddle together like you just added a glob of red, yellow, and blue paint together to make a huge brown mess.
Pixel Art is a computer version of Paint by Numbers, in a pixelated version. Each pixel has a number that is filled in with its corresponding color/number from the palette on the right side. You simply left-click to fill in all the numbers with the correct color, you can also hold the mouse button and swipe through large groupings of numbers. The auto-fill feature will fill in large groups of pixels when you double-click on a cluster of numbers, but that feature has to recharge after each use. (a sound alerts you when the auto-fill feature is available each time)
Other than the auto-fill, there are only a couple of other features or options offered...the same original features, nothing new has been updated since the first Pixel Art game! There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. The most annoying feature that has yet to be addressed is the fact that you are forced to complete the first level before you can access the next set of images, rest assured, those images are dreadful too!
You can also change the color of the Highlighted cells to various shades of grey. This is the area that Pixel Art games fail miserably. With most games, the current chosen number/color is highlighted with a shade that sticks out in a crowd so you can easily identify where the available cells are located, even without a map location feature. For some odd reason, several numbers/colors are shaded at the same time in the same area making it impossible to easily spot the numbered cells you are working on. This has never made sense to me, for example, if you click on the number 10 from the color palette, all cells with the number 10 will highlight in grey but so will other numbers like number 21, and number 18 so you'll have to search for number 10 cells jumbled in with several other grey-highlighted cells. It's a frustrating feature that defeats the purpose of a Zen painting game!??

When it comes to a "painting" game, images are everything and if the images aren't appealing, nothing else matters at that point. There are a ton of pictures where there is just a single image slapped in the middle that doesn't allow you to paint the background. It's a painting game, why on Earth would you not take advantage of the entire scene? If I saw an adult paint by numbers book with these same images I wouldn't buy it so why would I pay 7 bucks for a computer version? Most people would only have a few different colored pencils on hand, so wouldn't you expect a computer version to have tons of mind-blowing colors available?
There are 64 images available but you are forced to finish the first level before moving on to the next. I still don't understand this concept, why do I have to finish one level before proceeding? I'm sure everyone would like the ability to pick and choose from any level, at the very least, allow us to see all of the available images even if we can't paint them because they are still locked! This scenario only makes me suspicious that the rest of the images are worse.
Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side. There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (as well as a "fit" tab) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging.
I like the textures available in the Modern Art series better than the colors offered in their Paint By Numbers series and this would be a 5-star game if they would simply add some must-have features, better colors, and better image selections. This developer is truly struggling with pictures and interesting color choices so it would be wise to seek out an artist or two for some better insight.

The original Clutter games are super fun but Shopping Clutter is just boring. They have huge repetitive objects, giant suns, and annoying features. Shopping Clutter pales in comparison to the original Clutter games which are constantly adding really cool features. The look and feel of those games make Shopping Clutter appear as if it were a High School class project, the differences are astounding.
Most of the levels involve finding Matching pairs or occasionally Triplets of objects, and some of the levels have semi-transparent objects, but for the most part, there's no variety. The same objects are repeated over and over in every scene and it quickly becomes monotonous and boring not to mention the fact that many of the objects are completely unidentifiable and will leave you clueless as to what you are actually matching over and over.
There are two modes of difficulty, Easy Mode which has no time restraints, and a Difficult, Limited-time Mode that gives you extra points for not using Hints. There are 140 Clutter-type levels that can be replayed if you want to earn a better score, the developer always seems to have the top score which seems rather conceited when you think about it, right?
After playing 7 Clutter levels, you can play a Jigsaw Puzzle variation such as Square Tile Swaps (adjacent, diagonal, etc.) Sliders, or Memory Match games where you flip over two cards at a time to try to make matches of identical objects (20 Total Puzzles)
Each scene has a ton of GIANT Sun Emblems scattered among the junkpiles to recharge the Hint Meter, seriously, what's the ratio of the number of objects required to find versus how many Sun Hints there actually are? The only reason I click on them is that their presence annoys me and they are always in the way, they need to be smaller, much smaller!
I really don't see that anything has changed or that any new varieties were added. When this series first came out, it seemed that the objects to find were more interesting, but as of late, they don't seem to be putting a lot of effort into these games to make things more interesting, at least pick categories that are interesting! (FOOD or PAPER OBJECTS is the best you can come up with?)

I love this developer dearly because he always strives to create a better version each time, but my adoration for this developer hasn't clouded my judgment. I can honestly say that Puzzle Pieces 5: Fairy Ring is 100% perfection, I loved everything about this game and I have never seen such interesting puzzle images in one game...not to mention a fairy adventure that gently unfolds as you progress!
The graphics have been refined and the developer has paid attention to every detail, if I had to use one word to describe this game, I would probably go with Elegance. My favorite genre of all time is and has always been Jigsaw Puzzles and this my friends has just made it to my number one personal favorite jigsaw game...it just bumped out a game I have played every day for the last 6 years!
Some jigsaw puzzles have features that make you feel stressed with timers or hard to reach goals, the atmosphere is chaotic, frustrating, and anything but zen. Puzzle Pieces 5: Fairy Ring is peaceful, relaxing, and Zen! Each puzzle completed fills the Mana, and each puzzle is 100% customizable with so many different puzzle shapes, the number of pieces desired, background, brightness, pictured images, ghosted images, and more, you even get to choose whether or not you want a Timer. You'll earn points for completing the puzzle with or without the timer, (some puzzles are more difficult than others and worth more points) which fills the mana meter and uncovers the secrets hidden within the Enchanted Forest.

Not everyone has a need for speed and this game would be awesome if it had a casual mode that had a more lenient scoring system. Not only are you tasked with finding the listed items at a break-neck speed, but you will have to find the listed items with nearly 100% accuracy or there's no way you'll earn all 3 Stars!
I actually enjoyed the demo but afterward, I discovered that it was nearly impossible to earn all 3-Stars even with 100% accuracy because of the speed required to keep the combo meter full. At first, I thought it was a cool feature to replay the scenes several times until I earned all 3 stars but eventually, it just became frustrating and many times I ended up "settling" for 2 stars after deeming a level 3-star impossible.
This is yet another game that was originally a F2P app (released in 2014) converted to a PC version and offered as a "new game" The HO scenes still have the 2014 grainy vibe which makes it difficult to distinguish some of the items, however, they did a really good job of mixing up the HO scenes with a nice variety. One scene I found very creative used just two contrasting colors, red & white to cut out silhouettes of animals making it pretty challenging to find some items. I also enjoyed the scenes where you had to find listed items shown one at a time that were located in a pile of clutter.
Each Hidden Object Scene has level goals that must be achieved, such as earning a specific amount of points, finding 2-3 Combo items (making quick back-to-back matches), or finding at least 15 of the same object, such as 15 Buttons. As you progress, Boosters are added to help you achieve these goals, such as a Magnifying Glass to remove 1 Random Item, Lightning to remove a Needed Item, a Shield Boost to protect you from Misclicks, or an Easy Combo Booster that gives you twice as much time to achieve combos. Additional Boosters can be purchased using the Gems you earn by completing Level Goals.
Everyone wants to earn all 3-Stars, unfortunately, as you progress, earning these stars becomes nearly impossible, particularly in the scenes with grainy graphics. There was one scene in the demo portion that was an underwater Atlantis kind of scene where you are tasked with finding "out of place" items but several of the objects were unrecognizable, I couldn't tell if a blob was a pile of shells or an object that didn't belong so I basically had to memorize the objects by replaying the level several times.
